Top tips for hiring a car from Dollar in Minneapolis

  • It’s important to choose a vehicle that suits the needs of the area you plan to visit when you’re considering renting a vehicle as your means of transportation. For a vibrant metropolitan area like Minneapolis, we recommend opting for a midsize sedan such as the Honda Accord or similar, which will provide a convenient balance of comfort, fuel efficiency, and maneuverability. If visiting in the winter, consider choosing a vehicle that has four-wheel or all-wheel drive for good traction on potentially snowy roadways.
  • Traffic patterns are another consideration to take into account when renting a vehicle, and visitors to Minneapolis should note that this city experiences a mix of them. During rush hours, typically from 7 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 6 pm on weekdays, traffic can be heavy, particularly on major highways like I-94 and I-35W. However, outside of these times, traffic tends to flow relatively smoothly. Avoiding common high commute times when possible will likely ensure that you also avoid congested roadways.
  • Parking is abundant and convenient in Minneapolis, which means you will have no trouble finding places to leave your car for short or long periods of time. On-street metered parking is available throughout the city, with varying rates and time limits, and there are also several parking garages and lots, like the Downtown Auto Lot, that provide both hourly and daily rates. It’s good to note that while many area hotels and accommodations offer their own parking facilities, some may have restrictions or permit requirements. Be vigilant when it comes to monitoring signage to avoid any potential issues.
  • Dollar Car Rentals allows visitors to leave stress at home when they rent through this agency in Minneapolis and through Dollar's many other locations. Dollar does this by providing customers with 24/7 access to their Roadside Assistance Plan, which is there for all the little hiccups that may happen on the road. From tire changes to empty gas tanks, reliable support is only a quick call away.

It was a little confusing getting to the dollar counter and getting the car. The rental car smelled like smoke, and apple CarPlay (Bluetooth) kept on disconnecting multiple times.Reviewed 22 Jul 2024
