Modern, great service,, good food and wine. Convent to city and shopping. I will stay again.
the room was very comfortable - perfect location for exploring around shanghai. only stayed 1 night as a stop over before continuing on my journey, but gym was very good. i arrived at around 9am - normally check in is at 2pm; i asked if they could accommodate me; they said they could, but i would have to pay half a day extra!!! i have done this before at other hotels and never been an issue. also, first check in counter the staff said no room available so i waited an extra half hour and spoke to someone else who said there was a room available! crazy! also rooms looking a bit dated now, but otherwise comfortable; and yes i did pay the extra half a day! :(
spa was very nice and all staff were extremely helpful - definitely a pleasant place to be based out of, and a very central location for such a big, spread out city. lobby slightly dated, but possible it was just Chinese sense of decor. Recommend signing up for breakfast package, as we did not and ended up paying $50/breakfast for 2 which is ridiculously expensive over there
The location of the hotel is good. The pictures shown in bookin.com website is different from waht we got. the rooms needs refubishment.
- Good breakfast selection Oldfashion shower
Location, price/quality, gourmet corner! Room service comes very early (7.00-8.00 in the morning)
Closed to city center. Staff friendly. Have to modernize furniture of the room.
Location and convenience to subway and expressway. The shower was the worst that I had experienced in many hotels and that water smelled foul. It was impossible to regulate the water temperature. If I had more time I would have switched rooms.
Great executive lounge, comfortable rooms, friendly personnel. The bathrooms still no separate shower and very small
should be free no $21/day
the people working there really try their best and the service is excellent.
Front desk could not locate booking made on hotels.com
This facility offers very comfortable beds and an excellent morning breakfast buffet. It's my go-to hotel when I am in Shanghai on business. My room had a clear space for an iron, but it was missing. The hair dryer was cracked and broken, though it still operated. The shower door did not close well, and after every usage, there would be a significant puddle of water on the floor outside the shower (or a fully soaked towel).
This place had quite poor level comparing to other RITZ hotels I used to stay in. Breakfast was awful.
the ritz club lounge the pool was closed without notice, no Spa and people were allowed in the club lounge without even being guests of the ritz.
We had a very good stay in the Swissothel non!
Modern, clean and efficient. Good location and public transportation, such as the MRT Subway, is just a few steps away. The main restaurant on the 2nd floor offers an excellent buffet breakfast with great international food variety ; however, the staff needs to be more pro-active to ensure an efficient service. On several occasions there were no tables available, not because they were occupied by other guests but because they were not clean. The waiters, seems to be waiting for something to happen because some of them are not pro-active enough, seems they are waiting for instructions, or maybe they prefer to remain in their "comfort zone".
Nice, well furnished, comfy rooms. Professional staff. Good variety for breakfast. Coffee maker not the easiest to operate. OK location. Difficult to find taxi but ready access to Metro. Not the most helpful concierge.
Clean & big room. Comfortable interior decoration. Attitude of staff in reception isn't like 5 star hotel. Not enough hot water to take bath.
Clean, Modern, Great Water Pressure AC & Heater is very noisy (it won't allow you to sleep at night), Bathroom has see through window so no privacy from the room, beds are very hard, not enough plugs for computers, iPhones, iPads, etc.
Easy to get to by the metro, this hotel was a great value. Very nice rooms and a friendly staff, I very much enjoyed my stay. Easy walking to restaurants, the Jing An Temple and shopping.
The hotel is modern and almost perfectly located in the Jing'An district of Shanghai. It is a 5 min walk to the Subway station and around the corner from a number of great eateries both Chinese and Western. Travel time to places like the Bund/Concessions and Financial District are less than 30 mins by Taxi even less by Subway. Most of the staff speak some English which was not always the case in other 5-star hotels in China. Concierge was well informed and more helpful than the average as well. Another reviewer mentioned that they didn't like the hard beds. I like the firm, yet comfortable mattresses they have. All 5-star hotels in China provide you with two bottles of drinking water per day. Swissotel's bottles were actually half-bottles. This is really nit-picking but I couldn't think of anything else I didn't like!
If you want to use subway, its one block away. Shopping is right in front of hotel.
Staff very available and kind; the hotel is quiet, close to shopping area and places of interest
I really like the door guy, he new my friends name, even though he had not stayed in the hotel for 9 months. All the staff was friendly and the location was perfect. Location
The location is great.
Very comfortable hotel, superb attention to detail, very friendly staff nothing
The room design was amazing. .
The bed linens. The layout and views from the room. the pool and spa rooms. the breakfast. The pool was very long but narrow so that no more than 3 or 4 people could swim at one time.
the staff speak english and are very helpfull. the rooms are always clean and the location is perfect. spa is very expensive and is ten times what you get for the same service a few steps outside the hotel.
The Spa was perfect and well kept.Good flexibility in leaving room time. Good value for the Money. Overall carpet in room very old and dirty.
In general the hotel is well located, clean and for the time period in question (Shanghai Worl Expo), reasonably priced. Tricky as to breakfast coupon issued to guest. Assuming that breakfast is included (as I did) and if you used the coupon, hotel will charge you 170 RMB (about US$25 each) rather than the US$12 indicated by Booking.com. Front desk staff (one named "Fofanny") was rude and uncooperative and matter only get resolved thanks to Front Office Manager, Mr. Lance Mou.
The Hotel is comfortable and clean. Very near the subway (Line 2) and easy to move around. The Counter Manager (Andrew) is very helpful in providing us with very clear instructions on how to move around the subway and to the places we wanted to go. The chambermaids were very thorough with their work and were curtious when they met us.
The location of the hotel is very good to visit the shopping area of the city and it is not noisy at all even if close to the roadway. Staff is nice and helpful whenever their English is quite poor for a 4 stars hotel. Breakfast is not included and costs too much. Fridge bar inexistant. Room to small for being a deluxe. Then I personally did not like (my man yes of course!) the presence of too many easy going women at the bar during the night........................
The King Size bed. Avoid the Chinese massage place at the 3rd floor.
I appreciate the hotel's housekeeping staff very much. I found it so difficult to communicate with concierge staff in English. It would be more convenient if there were some staff at your front desk who can speak English well so that English- speaking guests like me will recommend your hotel to others.
Location was good. About a 10 min walk to Jingan subway. The one thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was they charged about $6 for internet in the room, but offered it for free in the lobby. However, they discouraged people from using it by placing 0 chairs in lobby, except for around a cafe with explicit signs that sitting there requires purchasing food or drinks at the cafe. Who ever heard of a hotel with 0 chairs in the lobby? It's a really cheap move.
Excellent location close to many facilities, very friendly staff - not always speaking english but willing to assist you Very high cost for use of internet! Very noisy - some kind of turbines working day and night just outside our window!
This is a beautiful old-world European hotel. Our room had magnificent woodwork. The concierge was very helpful. The tub enclosure had quite a bit of mold on the tile and the ceiling. The bed was the hardest I've ever slept in. At first I had to check to see if there really was a mattress.
A good location close to shops, cafés and restaurants The breakfast buffet was lousy, and the staff not serviceminded.
good location and staff a promotion in which they promised you a free upgrade in a superior class that actually they haven't done
How the Staff Treated Angie & I. I am Danny, Angie's Husband, taking this survey. I cannot say anything negative about the Jing-An Hotel. In Fact, when Angie Booked it as part of our Trip, I was Thrilled to be returning to the Jing-An. We stayed there during the '2K8 Olympics, & I became Buds with 1 of the Assistant Managers, who is still there. I wish he'd get in touch with me so I can send him a picture of He & I from '2K8! I Guess I'll just have to Mail it. . . . .
location, very close to downtown and shopping did not have the room I booked so was given a twin instead.
The hotel has big rooms. The service has international standers. The workers were professional but could be nicer. The location is nice (close to the subway – 10 minutes walk). Good choice to stay (quality/price).
This hotel is neither good nor bad. Internal equipments require to be refurbished.
Good location. interesting architecture and history. often difficult to communicate with staff - not many spoke English well eneough to make our requests known.
Rooms were nice and the location was perfect. Found the rooms overpriced along with the bar.
To enter the hotel you need to climb stairs, only way is to carry your luggage. I arrived with taxi and the bellboy had an arrogant attitude and looked reluctant to help me with my suitcase! One of the receptionist staff had the same attitude issue. You can't enter the garden (which was 1 of the main reasons for choosing hotel), hotel interior is old/worn down. Facilities are poor.
nicely designed. out of ordinary. nice touch of details (DVDs, yoga mat, ipod speakers.) shower and tub design are not practical. rain shower does flood the bathroom. better drainage is important. tub is a bit too large to fill. toileteries are lacking. usually boutique hotels have very nice toileries.
The peace and tranquillity when you stepped away from the busy street into the front courtyard of the hotel.Loved the seating area in our room and the fact that wi-fi was readily available.I used this for my ipod touch. No access to a computer-my husband would have found it useful. We would like to have been there when the new eating facility was in operation.(we knew that there was to be no dining available so this is not a complaint just think that it will be great when there is)
The location is good and metro is just 200 meters from the hotel. There are a lot of shops around the hotel so it is very convenient~~ no wifi
I can't say enough good things about this place: I got a suite with kitchen, living room and bedroom for 80 bucks a night. The staff were fantastic, always friendly and responsive. Fast internet (ADSL line), huge bath-tub, big flat screen TV with DVD player, fully equipped kitchen. And the location is on a quiet side-street very close to the Jing An temple and Jiu Guang Dept store. Perfect for me.
This is good for longterm stay. Not best fit for short biz trip like my case..
The location was great and the apartment really felt like you were living in Shanghai. Also the staff was super friendly and helpful. The floors were a little dirty. They could improve the cleaning a little bit. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't spotless either.
Very convenient position, adjacent to Jing An Temple and metro station. Comfortable well-equipped apartment. Very helpful English-speaking staff. Altogether, excellent place to stay in Shanghai and good value for money No adverse comment
