We arrived to the Harrah’s New Orleans at around 3:30 am from a long drive hoping to get a room. When we arrived a lady and what looked like a security guard were at the door and asked for our ID’s. The lady, an employee of Harrah’s, claimed me and my partners ID’s did not look real. I am a 34 year old male and my partner is 27. My partner also showed his passport. The employee asked him to smile and starting sassing at him, “show me your dimples!” We were then told to get lost by the security guard. I requested to speak with management just before another security guard came out to tell us to “get off my property”. Waiting outside management finally came but not to address the situation. Instead we were told to “not even step foot into the building” by Leroy and Tina, who were acting as management. Let me start by saying I was underwhelmed. I just came back from the Mandarin Oriental NYC, and Ritz Carlton West Palm Beach. My travels also include stays at Four Seasons Costa Rica and Las Ventanas in Cabos to name a few. So perhaps I expected too much. Alas, it was a American Express property so I didn't think it would be as bad as it was. The housekeeping service was minimal, there was never any staff answering the phones after 11pm. I had to call for basic items repeatedly which never appeared.At one point I actually expected them to just leave the cleaning supplies for me to use. The lock on the room door broke several times. At one point we were locked out of our room several times for long periods of time. The worst part of the stay was when a male staff walked in on our room unannounced to replace two bottles of water. All of our concerns were brought to Kyle the 'manager' ( I use that term loosely), who promised a resolution. We never heard back from him during the rest of ou...

Discovered this place by accident and we were glad we did. We have three children and were taking a cruise out of New Orleans and wanted to be outside the quarter, but within walking distance of it. Quiet, clean, and spacious room that we hated to leave for a cruise cabin the next day. We usually go to New Orleans twice a year and we will stay here each time.

The staff was great and very friendly. The room was extremely clean and a lot nicer than I anticipated. The stairwell and common areas could have been cleaner, particularly the very bottom of the stairwell where it appeared to be used as a storage for cleaning supplies. The common area on my floor was getting painted, so I did take that into consideration. This hotel has a ton of history and it is well located. And I do mind roaches. I very very much do. I saw good reviews for this hotel, and booked based on that. It started with the main elevator, which didn't work. I was put on the second floor, but the elevator could only reach it after going all the way up to the 4th floor and then coming back down to the 2nd. I have no idea what that was about!

The hotel is in an amazing location. All other staff besides the front desk were great. I told my friend that this was not New Orleans hospitality at all. The elevator was not working multiple times. The toilet kept getting clogged. The shower was difficult to turn on because the handle was broken. The room looked clean and then i noticed broken mardi gras beads and pink feathers in the room. The staff who wasn't working the desk was very nice though. Can't beat the location.
