I reserved in advance, then showed up and after waiting in line for too long was met with a number of taxes and fees that more than doubled my cost. I was offered the chance to pay to upgrade to a different vehicle (at a good rate!) then when I said no thank you I was told my preferred vehicle was actually not available but they could upgrade me for free to one of the same vehicles I had just declined paying to upgrade to, which seemed deceptive. I will not use Dollar to rent a car again. Duplicitous, deceptive pricing, didn’t have my reserved car.Reviewed 22 Aug 2026

On Kayak I booked an intermediate, Honda Civic or similar. When I arrived at the Dollar counter I was told I booked a compact, Chevy Spark. They said they have no relationship with Kayak and whatever it said on Kayak about the kind of car I'd get was meaningless. The counter agent gave me a free upgrade to a Toyota Corolla anyway, after I declined paying for an upgrade to a bigger car.Reviewed 11 Aug 2026

“Booked” this rental car to get to work only to find out at the counter they don’t take US Bank Visa cards. This is my main brick and mortar finaincial institution and they would not let me rent a car. Waste of time that made me late for work having to book an uber.
