Bait and switch. I was scammed out of $100. I reserved a standard van (12-15 people) and they didn’t have that size vehicle and could only give me a minivan which was too small. When I cancelled, they charged me a $100 fee.

Car was older and fairly high mileage but comfortable and in good running order. Headlight lenses need cleaning or replacement; backup camera image was grainy.

I reserved a car and went to the rental car area. The representative saw me but ignored me for about 5 minutes and then told me she didn’t have any cars but if I wanted one would have to pay more money because they had the higher tier level cars only. If they didn’t have any cars then they should have given me the higher level car at no extra charge. I ultimately cancelled the reservation and went to hertz where they were more than happy to help me.

On Kayak I booked an intermediate, Honda Civic or similar. When I arrived at the Dollar counter I was told I booked a compact, Chevy Spark. They said they have no relationship with Kayak and whatever it said on Kayak about the kind of car I'd get was meaningless. The counter agent gave me a free upgrade to a Toyota Corolla anyway, after I declined paying for an upgrade to a bigger car.

I don't like that Dollar agents try real hard to upsale me on insurance and cars. Additionally, I turned my rental in 24 hours early and they charged me for services not rendered.
