For these reasons, visitors should always book Thrifty car rentals in Oakland. You’ll be able to move around in the city more easily and even visit neighboring cities when you give yourself access to a rental car through a reputable company like Thrifty.
  • Even though Oakland is a big city in terms of its size, it has a population of almost 450,000, so it shouldn’t be too surprising to hear that the city streets and highways can get to be very congested during peak travel hours when people are commuting to and from work. It’s something to keep in mind when you go to book Thrifty car rentals in Oakland. Thrifty will be able to supply you with various types of rental cars, including full-size cars, SUVs, and even station wagons. But you may want to give serious thought to renting a compact car that you’ll be able to zip around in without getting stuck in too much traffic. As a bonus, it'll also be great on gas and decrease your travel costs.
  • Driving in certain parts of Oakland can really throw some people for a loop, especially when they’re new in town or just visiting. Even with the signage scattered throughout some areas, it can be confusing trying to find your way around. This is why you should consider reserving a GPS navigation system from Thrifty to go along with your rental car reservation. This add-on will increase the cost of your Thrifty rental car slightly, but it’ll also make driving in Oakland more manageable.
  • If you pre-pay for a rental car from Thrifty, you may get stuck with a cancellation fee if you have to cancel your reservation for any reason. It’s a much better idea to make a reservation without putting a credit card down for it. By doing this, you’ll give yourself an opportunity to cancel your reservation at just about any time without getting hit with a cancellation fee. Try to make a reservation like this as soon as you can so that you’re able to reserve the type of car you want through Thrifty.
  • Medium car hire from Thrifty in Oakland are around 27% cheaper than other car types, on average.

The experience was good. On the other hand, I had selected an electric vehicle and I did not noticed that I had done so. I think Kayak should make this information more explicit or do not select electric vehicles by default without asking the client since for long distances an electric vehicle might be a problem.Reviewed 1 Jan 2025

Scheduled a pick up for 9 am. We called at 8 am to ensure our car was ready; they said it was. We arrived only to have them let us know that they were sold out and had been sold out since 6 am and we were lied to. We were told that we had to wait two and a half hours if not more. It wasn’t until we waited in a line of 20+ people to speak to the clerk that told us we could leave earlier if we took an E.V. The customer service at hertz was horrible and thrifty was better.Reviewed 25 Dec 2023
