The problem wasn't with the pickup in Philadelphia, which was fine, but with drop-off in Washington DC. No employee showed up for work in the morning when I was supposed to drop the car off (this is the 7th St NW location). After waiting more than an hour and a half someone finally showed up, but said the office was closed despite Thrifty continuing to book reservations from and to this location. The quote I signed up for was incredible. After getting a second charge, I called Thrifty. Supposedly, they are trying to say there was $98 in taxes, just kept saying $55 was our taxes, but couldn't tell me what that meant, and when I requested an email copy of the bill, never sent it. Phuk Thrifty. On a positive note, the front desk guy for Thrifty in Philly was AWESOME. So, just be aware my issue was with undisclosed "taxes" that I have no idea what was even for. The women I delt with picking up the car was incredibly rude. She had MSNBC playing in the background and when I couldn't hear her speak and asked her to turn it down, she was very nasty afterwards and gave me so much attitude, while I was nothing but polite and professional. The car was gross as hell. Definitely wasn't washed on the inside as there was sweat stains everywhere, trash and personal effects In the car. Told the man at the gate about some bumps, like I was instructed too, but he didn't seem to write any of the information down. Trip went off without a hitch after that(was about a 6-7 hour drive through a tropical storm). But when trying to return the car I had issues. First of all I called the number provided to me in the email and was given incorrect information. I told him my drop of location, he kept insisting that it was the Boston airport even though I told him otherwise three times. He said an after hour drop off there would be ok then when completing the call said "Thank you for calling hertz". So since I couldn't trust him to even know what company he worked for, I called a different number and spoke to someone who knew what they were talking about. They said if I wanted to switch my drop off location it would cost me $70!? This would have been a location less then 5 miles away. So I said no and she them informed me the location I have is set up for after hours returns. The return location was in a parking garage with extremely tight walls and when I get there. All of the designated thrifty spots are full 😡 I was very frustrated again. I had to call them up and ask if it was ok to leave in an empty spot on the same floor, which they said was fine. The stress of that and the fact that they still have a pending charge on my credit card for double the agreed rental price a week after I returned the car is making me worry they will try to charge me for some bs after the fact. If at all possible I would avoid the car rental agency like the plague and go with more established ones.Reviewed 29 Aug 2021
