there were no cars available., 2 clerks spent their time with one customer on questions one could have handled. we were ignored, and we were the only other ones in there. After 20 minutes one said "be with you in a minute" - we were all within 3 feet of each other. finally one asked what we wanted, we said we had a 10:30 reservation, then they said there were no cars. we again explained we had a reservation for a 10:30a pick up. They said people were extending their times and they'd put us on a waiting list but would probably be 4;30 at the earliest. There were cars in the lot. they said they weren't available. They did not offer to help us find anything anywhere else. Had a "too bad - nothing we can do" attitude. kept looking at their phones and computers. Then at 11:30 left, with us still inside on our own trying to find another car rental place with availability, they left. They shad our contact info and should have let us know in advance there would be no cars available. We had taken public transportation to get there as neither of us had a car. We ended up renting from Enterprise. I will never use Hertz again and am skeptical about using Kayak again for car rentals. You should have a policy that the rental companies you offer are required to notify customers if there will be a delay in obtaining their rental vehicle. We wasted over 2 hours trying to rent a car and missed our appointment for which we needed the car. Very poor experience.Reviewed 2 Sept 2026

Horrible experience. I prepaid for a car and when I went to pick it up they told me they had no cars. Did nothing to try and help me and I’m still fighting with hertz to get me money back. They suck.Reviewed 26 Sept 2025

I took an Uber that cost me $55 and came to pick up the car. They told me they don't have a car available for me and this was a non-refundable booking. And the person helping me wasn't nice about it all. This experience has been both inconvenient and disappointing.Reviewed 16 Jul 2024

Even though I had a confirmation from Hertz, when I arrived at the location they specified, there was no car. The people who worked there were rude, loud, unhelpful. They told me my best option was to take an Uber 40 mins north to another location ($100 Uber ride). So not use this service! And do not if you can help it try to rent a car from Hertz in Tacoma because a reservation means 0.Reviewed 21 Feb 2024

I reserved a car through kayak, made plans dependent on that car, then was told an hour before picking up the car that there were no cars available. Never renting a car through Hertz or Kayak again !Reviewed 18 Feb 2024

I made the reservation for 12 noon on 12/16. We got there at 12:05 and the office closed at 12:00. They would not allow us to rent the car. Your website did not mention that the particular location closed at 12 pm. I should not have been able to make the reservation for 12 since they closed at 12.
