Pros: Decent price and availability when others are sold out.
Cons: Terrible pickup experience. Lengthy, slow lines to both check in, and then again awaiting the car being prepared. Took about 2 hours total. At least they had the car class I reserved in stock--many others in line complained about their reserved minivans or SUVs not being available.

Could not charge the GPS because the cigarette lighter did not work, had to do it in the hotel room, this charge only works for half an hour. Vehicle brakes in poor condition, water tank capless, had a plastic film in the opening. The worst rent I have done. I'm waiting the outcome of the claim.

Pros: Nothing really.
Cons: Service is very slow. Car wasn't too clean and it was in bad shape, the looks and also the transmission was a bit faulty. I don't recommend you go to fox. It might seem cheap but they have many hidden costs.

Excellent cost for a good car
Pros: Quality of car
Cons: Insurance cost was too high.

The worst experience I've ever had with a business
Pros: Nothing. I have nothing good to say.
Cons: First - this business operates with a bait and switch strategy. When I booked this rental online, I was quoted a rate of $50 for the 8 day rental - a rate I found too good to be true but when I read the small print, I saw nothing indicating additional fees would be charged. When I arrived in Cancun to pick up the car, I joined a very long line and waited 90 minutes to talk to the counter agent. As soon as I did, I realized why each renter took 10+ minutes at the counter. I was told that the rate I was quoted did not include a mandatory insurance required in Mexico. And this insurance would change my rate from the $50 quoted to over $400! I (like every other person in that line) was irate. They told me there was another option - to pay a $2500 security deposit which would be returned if and when I brought the car back safe and sound. I told them I preferred that option. Apparently, that wasn't the right answer. The agent I was talking to went to get his manager, who told me that option was no longer available. He then told me I'd have to give a $1000 security policy and pay an extra $20/day for a lower level of insurance coverage. At this point, I understood I was being swindled. I became angry. I asked for them to tell me exactly how much this car rental would cost and what were mandatory coverages I couldn't refuse and what were optional. The agent and his manager became angry at me. A shouting match ensued and eventually I was told they would not rent me a car and I was escorted out of the office and put back on the airport shuttle. Obviously, not a good experience.
My ask to you Kayak is that you cease to do business with Fox Car Rental and all of their subsidiaries. My experience is not unique - it is representative of every person who rents a car from this business. And as long as you continue to list Fox on your search results, you are complicit in this fraud. You have a responsibility to stand behind the vendors booked through your site and I know that hearing this story, you will take action to protect the rights of your customers.
If you'd like more detail I'd be happy to provide it.
Final note to anyone thinking about renting a car from Fox Rental, Ace Rental or any of this company's affiliates - don't do it.

Cons: Is expensive

Overcharged by a $300
Cons: Waited 2 hours!!! in line to get my car,
After all the wait, representative claims price I have from kayak is without liability insurance!! and charged me another $30 per day for liability insurance,
Will never again rent from this corrupt 3rd World rental company.

Cons: We had to wait for the car, for the shuttle to the airport. A lot of hidden fees. The car was mediocre and dirty. I would go with another company.
Cons: Says open 24 hours. Isn't.
Said would deliver car in the morning to our hotel. Didn't.
Refused to help out at all with anything.
Book with anyone else, these guys are terrible.

Good a good deal
Pros: I was able to negotiate the price. As is typical in Mexico, the insurance cost is way more than the car rental, but you never want to rent without insurance in Mexico.
Cons: Long waits at the counter to get the car and to return it. They should get up to speed on automation.
31 Jul 2016
Pros: Did not give us a hard time about insurance which we have had to deal with in the past when using Thrifty and other companies.
Cons: When traveling to Mexico ALL the rental companies allow the dollars to be converted to peso's which would be fine except the the companies use an over inflated rate of exchange which we end up paying more than what we were quoted.

Manager tried to shake me down for $40
Cons: The manager at the Thrifty rental office at the Cancun Airport was a con artist. They tried to shake me down for $40 to buff out a scratch on the bottom of front spoiler that was not even noticeable that I did not do.
I will never rent from Thrifty again,

Pros: Clean Car, Simple Check in
Cons: Not too much personnel, I wait 35 minutes
12 Jul 2016
Pros: Initial car rental was cheap
Cons: Customer service was poor. Car was dirtiest I've ever seen a rental car.
Cons: The 7-seater that we had booked in Cancun was unavailable when we got to the car rental and we were offer instead an...11-seater bus that neither my wife not I could drive confidently given the size. We were told that a Chevy Suburban might be available "in a couple of hours" but the car had not yet been returned by previous client. This failed to instill much confidence and we asked our booking to be cancelled. We hope that ACE will return the c.$800 that we paid for the failed rental as they failed to honor their part of the contract. At this stage, we will not recommend ACE to any one considering that on top of the money already paid we had to add some insurance (despite our credit card insurance blanket) which would have made the cost comparable to what we paid at Hertz.

Cons: Sraff could not accept that i decline insurance (i have CDW with my credit card) on the grounds that my credit card's number does not have bulge and the manual credit card processor cannot capture the numbers. They woukd not take an electronic deposit apparently because customers can cancel it, rendering useless for the car agency.
I had to pay for basic secondary insurance so that i could use my credit card and rent the car.

Upsold us a broken navigation system
Cons: Bad customer service. No refund when complained about the broken navigation system.
Bad customer service. Feel ripped off. Shady company.
Cons: The rental was bait and switch. That never had the car we booked and scammed us for additional insurance that cost more than the rental! We declined and walked away. Had to get a shuttle back to the airport and get a taxi. Lost over 4 hours of precious vacation time.

Dont believe in the prices.
Cons: As most car rentals, you always have the felling that someone is taking advantage of you, trying to smart you out. And this is what happens in this place. The price that it says on Kayak is not real, cause they force you to take a basic insurance that will add at least $150 to your price. This is a kayak problem as well, that should provide the final price overall, or specify which car rental requires an insurance and which doesn't.
Another problem here is that the car that they promise or even similar is not the same. For example, on my reservation I requested a VW Jetta or similar, and when I got there they gave me a Seat (you probably never heard about it) so when complained and said, ok so this is not the same, they said that they don't even have the Jetta that Kayak was showing, and the Jetta that they had was a different category ( more expensive, of course).
Horrible car, horrible experience, a lot because the car rental is sketchy and also because Kayak should provide better information to their costumers.
I would suggest go to one of the rental companies that you know and trust even if you'll have to pay a bit more, at the end it will even out, since this place hide all the other fees.
Car wasn't available and lot wasn't in the termina
Cons: We made reservations early in the morning to pick up the car in the evening. When we arrived, we were told that they didn't know if there was a car available or how much it would cost, regardless of what we had reserved online, because they wouldn't honor any reservations not made at least 48 hours in advance. Furthermore, the person at the counter couldn't tell us there were even any cars available or call the lot to find out. So, the solution we were given was to take the shuttle to the lot to find out if there was a car available and what we would be charged. Fortunately, there were numerous other competitors' counters in the terminal that were able to tell us if they had cars to rent and what they would charge us and we ended up renting from Dollar instead.
26 Jul 2016
Cons: What Kayak and National fail to tell you is that there is a $20/day mandatory insurance charge. That turns the advertised rate from $5/day to $25/day.
Pros: Staff was polite and professional despite our litany of complaints about their company's policies, airport pick up and drop off were smooth, car didn't break.
Cons: We booked on Kayak at a very low rate ($7/day) for a 12 day rental, which I've found is not unusual for car companies with overstock. What was not usual was the in-house insurance rates--$52/day for 90% coverage, which was then discounted to $35/day after we complained. In many years of renting insured cars I've never been charged such a disproportionate rate. Then we were informed the office was closed during our scheduled drop off time (6am), and that we'd have to pay another $30 for the drop off. Then we realized that we were being charged in pesos, with an office exchange rate of 19.5:1, which meant the dollar amounts we discussed would actually be about 6% higher on our credit card statement. The Payless office is 2 km away from the airport, so we felt stuck and went with it, but company policies are clearly designed to draw in customers with low rental prices and then add as much as possible once you're in the office.

Ask about the fine print
Pros: We got suckered by the cheapo prices that then require you to pay insurance, however the Payless folks were accommodating and helpful. We used two different vehicles through them and were pleased with both.
