10.0 Excellent
Pros: So welcoming and helpful - the pot of tea and help with luggage was really appreciated
Cons: All good!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Once we got in the front door, we were very pleasantly surprised by the decor, cleanliness, compactness of the facility. There are only 4 or 5 rooms - the rooms are small, but well appointed and very pleasant.
Cons: Our only complaint - which was partly our own fault - was that the innkeeper is not on property, and arrangements to get into the property need to be made prior to arrival. Once we connected with the innkeeper, all was well.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location, comfortable room, friendly staff, good breakfast.
Cons: Coffee for breakfast not great.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room. Well-maintained and very clean. Very convenient for centre of town.
Cons: Watch out if you've got a second floor room and you're quite tall. Some of the headroom is a little restricted. No car parking on site, but available nearby. Breakfast took longer than i thought to get served. Not a major problem but be aware if you're on a tight schedule.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. Staff great and helpful...............mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....mmmmmmmmmmmm..m....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...mm.mm

Pros: Excellent B&B, great location with a very good breakfast each morning
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room and nice dining room. Good and delicious breakfast. I had to check in/ drop off luggage early in the day and the proprietors were extremely helpful with this. Had a terrific stay.
Cons: All was fine. Steep stairs that you maybe need to be aware of if mobility limited or lots of luggage. Room was fairly tight - maybe less furniture would help to give a little room.

Pros: Loved the location; the spacious living room with fireplace and 200+ selection of scotch whiskey; the friendly and helpful staff; the very good food, and options of dining location (lounge vs. dining room).
Cons: The weather (but we can't blame the property). Small, but otherwise comfortable room. The nights we were there, we had to share space with a large group of Swedish knitters, who were very noisy.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Attention to detail, friendly and helpful staff, great food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful and historic hotel in a phenomenal location. Moreover, the management are investing in newly decorated and furnished rooms that are excellent to stay in. The staff are friendly and motivated. The food is not only plentiful but also very high quality. On arriving on a cold autumn day we had a knock on our room door. And unprompted, were supplied with hot tea and homemade cakes. The hotel has magnificent views of the bay and is yards from an otter set. There are spectacular walks very close by. Highly recommended
Cons: The woodwork on the back of the hotel will need the same renovation as the front.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect for hiking and sightseeing. Room was spacious and very comfortable with beautiful view of Loch. Staff was was very friendly, courteous and made us feel at home.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfasts were very good and satisfying. Meals in the restaurant were also very good. Being located at the north end of the island, a car is essential and I managed to explore most of the mainland from this position. It was also a good location for taking the ferries to explore Yell and Unst
Cons: I couldn't find fault with anything and found the owners and staff particularly friendly and helpful.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A lot of character and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The location is a little out of the way but excellent position to travel to Unst and Yell. Though we didn’t plan it, it worked very well for us. I would stay here again!

Pros: Very kind staff, nice location, good view, convenient restaurant and residents' bar, great atmosphere. The small market across the street was also very useful.
6.7 Good
Pros: we were made very welcome. A good comfortable bedroom good evening meal and a superb breakfast.A suprise after initially seeing a rather delapidated building and threadbear carpets. the owners are working hard to renovate and smarten the place up.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Excellent location with very helpful and pleasant staff.
Cons: There is a clear lack of investment in the property.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great food. The lady brought specially-prepared poached haddock and later a plate of kedgerrie. Breakfast was enormous. Dinner had ample delights too. Reception staff looked up maps to help us. Upon arrival a knock on bedroom door produced a complementary tray of coffee and 4 samples of small cakes/dainties to delight us. Superb !

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very attentive and more than accommodating. Could not ask for a better experience!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Idyllic location, great bar and restaurants, sumptuous breakfast and cozy bedroom,
Cons: They over charged me for my stay by £30. When I pointed this out they did refund the money. I hope this was a genuine mistake on their part rather than an attempt to rip me off.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The food, especially breakfast, is excellent at the Scalloway. Having stayed in or eaten in six different hotels in Shetland, over the last few years, Scalloway is a cut above all the rest. The location is good, too, with the sea just across a very quiet road, but it's only a few miles from Lerwick.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous staff and the food was excellent in restaurant, bar & breakfast.
Cons: Bathroom was a little on the damp side.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Had a fantastic stay! The rooms were lovely, the food was amazing and the staff were really friendly and helpful!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything especially hospitality,comfort,ambience,restaurant,breakfast.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Genuine and friendly staff, always ready to stop and chat or give tips about things to do, even when super busy. Lovely older building with character and old-world charm. Not sterile / corporate like the bigger hotels elsewhere in town. Excellent location close to town but down a side road, therefore quiet. Also quieter because tends not to attract families with young children; geared more towards an older crowd. Very comfortable bed, slept well, though creaks a little. Bathrooms recently renovated and modern; bedrooms a little dated and awaiting updates. Tasty and filling breakfast. Good quality comfort food on evening menu. Ample parking space. Reliable wifi.
Cons: Rooms quite hot during hot weather - no aircon. or fans, and windows don't open wide.

Cons: Thought the evening buffet was different however I did enjoy it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellently appointed. Lots of storage space. A lovely view of the estuary. Tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast and evening meals are buffet style with lots of choice and good value.
Cons: Nothing!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were absolutely first class. Always pleasant, communicative but never intrusively so. The quality of the ingredients in the food was very good. My wife liked the buffet style of dining where you could take as little as you wanted.
Cons: I wasn’t as keen on the buffet. I keeping food hot in a Bain Marie spoiled the quality.

Cons: Room was just a little small, otherwise everything was great

Pros: The staff/owners were welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast was excellent and all freshly prepared. Having a bath was a bonus compared to many properties but a little difficult to access if you have joint problems. Overall a good few days
Cons: Not a lot. The bed was much softer than we really like.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great choice of breakfast. Comfortable public space with vast collection of reference books. Owner very knowledgeable and helpful.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Satisfactory but not amazing.
Cons: Nothing special, just pleasant.

Cons: We would have liked a box of tissues in our room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent; friendly and professional. The food was great and although they did not have a full menu on a Sunday evening they were happy to accommodate our request for soup and sandwiches (which were freshly made and excellent). The location was good - about 5 miles out of Lerwick - with easy access to the major roads to other parts of the island. There was plenty of leaflets regarding the local area and the staff were helpful too. A great stay and would go back again.
Cons: Nothing!
Lerwick Hotel - Lerwick - Building

8.1 Excellent (374 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Lerwick Hotel places you in the heart of Lerwick, within a 10-minute walk of Lerwick Town Hall and Fort Charlotte. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was good but the bed to soft hotel in good location
Cons: Staff in reception were good restaurant staff hopeless we ate one night in the restaurant as it had been recommended food was disappointing and we thought expensive for what we got
6.3 Good
Pros: The restaurant staff were very welcoming and seemed to be happy to serve you. The breakfast choices were a bit limited as per cereals etc, the only problems was the need to having to keep asking for coffee refills.
Cons: The hotel is a bit tired and in need of some TLC. The room whilst having a stunning view was dusty. We had to ask for the fan in the bathroom to be cleaned as it was clogged with months of dust ... it took two days to get it done and it did help to make the feel of the accommodation better. Other surfaces in the room were also very dusty and tired, an old apple iPad docking station (original iPad usb connector) added to the dated ambience of the room. The walls show many knocks from luggage etc especially in the corridors. It’s a shame such a facility seems so much in need of TLC in terms of the accommodations.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The only thing going for The Lerwick is possibly the quality of the meals served out of the restaurant. In speaking with other guests and Shetlanders alike, they all agreed that the restaurant was probably one of the best in the area.
Cons: Having traveled extensively across the globe, my experience at The Lerwick is without a doubt the worst I've encountered and in speaking with fellow guests I learned that I was not the sole recipient to this treatment but theirs were similar. The service in so called third world countries trumps what is offered at The Lerwick and the rates are overpriced for what is offered. For starters staff at all levels were extremely rude & un-accommodating and when I approached the manager for assistance to resolve an issue was flat out told NO. Gordon & and a young Hungarian woman at reception were the only employees who were courteous. There was inconsistency with housekeeping- beds partially made, garbage on the floor or bins left un-emptied & staff helping themselves to the snack bar- this is DEFINITELY a first! The amenities are extremely basic and the entire property is in serious need of upgrades. Can't help but think this is why many of the photos posted on reservation websites are of the restaurant. Would definitely look into staying elsewhere for future visits.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are fantastic at the hotel Scott in particular was out of his way to make sure we well catered for and it’s been 35 years since my last visit to Shetland
7.5 Good
Pros: Very central to the town centre. Good cooked breakfast and fast service.
Cons: The bedroom walls were quite thin and noise carried. The bedrooms could do with a bit of refurbishment.
6.7 Good
Pros: Staff very friendly and efficient. Location excellent.
Cons: Room a bit tired. Brick wall view. Windows could not open. Room for improvement.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location. The view. The public areas.
Cons: Room too small. Bathroom tiny for this level of hotel. Housekeeping was unsatisfactory. Not done properly. Had to complain.
