As if Vienna wasn't magnificent enough, this hotel just kicks everything up several more notches! From the efficient and friendly (English-speaking) staff at check-in to the turn-down service at night, our stay was simply fabulous. The rooms are large and well appointed. Every last detail has been thought of, including courtesy umbrellas in the closet, bathrobes and slippers, stationery and more. We loved our balcony with its view up and down the street. The breakfast is simply superb--the best I have ever had in Vienna. There is an ample selection of pastries, meats, cheeses, yogurts, and more, plus a hot menu you can order from if you prefer. The hot chocolate is utterly divine. We will definitely be back when we come to Vienna again!
There was zero room for improvement. Thank you for a fantastic stay!
everything about this hotel is exceptional. the location, the service, the cleanliness... I travel around the world, i have never seen the check in clerk taking you to your room to show you around. The spa is extremely nice, this is high class hotel in great location, AMAZING value for your money.,
everything is perfect
Reception staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had complimentary champagne on arrival as they knew we were celebrating our silver wedding anniversary. Great location. Breakfast plentiful and so much choice. Very warm greeting at breakfast. Beautiful decor and everything you needed and more, was provided in the room. Turn down service in the evening and chocolate - lovely touch.
Our bed had a visible hardwood board under the mattress?? However, the bed was still comfortable, but I guess that could have been hidden. 2 single duvets instead of one double? Some of the waiting staff at breakfast appeared stressed, and emotional. However, some of the guests were quite rude to them, which can't be easy for them.
Breakfast was very disappointing. Cheese selection very poor . Same for fruits . No concierge on location when needed . It seemed that the concierge comes at 10 am , leaves at 5 pm . I was never able to find him . Staff were not able to help with directions and recommendations and were annoyed when asked , which was a big blow for me as a tourist who usually depends on concierge for tips directions and recommendations, dinner reservations or to get taxis . Has to google and do my own research and my own reservations They had a piano player from 5 to 11 . Unfortunately, it was more noise than music or anything else . She kept making mistakes , classicL pieces were distorted . We could not stay more that 10 min
Great location staff were super helpful and friendly room were clean breakfast was yummy
The Grand Hotel Wien is located in the heart of Vienna, Austria just steps from the State Opera House in Ringstrasse. The elegant hotel was built according to plans by renowned architect Carl Tietz and first opened it's doors on May 10th 1870. Guests at the time could enjoy such luxuries as a telegraph office, steam powered elevators, and 300 rooms with 200 fabulously appointed bathrooms. Johann Strauss even celebrated his 50-year jubilee at the hotel in 1894.
In 1945 The Grand Hotel Wien shut its doors due to the occupation of Russian troops for 10 years and then to the International Atomic Energy Agency who used it for their headquarters until 1989.
After a 100 million Euro renovation the hotel was reopened on July 14th 1994 with a total of 300 rooms and suites for guests to choose from. All rooms are equipped with antique furniture, flat screen TV, beautiful textiles, and large marble bathrooms with double vanities. The Presidential suite features a grand dining room with open fireplace, spacious master bedroom with a canopy bed, large living room with balcony, and a marble bathroom with separate shower and whirlpool tub.
Guests have 7 dining options located in the hotel which offer 24-hour room service. Diners can enjoy a variety of cuisines including Arabic, Japanesse, and traditional Vinasse. Unkai features Teppan-Yaki grills as well as a traditional Kimono service. Le Ciel has been awarded a Michelin star and affords guests a roof top view of Vienna. Yalla features shish kebabs and freshly prepared shawarma sandwiches right from the grill.
The Grand Hotel Wien has a glittering past with 140 years of tradition and luxury.
