Hertz in Europe is not the Hertz in USA but seems to be the low cost option. Terrible drop off locations. Will try to claim damage to car or tires. We were lucky our photos showed all the damage was preexisting. Need photos of tires too!Reviewed 6 Oct 2024

Minutes after receiving the rental, the oil light came on. We called the Hertz representative right away in case the car needed to be serviced. The representative assured us that it was safe to drive for more than 900km. However, on the night of 2 October, while in a small town in the Dolomites, our car broke down at 10:30pm after we came back from dinner and the car would not start. I immediately attempted to contact emergency services for rescuing until 12AM, but they were unable to recover the vehicle that night. This left us stranded in the rain an hour away from our hotel forcing us to stay at a nearby hotel. The next morning, we began calling the international and road side assistance team at 7am. Despite attempting to contact your team 20 times, we only managed to speak with someone from Hertz once, who asked us to call back in 5 minutes. When we called back there was no answer. Considering we were on travel and had to get to Milan for our return flight home, we were left with no other solution then to leave the car where it is and travel by train instead at 12pm. I was most disappointed to receive an email from Hertz stating there was damage to the vehicle. They have taken photos of my new blemishes on the rims that were already there. They have also identified an area on the back quarter panel near a rear light where there was pre-existing damage. Luckily, I have a video and photos showing all of the damage, that was already there. Just really disappointed that hurts is another one of the rental agency companies that is trying to charge their customers the deductible for minor things or items that were already on the vehicle. This is happened multiple times to me when travelling to Italy and it is a real disappointment.Reviewed 4 Oct 2024

I think I'll avoid electric cars for a while longer. Trying to charge that car prior to its return was a challenge. I don't believe we as a country already to go all electric yet.Reviewed 4 Oct 2024

My only issue was not being to rent the car due to my Drivers license expiring the next day the 29th. Was unable to extend rental - Toronto Pearson Hertz office locked the account and the contact center could not extend the rental when I had caught Covid and could not return on the original date. The number Hertz contact center gave me to call was continually busy - I called 98 times over 2 days with no luck. Contact center supervisor could put a message on the account but I was still charged a late fee which the returning agent did reverse. Also received the car with 1/8 of a tank of gas - had to find a gas station before I could travel and then of course could not return the car with the same amount of gas - too close to empty.
