5.0 Okay
Pros: The location and the view is spectacular. The swimming pool and gym were excellent.
Cons: The restaurant service was slow and the food was repetitive i.e. same menu both nights and second night ran out of one of the deserts.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location is fab, we love peebles and know the area so its a great wee retreat. Room is a good size. Lady who provided the massage was great, just a shame the rest of the staff weren't as she was so lovely and provided a great service.
Cons: The staff from the offset made me feel uncomfortable. Had to wait for over 10 mins to be served despite being second in the que. My partner had booked us both treatments and cream tea for the following day and when I asked about it she was like "no", couldn't provide any information - made my partner believe he had done something wrong when booking. When he had the confirmation email she just said "oh tomorrow, yeh, go downstairs to spa" - again, not helpful. Spa facilities aren't great - pools cold and again staff at desk werent great. We stay with macdonald hotels quite often so really not best please with the service.
6.0 Good
Pros: Very comfortable bed.
Cons: We attended an event the evening of our stay. The female bar staff on the night seemed very stressed, which reflected off them when serving guests. This caused them to be quiet rude.

Pros: The hotel and surrounding area are ideal for a relaxing stay, quiet and excellent for walking and cycling

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The central location was excellent for the town and for the surrounding area. The bed was very comfortable.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: it was a very relaxing stay. The location and hotel were excellent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great decor, quirky. The staff were all superb. The acceptance, in fact welcomeness of dogs in the hotel is better than anywhere we have ever been. Absolutely brilliant. The food should also get a mention - very good menu, all cooked wonderfully. Dining in the bar allows you to have your dog with you at mealtimes too!
Cons: It’s not that it wasn’t liked, but it was a bit of a nuisance - the shower being run off the bath mixer tap made keeping the temperature ok trickier than we would have liked! To be honest though, we can forgive that as everything else was so good!!!!

Pros: Great location, clean and friendly staff. Due to the coronavirus and pressure from family we left a day early. Nothing to do with the hotel. We have stayed a few times and will definitely be back when things are back to normal.
Cons: Only one small complaint, didn't like the shower. Very flimsy and not much pressure. Everything else was perfect.

Pros: Can’t recommend enough. From our first point of arrival the lady on the front desk came out to the car park to welcome us and then showed us to the cottage which just exceeded our expectations. The hot tub with the views was an added bonus and the cost bathrobes and slippers were dreamy! The gardens are stunning too. The staff couldn’t do enough for us the whole time and we felt like we were the only guests by how personal they made the experience even though their hotel was really full. Best breakfast I have had and my friend with very specific dietaries was more than happy, they even had vegan butter for her!! Superb. Can’t wait to go back. 9.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a warm and friendly welcome when we arrived and straight away got the impression that the staff would go above and beyond to make our stay a lovely one! Will definitely be returning!
Cons: That we couldn't stay longer!
6.3 Good
Pros: The bedrooms were cosy.
Cons: Separate restaurant building from bedrooms means that if the weather is wild you can get soaked going from one to the other. The breakfast on the first day was poor and we decided not to have breakfast on the second day as a result. I made the owner aware of the badly cooked eggs, the lukewarm coffee and generally poor breakfast buffet when he asked why we weren’t going to have breakfast the second morning. He took on board what I told him but did not offer to refund the cost which was £11 per head. We had been asked to pay the whole amount on the first night which is unusual. We won’t be back, unfortunately.
