I thought it was a lovely budget hotel and the location to all the attractions was perfect. I would recommend this hotel to travellers. I didn't like that I had to pay inflated prices because the festival was on. Also I took I'll with a bug so didn't have as good as stay as planned. Nothing to do with the hotel I might add.
It was situated in a perfect place, a stones throw from the bus stop for the airport shuttle & from princes street. The room was stylish and could only have been made better by placing plugs in better location. . Overall 9/10, only slight issue was plug situation and breakfast was expensive
the bathroom was really dark with only lights over the wash basin. a large water stain on the ceiling was not very attractive!
Room very nice. cleanliness of room excellent. Staff friendly and helpful.Close to shops and visitor attractions.
Rapid sorting out/ upgrade when the door lock to out room failed The fact thaty the door lock failed
The views of Edinburgh
The view of Edinburgh castle was out of this world.
Ideal city location for theatre, dinining and shopping.
At arrival we were met in the parking lot by a very friendly man tha helped us with our luggage. The staff at the receptiondesk was very nice. The room was exellent. In the bathroom we were delighted to see a rubber duckling on top of the towels across the bath! It's the little things that count!
It has a great location, with lovely views of the castle and lots of food and bars nearby.
Convenience of location As I had a front room over a weekend, the noise from the pubs in Grassmarket was a bit much.
Staff were lovely. Looking a bit tired. Desk in room had big scratch on it. Also, on a previous stay breakfast was on the top floor which was lovely. This time we were in the lower part of the ground floor restaurant. The continental breakfast choice was quite poor considering the price. The toast was merely warmed up bread and coffee wasn't particularly hot. My elderly parents in their 80s, who were also staying, were unable to shower as they couldn't get in or out of the very steep sided bath.
view of castle from hieghts restaurant, location of hotel No fridge in room no radio having to pay for breakfast having to pay for internet access lifts very poor (not updated since previous college use) no air conditioning control windows not double glazed - noise, draughts
peace and quiet
An amazing hotel, all staff extremely frendly and professional
The quality of the facilities & the standard of the presentation together with friendly staff. First class food and service in relaxed well-appointed surroundings.
As a guest being asked to pay extra for the basic spa facilities
The room was excellent. The staff were vert welcoming. Although we arrived at 12pm and our checkin wasnt till 3pm they still allowed us into our room. We enjoyed everything about it.
Our room was totally amazing and thoroughly enjoyed the view too. I found the website mislead me to believe the spa included the Infinity pool/spa, only to find out this was an extra £30 p/p on top, which I found totally disappointing!
friendliness and helpfulness of staff spa facilities
Excellent hotel & facilities. Modern, spacious interior. Complementary wifi, pool, + gym. Very helpful staff. Spa and breakfast are typically not included, but upgrade is possible for 90 GBP per day for 2 people. This includes access to the club lounge, the spa, unlimited drinks and snacks from 5:30-7:30pm, and breakfast in the lounge in the morning. If you wanted a greater selection for the breakfast, you could pay 5 GBP more per person for the breakfast at the One Square restaurant downstairs which includes a quite large selection of hot options and a large continental breakfast. All in all, the food and drinks were amazing. The spa was great - there is a heated hydropool and then multiple types of rooms around it: hammam, rock sauna, aromatherapy room, biosauna, etc. The location is a little further from the city center than I initially anticipated, but it wasn't a huge problem. It was about a 15-20 minute walk to the Edinburgh Castle and 20-30 if walking at a brisk pace to George St, Princes St, etc. where all the shops are. There isn't much to do around the hotel itself, particularly at night - it seems like a business neighborhood + convention center next door.
Very pleasant, efficient staff. A sense of 'grandness'! Breakfast seemed a little on the expensive side.
the bed was comfortable, and easy access to city centre the bedroom was not what we expected, the decor needed maintained again in the bathroom, and the food was not to standard as we ordered and the food was served raw
Great central hotel with fabulous luxury rooms and bathrooms Charges for movies/music very expensive
So very central. Useful to be able to get to the Waverley Station via the lower back door which was just a case of crossing the road to the station. Would be useful to enable access for booking into the hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly with no exceptions. There was no 'heart' to the hotel. No where to sit peacefully other than the Bistro which was open to other customers and did not have seats to lounge in.
Beautiful, excellent location No coffee or non caloric sweetener in room
All of the staff where extremely helpful.
Friendly helpful staff, very comfortable room, excellent service
Using the Vermillion lounge in the evening for a quiet drink was very pleasant. The Scottish chap with very short hair who attends the door in reception is a great asset to the hotel. We came accross him on several occasions he was always helpful, pleasant, professional and friendly, give him a large pay rise!!!! We had some difficulty getting drinks in the Vermillion lounge. I dialed the number on the card as suggested but no answer. The chap from Chile who is studying for a Master in economic development sorted us out in the end, another significant asset for you hotel I hope you look after him
The helpful staff Could benefit from air conditioning
The quality fo the room was excellent and the free upgrade was very much appreciated, as were all the little extra touches. The breakfast.
We were upgraded to the publisher suite which was spacious and atmospheric. This really helped to make toe stay memorable. The staff were friendly and obliging. Overall an excellent service.
Staff welcoming and courteous. Good size rooms and facilities excellent
Everything!!!! The staff were excellent throughout- ur room was very spacious with a brilliant view over Edinburgh. Restaurant and bar were fabulous and enjoyed having the luxury of the spa right on the doorstep. Fabulously central location.
the staff were extremly friendly
The location of the hotel was good Hilton are using there brand to sell below standard rooms. I would never stay here again
Good reception we arrived early room ready and all very efficient similarly check out very efficient Breakfast, we were put in a cold room, toast took an age to produce , one poor machine and when we left the queue was 25 yards long to get in for breakfast
Delightful! We hope to return to Edinburgh one day, and when we do, we will stay at the Caledonian. Couldja make it stop raining?
nothing It is a very old Hotel .It needs to be renovated urgently .The toilet flush is broken , noisy AC , non hot water avaliablility ( it was for a limited time but not expected from a five star Hotel ) . The staff talk without looking at your face with an unfriendly manner . The pool is again too old and need to be renewed so that the price paid to the Hotel is too much in comparison what you get .
Absolutely everything. I had always wanted to stay at the hotel and t lived up to all of my expectations The only thing I would change would have been to have a bigger bed in our room. Kingsize just wasn't big enough!!
The grandeur, the comfort, the facilities, the location, the staff. The leisure complex is a little tired, but pleasant nonetheless!
The room was quiet and had a lovely view of Edinburgh. The staff were very helpful and the standard of cleanliness excellent. The leisure facilities were of a high standard also. The price of breakfast seemed high even for the standard of hotel.
Everything was great except bed was very uncomfortable
The friendly and welcoming attitude of the staff, in particular the concierge. The have maintained the standard of the hotel since changing to a Hilton. It was well located for walking to Murrayfield for rugby.
excellent staff shame about the hotel. qeues for brakefast, electrcity cutting out in the room due to faulty wiring. not a five star as far as i could see gets the rating on facilitys rather than class,
Service and attention to detail Nothing to report
Room was very comfortable. There was lots of choice for breakfast. The hotel location was very good for castle and other attractions. We were near lots of restaurants.
The upgraded room was appreciated we will stay here again. Did not have breakfast - thought that £16.50 was expensive
The room There was a refurb going on so had to put up with constant drilling was not relaxing
Central location, valet parking
Large, confortable rooms. Located within walking distance to all city attractions Noice from neighbouring pubs at night/early morning.
good facility. hospitallity of staffs. and location. somehow internet is not working properly good in both case of WIFI nor Wired connection.
the proximity to the main Edinburgh attractions, parking availability, supply of extra pillows, big rooms.
Easy to drive to and park my car. Ideal city centre location. Exclusive hotel for a rugby supporter's weekend.
Good car parking. Close to city center. Great breakfast. Frendley staff
Efficient, slightly impersonal, no problems I resent the fact that they doubled the prices of their rooms during the Edinburgh Festival. I also think for the price breakfast should be included.
Rooms were lovely and beds very comfy. Bathroom very modern and shower was amazing. Requested an iron in the room prior to arrival but it wasn't there. The heating came on at 6am and was very noisy. This woke my partner and I up and we couldn't get back to sleep with the noise. The tea/coffee machine in the room did not work. Left my straighteners behind in the room but when I contacted the hotel to enquire about this they said they checked and they were not there. That is a mystery to me.
Attention to detail, throughout the hotel
Very friendly and efficient staff. Luxurious contemporary feel / look. Nice breakfast. Upgrade unexpected, but very much appreciated - nice touch. Difficult to get room wamer with controls. was not freezing cold but my wife would have preferred it warmer. Couldn't seem to watch different channels on the different TV's at the same time, but this may not have been possible anyway!
was very noisy, did not receive free paper that we were offered.. Design was nice but that should not qualify for a 5 stars, was 3/4..
the hotel is stunning, very unique, modern and a great place to chill out after being round the shops in edinburgh
The design of the hotel was really modern but still comfortable. When we arrived I was not expecting to have £100 per night deducted from my bank account, especially since we had already paid for it in full. Fine if you have a credit card as you dont notice the money leaving your a/c (its refunded when you check out) but if you dont have a credit card (I dont) then they ask for a debit card which means that you are money short in your account. If this had been mentioned prior to booking then maybe I would have reconsidered staying there. Its ok if they had just taken the card details but to acutally take the money was unexpected and quite unfair to say that we had already paid for the room etc. There was no warning of this and it was lucky that I had plenty of funds in the account!
The room was excellent , staff were extremely helpful and polite .
The comfortable rooms and central location and choice to stay in the Hotel or not.
Central location, especially for the Tatoo Hardest bed we have seen on this month long trip. Inadequate luggage racks or space for clothing storage. It would be ok for an over nighter but not for someone on a long trip. Out of 6 hotels we have stayed in so far on this trip, your was the only one without a bath tub.
beautiful design, great location, friendly and helpful staff
Fresh looking hotel Tv did not work despite changing rooms. No fresh black pepper or brown sauce available at breakfast. Waiter unable to confirm the Scottish Breakfast ingredients. Unable to access restaurant from lift as doors locked.
location, standard of accommodation bedrooms were very warm even with no heating on. We were unable to open a window due to noise on street. This was a minor complaint.
enjoyed the comfort and eating at the restaurant
Brilliant location for all the reasons anyone would visit Edinburgh - sites shops reatauramts
almost everything the cooked breakfast wasn't hot enough
The hotel was in central Edinburgh and close to all the attractions.the room was very spacious Lack of parking as public parking very expensive.
The whole hotel experience at the George Hotel was completely faultless. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The rooms were spotless, warm and very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. The flight was cancelled on our return and had to stay at the George Hotel an extra night, the staff welcomed us back with mulled wine! Excellent stay, thank you.
From the minute I walked into the hotel I felt very welcomed. The staff were attentive and perfectly freindly and professional. I travel alot internationally and truthfully feel that this was one of the best hotel experiences I've had in my life. Being that I do travel alot, it means the world when you can sleep peacefully in extreme comfort. From arrival to departure the George was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it and will return there when in Edinburgh. A gentleman named " Willy" was a gem, very helpful. Thank You.
The hotel kindly acknowledged our anniversary. All the staff were wonderful.
very enjoyable stay in a superb hotel, excellent meals, very helpful staff, nothing too much trouble to make our stay memorable
I booked a room at The George Hotel as a special birthday treat for my husband. I wanted somewhere right in the city and this was the perfect location, we even managed to find a parking space! The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and the bed was possibly the most comfortable I have ever stayed in!
Location, cleanliness and the staff who welcomed at door. They have a great manner and seem genuinely want to please guests. Reception staff need much more warmth, smile more and actually treat people as such. Rooms clean bu quite small for price - felt a little cramped at time.
Location. Friendly Staff. The new bar/restaurant area looks good however the only downside is the seating area near the bar soon filled up and even though there were empty tables on the lower floor level there seemed to be a reluctance to give these to guests who just wanted a drink. The reception area is still going through refurbishment which meant long queues soon began to build up when guests began arriving in numbers which was an inconvenience to be honest. No doubt this will be resolved when the work is completed.
Hotel staff are very attentive and quality of the meals excellent.
Everything about this hotel is fantastic, and consistently so. The service in particular is always outstanding.
very very good had all we required Evert up its standard
Lovely room, thoughtfully decorated, wonderful service.
The One restaurant has excellent and unusual food servewd by impecably trained servers.
the staff were lovely booked double executive room, but think we got a budget room double bed two different height mattresses. asked them to sort it, they didnt. bathroom poor room smaller than stated in description
The restaurant "Number one": excellent staff, good food. The location of the hotel and the view on the old city. Very noisy hotel, not enough privacy: train station beneath the hotel, doors being smashed all day, staff knocking on doors to check on the room too often. The room had not been refurbished in a very long time. The bed was not particularly confortable. Much too expensive for the service provided and quality of the rooms.
Zoltan at reception was a star. The restaurant and bar team were efficient and friendly. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Looking forward to our next visit
Friendly staff. Very well appointed rooms
The hotel was modernly decorated and the rooms were of excellent quality and the food was of constant high standard
Good locatioin, friendly staff, breakfast excellent, room comfortable Very small car park
Helpful staff Modern decor and beautiful view of the castle Noisy guests sitting in the lounge area on 4th floor just outside our bedroom.
Very central to Edinburgh, very nice pubs nearby and easy walk to all of the tourist sections of the town. Very helpful staff and very nice breakfast.
We love the beds and the huge wide screen TV! It was a little far from Waverley station, had to climb up and down a hill to get to the hotel!
The location of the hotel is fantastic. Everything one needs to see in Edinburgh is within walking distance. Our room was spacious and towards the back of the building, so there was no noise coming from Grassmarket at all although we stayed there for the weekend.
They had parking, toiletries were good the fridge was only a cooler and it would have been nice to have a proper cold fridge. Breakfast quite expensive.
Hotel is better than i expect, warmer, clener, and quiet Breakfast is quit expensive, compering what you get.
Helpful staff, clean rooms, good location
Excellent room. Sauna, steam room & pool facilities very good.
Beautiful, brand new hotel. Our city double room was lovely and fairly spacious. Staff were lovely, very pleasant and helpful. None really, other than we didn't receive our complimentary newspaper, but we weren't bothered enough about it to enquire.
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
the pool and breakfast in bed friendly staff lack off parking for near hotel access also i bumpd the back of my car parking outside as you have to reverse park on a busy road!
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the spa was very relaxing.
Staff were wonderfully helpful. The fitness room was very well-appointed. There was no chair (except for the desk chair) in the room, and the restaurant could use some improvement in quality.
The location of the hotel is perfect to enjoy Edimburgh, very clean hotel and the staff was very good, also the cocktails are well worth a try! It was a very good stay, if anything the hotel should install doubble glazing or double windows, also having to queue for breakfast in a 4 star hotel is not really good so make the most of the breakfast in your room for an extra £2.50, that was perfect and on time! no queue!
the hotel was central comfortable good facilities and hotel staff v.ery helpful and courteous
Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! Lighting was rather dim & furniture was slightly dusty.
Central Location - 1 min from bus & train station, shopping centre, pubs & restaurants, Spa Facilities and Staff were also excellent
Superb staff who did everything they could to help us enjoy our stay, lovely room, quiet location and only a 5 minute walk to Princes Street. Parking is a wee bit limited, but again the staff helped out and the problem disappeared. No issues at all.
level of amenities and comfort, also excellent staff
Quiet, spacious, comfortable No hotwater on evening or following morning,so had to have tepid shower and bath. Only glass wall between our room and hall so could be seen going between bedroom and bathroom from outside!!! cleaner arrived 2 hours before checkout to deliver equipment to clean room, visible through glass wall.
Excellent facilities, faultless service. Outstanding.
The cosiness of the room was really nice yet it had all mod cons; also private access to our own walled garden! The shower was very nice indeed as was the bath. Both made all the better by the soap. On a further note, the tea and coffee making facilities were exceptional! :) and we very much approved of the fruit in the fridge.
Luxury hotel, perfect stay.
It was very good. Affordable and reasonable luxury, perfect location for shopping and edinburgh landmarks exploration. We hardly used public transport during our stay. Excellent staff. Would surely stay again.
Very Personal touch. Very clean. Nicely stocked kitchen. Graham is an extremely helpful person. None
Size of apartment, features
The Howard was staffed by friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff. We didn't dine but breakfast was delicious and we will be back to sample the afternoon tea!
The Howard has an amzing "butler" system where a number of butlers attend to your every need. They are the most accommodating small hotel that we have ever stayed in. It is like being in an upper class private British home with elegant surroundings and service to match. Absolutely nothing.
I felt very comfortable from the first time. It was like I was staying in a house and not in a hotel. Big room, mighty lighting, good service. Tasteful breakfast but very small portions. Order more than 3 dishes!
personal service, beautiful room, excellent breakfast menu, attention to detail.
Greeting very good. Overall impression, beautiful decor rooms and very helpful staff, intimate home from home feeling. Breahfast choice and quality very good, I appreciate it was cooked to order but took a little longer than to arrive than we hoped. We had a train to catch and had allowed one hour for breakfast and had to rush our food.
The service was beyond my expectations, I loved my stay in the Howard The fact I had to leave
Excellent service and very responsive and warm.
Beautiful building, large room, excellent staff, fine food no problems
It was a wonderful hotel. The staff was great, the service was excellent.the location was wonderful.
It takes an enormous effort to make hospitality appear this seamless. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much effort, yet everything was done with a discretion that made our stay a truly pleasurable experience. Leaving.
Comfortable and convenient for the airport The internet access was annoying. Why not have free Wi-Fi in the rooms?
Convenience for the airport. Staff friendly and helpful. Double curtains which made room dark - well done! Tasty food quickly served up. choice of wine by the glass - always a bonus. A wee bit cold in the restaurant but refurbishment was going on so perhaps that contributed to the temperature.
Room was comfortable and the staff was friendly
The proximity to the airport, also the expediency of the early A.M. shuttle. The temperature. a complaint you may not want, however, you need to know that a) my room was freezing cold, b) the tv wakeup system did not work. Sorry, poor. I will again be travelling in January and unsure whether or not to stay at your airport hotel again.
good location, especially since we wanted to catch an early morning flight. Restaurant was quite good... very nice rooms
The pool and leisure facilities. The breakfast!!!!!!!! The cobwebs in the room
pool and breakfast air conditioning noisy and very hot if not on.
Check in Service, slow, inattentive
Staff were excellent, and friendly, breakfast very good. Nice eating/drinking area near reception. Airport shuttle bus service very good. Room was clean but very tired, needs updating. Public area toilets were dirty on my arrival in the evening, they were even worse the next morning after breakfast.
We enjoyed our evening meal very much - quality of food and service was very good. I was unable to get a cooked breakfast early in the morning - we were embarking on a very long flight and required something more than rolls etc
I found the hotel ideal for catching an early morning flight The bar area was too impersonnal, lacking any atmosphere. The toilets in the room were in need of some TLC..!
Had to queue for breakfast.
Bed was very comfy N/A
no shuttle bus to airport as was advertised on booking.com website - this was one of main reasons for wanting to stay at hotel!
Was very nice and didn't have any major issues and bein able to go for breakfast between 8 and 12 was great meant I could have a long lie and go down at 11.45 for breakfast Instructions on how to work the heating weren't very clear but the room was comfortably warm although the duvet was a bit heavy for me but overall was a great nights stay
The hotel was well equipt and overall the service was good. The car parking was plentiful. The hotel is slightly out of the city centre only accessable by train and bus routes. large scale developments are taking place around the hotel connecting the city centre by tram.
cleanliness, the fact that everything was new. bit far from city centre, though train stop nearby
Excellent staff, warm and caring. Easy access in edinburgh so close to rail link, and motorway. Menu was good and food excellent. No there were one or two teething problem with the plumbing and windows, but as a new building these were minor and rectified immediately.
It has great location between airport and city centre both only ten minutes by train or taxi. Also swiming pool is undoubtedly great thing in cold scottish evenings with steam room. I loved it and had a great time. Breakfast should be cheaper and in restaurant prices are too big. And free wifi defenately should be.
The room was lovely and great value for money, the staff were always happy to help and the pool and steam room were great to relax in. The location was perfect as it was right next to the train station easy to travel into endinburgh for £2.50 return. only problem was we didn't stay long enough!! Would love to go back!
All of the above ! Taxi drivers could not find it !
The Novotel Edinburgh Park was a modern and clean hotel with friendly, efficient staff. Overall, we enjoyed our two night stay and would recommend it to friends/ would return. It's location would suit anyone wanting to stay fairly close to the city without staying in the city itself. We stayed with our 2 year old girl, and found the hotel catered well for her needs, providing a high chair and cot. The room service meal was very disapointing, especially considering the price! The air conditioning was too noisey to leave on during the night, and because the room was very warm, it was needed. The 'area dedicated to children' consisted of a table, chairs and a bookshelf. Based on the rest of the hotel, we would have expected something more, e.g softplay or indoor play area.
