San Antonio hotels near Arneson River Theatre

Pros: Small wi-fi connect issue (no fault of property), but staff took responsibility, and was moved to an upgraded room with even better views. I frequent other upscale hotels, always end up back here for the hospitality, service, facilities, history & building architecture. The hospitality, staff engagement, and atmosphere is above perfect. Rent a beautiful room, experience the original wood floors, and take a comfortable spa-style shower!

Pros: The location.

Cons: The room was very cramp. The restroom door was hard to open and close. The dresser doors in the room would not stay shut. We were accused of smoking in the room. We do not smoke! It was a very noisy hotel. Many homeless people at the entrance always.

Pros: We are moving from coast to coast during the COVID 19 crisis. The Gibbs Hotel (across from the Alamo) was not just open, they were extremely welcoming and caring within the necessary restrictions. We had the most beautiful room ever overlooking the Alamo. Although beautiful San Antonio was closed during the pandemic, we will not forget our stay at the Gibbs. It makes things so much better when everyone is worried and stressed to have a place where they not only remember their history, they preserve their beautiful hotel with all the modern amenities. This is a 5* property with 5* staff.

Cons: As a downtown hotel, they have parking in a city lot which is certainly going to be very busy and crowded in normal tourist times in downtown San Antonio.

Cons: I called the staff ahead of time to let them know I was coming in late, I would be there around midnight. I waited outside the hotel in the middle of the night in an unsafe environment because all the doors were locked and no one was picking up the phone (I called several times). The staff was no where to be found. I finally was able to get in because a guest was coming out. When the staff showed up, there was no apology.

Cons: The air conditioning control is control by the hotel staff. Room to hot after shower. The room smile stuffy when i checked in. The floors were scaped with bad floor marks. There was only one face towel in the room. There was no free breakfast only a box of oatmeal or cereal. I will never stay again.

Pros: The hotel was very clean. No hidden problems. Courteous and did their best to to take care of our childrens wishes. Made texas style waffles for the kids. All three kids were happy.

Cons: The free water for the coffee was missing. I mentioned that, and they promptly gave me fresh water, and an apology.

Cons: No bath tubs...showers only. Bugs everywhere. Elevators were extremely slow. Restaurant was sub par. Beds were cheap.

Cons: There was blood on the sheets and the handle bar in the tub was sticky and filthy . I was so disgusted. Also it’s a high price hotel and you have to pay for $19 for parking . Not cool

Pros: Hours for breakfast were good. The food was hot and there was plenty to go around—nothing ran out.

Cons: There could have been different variety of meat and bread items from day to day. The same items were served everyday.

Pros: The breakfast and the 5:30 kickback. They save a ton of money versus eating on.the Riverwalk or in downtown San Antonio. The hotel also has an exit directly on a populated part of the Riverwalk. And they have on site parking with unlimited in and out.

Cons: Due to the coronavirus, the hotel was mostly empty. They could have given me a room with a better view. It would have been better to not have a room next to the elevator, directly over the lobby, and just above the noisy brick drive.

Pros: The location was great ! And the rooms were comfortable and the beds so cosy. I slept so well! I also loved that there was parking available. Made it very easy to arrive. The staff were friendly and approachable.

Cons: I was less than impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel. The hotel had put in place some good measures to protect their staff from COVID which was very good to see but I didn’t feel there were very good measures for the guests. People were not required to wear masks, none of the tables in the main area were being cleaned between guests , I’d recommend they put out wipes so people can do their own cleaning if staff isn’t available. The pool area clearly hadn’t been cleaned frequently and was really busy even though we were told there was a reservation system in place. Our room had loads of biscuit crumbs on the floor when we arrived which made me question how thoroughly it had been cleaned. I just felt a bit uncomfortable to be honest. In normal times all of this would have been ok, but they need to step it up during these times.

Cons: Room was hot, no one came to clean the room and didn't get towels, tissue, or sheets changed. There was scaffolding outside of window obstructing view, construction going on outside room making it very noisy. Reservations changed and the front without proper approval, bed bugs at the hotel and bad odor on floor

Cons: Very dirty, outdated smells like cigarette and very dirty over all . Woke not return .

Pros: The room was huge. Very comfy and the location is perfect. Walking distance in most of the attraction downtown.Staff were friendly. We enjoyed our stay and we'll definitely stay again here when we come back..
