5.0 Okay
Pros: The property is immaculate. The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. The support staff at this hotel do a fantastic job
Cons: The level of service from the hotel employees (support staff such as room attendants and groundskeepers excluded) has gone downhill drastically since the private acquisition.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nice with Jonathan Adler items sprinkled throughout. There was a nice soaking tub and separate shower too. The balcony opened to a lovely court yard. The hotel isn’t right on the beach but it’s only about a 15 min walk to the beach or you can take their cute signature trolley to their beach side bar. The private beach itself is small but beautiful. The hotel has a few restaurants and pools to choose from. The staff is extra nice and the place is dog friendly! They gave us a cute dessert to celebrate our Christmas stay.
Cons: Everything at the resort is wildly expensive. I’ve been to the Ritz and Montage and their restaurants and bars aren’t even that expensive! Cocktails are very pricey (more than what they charge at a fancy bar) a simple breakfast (we didn’t order a lot at all!) was $100+ and to top it off, valet (which is pretty much mandatory because street parking is non-existent) is $50/day. Our stay would have been fabulous if the dining/amenities didn’t cost more than our hotel rooms!

7.0 Good
Pros: Cleanliness, beautiful grounds
Cons: Couldn’t see out windows very well as we were in a “tower” room.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was extremely clean the mattress has very comfortable the TV excellent everything about the room was great just the restaurant experience horrible the coffee in the room also could use an upgrade really horrible coffee.
Cons: desk staff excellent the staff in the restaurant very very poor I walked in to sit at a table it was a mess there was food everywhere I've been sitting there for 10 to 15 minutes waiting for somebody to come by and clean it up and to offer me a menu. Finally someone came and cleaned up the mess but the table was still sticky and dirty. They ask for my room number I said I'm going to pay in cash she said I need your credit card and I simply said, "I'm not comfortable handing you my credit card" no alternative was given to the situation instead of saying oh okay I'll take your room number and that'll be fine and then you can pay in cash, nope, she insisted on taking my credit card and I said again "I'm not comfortable with that" her reply was.... an eye roll and walking away. That's it!!!???? Never got to order a drink actually walked out of the restaurant very dissatisfied. Not what I expected out of a very nice restaurant the whole experience really left me sour to the Marriott exclamation exclamation exclamation.
7.0 Good
Pros: It was very quiet
Cons: I did find some food on the floor and we were only staying the night there we got there at 8 PM and we had to leave at 7 AM and we were charged a resort fee On top of what we paid to stay there so that was a surprise to have to pay extra just to sleep
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every aspect of my stay was fantastic. Michael at the front desk had trouble finding my reservation (not his fault at all) and I maybe waited 5 minutes. Because of my patience he gave me one of the best rooms with an incredible view. The food on site was very well presented, delicious, and good quality for the price. Being in the food industry I really appreciate when a hotel has a great restaurant.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: Substantial building work going on which was not mentioned. View from room of car park . Additional resort fee and compulsory parking charge added $70 + per day . These charges were not overtly advertised. Fridge in the room didn’t work, robes were removed, room was not cleaned until very late in the day. A total rip off.

Pros: The location was beautiful and the waiter and bartenders super
Cons: The daytime reservation staff terrible and no willing to do late check out. Additionally, the patio was filthy dirty and unacceptable

3.7 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: Bathrooms were really gross, the tub didn’t drain, the shower curtain was tattered, the sink area was just old and had chipped countertop. When I turned AC unit on to access the fan because there was so much humidity in room, black stuff came flying out. The blackout shades are useless because all the balconies have a bright light and it comes shining through. One positive, is that your breakfast lady takes pride in what she does and area is kept clean and well stocked. Hot tub could be wayyyyy warmer as well.
6.0 Good
Pros: Local location close to bars restaurants very very walkable to everything necessary to enjoy a short getaway or along get away for that matter. I have stayed at the Dana Point Marina Inn frequently for the past two years. The perfect location to Dana Point Marina activities.
Cons: The bathrooms are never completely clean there's always hair left behind. Hotel needs updating...carpet is awful throughout.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unpretentious, nice place to stay adjacent to marina. Easy to walk south to beach and inland to shops and restaurants. Clean swimming pool and hot tub, with towels and good seating/lounges. All desk staff were friendly and very helpful. Room tidied up daily - it included fridge and microwave. Close (10 minute drive) to Laguna Beach and wider range of restaurants, beaches and shops.
Cons: Nothing to report!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from our room, we asked for a bay view and they gave us the pool view, with bay. Very beautiful! Is was a nice walk to stores and restaurants and the dock.
Cons: The noise down below room, 6 a.m. people shouting and talking, almost screaming very early in the morning. They were sitting in their balcony below and very noisy.
3.4 Mediocre
Pros: I wish I could have stay there to find out what I like.
Cons: If they had given us the rooms we booked it would have been amazing. we booked and paid for the rooms, and then when checking in they said, sorry its a holiday weekend and there was a mix up with your booking and we DON'T HAVE ROOMS for you.... so they out us in a Hilton near by, it was already 9PM when we checked in and missed dinner. Horrible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great reasonably priced hotel Simple. Clean. Nice staff. Great location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I chose this place because it was close to where I needed to be early the next morning. And because it had a pool and was close to the beach in case I wanted to take a dip. It delivered on all those. The staff was friendly and helpful and the parking lot big enough for me to park my car with trailer while not causing problems for other guests.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Comfortable clean living area. We had fun hanging out on the deck.
Cons: Bathroom definitely needed an upgrade and it wouldn't hurt to clean under the mat in the tub once in a while.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed. Simply amazing. The bathroom alone made it one of the nicest hotels to date. And I’ve stayed at some high in hotels. Staff was great. If I needed something towels etc.. 10 mins tops. Always greeted. Read my bible over the beautiful view of the ocean. Morning breakfast a delight. I could go on but I’d be here writing all day and night. I’ll be going there again. Great location. Small and cozy for you and a loved one looking to get away.
Cons: Everything! Literally nothing more nothing less
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The feeling of home, only better because this was a long overdue get-away, together with a birthday celebration. If you haven't spoiled yourself in a long while, then make yourself a promise to do so at this intimate inn on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location overlooking Dana Point Marina and the Pacific. A significant % of the rooms overlook the ocean, including a separate balcony for each (ask for one of these - worth the extra $). Very supportive staff; excellent breakfast; well laid out and nicely furnished rooms. Located 5 miles south of downtown Laguna and 2 miles from San Clemente & San Juan Capistrano. Many good restaurants and small town downtowns to explore.
Cons: To obtain all of the good things available at this boutique hotel, you pay somewhat more than an average rate per night
7.0 Good
Pros: Most every thing
Cons: Had dinner reservations at 4:30 in Laguna. Requested if possible to get into to room a few minutes early, left phone number. No call and room not even ready at 4:00. Appeared to be no effort to accommodate. Disappointed but will not judge Blue Lantern on act of one person.

Cons: Everything was perfect.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Location and view is nice, but not worth the unprofessional staff.
Cons: Lack of safety and unprofessionalism... Unsafe premises, unbelievably unprofessional staff. I received a refund, but other travellers must be warned. Key to our room was issued for other guests and we were walked on when having an intimate moment. When complained, we were told we could leave if we were unhappy!!! At 8 pm!!! It was a traumatizing experience that totally ruined our vacation. Also we were given a parking view room without being contacted or informed about it, then told that they really did not have to communicate it with us!

Cons: We asked for a late check out and the gal at the front desk said 11:30 am. I asked for 12:00 noon and she said no because someone already rented the room. Come on, who rented room 337 on a Sunday?

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a perfect last minutes place to go, price was good and downtown has great places to eat.
Cons: No, its right off freeway and got me away from Irvine for the week.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean room with patio . Good tv choices . Nice pool /jacuzzi
Cons: The Maids and their carts were loud in the morning . The people above us were also loud. Also no movie rental available.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stunning view from the balcony. Easy access to the freeway & shops.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Bed was comfortable. Convenient location.
Cons: Door felt cheap/unsafe - Very dated room - I thought it was a newer hotel - The lobby was shabby and cheap -The staff were not warm or welcoming - very distant - I will not stay here again
1.0 Poor
Pros: location
Cons: false information about shuttle hours and crib avaibility
9.6 Excellent
Cons: A little hard to spot from the road, I missed the entrance
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Not much
Cons: left at 9:30am, came back at 1:30, room not touched. Left at 2:00 pm returned at midnite, still dirty I'll never stay there again!!!! House keeping sucked.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing!!!
Cons: Old, not updated, depressing, right next to the freeway, even if sheets and towels are clean, everything looks dirty, awful dirty rug. Breakfast on cheapest paper plates with cheapest plastic forks and knifes (even at 99 c stores you find better ones).
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean fairly modern Best Western all amenities and the best breakfast I have had at a chain hotel with a complimentary breakfast in a while
6.0 Good
Pros: This hotel has a good location. The side away from the freeway was quiet. Imagine that the side facing the freeway would be noisy.
Cons: This hotel is difficult to get to because of road construction. That's not the hotel's fault. My room had several drawbacks that would have been easy to fix. I told staff about them, but nobody seemed to care: 1) The computer desk was useless because it had no available electrical outlets. How difficult would it have been to put in a lamp with an electrical outlet in the base? 2) The A/C unit was old, noisy, and difficult to control. It blew out the curtains above it. How difficult would it have been to put in a modern thermostat, and a plastic deflector to keep the curtains in place? 3) The microwave was impossible to use on any setting other than full power. 4) The message light on my phone blinked constantly. How difficult would it have been to supply instructions for how to turn it off?
6.0 Good
Pros: The hotel staff was very friendly, and the room was clean.
Cons: The hotel really needs to be updated, and something should be done to reduce the road noise. The room was also quite drafty.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: comfy bed
Cons: bed too tall

Pros: Convenient location, reasonably cheap
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Although the hotel is a little tricky to find, the location is great. Not far from the Dana Point Harbor. Close to the freeway and yet still quiet.
Cons: We didn’t really look into it because we were busy visiting family, but we didn’t see a hot tub. Also, breakfast would’ve been that much better if there were scrambled eggs offered, but neither of those things would stop us from stay

Cons: So to the freeway without an ocean view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: EXCELLENT breakfast and the location was nice for our vacation.
Cons: A couple of fold up chairs or balcony chairs would have been nice. And the TV audio was distorted-----cutting in and out at times-----believe it to be a DISH reception problem vs. a TV problem.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: I found out they are pet friendly which is good to know. They are located right by the outlets and there is a free trolley that takes you around the city. It is always clean and comfortable in the hotel. The breakfast is good, plenty of options.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I like that the room was clean. It had an iron, a microwave, a fridge, an air conditioner.
Cons: The staff didn't greet me, didn't smile. They were unfriendly. It is overpriced for this kind of service. If you are not going to smile and greet customers, then charge them in the $---, not the ---s. I am not coming back!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best free breakfast I have had at any hotel! There is something for everyone. So good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is the best
5.0 Okay
Pros: Remodeled room, comfortable bed, king size pillows, good breakfast choices

Pros: The property/ the pool , even though there is construction going on .
Cons: I was given a room under a shaft with a dumpster by my window and had to call the desk for a new room then I was offered the room by the elevators. Then I was told no rooms ready til 3:00 it was 130 about .. then 5 minutes later a room was found . I am glad he found a room so quickly . I was disappointed by the process ..my family and I utilize this property a lot when in CA.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Good location, pleasant and helpful staff. Hotel was clean. Parking was good, free laundry was useful. Marginal breakfast was OK, but no whole wheat muffins or bread!
Cons: Booked a timeshare setup - should have cooking and eating facilities, and reasonable seating accommodation. Instead, we got a microwave, no table or chairs, one armchair and one desk chair. There was a jacuzzi we didn't need. Shower floor was like glass.
7.0 Good
Pros: Pool lounge chairs and cabanas. Clean and good hot breakfast
Cons: Rooms and hallways seem outdated

8.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the overall feel of the location. The look gives a classy feel and the staff was super helpful.
Cons: They could work on the aesthetics of the location for the included buffet. A little quality boost with the food and rebuff of the room should make this part more appealing.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great!!! From the location to parking to breakfast and the room it self. We will definitely check in here again!!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great it's within walking distance of downtown. You do have to walk about a mile to the beach but free shuttles offered during the summer. Décor in hotel is modern, free parking and breakfast included was great. Staff was very friendly.
Cons: The pool is not heated, and the spa was too hot. This to me would be an amenity a lot more people would use if the temp was more pleasing. The rugs in the lobby could use a cleaning too.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff. Easy parking and access from the freeway. It was good value for San Clemente. The hotel is about 1km up the hill from the beach. The walk up and down to the beach is enjoyable as you pass lots of shops, restaurants and a few parks, but some people may find the walk steep. Breakfast was adequate.
Cons: Some rooms are level with the freeway so if looking at a constant flow of cars bothers you, ask for a room away from this.

2.0 Mediocre
Pros: We liked the friendly staff and the location of the property.
Cons: the room we got was in the back of the property and it has a greatly slanted floors. Also the wall were extremely thin and unfortunately the was a sick child in the room next door therefore we were up most of the nigh due to severe coughing from the child. There was also mold in the tub and shower curtain.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The staff was very friendly and when we were checking in there was a line of people of 8 other people checking in and we only waited 30mins which I found rather impressive.
Cons: I choose this hotel because of its location to a wedding we were attending. The room was so bad. So bad. The tile floors were cracked. The kitchen appliances were rusted. The sheets were stained and thin. There was no mattress pad. The comforter had burn holes. The bed was honestly so bad I couldn’t sleep. We ended up leaving in the middle of the night because the room was just so awful and the bed was so uncomfortable. $20 would be too much for this room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Every time I come to San Clemente this is my go to hotel to stay at not only because of how close it is to the sea but because the staff is amazing and I actually feel safe even when I stay for work things and I’m staying alone.
1.0 Poor
Cons: Glasses had dried Tang in the bottom. Spaghetti left in the room. Cockroach in the sink. Hair on the floor. No one in the office between 9 PM and 9 AM No coffeemaker/ fridge Extremely thin walls. Added a resort fee . DEFINITELY NOT a 2.5 star.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Delicious warm breakfast. Lots of options. The breakfast are was very clean, nice and welcoming. Coffee, tea, muffins, omelet, different kind of breads, oatmeal was served.
Cons: Everything was perfect.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel and its surroundings are very well kept

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, cleanliness, comfortable bed

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was great, very spacious and comfortable! The property was close to the ocean and I enjoyed the outdoor yoga on Sunday!
