I was charged $45 to recharge this electric vehicle that I drove only 63 miles. As that is about half what I pay for the electricity for my entire house in a month, it amounts to highway robbery. This charge was not clearly spelled out by the Thrifty employee when I picked up the car. I will therefore not be using Thrifty or Kayak to rent cars in the future, or recommending that anyone else do so.Reviewed 20 Dec 2025

!!!I WILL NEVER RENT A VEHICLE THROUGH KAYAK OR WITH THRIFTY AGAIN!!! Kayak offers an option to purchase insurance, but it does not apply to Thrifty vehicles. As a result, I had to buy additional insurance directly from Thrifty to ensure our rental was covered for the trip. The total cost ended up being over $600 — and that does not include the 5-day rental itself.Reviewed 19 Nov 2025

My flight was delayed by many hours. I was not able to get to the Thrifty counter before it closed. Although I kept Thrifty apprised of these delays thruout the evening, they still have not honored my request for a full refund. I paid - in response to a Thrifty unsolicited email offer - to skip the counter and go straight to the car. That did not happen at pickup. I had to wait for 2 customers ahead of us. Now I was 20 +/- minutes early because the flight was early. Thrifty msgs and announcements claimed they would track delayed flights and hold rentals open. Seems like that is doable and should be done for early flights. Either that or email the details for direct-to-the car folks more than 30 minutes before car reservation time.Reviewed 17 Oct 2025
