i very much appreciated your upgrading me to a corner room which i have enjoyed during a previous visit (room 909). for several years i stayed elsewhere in manila because i did not like the room assigned to me. but this time i was very happy -- thank you. no complaints...i was very happy at the EDSA shangri-la this visit.

Very good breakfast and gym. Very friendly personal. The booking price was given in U.S. dollars but final settlement can only be done in pesos (PHP). This becomes a problem when the hotel uses an exchange rate of 50 (correct official rate is about 46 - the official exchange rate at the front desk is about 47 something). I spent a lot of time arguing about why I would not just pay an additional 50 US$ for my stay because of this - I had to discuss it 3 times until it was eventually fixed, but I was very late for my plane because of it (even though I had gone twice before checking out to make sure it was ok!). This is my only complaint about the hotel which is otherwise very good. Just make sure you do not pay overprice because of the exchange rate also.
I could not say anothing bad about my stay. It is my favorite hotel in Manila. We showed up 4 hours early and was able to get a room hours before check in time. I was also upgraded to a better room since they ran out of regular rooms for us. The guess relations person who helped us was very helpful and pleasant. We had a great stay and the Chi spa was an awesome experience. Though it was on the expensive side, it was well worth it. Bit on the expensive side.
Nothing Horrible nightmare. They threw me out on the street due to a glitch in kayaks own get a room site. Get a room claims that my credit card had issues, which Is inaccurate. On the second day of my stay, they told me to pay double or go. What a disaster! The manager on duty showed no compassion to make a common sense decision to charge me the agreed upon rate with a new credit card. They refused to do something so simple and off I went onto the street. I will never stay at a shangri la again, the makati property gave similar problems to me and I had to pay twice in order to stay there since it was 11 pm. Shangri la is not shangri la . It is hell.

The hotel was clean and the employees were warm. I wish salmon was served during breakfast.Overall our stay was great, the taxes at the restauarant wereridiculous. What was a 12% tax for at the restaraunt.. Extreme Taxes.
The rooms are big and the housekeeping is very quick to do their daily cleanings. The staff is friendly and the overall experience is very pleasant. For such a nice hotel and the amount you pay, they charge a lot for additional services. For instance, they don't even provide you with free wifi in the rooms! And for a 15-30 minute transport from the airport, they charge a ridiculous amount!
Lobby and reception 1. Pathetic rooms. Old rooms stink like dead animals. Bathrooms are small and badly lit. 2. Staff was even worse. Checked into room no. 1112 which was smelling like a dead mice. Complained took 30 minutes to respond and then offered me another room which was even worse, then moved me into a room which was like a hole in the wall on the 15th floor. The duty manager was rude and just kept saying due to renovation there is smell and that i booked a delux room hence i get a smelly room. And believe me i not a very finicky guy. 3. I would say this hotel for its lobby reception security and breakfast at best qualifies to be a 3.5 star.

The service at the 10th floor. They did not keep the standard of the food service the same in their buffet . I would rate them at most a 3.5 Also when I was upgraded my room they told me and gave me a sheet of paper telling me I can stay until 4pm. Next day ,but they reneged and extended my stay until 1 pm.
Breakfast is always grand in this property I was checked in to a room with multiple problems namely: lighting was not working, AC was not working, the bathroom and the room itself have foul stench, carpet was dirty and the balcony has not been swept for a while. I had to call at least 7x to speak with the manager and wait 3 hours to be moved to a new room. When I asked if I was given a deluxe room the response I received was more infuriating, it was a blunt NO. I was given a standard room and my deluxe room was given to someone else. When the manager realized that she could not convince me to stay in a dirty room she finally decided to change my room. I am a frequent stayer since 2013 but due to this unforgettable experience I will not be coming back.
The service was beyond attentive. As an example, we didn't just lie bedside the excellent pool... We were constantly served besides this pool, and often with freebies.
The tennis court, the pool, newer building, everything seemd to work well. Live band at night. You cant walk into metro manila like at other hotels, this can be good or bad depending on what you want to do. This is a non factor i think if you were with a family. Hot water took a long time to get hot.
As an experienced traveller, the minute I stepped foot in Sofitel Plaza hotel, another chapter was added to my worldly experience. The lovely flowers display at the foyer added an elegant touch to the entrance. The spacious and comfortable room has a delightful view and room service was impeccable. The breakfast offered a wide selection of international cuisines which were both tempting and delicious. Last but not least, the comfortable chairs in the garden which pampered the guests to no end. A job well done and I thank you for a most enjoyable stay.

I liked the rooms, restaurants, pool area. Service in the pool area, difficulties in payments with foreign credit cards, miss information in front desk, communication between the workers from shift to shift was poor, airplane noise time to time was too loud.
Sunset at Manila Bay is awesome, you don't need to get out of the place to experience. Staff very friendly and attentive. Will stay again.

Nice clean newer hotel! Like most hotels in Manila Area , they are starting to charge a premium like they are New York or Paris ect! It's still the Philippines but poeple are coming and paying these prices so I really can't blame them! I just don't see it, coming here the last 15yrs! the traffic is impossible, so plan on walking!
Continental Club buffet was excellent. The view from rm 4216 was bad -- the side of the next building. The hallway was dim and the light switch didn't work. The bathroom floor had pee stains around the toilet. The speakers in the bathroom were loud and could not be modulated. The room temperature was cold and The AC controls were not intuitive. It's like they just dump you into the room and left you to figure out how to work things out. I thought of asking for another room but it was too much of a bother for a one night stay.
The Peninsula is the best hotel in Manilia as far as I'm concerned
5 adults, 1 child. Even though the hotel was about 40 yrs old, it was wonderful to stay here. The staff was nice and professional. Rooms were very comfortable. The amenities were great. The ambience was great, made me feel welcomed. They even added extra bed to a 2-bed deluxe room for us... I don't remember asking for one. Thank you Peninsula. Shower area in the bathroom made me feel cramp and enclosed.
Breakfast was lovely. The variety of food available was good for all meals. The gym is excellent. Room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very nice and there was a nightlight, a nice touch all too often neglected. It's a very nice hotel and I would go back! But.... WIFI access ends the moment you check out. Immediately. Which means that even if you check out at 9am and could have checked out at noon, no wifi for you as of 9am. Hopefully you don't have to call a cab or write a memo. Perhaps you were thinking of a leisurely breakfast in the lobby after checking out while reading the paper online. Nope. In 2015, when you pretty much assume that internet access is available for a reasonable amount of time, that's a pretty strong negative. The staff was far too eager to serve and frankly, a bit overbearing. The first day, I had two members of staff burst into my room while I was in the bathroom (pretty bad luck, I suppose), one without knocking, the other with just a cursory knock and a half second wait. I learned to lock and chain the door and put on the DND light right away. Once I forgot the DND light but locked the door... Ooops! So while I was taking a nap, I got someone knocking at the door for 2 minutes till I got up so they could give me bottles of water. Eating in one of the restaurants requires that you keep a tight grip on your plate or glass if you are having a leisurely meal... a waiter is likely to swoop down and take it away before you can say a word, if they feel you are done, whether at breakfast, lunch, or dinner. While eating, one waiter after another will come over to ensue that you are enjoying your meal, interrupting a quiet evening, over and over again. The service has good intentions, but really needs to back off a bit.

The lobby is very nice. Nice room and room service, it's up to a 5 star standard. Why the staff cannot get me a taxi when I need to go to airport ? Asked me to use Uber and which I did. However, I am from United States and Philippines not accepting my form of payment and not able to request one. The staff suggest we just stand there and wait until a taxi come by.. end up I followed up myself after 20 minutes of wait; going back to concierge and ask them to grab me a local Uber... waited for another 20 minutes to catch one...cannot believed peninsula is so behind at this area !!

Hotel lobby and restaurant interior is impeccable. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive to my needs. Location is not quite convenient for shopping. Hotel is located across the shopping centers, but crossing the busy streets of Manila. is not for the faint of heart. I ended up writing a cab. The taxi drivers were fine with the short distance.

I had forgotten to pack my running T-shirt and shorts when i checked out. I only realised when i was already in a cab to another city. I called the hotel and told them that I had forgotten the T-shirt and shorts and if they could kindly keep it for me as I was coming back to Makati a few days later. When I went to collect my T-shirt and shorts, they were washed and nicely folded and packed for me. This was definitely a gesture that was not expected and a welcome surprise. Location to restaurants and shopping was excellent. The newly renovated room was equipped with modern furnishings. I really enjoyed strong water pressure of the shower! The staff was attentive and courteous to your needs. The room's electrical power outlets weren't working properly. The light dimming switches were confusing to use. I had just a "lemon room" of all rooms. The sound of construction due to the hotel's room renovation project can be heard throughout the day.
Excellent service and very well maintained hotel. Great location next to shopping and restaurants at Greenbelt and Glorietta malls. Minor quibble, but noticed that the showers did not seem quite scrubbed down at the creases. so you can start to see the age. Not quite mildew, but the only thing that keeps it from being perfect.
Closeness to all shops and places to eat Noisy day construction after a late night event I wanted to sleep but couldn't because of heavy noises next door. Although it's posted I did not realize how bad it was. Pool was closed too

Friendly, courteous and helpful staff. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. If you're lucky, you get a room with a nice view of the bay like we did. Also, nice pool area and gym. The breakfast was wonderful! Diverse international food to satisfy all cravings. The view from the dining room was great. There's even a garden area should you prefer to dine al fresco. Convenient location. Relatively close to the airport and to many tourist sites. Only a block away from Robinsons mall. Although the immediate area around the hotel seemed pretty safe, a little further afield and you get to see the nitty gritty of Manila. I still felt safe, but you have to be smart.
The service and comfort was would you can expect in a 5* hotel. The actual rate charged was higher than initially confirmed, due to local taxes and service charges.
Hotel staff were very courteous, responsive and helpful, no hidden fees all upfront, amenities are excellent and location is very convenient. Breakfast was always sumptuous and lounge has breathtaking views. Simply a welcome retreat after office hours with really beautiful views of the city. Beds were always well prepared. Hotel offered free parking for one car (not valet). Room came with free papers daily. Hotel's location is also in the red light district with lots of beggars and street urchins, street is a main thoroughfare and can be at times difficult for those who drive. Hotel is a bit old with carpets needing a complete overhaul or detailed steaming, beware of short shorts in the lounge; they will turned you away if you're Filipino. Hate to say it but feels like a bit of a whorehouse at times with local girls swarming a bit older foreign male. I could be wrong of course but you be the judge.

The friendly staff and the nice view over the town at the breakfast room. (top floor / 23rd level.) The unfortunate thing is the area the hotel is situated. Walking outside the hotel brings you right in the middel of the "red-light" district.
Good staff Dirty room - stained carpets and furniture, cracked marble. I reserved an upper floor room but they lied saying no upper floors were available. This hotel is run by scammers. All the things inside the hotel are extremely expensive. They charge US$10-15 for mini bar drinks plus VAT etc. Internet was $27 for 24 hours -- even 4 seasons doesn't charge that! They rip you off every chance they get.

We stayed here only because we missed our flight and the Holiday Inn was full. We wanted to stay near the popular shopping areas (Glorietta and Greenbelt). The location was excellent and they upgraded our room so we had a washer/dryer, kitchen and separate bedroom. This was perfect because we desperately needed to do laundry and didn't want to spend extra money on laundry service. It was also nice that we could cook our own meals and didn't have to spend a ton eating out and the Landmark grocery store was only a short walk away. We will probably not stay here again because they allow smoking in the rooms so once we made it home, all of our clothes that we just washed smelled like cigarette smoke. The worse part was the little ants that crawled around the whole room even the dining room table. We noticed it the second day there and had all of our luggage on the floor so we were paranoid that ants got into our luggage. We even found some crawling in bed with us. We were very ready to leave.
The service and security level provided by the Ascott's was excellent and to 5 stars international standards. Honesty and responsiveness of front desk personnel is commendable. Bathroom furnishing needs to be enhanced in order to improve averall staying experince.
Location Ascott could not locate my reservation even when given my confirmation number and booking agents number. Front desk did not know what to do, they wanted to charge me double my original paid reservation and credit my paid reservation when it came through.....WHAAAAAT! Very late and tired, no one offered to make it right, front desk seem to have attitude. I finally called Kayak and had them locate original reservation which was faxed to front desk. Front desk calls me to tell me they have fixed it and I clearly told them... I FIXED IT BY CALLING KAYAK...which is something they should've done in the first place!!!!!
The folks at the Ascott were super friendly, from the front door, to check in on the 6th floor, the restaurant was very good, staff attending to the room all were outstanding. Have been coming to PI for 10 years 20 plus trips. 1st stays were at New World, last 6 years have been at the Dusit...price/value was better in comparison than both of those hotels...we were in the old wing, rooms were spacious, we did check out the newly remodeled wing and it is newer for sure...the location next to Glorietta was great and only a 12 minute walk thru the mall to get to the Greenbelt Mall and theaters. We will be staying at the Ascott from now on. PS loved the pool area and the Jacuzzi There was nothing to complain about at all

The floors were extremely dirty. Always had to keep shoes on otherwise feet were black on bottoms. We were even in the penthouse suite where you would think they take more care.

Courteous staff who are always ready to attend to your needs with a big smile. Great location to reach different points in Metro Manila if you hate traffic. It's a great deal for the money. You can't beat the variety of excellent Chinese food offerings at Li Li. The Market Place Restaurant has the most extensive menu for brunch from Pilipino, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, European or continental fare. Non that I could think off.

Room is clean, Gym is decent., food good. In spite of booking and being given a "non-smoking room", the room still smelled smoked in. I think it is their ventilation system. If you are a smoker, the hotel is fine. If the smell of smoke bothers you then I would not recommend it.

We stayed for 1 night so we could be closer to the airport for the following day's early flight. Location is great and the amenities are great. Love that we were entertained at the casino.
The room at the tower good. Breakfast has lots of choices and good service too. When i was online trying to select a room. From the website, the room grade i select was suppose to be the newly renovated rooms with rain shower, marble bathroom counter, tv in bathroom and etc... But when i check in, i was assigned to a older room at the main building without all as described. I call the loddy and they told me that my room grade was not the newly renovated rooms, it is available at the next higher grade room. I was not too happy about this as i feel that i was misleaded to book at this hotel because of the renovation. But not so. I talk to the manager and she allow me to change room, but keep reminding me that this is only a courtesy upgrade, next time please book the higher grade room. My point is that the hotel are giving miskeading into on website to customers and the staff should be aware of the room class and provide the correct room to customer.
Stayed at Manila Hotel 35 years ago and it was luxurious and elegant then and it still is! Breakfast buffet was more like a brunch! It was excellent, delicious but sinful ! The second time we were there it was very crowded but then considering it was a weekend, it's understandable !
The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The bedding is excellent and the furnishings are all nice. The bathrooms are very nice too. Didn't have meals other than the breakfast buffet, which was the nicest I have ever had, in any hotel (previous stays U.S., Canada and Europe). Had never been to the Philippines and wasn't sure what to expect in accommodations. Manila Hotel surpassed my expectations by a significant margin. Has a feel of true luxury. Some of the surrounding areas seem like they could be a little unsafe. This is not a criticism of the hotel, which is over 100 years old and has probably seen much change in the city. The hotel takes safety and security of its guest very seriously. Just ask them if you have questions about the surrounding areas. We did venture out for dinner and were careful. Keep most of your money in the hotel safe and don't be alone if possible. Bottom line is I will still look to stay here when in Manila.

The buffet breakfast was really good. Ms. Cruz was very helpful. When you booked online, you need to know how their rooms really look like. They place me in the worst rooms (which was on the side of the hotel building). I have been in Manila Hotel a lot of times and I was very upset when I entered the room (smelly, dusty, old) does not look like what I saw in their website. you can asked for the manager and have her (ms.mcruz) fixed the problem.
