Car was not ready at reservation time. Had to wait over one half hour for a car. Then I was given a car I had not requested, an EV. Sarasota desk said it was at full charge and said there would not be a charge. Drove it 27 miles total. At turning it in in Venice, office had no electrical power, so could not finalize receipt. When I received receipt later, I was charged for use of 30% of battery charge. Called Hertz 800 number for explanation and agent was totally useless. Did not understand my request and all he could say was “mail in a receipt if you think you were overcharged for fuel”. I tried to explain the issue was that I could not have used 30% of battery in driving 27 miles, but all he could do was repeat same answer. Requested to speak to supervisor; was told one was not available and would call back. Waiting for the call back.Reviewed 2 Oct 2024

They canceled 20 minutres after I went online and made the appointment.Then I tried to contact your company Kayak and did not refund the insurance. I also had to pay for a Uber cancellation. There was nothing to ‘like’ about my experience with ‘Hertz. They were closed (16:30, pst), when my flight arrived at ‘SCK’, 20Sep2024. To visit my family. I had to pay your competitor an additional $150 to rent their vehicle, yet they closed at 18:00 that day.Reviewed 30 Sept 2024

The vehicle was good, but spoilt by not having an owners manual, so it was difficult whilst driving to understand some of the controls and what the car was doing by itself. I had to go onto the internet to find out what the buttons on the steering wheel did. Finally on returning the vehicle, I told them that a stone had hit the windscreen and it had a crack. When told that the 'costly' collision damage waiver did not cover the cost of repair, I was dismayed, I was told I should be able to claim on my travel insurance. Subsequently, Hertz have included a bill for 808 pounds for the repair of the windscreen. I shall challenge that as I got a quote of 148 pounds for the same repair. I have told my bank to hold over that payment, whilst the matter is resolve with my travel insurance. None of the paperwork I received from the people at the yard, gave me any indication of the exclusion of damage to a windscreen would not be covered by collision damage waiver.Reviewed 29 Sept 2024
