Management handled room complication well Interesting modern design in room Great beachfront view and access Sea salt hand scrub in the bathroom was amazing Great location and ambiance Our room was not clean and was in complete shambles when they sent us up there at check-in. (Imagine walking into a room that looks like a rock band had just partied there. We were speechless.) The Bellhop did not give us a claim tag for our luggage we dropped off so we had to go identify it in the storage room and the bellhop had the nerve to ask for a tip after. There was a significant amount of blood on the walls between the doors of our room and the room next door (how can you miss that? who is looking over this place??)
Aside from everything being over-priced, it's situated in a very convenient location that's a few blocks down from all the shops and restaurants, plus the rooms were extremely comfortable! Everything was nice and CLEAN, staff was friendly, and the hotel is a couple steps away from the beach. Will definitely choose this place again! Over-priced services, drinks and food...and they charged us a $30 resort fee per day which we weren't informed about when we first checked in.
all especially in the interior areas the pool area was dirty all time
Cheap renovations with premium cost of accommodation. Parking cost is unreasonable. Our first room had not been cleaned after the previous guests. We were switched to a worse/smaller room. There was no acoustic privacy.
Really enjoyed my stay here. The ocean facing room was beautiful and comfortable with a nice clean modern design aesthetic that was very minimal and lent itself to the great view and balcony. The staff throughout was all smiles and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves just fine. A great location just above south beach to keep you close to the night life and local color but far enough away to be comfortable. I had such a good stay that I booked a second night. Also good internet speeds which was crucial since I was on business and uploading lots of files.
It's right on the beach! Housekeeping staff took my iPhone 6 charger and took the bottles of alcohol that I bought and placed in the fridge. They also took my razors. Also noticed that while they are on the floors cleaning they keep all of the doors open even if they have other people's property in them which makes it really easy for someone else to go in to your room and take your stuff.
I am a former Miami citizen and so I am picky and savvy. The Royal Palm is simply beautiful. The furniture, flooring, light fixtures, landscaping, are well designed and maintained. My room was clean, chic, had an amazing view. Bathroom was modern and lovely. Bed and sheets were comfortable. Your stay includes beach chairs and towels and service (cocktails and food) at your chair. I felt like a queen and was treated exceptionally well by the staff at the beach. I accidentally left my grandmother's ring in my room after checkout and the bellhop mobilized the housekeeping staff to look for and find it. I am so grateful! And whoever is running this place is doing all the important things right. I am a frequent traveler and will DEFINITELY be returning to the Royal Palm Resort. Oh, and you can't beat the location... I requested a late checkout, as I was unsure when I would be done with my meetings, and the gentleman at the front desk smirked and laughed at my request, which I did not appreciate. I do not fault the Royal Palm for this I still feel, despite this individual, I had an amazing experience and I will definitely return.
Location, beach access Poor hotel management, and poor service when allocating rooms and requesting guests to change rooms. They tried to downgrade us on the first night (the room was already paid for), and also offered us to sleep at an other hotel on the first night because our room was not available. Not accessible. Swimming pool area: Bathroom at the pool could be the bathroom of a 2 star hotel, and there are no indoor shower.
The hotel had direct beach access, and close to great outdoor shopping, and was a very good value for the money. The staff was friendly and attentive It seemed a little run down, but that was in character for a hotel that was as old as this.
Didn't replace toiletries in the bathroom. Sheets were very rough.
The hotel was in a great location with great views. The hotel will nickel and dime you for many different resort fees.
I liked the hotel room layout because it was new and fresh.
Absolutely wonderful for its price and what it has to offer
Friendly personels, quiet, very good location, a lot of space Missing light in the wardrobes
Doormen were excellent. Close to the beach with free beach chairs. Housekeeping is very poor because they do not understand a word of English. The wall is too thin. Could not sleep because of the TV noise next door. Reception may not be efficient; was charged different rates. Had to pay extra for the taxi because of the poor response when checking-out. No prior response to my mail sent asking as to how to get on the free shuttle-bus from the airport.
Good sized and well furnished rooms, with art deco style. Friendly, helpful staff, good location for beach access and Lincoln Road shops A good stay, and decent value with a discount, but the hotel needs to be more on top of the maintenance: e.g. we had problems with the shower tap and temperature in our room and there was a rather basic breakfast on disposable tableware by a pool that wasn't cleaned during our stay.
Nothing No facilities in room - no tea, coffee Room - the size of shoe box Rudest staff in the world
Staff friendly and helpful, very comfortable and stylish suites with excellent and good quality facilities, lots of space, great location - easy walking distance to Ocean Drive. Poolside breakfast is sufficient, Free shuttle bus to the airport is a nice touch. I will definitely stay here again, much better than the last hotel I used in Miami. Rooms are very very dark, a torch would be useful to find things in your suitcase. Note that a hotel surcharge/tax of $15/day (per suite) is billed in addition to the figure quoted on booking.com
The Rooms were funky and very spacious. The pool area was cool - not a massive pool - but enough to swim about and cool off. The cabanas and sofas around the pool were nice. No where decent or cheaper than the $30 valet parking. They should have an option for reduced parking. There are some mulit storey car parks about half way down collins (near the Chesterfield hotel) that parking is $20 per 24 hours.
This was a beautiful hotel with lavish furnishings. Great use is made of the space especially the pool area. The staff were great and added to the experience.
I was injured at the hotel and the staff was rude and unhelpful. I was most surprised at the at the poor attitude of the assistant general manger. I would never stay at this hotel again.
design, big rooms, friendly personal, near to the beach, near to the shopping center, services like: airportshuttle, cool water at the pool, towels for the beach, cocktails at the catalina, delivery-service from the catalina restaurant no bar, the cleaning personal only speaks spanish but no english, the breakfast could have more choices than marmelade and cream cheese
Location was very good, either for beacha or not too far from all the action Most of the staff. One , of the two female recepcionist was very unfrendly -ANA (?), the other was just ok. Other staff only friendly with tips.
Great hotel in great location.have read other reviews and I can only say that people who are negative must be very pickey! Staff were lovely, loved the hammocks on the beach and the overall feel of the place, even went back for an extra night at the end of the holday.
close to beach and walking distance to shops and restaurants no room to park in front of hotel but all the other hotels are the same
yes was wonderful time use of topless inside the pool where stay many children
location, pool small room
Location Security Breakfast Friendly staffs Interior Small bathroom whitout any ventillation Expensive valet parking
The oceanfront view, excellent location, breakfast... A/C a bit noisy. The Wifi not working in the room...
The location is convenient - that's it. Worst stay ever, a true nightmare. Stay away! Please! It's horrible. Dirty rooms, moldier than you can imagine. We got sick of it and need a medical treatment now, same to our children. They take medicine because of the heavy dust.
The staff were great. Great location.
We loved the location of the hotel, close to the beach, close to shops, restaurants. It was a perfect hotel for what we wanted to do, We were mainly out and about, The rooms have TV and Ipod dock system, everything was just what we needed.
The location of the hotel is fantastic, a directly on the beach and walking distance to restaurants and shops. The size of the room was great to accommodate a LOT of luggage!
We had a wonderful time. Room was great !
It was beautifull. Had a wonderfull view the bed was nice and the room was very clean. I had a spacious closet and had a restarunt right in the hotel. I also liked how they give u a complimentary alcoholic drink as a welcome gift.:) very relaxing and I recomend this hotel.. The only problem I had was the shower wasnt strong and the hot and cold was difficult to use.
Great location, beachfront as well close to the shops and restaurants. Outdoor swimming pool, lounge chairs and towels were also available at the hotel. Friendly hotel staff and internet for free in the lobby. Bathroom rather small and needs updating.
It was close to shopping, food, and the beach. It was clean and the lobby was nicely decorated. It had a nice outside eating area. The hotel was quite old, our beach front room was on the side overlooking the next door hotel's roof. Over that you could see the ocean, which was quite far away. The balcony was old, and shared with the room next door. The pool was plain (the Double tree hotel next door was nicer and a bigger pool) They had a sandy area with hammocks that was ok, but not near the pool.
The location it's number one exactly between 17th to 18th street where is all the places to be u don't need a car!!
Close proximity to the beach. Concierge was helpfull. Breakfast not included. No coffee and tea making facilities provided in rooms. Tv not working. Room furnishings were very very tired. Room advertised as sea view but only with sore neck.
Everything was great, the staff was very friendly, the location is great. I would recommend it staying here. The toilet was dirty
De staff was very friendly en helpfull. They gave us a room with a view to the pool and the beach. Also a extra bed for our child was no problem and they dit not charge extra money for it. Parking is 25 dollar a day withs is very expensive, but everywere in miami parking is expensive. We stay two days in this hotel. The airconditioning was very noisy could not find anything to put out.
Absolutely loved the hotel. Room was very nice and spacious to accommodate myself and two other friends. Great happy hour, the pool area was amazing, and a few minutes of walking distance to the beach and shoppoing. The hotel smelled really nice :-)!. I will be back!!
I like the area location on the beach . The hotel could use a little updating.
The oceanview was really nice. The room modern decorations were nice as well. I did not like that the AC was stuck on 74. After walking around hot Miami Beach and you come back to your room to cool off but you can't because you can't change the AC so you end up sweating for about 30-40 minutes. Called reception and they said they would send someone to check it out but nobody ever came. That was the only bad part about our stay.
Room was clean. Staff and manager were very polite and helpful, yet never in the way. There when I needed them. Good location, felt safe at night, near all the fun stuff in South Beach. Can walk in just a few minutes to wide range of restaurants & clubs. Definitely needs to be renovated. Carpets, paint, doors, furnishings all a bit beat up and dated. Not terrible, but getting there fast. Lobby was VERY dated and color scheme poorly considered. Given its location and the nicer hotels right next door, a full renovation would seem like a very good investment. Pool was closed when I was there. From what I could see they are in no hurry to get it done. Door locks for the rooms seem like 1970's technology, with an actual key made from plastic and with little metal strips at the end. Big and clunky. That's another area to update.
They tried to solve the small problems as they appeared The location and the view are amazing, the decoration and the swimmingpool areas are very unique. A hotel like this should have free wifi: it is ridiculous to have a fee of $15 /day not for the money but for the principle. The rooms are not big; I was in an upper floor but the lower floors are very noisy as there are parties in the hotel almost every night
Cleanliness and comfort. Pool area wasn't welcoming. Snobby attitudes.
It was centrally located location for a international Business meeting. The expoense was not justified by the quality of the hotel
The location is terrific, the outside pool and pool dj is awesome. Plus the lobby is aesthetically pleasing. The rooms are terribly small and all white. Not in a cool way, but in a "one flew over the coo-coo's nest way". VERY LAME for 2014. They need to renovate this property asap. Also, nothing inside the room is clean. The little throw rug in the room had debris and old un-vacuumed crumbs all over. Very nasty.
Just the location and the nightlife "knowledge" of the concierge The Rooms were too old-fashioned. The Bathroom was smaller then 4m2. The elevators were bad smelling. And to have access to the fitness you had to pass through the old linen storage.
I was brought up that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. I will not ever stay here again.
This hotel has the most friendly staff who always welcome you back. Best pool, pool bar and DJ experience. The sushi restaurant in the lobby is outstanding. My all white decorated room faced the ocean and had spectacular view of beach. Highly recommend this property. The gym could be upgrade and/ or located in a different part of hotel (it feels like being in the dungeon of the hotel). The cable sometimes goes in and out.
Great pool, great service, classy crowd
Food superb on the two occasions we had lunch. The restaurant staff very friendly and efficient. Weird smell in lifts. This was probably the cleaning agent but it smells awful.
The location, the pool and some of the staff are great. The rooms are also fairly comfortable even though they are well outdated. This place is the most absurdly expensive place even by south beach standards. It is really pathetic what they charge for food and drinks. If it wasn't for the scenic pool no one would stay here. During our stay the beach club had a pimp soliciting business very loudly on multiple days whom the hotel refused to kick out despite multiple parties complaint. The Delano is a magnet for sketchy characters. The place is surviving off of its reputation and pool alone. Go here if you don't mind being gouged and enjoy the occasional strung out pimp at the beach, but if you're looking for a modern luxury hotel, this isn't it.
The Delano was a beautiful hotel with an awesome pool and atmosphere. The staff was friendly and overall really cool. Great for a one time indulgence. The rooms were a bit small and our floor was sandy upon arrival. The all white decor was ok, but really let you know if something wasn't clean, and unfortunately many things on our bed had stains. As for the prices, they were absurd. There wasn't a single thing that was complimentary here. 30 dollars for wifi for two days, overpriced cocktails, food and drink and the biggest offense of all was the fact that you had to pay more than starbucks prices for coffee in the morning. Seriously not ok for the price you pay for just staying there. Lastly, the sushi bar was just awful, 3 pieces in and we closed our check.
Staff were excellent. Great customer service. Very friendly. Food prices were a bit high.
The staff was great,. Especially Nuremise. She made the morning coffee run to the lobby very enjoyable and easy. Bathroom had no shelf space and not enough hooks. This is an easy fix that should be dealt with quickly.
En el check in cobran tarifa adicional a la pagada por personal, eso no me gusto. El resto todo bien
location the sound of the bed, every time you move!!!!!!!!
beautiful design bed -cheap , old and bad bad mattress- hurt my back
Great location. Squeeky beds and thin walls.
location. Cleanliness. Very thin walls, you can hear everything from the next room. Beds are not great.
Location very good, value for money, friendly staff, quirky fun room.
Love the decor. The rooms are very noisy. You can hear everything that goes on outside you room.
Great location, very accomodating staff. Walls are way too thin, most rooms have a dividing door with the next suite. This dividing door is paper thin and you can hear absolutely everything from the next room.
Staff was very friendly, rain shower was nice. Continental breakfast was good, more options than I expected. The location was perfect for walking to Espanola street, Ocean Avenue, the beach, and even to Lincoln Mall. Even with the AC running, it was hot in our room on the fourth floor during the day. Bed sheets had a weird stain on them. Hallway smelled strongly of marijuana.
location and staff were good. walls paper thin, heard partying ALL night in hallway and nearby rooms. overwhelming cleaning agent smell, no water pressure in shower. TV had snowy pic, no local stations. big ugly stains on wall used as a headboard.
Nothing much,The Hotel rooms were not sound proof and other guests had no consideration continually slamming doors of their rooms.etc. The rooms were quite bright and airy, but the lack of interior furniture, such as a table & chairs meant we had to use the ironing board as a table and the foot of the bed as our seats Also no drawers to put your personal thing in and very weak internet reception in the Lobby.
I stayed only one night. This motel the water preshier was highand low ,there was no drain fitting in the tub..no waether striping wind was howeling threw the door. The pool area looked 30 years old.
Nothing at all The hotel is dirty unkempt and a disgrace - do not use it
It's location Virtually everything. The room was tired, the closet was disgusting, the drawers were filthy. The bathroom was disgusting.
The room was very large, clean and the bed ok. The hotel is very clean. The pool is ok. I enjoyed my stay in Miami in this hotel. The noise in the other rooms, with the doors!
The location Poor lighting , hotel seem very old
Location was good, friendly stuff and nice pool area. Unclean fitted carpet in a room, I expected flagstone floor which I saw in a picture.
Hotell staff, access to beach, shopping Pool not working, internet not working
We liked Chris at the fron tdesk. He new he was in a substandard hotel but we told him that he should be someplace worthy of his effort! The two rooms we eneded up having were both very dated and old.
Kelly at check in, superb. Ziggy, beach manager above and beyond. The beautiful lady who delivered room service at 1 AM and serenaded my daughter with a lovely Happy Birthday. All the staff were friendly, and excellent! The lobby decor. Also, no coffee shop.
Location is perfect for experiencing all that South Beach has to offer; staff was fantastic and very accommodating; food was very good; The way of the travel world now appears to be to charge little bits (or more) for every little thing, this was no exception.
Staff, location Not up to Ritz standards! More like a motel
Every staff member said hello to me. Staff was very friendly The Spa experience was ok, Massage for a deep tissue was weak. The Sauna was not on, I turned it on but should be preheated for guests or what good is it. For $440 for 2 - 50 minutes massages I expect more.
Proximity to beach and Lincoln Mall. Our room was right off the pool which was super convenient. Front desk staff couldn't have been nicer especially when I disputed some charges at checkout out. The facilities need maintenance. Particularly the pool area. Broken tiles and the bottom of the pool was chopping off in at least one large area. The bathroom also could use some maintenance. The vanity top had a chopper out of it and theme leftist was rusting in areas.
I like the location and the beach area. The room had big stains on the carpet & it was not well maintained or cleaned.
The first night was a disaster. At about 5:45 p.m. I called down to report a loud fan/ motor annoying noise. They said they would send someone up. We left about 20 minutes later for a dinner reservation. When we came back later that evening it was late nothing had changed. we were to tied to do anything so we tried to go to bed. Sleep did not come for either of us easily and we were up a good part of the night. The next day I complained and the girl offered us a $50.00 credit and would move us down from the top floor in the same proximity. the noise was probably from the motors on the roof. Looking out after agreeing I saw all the fans from the building next door so I called back and said it was not acceptable. I was turned over to the Rooms manager (Emily) who was excellent we were moved closer to the front of the building, no noise good sleep a Ritz Carlton experience. First day terrible second day great. Not sure how to evaluate Sid Barish
I was charged twice for my staying and although I've contacted the site several times and it's been three weeks I still couldn't get my money back
Location, pool area, room & bed comfort. It is located right out of the loud crowd on Ocean Drive, so it is a lot more chilled and relaxed. Overall, much better than all other hotels on South Beach. I can't quite say it was a true 5 star experience in terms of appearance and for the premium price. But again, a lot better than the other hotels around.
The location and the breakfast. We arrived at 4pm and while there is no place to park we were lucky to be able to pull up in front of the hotel while we checked in. During the check in procedure we were informed there would be a $30 per day valet parking fee and a one time $13 and some change resort fee which covered wifi, breakfast and a free glass of wine per day. Our room was incredibly small and overlooked the street. Part of the bathroom had been updated. It was basically rectangular, two double beds (one saggy), with a closet on the right and the bath on the left. The bath had a mini toilet and a single shower. During showers the water would alternate between scalding hot and barely warm. There was ONE hook on the door and no place to hang towels. The room had a tv stand with two drawers and one night stand between the bed. (TV was the big old kind seriously?) A luggage rack would have been appreciated because we had to keep our bags on the floor as there was no good place to put our clothes and toiletries. I did like that our windows swung wide open. On the second night that people directly above us made a racket and I had to call the front desk four times. Each time they got the people upstairs to quiet down but an hour later they would start up again. There is no pool or sundeck. You can walk a block to the beach and rent beach towels for $7 per towel which is ridiculous because the towels are only bath size. You can buy a beach towel for that much, After $380 for two nights and fees of about $90 for parking and resort fee and taxes I feel ripped off. When we left one of the employees brought our car to the street about 1 block from the entrance. We asked him to bring the car closer and he didn't say anything, he just gestured to us with the keys trying to hand them over. Really? Finally we got him to bring the car closer. No one helped up with our bags. I will not stay there again.
Location was awesome, if your looking for the South Beach Night life. Bar staff was friendly. Great front porch to sit on and people watch. Just a block walk to the beaches. It was difficult to understand the thick accent of the hotel staff, some extra effort to converse was needed. Bathroom was small and in need of updates. Hotel room was clean, furniture was sub-par for price of the room. Hotel is frankly old, and some of that can be charming considering the age of the Art Deco district, but it would be much more suitable for more than one night if the building received some attention and updates.
The location was great. Just one block from ocean drive and about 20 min walk from Lincoln Road. The staff was very friendly especially the doorman. He was very attentive and proactive when he noticed we needed beach towels. We would stay again. Maybe some better quality pillows and a coffee maker in the room.
Location Everything : rooms are awful, old and outdated, breakfast - disaster. ... Will never ever be staying there again.
Bed was comfortable. AC unit worked well. No parking - have to use their valet service for daily fee Lots of hidden fees, added over a $100 to the final bill for 2 days Laughable, dangerous tiny elevator cheap breakfast, lousy bagels Tiny child size toilet no towel rack We won't stay here again. Come to think of it, we won't stay in Miami Beach again. Overpriced tourist trap where everyone smokes in the bars.
The location of the hotel was as I expected. I've stayed in Miami Beach a number of times and location is generally more important to me. It was a short walk to Lincoln Rd Mall and a short walk to the beach. The hotel staff was quite pleasant. The room we stayed in was on the ground floor and immediately on Collins Ave. As you could imagine, it was pretty noisy. Also, the heat/AC unit in the room didn't appear to work correctly for heating. Unfortunately the stay overlapped with a cold front in Miami so it was a little chilly in the room. Breakfast was supposed to run until 10 but when we made it at 945 everything had been put away.
no parking!!! overpriced
Front desk was so rude not welcoming ended up cancelling before they gave me a room and to be more specific on why i cancelled they were slamming doors around because my travel agency was contacting them about my booking with them so I wasn't treated with any care there The rude staff the doors being slammed around and the comments they would say about me in the other room where the manager wouldn't even come out to fix the issue with my reservation
Was less than I expected The only thing that was good about it was the location. But the staff was great
Contrary to what many of the reviewers have said, the South Beach Plaza Hotel was very nice. The facility is well-kept and neat. The courtyard between the two buildings has a variety of interesting plantings, umbrellas, tables and chairs. My room was in the second building, on the other side of the courtyard from the main office/bar area. My room was completely remodeled, with the exception of the walls themselves. The room was clean and comfortable. This is a very nice hotel, near the beach and other points of interest. It is not super-luxury, but it is a well-kept older hotel. The price seemed a little high, but I have to admit it was the cheapest rate I could find other than at a couple of hotels that really had awful reviews! All in all, a good place to stay. What seems off-putting to many was the $12.95 "resort fee". I was told this was primarily for breakfast, but I wasn't able to be there to take advantage of the breakfast. When I inquired further, I was told it also covered wi-fi and the "wine reception", which turned out to be not really a reception at all (there was no one else at the bar on a busy Friday evening when I was there!), but entitled you to one (1) free glass of wine at the bar. So, for breakfast, wi-fi, and a glass of wine, it all seems rather reasonable! But I would suggest to the hotel to eliminate the fee and just raise the room rates a few dollars.
I cannot say enough about how terrible my stay was. I checked out a day early on 4/18 and am still struggling with their awful customer service as of now.
It is in the middle of South Beach, Ocean Drive. In front of the beach. Rooms to small for a Queen beds, the entire hotel needs a renovation. Paint the walls, change bathrooms. Bad service of TV Cable. Old televisions.
That is was on Ocean Dr.!!! Otherwise it was discusting with no privacy. I heard my neighbors conversation
Probably location Breakfast was not what I expected
It was terrible don't stay here
It is a cheap hotel, quite well located, but this is all positive, rest is poor.
location was great in front of the beach, unfortunately staff was not helpful or kind, also our bed was broken when we arrived at the hotel, rooms could have been prettier
position in front of the ocean, good seafood
Great location in Miami Beach / Buena situacion en Miami Beach The Hotel is in very bad shape... The electric outlets are hanging, the room had a broken window, the sheets had holes...Stay somewhere else, location does not make up for it! / El Hotel esta en mal estado...enchufes colgando, ventanas rotas, sabanas con agujeros... busque otro hotel!
The localization is perfect. The atmosphere of the hotel isn't good. Unfortnately it looks dirty and needs an urgent refurnishing indeed. Some suites doesn´t have ocean view.
The service at the retaurant (not owned by the hotel) was EXCELLENT!!! Bathrooms had no fan...
location was great, also beach towels were available hallways were dark. building's kinda old
The location is excellent for walking to all the normal places to visit - the beach, Ocean Dr., Collins & Washington, Lincoln Rd., etc. 1. The room was tiny. 2. The room and linens are either very old and/or dirty/stained. 3. The evening/night front-desk was extremely unhelpful. 4. The hotel does not provide any valet service coordinated with the hotel - i.e., the valet is completely independent, only takes cash, and you cannot pay through the hotel.
Such a great location and a nice looking botique hotel. But everything is ruined when the house keeping staff wakes up guests at 8 am by chattering to each other loudly in the halls waking me up 3 times before 9am. I'm the guest so your staffs behavior should not impact my experience. Yes you are a botique hotel so you should scale your service accordingly and know your staffs conversations carry through the entire floor. Don't stay here!!!!
Location! Loved how close I was to everything I wanted to see and experience. I didn't appreciate the size of the bathrooms especially the toilet area. I did not appreciate the fact that there is no parking or even a discount through the hotel. The decor can use an upgrade.
Nice hotel, good location, friendly staff You can hear people on the hallway, it's kind of annoying especially in th morning when u sleep.
the staff was not reaaly helpfull
Location, location, location. Pool and direct access to the beach. Walking distance to all things south beach. Views. Price relative to other resorts. It was $100+ per night cheaper than the National hotel It could have been a bit more updated but again, that is why it was cheaper. Shower could have been a bit cleaner and shower curtain and rod was the cheapest you could buy. Just a clear liner. Really no curtain. Bit of a musty smell but again, right for the price and not updated in a while so fine with me.
The best position in Miami Beach, close to everything! The pool is nice and they give beach towels. They don't have any agreement for the beach chairs. The bathroom could be better.
The location was excellent. It was within 2 blocks of Lincoln Street and 3 blocks from the Art Deco district. There was a private entrance from the back courtyard to the beach. The toiletries supplied were Neutrogena. Hard to resist using. The only thing was that I found the temperature to be too cold throughout the hotel.
Acces to beach Pool/ spa
The location was excellent. Good for shopping, sightseeing and of course, the beach, which was 1 minute walking distance away. None of the staff were friendly the 5 nights that we were staying at the Richmond and was really hard getting info out of them. Only the one guy was helpful and friendly. Did not like the hotels policy that i have to give my creditcard (because they do not accept cash) in case of damages(done to the room) during my stay at the Richmond, whereas at the other 2 hotels that i stayed at after leaving the Richmond had absolutely no problem accepting cash for any damage which could've been done to the room during my stay. Air condition in hotel was way too high. Aircon in room was broken the first nite and 2nd, 3rd and 4th nite, no hot water. I'm sorry to say' i didn't feel welcome at the Richmond.
Location was great. Breakfast was good food and price. Comfortable room. I was to have a superior room, but it smaller than a regular room.
I've really enjoyed the hot jacuzzi.
This is by far the best ocean front deal on South Beach! When you step into this beautiful Art Deco Delight, you feel as if you have stepped back in time, everything is original and has been beautifully maintained. Our accommodations were spotless, very clean and location is simply outstanding. We walked to everything! The hotel sits on the sands of the Atlantic Ocean and the board walk with a lovey pool and restaurant area. You can easily walk to Lincoln Rd and many other attractions. There is no doubt, you can feel the love and pride in this family owned hotel. Very refreshing for South Beach! We will be back! Thank you Richmond Hotel! Melissa There is no parking but to be fare, that's typical for South Beach. Valet is 40.00 a day 2 beach chairs and umbrella can be rented by an outside company on the beach for 20.00 a day. The matress in the room was firm
I like the location The staff wasn't much help. No one opens the door. The bathroom was dirty and smelled like urine. The pool never had towels. The walls are super thin and you can hear someone snoring next door. Most hotels have a USB socket, not this one.
The location, beach access & the pool. The weight room could use some improvements and coffee in the room would be nice.
I liked the location beach front close to restaurants and casual dance clubs. An older hotel with boutique stylish qualities. Good quality for the money. Restaurant in front over rated for the price. Go a few properties over for a better breakfast deal.
Nicely desgined room, the adjacent Front Porch Café with extremely considerate staff The room was not very tidy
The staff was very helpful and gave us all the information needed. The room was nice and clean. Moreover, the location was great - the beach was just across the street and all the main streets (Washington Ave., Collins Ave, Lincoln Street) were at walking distance.
Kingsize bed. Elevator has pinguins in it.
I liked the balcony and the fact that we had our own floor. I would definitiely go to this hotel and get the ame room.
Close to the beach, nice furniture. Room made always very late. Restaurant closed for dinner.
Breakfast on the front porch
Great location, really friendly and helpful staff. Front porch cafe is excellent however it's moving to 1458 Ocean Drive in Nov - still very close and worth visiting. Only negative is the beds are really soft and uncomfortable which will make me book elsewhere next time.
The location was wonderful and walking distance to everything. The room was inviting with style. The beds were not comfortable and the air conditioning system needs updating from old fashion window units.
I love it! It was close to the beach, the rooms were nice and the free breakfast in the morning was great. The staff was pleasant. Oh and they give two comlplimentary drinks which was nice as well. The best hotel on the strip that I've been to
Location of property was on Ocean street which is a prime location in Miami beach. Staff were nice, specially Alayna and Charlee who helped us Move to a larger and ocean view room from improper converted guestroom 106 which was by the lobby and kitchen with a lot of noise. Building is very old and poorly maintained, the carpet in elevator has stains on it and is secured with a blue tape to the floor. I studied the hotels around Miami beach and picked up Penguin for advertised location, cleanness and price. Unfortunately room pictures presented at time of purchase didn't belong to this property location and was taken from different property they have recently merged with (Presidential hotel on Collins street and newly build villa building on the back) with new appliances and wet bar, nice curtains which all were missing in this location. I would rate building condition for Penguin "one and half" stars at most.
Location - right off the beach - great restaurant on site - start of a great strip to walk and be entertained!!
It's a very nice minimalist Hotel. Extremely expensive in the amenities like parking and brakfast no
All around great staff Rooms are in need of a facelift. subpar wedding DJ's at the pool, bring earplugs. Sloppy Sunday crowd.
It location is great and the beach is lovely right out front. The rooms are tired and need a refresh. The check in process was strange. We were told that they were sold out of the room category and we would be upgraded for one night and then had to move. We went back the next day and since I guess we were prepaid they tried to give us a handicapped room and was told this was the only one available. We had an argument with front desk manage Sandra and after three tries we got a room overlooking the parking lot that was acceptable.
The beach Had smaller room from what we were told paid to upgrade
Everything. Location, access, food, the pool, music, rooms, and excellent staff customer service (kudos to Laura, Sofie, DJ, and Gary). Thank you! Our building was getting ready for shut down for renovations, wish we knew about it in advance but not a big deal, just a matter of optionality for rooms and extended stay.
Great location, nice pool, good restaurants, fun/clubby scene Rooms were a bit dated. I had a pool side bungalow (#1) and the downstairs was just wasted space. Didn't even have a couch!
Location Old bed , not comfortable
The hotel as such has everything it needs to be a heaven of quitness and luxery located in a nice part of Miami Not nice to stay there in a WE because than all they attention goes to the parties that are organised in the hotel. Hotelguest don't feel welcome any more at those moments. Families with kids even can't use the swimming pool in the WE ans at the beach they close at 5.30 pm !... During the night you're awakened regulary because of the noisy party guests, returning to their room. Conclusion: nice hotel from mo. till friday afternoon but otherwise, stay away there when you're whth kids !
I liked the smell of the lobby and it brought back memories for me when this was one of the coolest spots to stay in Miami Beach. It has definitely lost that X factor. Everything feels dingy and not kept up. Checking in was the longest process I have ever been through aNd the girl seemed nervous. Maybe she was new, but it was over and over the same information and had multiple cards for all kinds of things, unlike any check in experience I have had before. Seems like they get stiffed by other guests a lot before. The security are constantly checking if you are staying there and annoying...definitely have decided to hire less than personable staff in general. One of the front desk girls when handing me the final bill, held it out to me without looking at me as if passing on to the next task, CUSTOMER SERVICE 101! Treat each guest as if they are the only person in your world at that moment and look them in the eye with a smile. In general, the whole world has lost this touch, but you would think a 300 a night hotel would still care about this. Finally made it to the beach chair area after being asked twice to show room key by security and then the beach chair guy wanted me to walk all the way back to his booth to check in instead of just taking care of me at my chair. When I refused and told him to take care of it, he kept calling me boss in a derogatory way like I was asking too much. Hire people that care and understand that the only reason they have a job is because of people like me choosing your hotel!! This is standard and not asking too much. I should have great things to say because they did all of this basic stuff and then decided to do more!! They all need help on how to treat guests. There was a blood stain on newly replaced linen in my room. They did an okay job of responding but it should have never happened!!! They only took off the resort fee and $50 and then didn't do it! Had to remind the people upon checkout and they acted like I was lying to them. The valet brought my car when I asked and left it in the rain and not under the overhang!!! What?!! When I asked him to bring it out of the rain his reply was that they were too busy and slapped me on the shoulder like I was his friend and gave me a dirty look like I was asking too much. hahaha I will never again recommend this hotel to anyone as I always have in the past. I'M GOING BACK TO AIRBNB WHEN I TRAVEL NOW. HOTELS LIKE THIS ARE COMMON NOW.
Food Shows very poorly, everything seems worn and in need of replacement
Everything exept the noise It is not a hotel; It is a discoteque with rooms. It is impossible to sleep.
The resturants. delicious food. The service at the pool wasn't great could be a lot better.
The location! Hart from South Beach. Near gayscene.Great restaurants nearby. Big rooms. Cleaning off the bathroom could be better. Not a hotel if you want to go to bed early (noise off the restaurants outside). No WiFi at the room.
The location Very noisy. All night long and in the morning (garbage collection). They could have had double glazing and it would have been much better
Poor staff relationship, too noisy due to bars under the hotel, problem with bath sinks, not worth the money paid.
Central location, friendly staff, useful parking (10$) price a bit high but,...it's Miami Beach!!!!!!!!
The location -The room was advertised a a double budget. Got there it was only one bed. When i asked about it the front desk manager said he did not know what to tell me and no more rooms were available -Saw two or so small roaches in the room -There was a stain on the sheet when we first arrived -The room had a really old musty smell -Room was not cleaned everyday
Excellent value for the money. One of the most reasonably priced rooms in South Beach and one of the best locations.
The AC was nice and strong. Room was nice. Location was even closer to the beach than we expected and, although touristy, in a really fun area with lots of restaurants. Also enjoyed the discount offered at many of those restaurants. Enjoyed having a safe to use to put our minds at ease. Recently remodeled room. LOVED having beach chairs and umbrella to use on the beach! That made our trip! The continental breakfast was full of cheap, simple carbohydrates with little else. We went twice during our week long stay. Housekeeping did not always restock our room with amenities, i.e. coffee, soap, etc. Would have been nice to have a dresser to put our clothes and the room was pretty small.
would stay their anytime im in town again.
Location in the Spanish area and close to the beach. Our room had the cutest balcony overlooking restaurants. There was a guest laundry & kitchen. Bathroom, Towels and Bedding all clean. Staff helpful and organised a great tour of the Everglades for us. A long way from town, cost of cab from Amtrak to the Clay was horrendous.
This was nowhere in my kayak booking info. It was not optional, and it was in the middle of a neighborhood blocks from the beach. It was ostensibly to cover the continental breakfast and wifi. These things were advertised as free in the add. Dishonest advertising and not worthy of my business for any repeat visits.
there is only one towel per person/size as something between bath and face towel no hair dryer no shampoo no iron the rooms are smaller than how there look at the site review
The boutique Deco styling and its great location on a restaurant-filled walking street. No shampoo offered in the bath, limited towels, basic Euro amenities.
