early breakfast, transport to airport very prompt Even though on the main road, directions to hotel very limited
Staff was very kind and helpful. The park in the back looked awful and needed care.
The hotel is located close to Stansted airport BUT... DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL or DeSalis. I have given fair (good) reviews to most of the hotels where I have stayed in the past. My reviews can be seen in Agoda, Booking, Kayak and I am a Platinum member with Marriott hotels. What did I not like about this hotel? I encountered the rudest and most disrespectful staff I've ever dealt with. As soon as I walked in the guy at the front desk yelled at my girlfriend and I for leaving the car parked (momentarily) in the only area available (we did this to confirm that we had a room before unloading our suitcases) If you're driving, bear in mind that the hotel has two decent parking spots, otherwise you'll end up leaving your car in the back of the building which seems dark and unsafe. The guy then said that he didn't see our reservation and sent us to a DIFFERENT HOTEL without even apologizing for the ordeal. The new hotel was called DeSalis and it was OK at first sight but we were given a nasty and old room in the back of the building. The room smelled like and old and humid warehouse. The bed was uncomfortable and you had to hold the shower with one hand as it wasn't attached to the wall. Further, we were told the restaurant closed at 11pm but we showed up at 10.35pm and they said that the kitchen was closed. Bear in mind that the closest restaurant is 15 minutes away from DeSalis. Outcome? We ate chips and drank cheap wine at 11.30pm in our nasty and uncomfortable room after driving 4 hours from Manchester. Overall, this was the worst experience I've ever had not with one but two hotels. I am sure other people have enjoyed their stays but I hope you guys keep in mind my comments if you want to avoid being THAT couple that doesn't their last night in such a lovely country! I want to leave on a good note so I will once again mention that both hotels are less than 8 minutes away from the aiport.
Excellent that it had parking included and a shuttle service in the early hours of the morning. Much less hassle than waiting for a taxi. The room was clean and was more than adequate for our overnight stay. The fact that self-service breakfast was waiting from 4am meant we could have a quick bite to eat before leaving for the airport at 5am. No real bad points. Some hooks and a towel rail in the en-suite bathroom would have been nice as there was no-where to hang a towel or night clothes. No shelves either for toiletries. A hair dryer in the room would have been an advantage, but not essential.
Staff were friendly airport transfer very good Was moved to a different hotel in teh same chain (De Salis) as the first hotel was not 'ready'.. This other hotel was difficult to find
In expensive, clean room etc. Did not get a wake up call as requested and did not get a separate taxi booked as expected which meant I was nearly late for mt meeting.
The staff were very nice. The hotel is very basic which is not a criticism just a fact and this is reflected in the budget price.
it was close to the airport we have been charged for the shuttle, and nothing was advertise about it normally the shuttle comes free. on top of that the driver was late in the morning
Great, cheap and located near the airport !
Proximity to Stansted Airport. Nothing. It's basically a comfortable room for a night.
Setting of hotel, cleanliness, impressive entrance of hotel, has a smart chic style Shower curtains bit tacky and cheap looking compared to rest of hotel, slightly grubby
Convenient for airport, comfortable and clean.
Beautiful home, warm, friendly welcome. The availabilty of an evening meal on our arrival was a great help. Comfortable beds . Very nice stay.
amicable hosts, very accommodating, feel like you're at home. sweet pet cats in the garden. room was very comfortable. lots of different interesting art.
elegant, very confortable, very kind owners, good breakfast, very easy to reach
Peter and Paulette were great.
Nice house, exceptionally welcoming and helpful owners, comfortable bed, good value. Nothing
Very friendly atmosphere. Perfect breakfast. Very convenient location.
Close to Stansted and nearby Cambridge, it's perfect for those who are flying to or from London but who prefer to escape London's busy atmosphere. The couple who runs it are nice and although I would have preferred a bigger English breakfast, they did offer more toast and cereals to fill you up. the pack breakfast they made us on our last day was a bit stingy and we would have liked to have the check in a bit earlier than 3pm.
very friendly ,typical english guest house, not hotel. no.
breakfast and hospitality of the personnel, roof-top windows
the pick up service from the airport was exellent and v nice owners the hotel was in a pleasant leafy area and the room was comfortable with tv and very hot water and kettle etc. the downside was the terrible aircraft noise & no double glazing - planes every hour all night long and every 15 minutes from 6 am& a very hard bed indeed - rock hard.A strange breakfast affair with all manner of sweet goods still in packets and wrappers in a breakfast room with self service and kettle and crockery
Carpet in room slightly dirty however the carpet was White so a few marks to be expected
Rooms were large and clean and the staff was great. On site restaruant served a variety of good food.
We stayed as a party of 10 in 4 rooms, cochroaches were found in 2 of the rooms and the hotel smelt and the rooms were dirty. I would not recommend this hotel
standard of rooms, food, car parking and airport transfer. no.
my room was really big and comfortable the shuttle price is GBP 3,50 so each time you want to leave the hotel you have to use the shuttle as it is a bit far from the airport and any town,in 2 days i spent GBP 14,00 on the shuttle.a bit too expensive
the driving to the airport was very nice offer.even if the plains were neare, one could not hear them so much.
Nice Indian food. New-painted. Close to airport. Big room and bathroom. Not long waiting for pick-up in the airport. The waiter seemed impatient when we asked for some advice for food and drink - and we got the wrong menucard - we could not choose from all menues. Nothing to read. Not many TV-stations. No possibility for pastime/shopping. Transfer to airport not free (and when I phoned from the airport, the lady was impatient because it was difficult to understand her in the telephone). Early breakfast very boring - only one sort of marmelade and toast. Too much noice from the area outside the door when people pass.
The staff were freindly and polite.
Location, easy accsess to rooms, transport to stanstead airport mould in the kettle, driver not coming to work to pick us from the airport, had to take taxi, beds uncomfortable,tv channels poor,tv too small
quiet location, comfortable room, friendly helpful staff the room was not clean. Rubbish from former inhabitant, stains, dust. (room 23)
The fact that it was so close to the airport and very confortable. The bar prices were ridiculous, a small glass of wine £6.00, come on!! people just eat and drink else where. The food was also quite poor.
Proximity to airport was very useful and check out as well as car collection service were both good The carpet in room and corridor were not as clean as they could have been. Check-in was very slow!
Easy access to the airport... Price.
The hotel is new and very clean and has all the necessary facilities for a pleasant stay. There was no family room and so I had to take two rooms with a connecting door for a family of four.
Easy access to terminal
Spacious room and comfortable bed. Walking distance from the airport.
Friendly staff, clean room, just next to terminal building (2 min walk), quick check-in and check-out.
the location as it serves the airport very well. The rooms are comfortable and the staff very helpful. The cost of drinks and meals. I with many others leave the hotel and eat and socialise in the airport. If the food and drink bill was less then people would be more likely to stay and eat on the premises. I even know people who avoid the hotel because of the cost
easy for airport long black head hair in bath
Loved that there was an acrobat performing several times throughout the evening! Fantastic rooms and excellent service! Restaurant prices were a bit high, also it would have been even more wonderful if he acrobat's performance times were posted somewhere so I could have timed my evening drinks in the bar accordingly. All around great experience though!
The hotel's position close to the airport terminal. The comfortable room. One of the eating places ('Paella' or the like) was advertised in the room and in the lifts, but was closed "for the season".
The courteous, efficient, competent staff-- "service- oriented," how refreshing!! Very professional staff. Not a thing! Look forward to my next visit. Best place to stay for London Stansted!
no Sky Sports in room, infrequent transfers
very comfortable bed
Good bed and linnen was probably the best feature of the hotel. The hotel is in need of deep renovation. Especially the bathroom was in a bad condition and only 2 star.
Checked in 2a.m. left 6a.m Very disappointed to get a room with two twin beds. To late in the night to argue. Price for the room was very hig versus accomidation.
We only stayed for one night. Left early in the morning! The bed was ok!
The gym, the bar
Near the Airport Had to pay for the shuttle bus to and from the airport, should be free service. Rooms not as nice as other Hilton hotels.
The staff was amazing! Very accomidating to our every need!
Rooms - too small Breakfast - too expensive for the quality
Very friendly staff. Comfortable and clean room. Good price. Convenient for Stansted Airport.
Clean, near to stansted airport, flexitime of breakfast and check-in No phone into the rooms
Comfortable bed, pleasant staff, breakfast available from 3.30 am, close to Stansted Airport, free wi-fi available. Taxi driver from Stansted Airport knew where to find it easily although I read in reviews on the website that it was hard to find. Shower and basin were blocked up but we were able to have a shower in another room. We arrived about 9 pm and rang the front door bell but no- one came. We rang it another two times and then someone came and said the door is unlocked you are supposed to just walk in. But there should be a sign to say that. Room was quite small and bathroom really tiny.
very helpful manager, lovely breakfast, great value for money
Very pretty guest house near the airport. (with the car 10 minutes), Very clean. Nice receptionist, very kind and helpful. The breakfast room is ready in the morning so you can help yourself with what you wish to eat. Room and bathroom big size. I'll go again. Paola
Nothing Poor state of repair, Buffet B/Fast was crawling with Bugs !!
Hotel's internet wasnt working so they went to the extent of lending me their usb internet stick which was greatly appreciated
Very close to airport,
Staff went out of their way to help us. Bit of a walk (in the cold) to eatery, but then again, an experience in itself.
staff and room were excellent - very friendly and clean place. i was unable to sleep due to noises from other guests, using their bathrooms and my room was close to front door, which slammed all night. I guess if people don't have to catch an early flight and can stay out late, its a great place to stay.
Grounds and building are beautiful, very peaceful. The perfect weekend retreat. Some of the furnishings looked a little worn
Very professional, courteous staff, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable, room service was very good. Wonderful location. There was no lift to our room - but on a positive note the staff were happy to carry our bags up and down the stairs.
Too far away from anything
The very relaxed atmosphere and the good service Bar prices are over priced even by central London standards where I live
Good location for Stansted and still quiet at night.
Very nice hotel for some one stay overnight in Stansted Airport area and want to have a sniff of the English Landlord era.A walk through the hotel and garden is already relaxing before having a drink in the comfortable bar. Helpfull staff . Taxi from Stansted 21 gbp
We liked the history of the hotel and the extreme confort of the hotel, it was a wonderful break feeling like we were in our own bubble for the weekend. We thought the wedding exhibition on in the morning made things a little hectic and the wedding guests in the restuarant also detracted from our relaxed morning.
Comfortable room and dinner was good There is no lift to the 2nd floor (or certainly not that I was told about or directed to); the stair carpet between floors 1 and 2 is v worn; it was rather warm/stuffy in corridors; there is no quick route to car park, guests must walk out of the front and round the Hall to the back for the car park.
The staff is very friendly, the food and accomodation is excellent and the surroundings are beautiful.
The bed in the room was of a very high class. It enabled us to sleep soundly for a refreshing start to the following day. Downs Hall is a period hotel with some astounding features. Visitors still require modern bathroom/shower facilities in their rooms. Downs Hall was lacking in this department.
The Hunters Meet Hotel offered friendly and welcoming staff with good facilities. The four poster room we had was large and well equipped, and the pool area was relaxing.
Fantastic Hotel! Brilliant Food, Superb Friendly Staff, Everything was perfect from the moment I arrived, with a warm welcome, My room was Excellent, And right next to a Beautiful Lesiure centre. This is deffinatley My first choice! Great Value for money! Having To Leave :(
The food was excellent, the staff were very helpul and friendly and the room was very confortable. Loved the pool and gym and overall a very enjoyable stay and will definately be back at some point. Nothing
I really liked the very friendly welcome and customer service. It was a cut above what would normally be expected.
Very kind staffs Some parts of the room were not cleaned properly. Shower wasn't working properly. Breakfast served so slowly, and even the food was so poor.
The friendly staff and the location.
I thought the staff was really excellent and tried to do everything they could to make my stay comfterable
I've never been served such a large Full English Breakfast in my life and it tasted great. Rooms need a little tlc and can be a little noisy.
I was staying at the Hunters Meet for a friends wedding as the reception was held at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. We had a small problem with our room on check in but it was sorted out right away with no bother and the room was well presented and clean. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
A Friend of mine recomended this hotel to me, And It was everything I wanted! Really friendly & Helpful, With a superb Gym & swimming Pool. And They even managed to fit me in for a sports massage after hours. This Is my Number 1 choice for the area! Fantastic Hotel!
Cleanliness, renovated rooms Far from public transport
Everything from start to finish was excellent No bad points room was great clean and beyond our expectations thanks very much for the great service you provided us
Excellent value for money. Very very quiet. Friendly staff.
close to the Airport (10min), free parking, cheap, clean & quiet but basic room, fast food & shops next to the hotel.
Good speedy check in, room small but clean and tidy, plenty of tv channels, a good tea and coffee tray provided, close to the airport its quite noisy with lorries etcI am not a fan of eating at the services!
The room was perfect for my overnight stay and early morning flight. The foodcourt next door was very very handy. The bus service was fab and the bus driver was lovely.
Cleanliness of the room
Cleanliness and comfort, Staff attitude. None to speak of
The proximity to Stansted Airport - perfect for my frequent trips between Europe and the UK
the bed was lumpy with springs coming through and uncomfertable
Very Friendly Staff
Very close to Stansted airport. The corridor outside our room had a smell of mould.
the larghe bathroom!!
It was easy to locate
location near to airport and easy parking.Room is to Days Inn usual high standard and also had free wifi which is excellent. I was a little confused with directions. There are 2 Days Inn's at the service station
Very comfortable, easy to arrange transport to/from airport Front desk staff not very friendly, restaurants on site limited to fast food like KFC.
Friendly staff, convenient Very noisy, terrible bed
Nice staff doing their best. Dirty net curtains with cigarette holes in them. Absolutely unforgiveable neglect of basic needs of acceptable decor. Disrespect for customers. Contempt almost.
Functional and perfect location for airport. No issues
Good location - buses from the airport stop there, my room was upgraded to executive, very comfortable. Noise from nearby motorway, but would be expected, no information whether there is an airport shuttle or not, so had to take taxi from the late flight
Only there for very short time - accessability to the airport good.
Really nice service (incl pick-up from airport); high quality and comfortable room; good breakfast; nice location (beautiful nature around). Very good place for a short stay.
The owner was very pleasant and courteous and went out of her way to help us feel at home. Also the airport runs were on time and not expensive.
Adequate room, warm, cosy & very clean - plenty of hot water! Breakfast was ample. Location to airport was good. Onsite parking. Airport drop-off/pick-up. Local access was closed. A nighmare to all. Beyond owners' control. They were great and even drove ahead to direct me back to main road upon departure. A* for that!
My room was adorable, although it had two beds (a double and a day bed). They taped a note on the door giving me instructions about my room and breakfast the next day because I wasn't going to be getting in until late. I thought this was great! In the morning, I attempted to check out, but no one was there. I was stranded with no way of calling a taxi, and was a twenty minute drive from the airport. I ended up having to flag down a random passerby and ask them to call a cab for me.
The lady drove us to the train station and was very friendly and helpful, food was great, room was nice enough Bathroom needs a renovation (but there was a worker there working on another room while we were there so I think they're on it). Location is not ideal unless you have a car - Taxi cost 17gbp.
I am a frequent traveller and thought that this was the best B&B that I have stayed in around Stansted airport. Breakfast was even available at 04:30 and although only continental there was a very good selection. The B&B is very convenient for the airport and there is a pub directly opposite. My room was excellent it had a full ensuite bathroom with a power shower. I will certainly recommend to my business colleagues.
The easy access to the airport and the inclusive free shuttle service, which was tailored by the hotel manager to meet the needs of all guests the evening before departure. As a US resident I am used to having toiletry items (soap, shampoo, conditioner) etc. supplied by the hotel. They were not supplied at this location. However, this minor inconvenience did not detract from the overall enjoyment of our stay.
Separate accomodation to main house with own front door! Very cosy cottagey fee and friendly accomodating owner The quietness in the breakfast room and lack of non wheat based breakfast options.
We had a very enjoyable experience at Bonnington's. The owners were warm and accomodating and the room was charming, comfortable, and unique. Beautiful area away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby airport.
Fantastic, warm welcome!
Friendly welcome and the rich serve-your-self breakfast
very comfortable, owners friendly and helpful. Family of 5 able to fit in one room which is very rare. Excellent idea for self service buffet breakfast especially when you have early flight. No except hard to find in the dark.
Very comfortable, wonderful landlady, will certainly use again.
Cleanliness and location Cold water supply seemed to be supplied by outdoor tank, the temprature being subject to whatever the weather at the time, as it was 30c the nice cool shower I was looking forward to after a very hot day was a little disapointing.
The attention to detail was impeccable. A lot of thought had gone into providing the "little things" that make a big difference.
The staff were very welcoming. very clean and beautiful scenery. Felt very relaxed.
Nice deep bath - comfotable bed
Only real negative was the bed quilt - very stained and off putting..
value for money
Friendly helpful staff, clean bright spacious room, modern annex to a what is obviously a traditional old country pub. Much better than portrayed on the website. I found the website misleading whether breakfast was included as it said it was then stated that you had to pay. The fact was it was included. No
very friendly staff and exelent food. everything was perfect. will be staying again very soon
A little expensive for the size and type of room.
Very comfortable bed,& quiet room, with excellent cooked breakfast included in the price. Early breakfast times, 7-8.30am on weekdays.
Price was reasonable and beer good Dinner choice was poor and expensive for what you good. The quality of our meals was very poor
Cleanliness and atmosphere of pub Water pressure & Showers ineffective. Tired decor
Very comfortable, very clean, breakfast was excellent cooked to order.Service excellent.
Rooms were big and clean. Pillows particularly comfortable. I suffer from neck problems but had none next morning. Where do you buy them? Bar and pub were a bit of a disappointment and not the historic building I was expecting. Also, bar food only available until 9pm and restaurant shut.
food was excellent
Value for money. Good food Hotel is "tired" - rooms need refurbishment. Restaurant staff need training!
separation of bar and restaurant from the bedrooms
I really liked the place, a quite, out of polution town. everything was ok
Pleasant, medieval ambiance in the main hotel, but modern, comfortable rooms.
The Bathroom could have been cleaner.
functional shower didn't work properly
The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was very clean.
Helpful, friendly staff. Good food.
We used The Willows for overnight accommodation before a flight from Stansted. Despite the proximity to the airport it was very peaceful. The surroundings were beautifully kept with attractive floral displays enhancing the thatched cottage. Transport to and from the airport plus storage of our car were efficient.
The people where very nice and helpfull
good location close to airport, nice room, good transfer service to airport
Excellent. The staffs are very friendly and always ready to pick you up from and to the airport which is very close to the Guest House. They also speak very clear and not to fast, easy to understand if you are not English. Very clean, very beautiful and very comfortable.
Very near to Stansted Airport. No aircraft noise and quiet location. Continental breakfast more than adequate. Unfortunately there was a water main burst in close proximatey to The Willows which had the obvious outcome - no water!! (Not the fault of the owners!)
No WiFi connection.
Everything was provided - hairdryer, iron etc. Location was peaceful. We arrived late in the evening and it was difficult to see the hotel sign from the road in the dark (we drove past it twice).Could have done with the sign illuminated. Neighbours friendly and directed us.
A little sanctuary close to the airport. Attention to detail...
People are very friendly and nice, the room is warmly decorated and very neat and tidy. The bathroom is nice too, it has a good shower. they only make transfers from the guest house to the stansted airport, but not the other way round, so it costs about 7 pounds to get from stansted airport to there.
good service, clean room, easy transport to the airport
We were made to feel welcome from the start, the cleanliness, the facilities , the location and the helpfullness of the owners contributed to a very enjoyable break. We were recommended to try the local pub for our evening meal, this is a must if you stay here, you will not be disappointed, the meals are huge. We would not hesitate to book again when we are next in the area.
It was too far away from the central part of town for lack of transportation.
Very nice people and very friendly atmosphera. I will always stay there whenever I'm in the neighbourhood. Thanks
Nice rooms in a very quiet location (except from the planes from Stansted airport, but we knew about that). Would be great for hiking, but we just stayed for one night. Very nice pub in 10 min walk. Perhaps a bit long from the nearest city if you stay longer.
Very convenient for Stanstead Airport yet quiet. Particularly liked the availability of breakfast at any hour of the morning. Didn't understand King Twin. Would have preferred normal queen size bed, but not very important.
It was convenient and the people helped to promptly get me to the airport. Paola and her husband were very kind. P.S.-They have a lovely Labrador dog named Blaze!!
The owners were teriffic. Will stay there again.
Very clean. Felt cozy. Landlady very nice and chatty, very helpful too. Great breakfast! B&B offers a free shuttle service, only TO the airport though. Mattress with springs (and you can feel them) and distance from the Airport (18£ ish by taxi).
good location, nice rooms, nice place and very friendly hostess
Having arrived at Latchmead after a 14-hour flight from Kuala Lumpur, I found it just perfect in terms of both thoughtful reception and the chic room I was given. Situated very close to the airport, Latchmead definitely makes you feed at home, as all your needs are more than taken care of but really, anticipated and attended to at the highest level. Hope you enjoy your experience there as much as I did!
