Key Largo: The Town and the Island

While the island in Florida Keys is also called Key Largo, most visitors will head to the town of Key Largo, a sleepy seaside village with a population of just over 10,000 residents. It’s amazing that such a place is just a couple of hours from a major metropolis, and standing on the beach facing out to the Bahamas, you’ll feel a true sense of tranquillity. The town enjoys 3,000 hours of sunshine each year, and while the island's moderate size avoids overcrowding, June until August are the hotter months, and are therefore the most popular.

The town is popular with divers due to the coral reef, and the safe warm tropical waters are great for novices too. Key Largo holidays are also a great idea for animal lovers, and the Crocodile Lake National Wildlife Refuge is just a short distance away, on the north of the island.
