The hotel is nearby the beach and just away from the main tourist area. The hotel needs some heavy refurbished. The food is basic.
Leaving Everythink.Food.Rooms. Lack off English TV.Pool ( Needed to be Cleaned)Sports Equipment ( Lack off it ) Lighting On Landing.Smell From BathRoom. And Lots More
It was close to the beach. Very limited parking, and dark and not the cleanest facilities but to be expected given the low prices.
Food was terribles for all inclusive the dinning room was like they were feeding starving people no class what so ever. Rooms old style loud and air units were a joke. location good and thank god for that. food was terrible for all inclusive. The dinning room was like they were feeding starving people. No class whats so ever. if you want a heart attack eat there. Outside my room was the bins and each morning at 5am they were collected it was so so loud went on for 30 mins. air conditioning unit did not work. . Not happy
staff grate nice and pecefull i would have liked some entertament on a night
a piscina era maravilhosa. a comida muito boa. o hotel muito espaçoso e sossegado nesta altura do ano.
The staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. But overall clean and tidy for what we paid was not too bad. The hotel would benefit from a complete make over feeling a bit tired looking a bit drab and the food was not very adventurous and not very good. The hotel staff were good and very pleasant and the rooms had hot water and were cleaned to a high standard. But generally the hotel is in need of refurbishment.
It had a large under used swimming pool and sun terrace but not much else to recommend it It felt very 1970s-breakfast was poor, there was no parking, we had to drive arou d the streets looking for somewhere to park. Overall we felt it was very expensive for the quality it offered.
Close to beach, use of pool, friendly staff, all facilities close by, clean
Friendly staff and a quiet room
The hotel was fine, clean and well located. We were on the 15th floor and the wind was very strong. I am not fond of being up so high especially in the wind. Otherwise all was great.
We needed a one night stay in accomodation that would accept pets. This turned out to be an excellent choice.
near the beach and convenient to all facilities... the internet service was poor to non existent, however for a family holiday it was fine...
Recently refurbished apartment
i liked the position which was perfect for the beach and restaurants in and around the town and beach area. you should check the catering equipment more regularly. we did not have a bottle opener and the corkscrew was broken.
Location was nice.
Close to beach area, secure parking, good food & service hard bed, small pillows--no extras
Ideal position as was intending visiting V.R.S Antonio and also Ayamonte in Spain. Rooms were very spacious and we had a lovely seaview Restaurant staff not very attentive during evening meal. Price of room was expensive compared to other hotels with similar facilities.
Excellent amenities including free wi-fi for booking the reservation thru Booking.com Paying for parking
Convenience to local fascilities Having to pay for an enclosed car park
The economy rooms do have windows of very small size.
Best night sleep Comfy beds
friendly reception staff, secure car parking facilities breakfast time was very busy, buffet was not filled up so a shortage of some items
The spacious room with balcony and the fact it was only a short walk from both shops and beach.
I thought the decor in the hotel was very unique and unusual and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful Perhaps the lack of a spa
The resort is located in one of the few unspoiled areas of the Algarve, in an environment protected area, far from the main centers. The access to the beach is direct, although the hotel beach is on the ria and not in the sea. One shall cross the ria during the low tide. The sea beach is one of the best kept secrets of Algarve: almost desert, sandy, long, and with warm waters. The resort is a German ‘island’ in the Algarve, as it is conceived specifically for these clients. However, it is very family friendly and pleasant hotel.
Helpful staff especially during all the worry about suspended flights from Faro airport last week! Polite and helpful staff on reception and the standard of our bedroom cleanliness was excellent! Thankyou for a wonderful stay. I am hopefully buying a home in Vila Real and Montegordo was a wonderful vantage point from which we could base our daily excursions and viewing trips with Este Algarve estates in Vila Nova de Cacela. Only problem- we wish we could have stayed longer! We got home to the Midlands even earlier than expected and really would love to stay again if we can later in the year and try out all the algarvian food and culture! We thought that the breakfasts were very average compared to the rest of the hotel services and mass production lead to poor quality end product. For this reason we ate out each night but we loved our room and the rest of the hotel and it's luxurious setting right on the beach!
Location is perfect; very old-fashioned hotel, but that has its charm. Breakfast buffet is good. Hotelpersonnel acts as if you are not there; no kindness, no attention whatsoever
Good value for money, good foood, good location in respect of beach and nearby shops/town centre. Private parking adequate. Balcony a bit small compared to other hotels in the area
The pool area and crazy golf, access to the beach, the food was very good with a large variety. The staff in the bar by the pool very helpful as allthe other staff were and worked very hard and long hours especially on the sunday for the Hotels 50th Anniversary which we attended after the football match. Would like to come back in the near future. Arrived at the hotel just before 11am, nowing that our triple room would not be ready until 2pm. Checked at 2pm told to come back at 2.30pm, went back told 3pm. Other people in our party who had booked triple rooms had theirs at 2pm. In the end we had to wait until 3.30pm. The beds could be a little softer.
The hotel staf they were extremly helpful and went out of there way to make sure you came back again I found the entertainment room was inadiquate for the number of people staying there
Overlooking the beach and had a balcony.
Friendliness of the hotel staff. Good location. Difficult access to some of the hotel premises for senior and handicapped guests.
We had booked a seaview room but for some reason there wasn't one available so they gave us a bungalow instead! Very nice, including its own sun terrace. You have the choice of sun loungers on the beach (10 Euros a day for two) or around the hotel pool (free). Breakfast was basic but ok and we did not eat dinner there - too many restaurants around the town to be tied down each evening.
Everything. The staff were,as all Portuguese people are, friendly and helpful.Breakfasts were good too. none
Relaxing, comfortable, good size rooms, close to beach and town, friendly, international, clean, great breakfast, polite and helpful staff. Good size pool and safe for children. Although 50 years old and recently internally renovated, external maintenance must be a continuing event. A bit like the Forth Road Bridge syndrome in the UK. Not a problem, but always noticeable.
Proximity to nearby towns/cities. Size of rooms. Very bad odour from drains in my bathroom which was at times unbearable and sometimes I could get this smell in the corridor directly outside my room. I complained twice to no avail. No supervision at the pool. Difficult to enjoy swim in pool due to unsupervised behaviour by other users. Music also too loud at pool which made it difficult if you wanted to relax and read or talk. Breakfast choice not very varied. No hotel directory in room telling you how to use its facilities including phones/tv/AC in room. No "Do not disturb" signs in room.
Location of the hotel, very close to the beach and also close to village centre
Very large hotel in an excellent beach front position. Large comfortable bedrooms
Cenral to facilities of Monte Gordo
Location of hotel is excellent. Since we only stayed for one night and arrived fairly late, the hotel's facilities were not used. We had two junior suites booked and were upgraded to full one bedroom suites. We were very disappointed with the cleanliness in the rooms. Also, some of the furniture was badly stained and no-one felt like sitting on anything. The carpeting in the hallway on the 3rd floor was also very badly stained. The hotel seems to cater to many families which would explain the stains and heavier wear.
We have stayed at this hotel before and this time found that it appears to be under new ownership, It was not as upmarket as before.
There was building work going on in the room above our room which I reported but it continued the next day, I asked for a reduced rate and they saidthat could only be done through you .
Good location. Friendly and helpful staff. Good housekeeping services. Modern entrance, reception area and bar. Nice large balcony and lovely seaview. Rooms are old fashioned and need to be modernised. Hotel does not deserve 4* rating, more like a good 3*.Poor choice at breakfast. Hotel is not located on the beach as per description and photo on website but across the road. The pool area is not attractive and not enough umbrellas to go round, some of them broken. We spent our time on the beach which is fabulous.
relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and walking distance to town centre
the kitchen was too close to the bedroom area, a small room but it was not required anyway
A comfortable apartment which was well mantained and within easy reach of the beach. Nothing
Rooms were spacious and clean. Helpful reception. Noise from bins being emptied early in the morning. (Had a room at the back of the hotel)
all was good, however it would be desirable to have access to a "non smoking room" for a future stay. see above
- Room was large and spacious - Balcony was large and had a nice view - Pool was large enough to swim laps - Breakfast was satiisfying and provided various options - Hotel Staff very friendly - Website did not inform of fact that the safe was on a pay per night basis.
4 star hotel at a 2 star price. Excellent facilities throughout. Very spacious and practical kitchenette facilities including mini fridge and countertop stove. Large modern w/c . Ceramic tile throughout entire apartment unit. Good variety in breakfast. Centrally located and short walk from a beautiful and clean beach. Excellent value for the money Kitchenette had only 1 pot to cook. no problem, as we didn't cook in often.
Good location to shops and beach. Very friendly maids and hotel staff. Some old paint work in bathroom.
Clean, Staff very helpful. Plenty of choice at breakfast. Hotel ideally situated in quiet location not very far from beach. This was my third stay! The coffee at breakfast!!
Good central location
The hotel is in a beautiful setting and was quietly luxurious. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
good parking, free internet, quality of the food. the cleaning, staff (blond girl) at breakfast.
Only for 1 night so too short to provide proper feedback
a pleasant, relaxing, peaceful stay lack of tv channels in English, other than the news
Fine relaxing rest! Pleasant design, spacious rooms, compact kitchen with bosch technics. a place - remarkable, in pine wood. The hotel location is one of the most beautiful places in Algarve. Is absent accessible wi-fi. Connection to the Internet only by means of a cable.
Very pleasant and child-proof space, well equiped kitchenette, both swimming pools are excellent Bathroom ventilation is insufficient
The quietness Distance from the beach
convenience,Comfort,Courtesy and location.
The hotel is in the hearth of the village, no car is needed. Perfect location for family with kids wanting to go to the beach.
Apartment was a good size - easily big enough for the four blokes staying in it
A well placed adequate hotel in town centre handy for shops supermarkets, and beach. A small roof top swimming pool, with jacuzzi and kids paddling pool. Also a few square metres of sunbathing area below. (booked in for 3 days second week in June 2007) Reception area and lobby was always reeking of stale cigarette smoke. The mad scramble for buffet meals at the prescribed times. Not enough staff and dishes/cutlery to cater for replenishment after the first wave of frustrated guests. When food ran out it was ages before it got replenished sometimes never. Anyone who came in half way through the meal time table had to make do with what was left, as well as chase staff for any dishes or cutlery shortcomings. The food variance and quality was only second rate. The serving staff appeared to be working under duress and hence were not very pleasant to the paying guests. A written official complaint was handed in at hotel reception at time of check out. There has been no reply. (booked in for 3 days second week in June 2007)
Quiet, clean hotel, friendly and helpful staff24h reception disk (the reason for the choose of this hotel), good breakfast It was hard to find in dark and reign, Illumination of the hotel name plate would help.
Very conveniently located near town centre and beach. I did not try the dinner nor the swimming pool, so I cannot judge about it. The breakfast buffet looked a bit poor. It has everything you need (fine for me), but all has been set up in a way that makes it very clear that they've done everything to cut down labour costs. For my short stay this was fine, but if you would spend a week or longer in the hotel it might annoy one.
price was ok for what has been offered we did not like at all the beds horrible!!!!!
The reception staff were very helpful and informative, the pool though small was great for relaxing in. Would happily stay in this hotel again. The barman had a very poor attitude.
central to all amenities uncomfortable beds, very basic breakfast
The receptionist was very helpful and professional. The hotel felt safe for our two younger group members The orange juice in the breakfast room
Hotel is central to all shops, bars, restaurants and the beach. this hotel is very much in need of a major refurbishment or upgrade.
Location = good, close to beach & town centre Room was a bit small, poor view (was in a back room). Pool & pool area is small.

nice quiet place to stay , given the required privacy.Great safe parking.Wonderful helpful staff.lovely bathrooms /other rooms none
what a pleasant surprise superb value, staff couldnt do more
This was 1 of the loveliest places I have ever stayed. Jose & Theresa were so friendly& helpful . THe guesthouse itself was beautifully laid out & the rooms were spotless. Sunloungers in front garden, little terrace with tables & chairs, a truly lovely breakfast with the most scrumptious fresh rolls & coffee. Nothing was too much even finding out train timetables for us & finding alternative accomm for us when we made an impromptu decision to stay an extra 2 days. Cant praise this place enough. It's on a roundabout with 5 roads leading off it but honestly ( & I'm a really bad sleeper) it doesn't cause a problem as the double-glazing is very effective & ear plugs guarantee a good sleep. The + side of the location is that it's a 3 min. walk to the train station fro where you can get a ticket to Faro for 4 euro pp!!! Taxi works out at approx 55-60euro.
Close to Monte Gordo and to Vila Real De Santo António. Clean and large room, with air conditioner. Parking place. Friendly staff. Good cost-benefit ratio. Breakfast was included (it was simple but quite good). It's not in the center of the village nor in front to the beach (but it's quite close, though - 5 minutes by car).
Excellent welcome and extremely helpful staff. Convenient location to explore the local area and further afield over the Spanish boarder.
apart from the good quality of the accomandation it accessibility to the main highway was excellent making it a perfect location for a base.
small friendly , good position
chilling out, exploring new places.waitress service.balcony thought there was a lack of choice for breakfast and evening meal which although was very cheap we did not use.
Very central for what we were doing
The proximity to the ocean was exactly what we were looking for. Very enjoyable stay. Thank you for the complimentary bottle of champagne.
Good value. The staff were very friendly. Our heating did not work when we arrived and had to wait to get it fixed till tecnico arrived. When we left we had to go to get money as the credit card machine was not working! Advertised as 4* but it's not!
looked around area crossed to spain on ferry found quiet place and sun trap
Very basic. closer to 2 stars than 4
It was in a very nice, intimate resort town with plenty of amenties without all the big high rise resorts. Although not right on the beach, it's proximity was great. The receptionists were not very helpful or informed. We were required to pay upfront for all nights so we needed touse credit cards rather than pay cash, which is our preference given foreign currency fees on the creidt cards.
Quite close to the beach (even my 2yr daughter didn't complain the walking distance), quiet since the room was opposite to the main street (quiet this time of the year though). The T2 apartement was big enough, big bed in the larger bedroom (not 2 individual beds) and we just had to leave the living room to the balcony (spatious too) to find the swimming pool. Good value for money (107EUR/night). Not many shelves to store goods in the "kitchen" (on one side of the living room....big enough though); bathroom a bit smely; RTP1 tv signal noisy (no antenna on the TV....broken ?!); hot water "time limited" (thermoaccumulator); swimming pool minimum depth is 1m and short lasting so <5yr kids will find scary.
Good hotel, friendly staff, and very good food for a holiday hotel of this sort with set meals Some niggles, door to balcony did not shut, mini bar not cold and phone did not work. They need some preventative maintenance
good view, food, nice personal cleaning in bathroom wasn't good enough
The room was excellent
Too isolated the village is dead. If you stay rent a car and drive to Albufeira, but it's better you stay closer to Faro and drive from there as there are plenty better choices for the money. Internet fees are absurd 2 Euro for 30 minutes 20 Euro for 24 hours
The fabulous view, the nice swimming pool, the good general conditions and the location (Altura). Excellent access to a beautiful beach. The spa was very good but quite expensive.
The beach is excellent. The breakfast was always cold and covered in flies. The beds were rock hard. The hotel is very isolated so we had to hire a car.Altura is a ghost town with only 3 restaurants.
Spacious rooms with great sea view. Hotel has a good location close to the beach. Nice, small village. Beds were too hard. Air conditioner's outdoor unit on balcony made the balcony a very hot place.
the view of the ocean from the rooms and the private walkway to the beach
The beautiful view. nothing
The views from the balcony are stunning the breakfasts are very good and the town of Altura and beach are very nice.
Could not believe the size of apartments, fantastic for family or large groups and not living ontop of each other. Everything needed, high standard of cleanliness and perfect position. Breakfast was fine but evening meals need upgrading.
Localization Illumination is poor
The apartment was roomy and located close to the beach and shopping, restaurants, etc. Beware, if you like to sleep at night. The parties in the nearby bars begin about 11 pm. Sounds of kareoke, singing, laughter, shouting, continued until the break of day. Also, we thought it would be nice to have an apartment to make coffee of fix breakfast, but this was not possible. There is not a coffee pot or stove, but they did have a small hot plate. Plan accordingly.
the hotel was in a very good location the hotel was extremley basic, more like residential apartments. It was not worthy of a 3 star.
The room was very large, and the bathroom was enormous. It was a grea value for my 2 friends and I. It also was about a block away from the beach. Also the next morning we had a lovely breakfast with hard boiled eggs, bacon, cheese, and baguettes. Quaint, but nice! No complaints!
Apartment was very comfy and very good value for money Wasn't in long enough to answer this question
very good position for beech, shop's,bar;s & restaurants the only thing i can say is that there is a lot of road noise from early morrning till late afternoon, maybe better glassing might help, but like all things it could be expensive to replace, pool sunbeds are a little dated and a lot are slightley damaged but usable,
Basic accommodation but very clean and a very comfortable No safe in the room but we were lucky to get a safe box in reception
the price and the room.
Very good breakfast My room had a strong scent of smoke, which is highly unpleasant. Plus, there was no blanket on the wardrobe, and it could have been very useful, since it's winter.
