A very nice relaxed hotel with excellent parking facilities.
The food was absolutely excellent. From breakfast to dinner, the food was very well cooked and very well prepared. The catering and waiting staff were all very well mannered especially at dinner. The room was a bit shabby with wallpaper being stuck back on the wall, paint flaking on the ceiling and in the bath! I was a bit disappointed with that but overall I enjoyed my stay.
I have stayed in the hotel before. It is conveniently situated for my needs and I was not disappointed with the standard of service offered. Nothing
I worked at the Crown as a receptionist 28 years ago and met my husband their on a cricket tour and it was good to see it had not changed hardly at all.
decent size lounge for residents ( avoiding the rain Rooms at the front of the hotel adjacent to the road were noisy
the atmosphere , the comfort , the cleanliness, just about everything , oh....and the beer! nothing.
the staff were lovely and the room was beautiful. room 107 needs net curtains as it is overlooked by anyone sitting on the bench outside the church.
The room was very good and clean. The food was good. And the staff friendly and helpful.
Very good location, the staff were very pleasant.
central to New Forest area. constant traffic outside our room
Good value tariff, good food and ales, excellent breakfast. A feeling of quality. Quite noisy from adjacent rooms and kitchens below.
It was only an overnight stay where we used the restaurant, garden and bar facilities only. The staff were friendly and accomodating. We ate in the restaurant, which was quite expensive, and found that the same meals were on the bar menu at much reduced prices. There was no facility to pick individual courses from the menu, for example we both thought that the starter and main meal was enough. I had a charge of £1 put on my bill for some sort of New Forest charity collection. I would have preferred for someone to ask me first rather than just accept that I would pay for it. I didn't disagree with the cause by the way.
The food was excellent
Room, service, food, bar, location None
location and general standard of accommoodation is excellent value for price nothing
Excellent food, great value
Food has become very good indeed. Overall package represented extremely good value, especially since we stayed on a Saturday night. Impressed that we were telephone in advance to warn us of possible disturbance from nearby disco (in the event, this was not a problem at all). Decent sized beds (I am six foot plus)
Clean rooms, good value on last minute booking. Good range of breakfast food. The receptionist on the morning of our departure was unhelpful and a little rude, which unfortunately tainted our image of the hotel Very noisy shower!
Excellent service. We appreciated the breakfast cooked to order and our evening meal was of a very high standard. None
Situation on the edge of Lyndhurst excellent. within 300yds of three excelent restraunts. Within a hundred yds of the actual forest. No.
Temple Lodge is a AA 4 star Guest House run to a very high standard.Nothing was too much for the Proprietors to do to make our stay very pleasurable. I commend this to anyone wanting a base for visting the New Forest
On arriving at Temple Lodge we got a very friendly welcome from Mr.& Mrs. Wrona and help with our luggage. That evening they recomended a place to eat, we took this advice and found it to be very good. The following morning we had a very substantial and appetizing breakfast. We would like to say that we found them very friendly and helpful during our stay.
A great location for walking in the New Forest and within easy walking of good restaurants Breakfast times were limited
we were very pleased with our stay at Temple Lodge. The accommodation was excellent with friendly owners at all times. Very good location for the town of Lyndhurst and countryside.
A great hotel would go back in the future lovely breaksfast a great location for shopping The smoke alarm going off at 3.30 am in the am by a person who was smoking where they shouldnt have been !! hope they got fined
easy to find and to use the restaurant at night offer a poor menu
Location. Central for Southampton and the University area The rooms were cold as background heating kept at 14 degrees celsius when no one in room and took a long time to heat up.
The location was very handy for us.
all of my stay no english breakfast
Everything was OK, friendly staff, i was a bit surpriced, hotel s located near M27 motorway, but room was very quiet.Restaurant was also OK, i missed full english brekafast and more food in menu
Very expensive for an "overnight" hotel
Breakfast : Polite and helpful staff Restaurant in hotel could have been more seperate from lounge area No other restaurant close by
Fresh, clean, nicely decorated and good range of breakfast items. A warm bedroom and very clean bathroom. We were surprise that there was a limited choice of drinks in the room and no biscuits
friendly staff who cared about their guests. Took care of allergy requirements
Relaxing, Central to the town, friendly reception, great service and good breakfast. Dinner was nice but not crazy about the way it was cooked.
Everything was very nice a really nice break away
Staff were friendly at checkin
Friendly staff, good service, excellent food.
The staff. Inparticular Lisa working on her 21st birthday on Sunday night in the bar.
The breakfast was plain and simple although rather sparce but very enjoyable The evening food was to rich with garlics and spices etc., there was not a choice of anything plain or without sauces not even a plain salad and this hotel was booked because it had a restaurant
warm friendly atmosphere
The location of the hotel was idea for access to both walks and the town centre. The Pinewood Suite was great and the staff extremely helpful. Added bonus of being able to take our dog with us.
The staff wanted to ensure that our needs were met and the Suite was excellent will definately return No internet available in suite
the bed was very comfortable
the hotel was inviting comfortable and in pleasant surroundings the staff were helpful and friendly would prefer a radio rather than a tv in the room
Relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, excellent service and cuisine, impressive vegetarian cooking.
The room was a good size, clean and tidy, and the breakfast was outstanding. The waitresses were very friendly.
The room was excellent, and the staff were very attentive. The evening meal was a little restricvtive in that you had to order by 5pm and give a time you wanted to eat. Not very flexible.
good location ,large room ideally placed for New Forest and interestiing range of shops and restaurants in Lynhurst hotel in need of refurbishment and the interior looked somewhat "tired"
Staff were charming and very helpful. Location fantastic and bar extensive Hotel is a bit dated and not worthy of 5 star
the view from our window the breakfast wasnt as good as i expected, no pancakes!
We have now stayed twice at hotel and have found staff helpful and atmosphere very relaxing n/a
Noisy bar area with leaking roof
Excellent breakfast included, nice bar First room had (147) some intermittent mechanical noise but I requested move and they complied
Room was large, well appointed and clean. More than I needed for the night, but recommended to me and with a late arrival I preferred a traditional hotel. No breakfast or coffee.
The high standard of service
Location, leisure facilities Being woken by cleaners moaning about other cleaners not doing there job very loud
The whole experience - staff - accommodation - food N o
No Air Con in room only a broken floor standing fan.
Really good location for West Quay shopping Only grip was that the pillows were really hard and uncomfortable
very pleased with all areas of the hotel ,i have no complaints at all.
Convenient for cruise Paying for car park
Good location nice gym and small pool a good hotel for business or leisure.I was however charged twice on my credit card and this was resolved by the management Food was expensive considering the local restaurants that were available in the area. GBP13.50 for breakfast seems on the high side when the IBIS Hotel was half of that price
ony the above, rudeness of a member of staff
Friendly and helpful staff Soiled clothing items from a previous guest left in the room.
Friendly informative staff, excellent breakfast, unique design of bedroom, bathroom and lighting Bedroom was too warm at night. difficult to open windows and would have been noisy
food in the restraunt was fantastic, staf were very friendly
adam was very helpful breakfast price too high
Good breakfast Uncomfortable beds. No decent tv. Swimming pool out of use. Small rooms.
the rooms were a good size and warm. there were no hand towels or wash cloths in room.
The exercise room is fantastic and so are the people. The breakfast was amazing, clean, and hot. Need to replace the carpeting on floor 4. The bathrooms are new. the furniture in good shape, but the carpeting is horrible.
good accomodation - good breakfast - friendly and helpful staff had to ask for heating to be switched on during a couple of cold days
Very friendly staff ans excellent service.
The English breakfast was a bit greasy...and a bit too early in the morning (till 8H45 only)
The location in the center of the village with a constant traffic jam in front of the hotel.
The room was comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic
Everything, it was clean, staff were friendly, and the room was excellent. As was the breakfast!
location very good - near to main town and restaurants and shops. n/a
Clean well appointed room. Excellent full English breakfast with particularly delicious bacon. Close to the road so a there was always some traffic noise.
Staff very informative , good local knowledge .Very good location
very friendly staff excellent breakast and large room very clean and comfortable
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The noise from traffic during the night
This hotel and the rooms are very nicely decorated. The beds are super comfortable. The bathroom design very well thought out. The staff is professional and very gracious. We were very pleasantly surprised upon checking-in and would not hesitate to return. The only negative would be the lack of air conditioning and our stay was during a "heat wave".
Excellent location for transit to cruise ships, rooms well presented, food of a high standard, staff relations good.
Smart modern rooms - very helpful staff - excellent food in restaurant Nothing - it was spot on
Very nice decor Much to noicy - My room was right above a very busy street
room decorated very nicelly with luxury touches in a very nice refubrished 19 century wearhouse. Very nice coffee maker in the room, comfortable bed and the Italian food at the restaurant was great the hotel is part of a restaurant downstairs and have no proper lobby, looks more like a pub with rooms upstairs. The room was very hot but a very noisy fan provided. People coming from the restaurant stayed talking laudly and smoking under my room window until late hours, not ideal if you have to wake up earlier next day. Wireless internet did not work .
Car parking was poor. Only just enongh spaces
Staff were friendly, good having restaurant underneath the hotel. We arrived late so this worked out very well. Think that breakfast should be included within the rate charged for the room.
close to the red jet and cruise ports and good food T.V did'nt work, very hot in the room, no room service just a few things that if put right would make an excellant hotel
Well appointed room with modern decor. Spacious bathroom with good shower. Liked the finishing touches of bathrobes and slippers. All staff polite and attentive and would definetely stay again at the reduced rate of £100 per night. Had lunch in the restaurant and it was very good. Would recommend. Liked everything! Having Stayed in Southampton hotels before (but not this one) I think other hotelliers could learn from these standards of comfort and cleanliness. Perhaps price could include continental breakfast.
As described- lovely rooms, friendly service, well located. None
Excellent Inn, with superb rooms, and the best pub food we have ever found. Good and helpful staff Bed a little soft.
room, staff food nothing
Good location for new forest area and we found the room excellent. all the staff were very pleasant . Food we found was too heavy with sauces but that was a personal choice. Would definitely use the Inn again when in the area
I most enjoyed the hospitality of the owners. I got a bigger room than that I'd booked. Nice restaurant and also nice breakfast.
Food and menu choice was excellent and staff very attentive and helpfull. Fullers Hotel so beer choice very good. Large room so not crampted.
Friendly and helpful staff. Very pleasant location with excellent pub attached for a quiet drink and also for dinner. Good pub food for the price and good beer. Rooms very comfortable and nicely decorated, also quite spacious. Room temeperature was perfect (although it was possible for guests to adjust it if necessary) - we were there in November. The included breakfast was excellent - a very good choice of traditional cooked food (including vegetarian) as well as pastries, cereals etc. My wife and I definitely plan to return for a longer stay. Very little, if anything, to complain about. The vegetarian dish that my wife ordered for dinner was a bit bland, but there were at least two other vegetarian dishes on the menu which may well have been better.
Food was excellent. Staff were friendly and very efficient. Room was a very high standard and price was reasonable. No bad points
Excellent facilities, staff. Short stay but most enjoyable and will recommend to others
Friendly staff, clean and cosy rooms, good breakfast in lovely restaurant.
Very clean room, prompt and friendly service, close to centre of Lyndhurst, provision of good travel cot for our 10 week old, ground floor room requested and recieved Although the room had been renovated recently, although not uncomfortable I think the beds were a little dated (linnen was fine)
the postion of the hotel to the forest
The location was ideal for forest, shops, local pubs and restaurants. The room was too small and hot.
Good size comfortable room, helpful staff and reasonable facilities Walls between rooms not well soundproofed and noise of tv and snoring was disturbing
Friendly staff, great pool, excellent location and comfortable rooms and surroundings. would recommend to friends and family. The information packs/leaflets regarding near by attractions which are located by the pool could be in the reception area. The breakfast buffet should include the cooked breakfast items as is the norm in most higher rated hotels, to ensure choice and value for money.
Uncomfortable bed......Pillows very hard....Bathroom Toilletries used.....Breakfast warm not hot. Its the 2nd time that we have stayed at this hotel and the first time was much better......What has happened?
Relaxed atmosphere. Positioning of tv in room - kept knocking into the stand which was painful at times
A wonderful hotel, room very comfortable, staff very helpful, food was fantastic a very high standard. Although we didn't use the pool it looked inviting.A perfect location for a holiday break in the New Forest, only 5 minutes walk from Lyndhurst and less to be in the Forest. It's not often you find a hotel that ticks all the boxes, very impressed. We will return.
The room was great The bar closed before eleven even though we were under the impression it would be open for a night cap. We were able to take a drink to the room but was not quite the same
Glasshouse restaurant, pool. Bedroom.bathrooms somewhat tired.
It was extremely handy for accessing our cruise ship at Gate 4 and served our purpose very well. Not quite the traditional hotel we expected but after initial surprise we found it to be comfortable and convenient for our purpose
Excellent decor and facilities ,partculary good bathroom. No
We were really inpressed with our room it was very clean, the bathroom was fantastic loved the shower. The hosts were very nice would go again hoping for a upgrade next time,
Excellent room, very comfortable. Ideal location.
Finding somewhere with a New Year's package was ideal, as 3 course dinner, bar tickets & breakfast were all included in the price
The White Star Tavern is in a great location for using as a base as everything is within walking distance. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast menu with food freshly prepared. Looking forward to staying here again.
This is one of the most unique hotels that I have ever had the experience of visiting. The history of the property is fascinating - originally part of the White Star Line, to whom the Titanic belonged. The staff could not have been any more accommodating! This hotel is a keeper!
Extremely proffesional and friendly staff
Nice Area bed comfortable. Overall good accomadation but a couple of staff were far too busy for the number of people, ie 15 minutes to check out, restaraunt fully booked when we arrived, bar person no idea where we sould park the car which is a major problem as you can only wait for two hours. Very exspensive ie £8 for a 250ml glass of Pinot which I think is ott. £5 for a bacon sarnie. All eating however was of a comparable price so take plent of money.
Nothing Exceptionally noisy. Dirty linen. Had to go and find the receptionist in the bar. I cannot fathom how this place managed to get a 5 star rating. Perhaps I should have been warned by the "tavern" in the name.
Nancy and Peter were very good hosts.... nothing that I didnt like..
The friendly service and comfortable room and its great location.
The couple who run this small b&b are very helpful and welcoming. The room we stayed in, No.3, while on the smallish side for a double room, was spotlessly clean, very well equipped with freeview digital tv, radio, tea/coffee making facilities, en-suite shower room, arm chairs and enough wardrobe/drawer space. Breakfasts were delicious - you can opt to laze in your room and have it delivered - but we preferred to visit the breakfast room and meet other guests. There are only five guest rooms, judging from the numbered tables. You can select from a choice of Full English, Continental, Vegetarian or lighter options, all served quickly and personalised as you wish; plus the unlimited help- yourself options of cereals, fruit juices, yoghurts etc. Nothing bad to say about this delightful small bed & breakfast establishment.
Nice bathroom, very clean room Small breakfast
Friendly atmosphere and staff, very good breakfast, close to shops, town centre & all major travel routes Bedroom was in the eaves & gave restricted headroom
An excellent bb in all respects, I would recommend to anyone where to stay in the New Forest Area
the house was tidy and cosy, excellent location and is very close to restaurants, which was very useful in the end for breakfasts and dinners. Our room was also very clean. The staff was very friendly. Being that friendly they made it up for everything I didnt like. I also forgot my pants there and the staff will mail them to me. My BF and I were given a room under the roof, and the ceiling was so low that I was constantly bumping my head into it. I had to bend all the time walking in the room as I was paranoid I will bump into the ceiling again. Interestingly enough I was looking into the other B&B before that one and they warned me there that the only room left was small with ceiling of just 2 meters high.
Owners were extremely helpful and obliging in every aspect, with pleasant attitude to all their guests. Only critisism being the en suite although very unique was on the small size.
Peter and Nancy were both really nice :-)
Re heated breakfast , Shower very small with no pressure, Dogs in the kichen, Dog mess in the breakfast room.
The food prices were very good - The shower head was broken and wasn't working very well, and wouldn't stay on the holder
The food on the day we arrived was quite good. We were left standing at the bar and was ignored for about 4 mins while the staff were talking amongst themselfs,we was not acknowledged. The windows in our room were either very hard to open or would not open. On the inside of the door in our room there was a fire notice with no instructions on where the fire exits were so if we had to get out in a hurry we would not know where to go. The shower was old and not very clean, and the power lead from the kettle had wires showing from the plug.We did not get a receipt for our booking as we were told that they were having trouble with the computer.
the staff were helpful and pleasant and particularly friendly in a non-intrusive fashion. appeared to be in a less than satisfactory state of repair
Bed was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly but inefficient. Room was unclean. Bathroom was filthy. No toilet roll holder. Curtain was falling down. Needed decorating some time ago!
the size of the room and the restaurant downstairs was great value and welcoming.
Bedroom and shower room were clean and served their purpose, the staff (we only met two)were friendly and helpful We were greeted with the news that they were short staffed mainly in the kitchen area, and this influenced our decision to eat eslewhere. Otherwise I can't think of any bad points.
convenient location the hotel was shabby and needs a lick of paint and new carpets/bathrooms
the food was really very good. we had lunch, dinner and 2 breakfasts - all were well cooked, hot and tasty. nothing really - perhaps the bar area could do with freshening up but there was nothing to dislike about it
For only £50 a night we got a large room in an amazing location, staff were all very friendly. Hotel is worn around the edges - wouldn't have been happy paying much more for the room and would not recommend as a holiday venue only as a stop over.
The room was stocked with hair-dryer, biscuits, towels and toiletries. The staff were also very friendly. Although the rooms were clean and well maintained the corridors were dirty and not well signed (we ended up in a a bin area). Also on two occassions (checking in and at breakfast) we were uable to fin any staff for a couple of minutes.
