Any time of year would be ideal to plan your Estepona holidays, bearing in mind that during the summer months of July and August it can be very busy. The nearest airport is the Gibraltar International Airport, located 45km from Estepona. From there you can take a bus or taxi which will take around 40 mins to arrive to the town. The beaches of Estepona are truly breathtaking and with around 17 to choose from, there is plenty of sand and sea to enjoy. Most areas are equipped with lifeguards, sunbed rentals and 'Chiringuito' huts selling freshly cooked meals, snacks and refreshments. On your Estepona holidays make sure to check out 'La Rada' beach which is popular for watersports and activities such as wind surfing and kayaking. For families and children, head to the more sheltered cove of 'Playa de Cristo'.
Estepona is not only famous for its stunning natural beauty, but also it's traditional houses and architecture. The 15th century clock tower 'Torre del Reloj' and the many castles, ruins and watchtowers scattered throughout the town are reminders of the history of this region. For the best shopping areas head to 'Calle Real' and 'Calle Terraza' for a wide range of boutiques and stores selling everything from leather and clothing to woodwork, tapestry and marble sculpture. At the daily Estepona covered market you can buy fresh food such as fruit, vegetables, meat and fish.
