Would recommend this hotel highly.

Few hotels in and around Edinburgh can match this lodge for its views or place in literary history. Many of its 14 cosy rooms look out over the iconic Forth Road Bridge and the Firth of the Forth estuary, and it s said that legendary author Robert Louis Stevenson wrote part of his famous novel Kidnapped here there s even a mention of The Hawes Inn in the book. Just 10 miles from the city centre, the South Queensferry lodge is an ideal base for visiting Scotland s historic capital, where you can explore Edinburgh Castle, the shops of the Royal Mile or the city s many museums and restaurants. Also perfect for golfers, it s within striking distance of Carnoustie and St Andrew s and close to the birthplace of golf at the East Neuk of Fife. The Tudor Gothic Dalmeny House and Georgian Hopetoun House are also well worth a visit.

Pros: Stopped here before and its loads better for cleanliness, but its more a food orientated place now instead of a good old pub with pub Grubb.overall stay was good just didn't agree with the breakfast cost
Cons: Having to pay an extra £7.95 for a breakfast!!! Needless to say I never paid,

Pros: Friendly staff. Food reasonably priced. Parking free . Clean room. Overall price was good .
Cons: Our room, did not have bedside tables , so we had to put everything on the floor. The bed itself was very small and the mattress was hard. Spent most of the night awake. Our bathroom sink was blocked when we arrived. We were looking forward to breakfast and we were first there when it was put out freshly cooked, but it was tasteless apart from the bacon. We ate here in the evening and the food was fairly tasty. No atmosphere or charm too the cafe area. Felt like school canteen. We felt very disappointed with our stay.

Cons: AVOID THIS SITE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. Size of room - only 3x5 open area where beds weren't. TINY bathroom (3/4 bath only). Doors were hollow wood - not secure or sound resistant to noises in hallway. Mouse Maze to get to room with many short steps. TV size of a small laptop with not much channel selection. No climate control - only what the window would allow. Lighting minimal and only 40 watts when at full strength (Very dark). No glasses in bathroom. Toilet paper holder broken. Parking - not even wide enough to fully open doors between other vehicles. Not enough spaces - had to park on street/sidewalk overnight. Staff not very friendly. That covers most items.
