Located in Crete, the largest of the Greek islands, Piskopiano is a village with that special Cretian character. With excellent restaurants, a thriving traditional atmosphere and with fine sandy beaches nearby, Piskopiano holidays promise to be a deeply relaxing and unforgettable break in a beautiful Greek destination.
Piskopiano is serviced by Heraklion Airport and it is easy to get from the airport to the village via local bus service or taxi. The village is easy to get around on foot and bus services are available for travelling elsewhere in Crete. Visitors may wish to hire a car whilst staying in Piskopiano, as this is a great way to get around the island. The best time to visit is the glorious summer months. The time zone is GMT+2.
The best way to begin a tour of Piskopiano is to take a stroll through the historic village streets. Piskopiano has a history stretching back to the middle ages and today some fascinating buildings still stand from that period. Look out for Agios Vassilios, a church built in 1840, sitting in front of a much older church. A portion of this older site is still well preserved. When you want to take a dip in the clear blue waters, get down to the beaches at Hersonissos. With great facilities, this area is perfect for relaxing in the sun, or taking part in some watersports. There are other great beaches at Kokkini Hani, Agios Nikolaos and Elounda. Visitors can take a day trip to the neighbouring villages of Ano Hersonissos and Koutouloufari, both traditional towns with panoramic views of the sea. In the evening, choose one of Piskopiano's restaurants located in the streets of the historic village.
