Staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. Breakfast on Sunday morning took an age to arrive as they struggled with most people wanting breakfast around the same time.
welcome and consideration, I was very late due to problems with delayed train but they made me feel very welcome and that nothing was too much trouble.Breakfast was excellent and hte staff brilliant no
The atmosphere was very friendly without being intrusive. The 'rules' of the hotel were explained concisely. The full breakfast lasted me throughout the day until 8 pm! this was an added bonus as I had no time to stop during the day. Well decorated and run. There were no guest reviews.
Helpful efficient staff and very close to town centre . Breakfast good . Bit noisy from night club close by .warmer bed coverings wouldnt have gone amis .
Thought the staff and the breakfast were excellent. Room was maybe a touch un-homely, but this is a very minor thing.
The staff where welcoming and efficient.
it was close to the town only there one night very nice lovely greeting from owner.
Nice, Clean Rooms. Great Location. Friendly Owners.
The friendliness of the owner and great breakfast A hairdryer in the room would be useful
My room was a suite and was very nice and clean. A bit to expensive
We enjoyed our brief stay, The location was quiet for a city centre, Great. The room felt as though we were the first guests, spotless & well appointed, with everything we required. Breakfast although stated as continental was substantial & well presented. In all much more than we expected. Many thanks Dave Gittus M.B.E.
Convenient position Cleanliness Good breakfast I was lucky with the car parking but others were not. More clarity on the limited parking would be more honest
The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean and tidy as was the rooms.
central situation prefer english to contl. breakfast
Location Noisy Corridors
All very clean and functuional Nothing
Value for money, cleanliness, location Hated the sliding glass door to bathroom - my daughter has restriced sight and it was not easy for her to use
Very well located to the High street. I found it easy to reach the venue of the conference I had to attend. No complaints.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. Good atmosphere Only 1 pillow.
Comfortable bed; great shower; adequate breakfast; better than some other estalishments in Gloucester! Bedroom reeked of cigarettes; no information in room (on service, hotel, city, etc...) except fire drill; paying in advance; no remote control on TV.
Towel rails were on all of the time so keeping the room very warm
Very convenient location for City centre and transport links. Single rooms are very, very small.
Room was to hot
Nice breakfast and ideally close to railway station. Room smelt of stale cigarette smoke.
Very easy to use, pleasant staff and generous over added guest at breakfast which in this day an age is commendable
very convenient for getting to cheltenham race course nothing
Unpretentious and good value for money. The only meal taken was breakfast which was well cooked and tasty. Disgusting outside area where several weeks collection of cigarette ends and litter were allowed to accumulate.
position Lack of a lift to top floor.
To be honest, there was not a thing I liked about the Hotel. The Hotel appeared very drab and shabby. After ordering a very expensively priced cocktail costing £8.00 at the Hotel bar, I was told if I wanted peanuts it would be another £3.00 please.
The staff were extremly helpful and friendly, always on hand and polite. Also I ws a great location. Slightly disappointed with the inside of the hotel. I have always wanted to stay there as it is the premier hotel in cheltenham but found the interior very old and seriously in need of redecoration.
Extremely pleased! Everyone was so helpful and kind! Room was very nice and cleaned well every day. Room service perfect along with huge food selection in restaurant. It really couldn't have been any better! Not one single thing! Someone mentioned a new owner within the past week I was there but I did not see any problems with that and the service at all. I would stay here always. Wish all were this great and perfect!
Central location. Bed very comfortable. Problems getting any food after 2 p.m. particularly Sunday (day we arrived) No lunch! No bar snacks/sandwiches! Also apart from the dining room you cannot get a light meal in the evening. Also our request for room overlooking the Park was ignored
the staff were lovely, the room was very clean
Quality and cleanliness of room Checkout is a bit fraught
Atmosphere and breakfast in conservatory! More information about what and where things in Cheltenham were- in file in room!
Old style hotel, good bar and perfect meeting place for Cheltenham race week, walk to points of interest in town. very noisy at night and the whole place is tired. For racing only.
Location. Room was comfortable and clean. Noise from the street outside. Despite the windows being shut, we had two nights disturbed sleep from the traffic and noisy passers by.
The friendliness of the staff.
Friendly and efficient staff and warm comfortable and tastefully furnished room. Could have done with a re-clean - perhaps the room had not been used recently. Cobwebs and spiders in bathroom and bedroom floor gritty.
Lovely location, friendly staff.
The comfort of the room, and the fixtures & fittings of a high spec.
very comfortable and welcoming. breakfast very good. good value for money
I thought the dark barn lodge had excellent facilities. I was very impressed with the standardr of the rooms, and it was exceptional value for money
Fantastic spot and the staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating
This was excellent and the standard was as we intended for 'business trip rather than a luxury weekend. We were very comfortable and the breakfast was great with everything we could possibly want for choice.
no bar available, pool and hot tub not available, both due to wedding but not advised at time of booking and hard luck attitude by staff
Friendly, willing staff. Informality.......to the extent of no-one on reception(!), despite agreement by email. Good basic fare. Bedding too soft. No bath - though did not specify this on booking. Shower did not work. The extensive facilities not open in the evening.
Clean, very comfortable bed, great power shower, great breakfast, friendly reception, good location. Room was cold when we arrived, flex too short on kettle, had to ask for towels.
Beautiful rooms, beautiful hotel, great location close to shops and places to eat/drink. Breakfast took over an hour the first morning as they are cooked in the order that guests arrive in the dining room and we all arrived at once!
Excellent for friendly staff. Accomodation was small but adequate. Modern but in keeping with the surroundings None
location & breakfast. the room had sloping ceilings, which was arkward because im so tall.
Location, welcome, decor, presentation, comfort, facilities My husband is tall. If we had known in advance about the sloping eaves we might have upgraded the room
Good location with parking. Good size room, good products for bath and tea, coffee in room.
Beautiful decoration of the rooms in true victorian style but which were comfortable and relaxing to be in.
Excellent decor, friendly staff, good breakfast, clean, comfortable, well- maintained and stylish. Lots of nice touches (papers available to read at breakfast, massive vases of lillies in the sitting room etc.) Good position in town. None
Very clean and comfortable. Good sized room with super bathroom.Excellent, albeit slow, breakfast. Good location.
This was our second stay at the hotel because it is very centrally located with good access to the centre of cheltenham which is only a 5 minute walk away, but it also also provides a very quiet location when in the hotel . The information available within the hotel is also excellent Nothing
New Inn has a most pleasant atmosphere with a real feeling for tradition and history. Comfortable if a little old fashioined rooms nothing
Extremely quaint hotel, well located with comfortable rooms, really good public facilities, helpful staff and good, reasonably priced food. None really
Nothing. Glad to get away. This was a nightmare experience from start to finish. Thanks to its location in the middle of a pedestrian precinct, it took me over an hour of circling the ring road in rush hour to find a way of getting my car to the well-concealed NCP car park closest to it. When I did arrive, the reception was locked, so I had to go to the bar to find any staff. The bar was so thick with tobacco smoke as to be absolutely intolerable. This must be a serious health hazard, and all I can say to the majority 77% of the population who do not smoke is that they should steer well clear of this place until smoking in public places is legally banned in July. A barman unlocked the reception in an attemp to check me in, but had no idea how to access the computerised booking system or a fax which had been sent for me. Eventually another staff member managed to do this, then demanded advance payment for the room and informed me that I could not charge meals or drinks to the room, and would have to pay separately for them. On departure the next morning, the reception was again locked, and it was only because I happened to bump into a passing staff member that I was able to return my key. This hotel has no understanding of the concept of customer service, and I will certainly not stay there again.
Easy Going friendly atmosphere No
Location was excellent and easy to find once car had been parked. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Having to leave car in a car park which wasn't next to the hotel.
Lovely looking with beams Cold room, thin duvet non working hairdryer, noisy generator all night long
ble to leave the car in the car park for 3 days.
The warmth and comfort of the bedroom Had I had a problem with stairs I would have been distressed, and the noise from the bar and club went on rather late.
Very clean hotel and nicely finished on outskirts of town being the last property on the road althought walking distance to the town centre. Also has a bar and restaurant open to the public. Good location for Race Course with excellent taxi service using mobile phone & text messaging to confirm your taxi is waiting avoiding it being taken by other people! It rained and we should have stayed longer! The hotel has no pool or leisure facilities so more a b&b than hotel.
As a solo traveller I found this small hotel very pleasant. There is a welcoming bar area and conservatory where one feels comfortable to sit on one's own. The owners are attentive to the traveller's needs but give you the personal space one would expect from a larger hotel; a good balance. I will use the hotel again. I would have preferred a larger television in my room.
Excellent, friendly service
In particular the food was excellent;both breakfast & evening meal with very comprehensive menu. The food was cooked excellently too.
The cosy friendly, atmosphere and they went that extra mile for us.
The hotel was nice and the rooms were clean and tidy. It was very quiet during our stay and I can't fault the hotel at all. Nothing
Very nice large room. All was tidy and clean. Breakfast was particularly good. Proprietors could not do enough to make sure we enjoyed our stay.
Very friendly staff, clean and tidy room, good food, free wifi.
Very friendly & helpful staff / management. Convenient location for Cheltenham and the Cotswold countryside. Uncomfortable bed, but may just have been that room.
My husband and I found the hotel to be in an ideal situation, on the edge of Cheltenham where it was peaceful but close enough for shopping if you want to, and we found our weekend to be very relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed it There was nothing we could fault about our stay at the Charlton Kings Hotel
Free WiFi, ability to leave car in hotel car park and walk into city. Good breakfast. The meal was not home cooked but it was served in my room which was convenient and warm so quite acceptable and preferable to venturing out on a cold night.
Good Location,Clean, Breakfast Very Good, Room was Large and comfortable. Nothing to dislike
position close to centre of town, only a short walk to shops, eating and local sights surrounding area a little run down but hotel ok
That is was very close to the central part of Glouchester, and that they had a bar.
The service was good and our breakfast host most polite and accommodating, providing useful information on request. The bed was too short for a couple who are both 6ft tall. On all of the three nights we had to park in the back alley as there were no available parking spots or access was restricted by patrons large vehicles (vans).
sightseeing in Gloucester
Very quiet and comfortable room followed by a hearty breakfast. There was nothing that I could fault this hotel.
Friendly helpful staff N/A
The lovely warm cosy lounge where there was a wood burning stove and although I was the only one in there it was lit just for me.
Friendly staff, very clean and well presented room walking distance from the town centre. Parking was included which would have proved difficult otherwise, a very good base camp for a shopping trip.
It was clean, comfortable and relaxing. A place to recharge the batteries. I have no negative comments to make.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Also to be upgraded without any additional charge is always a bonus. I felt the prices for wine were a little steep.
Clean well appoinred rooms. Pleasant view over Cooper's Hill. Excellent breakfast.
It was good value, especailly at teh discount rate.Breakfast staff were very friendly. Two lifts, one broken, other only held3
THe hotel and location
Modern, clean, large sized room with all facilities including fridge (with fresh milk!), tea-maker, etc. Comfortable, king sized bed, air conditioning and all usual bathroom requisites. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Set in own grounds with ample car parking. Semi rural location on scenic A46 to Bath and within short driving distance from Cheltenham & Gloucester. Also within reasonable distance from Tetbury (i.e. Highgrove & Westonbiirt Arboretum) & Stroud.
food and accomdation was excellent - great value wekend break perhaps only small thing was to have better pilllows
As above - price of drinks
Good breakfast Toilet seat was broken in our room, it was just sitting unattached on top of the toilet. Long (human!) hairs on the bed cover
The breakfasts were superb, very wide choice and all excellent quality. The evening dinners were very poor, only a limited menu which is only changed about every 3 months and the quality was not good at all. Difficult to believe that the same kitchens prepared breakfast (see above) and dinner.
Friendliness of staff, convenient location of hotel, room was exceedingly comfortable and immaculately clean.
Well run, friendly hotel in an excellent location for Cheltenham's shops and facilities. Good breakfast, attentive staff. The room we were in was rather small
Very happy with the welcome received, the manner in which we were treated was both personable and professional. We will be staying again soon. N/A
Having stayed there 12 months ago, when I was extrememly satisfied, I rebooked again without hesitation. As on that occasion, I Had no complaints so will stay there again when the need arises in the future. The small number of car parking spaces within the boundary of the hotel. However, there is sufficient unrestricted parking on the wide road outside so is not much of a problem.
Quiet location but very close to the centre of Cheltenham. Helpful, informative and smiling staff. All was very good.
Very welcoming on arrival, room warm and comfortable. Excellent breakfast, staff very efficient. Owners took the time to introduce themselves to their guests. Would reccommend this hotel.
The excellent customer care- accommodation and breakfast superb
Friendly and welcoming staff and owners. Room very clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Convenient for town center and restaurants.
Good situation for shopping and meals out. Able to use nearby pool for free swim (5 mins walk) . Attentive owners happy to offer suggestions and very clean room. Slight musty smell on entering our room each time despite leaving windows open but soon un-noticeable so only a very minor point otherwise good.
it was relaxing.Very close to shops and town centre.Very close to eating places. No
Attended wedding reception which seemed well run. Staff were excellent from the reception through to breakfast Shower unit very small
Grounds and style. Good staff, large room. Stunning building. Bar shuts at 11 and I arrived at 11. Apparently you can ask for a drink but that feels a little desperate.
We enjoyed our stay very much and found it very relaxing. It is ideally situated to visit the areas we were interested in. The fireworks from the Cricket Club and a wedding that was being held was a problem as we came away to escape all that with our dog but that was our fault as we should have asked about it before booking. The worst thing was the fire alarm (false alarm) going off at 11.45pm which woke us up and was a real shock. Took us ages to get back to sleep.
Dinner was excellent and the staff were friendly. The surroundings were attractive and it was an ideal area to explore 3 counties. Being a large country house it was generally quite cold. I would have liked to have been informed that our room had a shower and no bath.
Stunning appearance in beautiful countryside. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent I thought the price to eat in the restaurant was excessive for the time of year. This was backed up by the fact during our two night stay we didnt see any guests use it
the location was on top floor which was old tired and needed a paint , had pile of laundry bags outside door to room lift didn't work . the list goes on !!!!
The location/surroundings and the presentation/food quality of the breakfast. Central heating not working in bedroom on a cold night.the receptionist did bring us an electric heater.
Log fires, location and grounds Disappointed to find bathroom facilities broken
Lovely location beautiful grounds and an interesting building There was 3 weddings over the weekend and the guests tended to block the entrance, ussually smoking, which was unexpected
Friendly, caring staff, excellent food, firework display in the evening!
The hotel was lovely. We have travelled for 2 months and this was the best hotel for warnth and friendliness, great rooms, great area and every welcoming owners where nothing was too much trouble. We will love to come back again.
This hotal is so excellent! Staffs were very kindness and freindly. A room with view and larger than is offten the case. We ate full English breakfast. It's so good! I always recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a venue.
Owners of the Cleeve Hill Hotel are most courteous and helpful. Delightful to converse with.
It is proprietor run and the husband and wife team is very friendly and attentive. Excellent cooked breakfast. The ensuite, but the owner is having that upgraded soon.
made to feel very welcome.
the welcome and help from the owners; the good sized room; the view the shower in our room tended to flood the bathroom floor
The hospitality was wonderful, the premises itself was beautifully kept, light, bright and spacious with views to die for. The room we had was really spacious and they hadn't forgotten those little touches that make all the difference, flowers on the bed and a few chocolates plus bottled water as well as the tea coffee, biscuits! A lovely welcome on arrival with tea and cakes in the lounge went down a treat. Breakfast was really good with an excellent selection, we really enjoyed our stay!
Staff (who were actually the owners. Location. There were cobwebs in the bathroom. There was a lot of noise which sounded like radiator pipes kicking in which did wake us up very early.
Very pretty , comfortable room, and nice view from the window! There are sheep and cow at the hill - back of the House -. And owners are kind, friendly. I had great time!!
Lovely and unusual place to stay. Food and service excellent.Breakfast in conservatory most enjoyable. Room a little dark. En-suite needed a little refreshing.
Breakfast good choice Room a long way from entrance
The rooms were comfortable and well equipped, staff freindly and helpful the setting beautiful. What let it down was the restaurant which was pricey and the food average or less. My daughter is a vegan and ordered olives and bread as a starter from the menu. We asked about the composition of the chopped olives as my daughter could smell fish the waitress did not return, when we finally asked someone else they came back and said anchovies were included and a bowl of balsamic vinigar by then we had all finished ours. For mains we ordered a selection of vegetables and asked them to include some mushrooms and asparagus, what was delievered was a plate of boiled cauliflower, broccolli and carrots. They called this stir fry and charged us £12.50
Nice looking hotel, very nice reception area. The room was very small, have to close the wardrobe door to get into room. Bathroom tiling in need of repair and sink was blocked. Buffet style breakfast at £12.50 per head, was nothing special and only just warm
service was good room service was slow it took 50 miins and fire alrms consistantly going off
the bathroom was poor and basin drained very slowly.
our room was very spacious and very clean, but quite a long walk away from the main block. everybody was very freindly. we eat one night in the restaraunt,we did nit feel the layout and organisation for a evenig meal was very personal and private, felt like you were eating in a canteen, and food was quite expensive for what you got. more than adequet for breakfast though, breakfast very good.
Friendly. Quiet. Staff were helpful. Good facilities - pool, resturant, bar, taxi service etc. Hotel loks a little bit old in places.
it was just ok, didn't feel 4 star access at arrival, directing you to carpark at back then through staircases and corridors back to main reception we could have accessed from front, felt like a delivery not a guest, the room smelled badly of damp, as must the others as the whole corridor did.
lovely rooms. excellent facilities
Food is very poor value for money, breakfast is poor
easy access to Cotswold countryside
