Bradenton is a city in Florida which is near Sarasota. It is a coastal city situated on Florida's Gulf Coast and the largest city of the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice, Florida region.
Those who visit Bradenton can arrive by air at the Sarasota/Bradenton International airport. Alternatively, the Tampa International airport is a suitable landing point for Bradenton holidays. The region is five hours behind GMT. Like much of Florida, Bradenton has more of a tropical climate with no snow. As there is more rain during the Bradenton summer than other seasons, late spring or fall are probably better times to visit when there is still plenty of sunshine.
There are some great gardens and parks to check out during Bradenton holidays. Among them the 10-acre Palma Sola Botanical Park which has a collection of palms, fruits and subtropical plants. The park also showcases three lakes and a butterfly garden. The Robinson Preserve is a salt marsh which is spread across 600 acres. It is an ideal destination for watersports such as kayaking and canoeing, and includes hiking paths and picnic spots. The Lake Manatee State Park, along the south shore of Lake Manatee, is another great destination for watersports enthusiasts.
There are also intriguing historic sites and museums in Bradenton. The De Soto National Memorial includes the living history Camp Uzita. It also has small beaches and picnic areas to pass lazy hours in the sun. Another notable park is the Manatee Village Historical Park. This is a venue with lots of historic artefacts and photos of Manatee County. On a trip to the South Florida Museum visitors can explore a large collection of fossils, and a full-scale replica of an original manor house.
