8.0 Excellent
Pros: very lovely break with my partner and very relaxing. Spa facilities were excellent, one of the best we have visited in our opinion. room was spacious and clean as was the bar restaurant. Bar staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly especially the lady which served our drinks (sorry i don't recall your name) but unfortunately the same can't be said for the lady at the spa reception. Bar food was delicious especially the fries. Overall we had a great time and would definitely go back but only if we manage to book a night for a better price as we found a 1 nights stay at the end of January to be rather overpriced. Thanks for accommodating us :)
Cons: Spa reception lady not friendly or informative slightly overpriced for a 1 night stay end of January
1.0 Poor

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning barn conversion hotel , spotlessly clean , and very friendly and helpful staff , could not fault it in anyway There was a wedding ceremony at the hotel on the day we arrived and the restaurant was unfortunately closed but when we explained that we weren’t informed of this prior to coming the manager spoke to the chef and he prepared a menu just for the both of us from the main menu , we had the restaurant to ourselves and the food was out of this world accompanied by a free bottle of wine as an apology for not being advised of the wedding party in advance . They went above and beyond the call of duty for us and I cannot thank them enough
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming staff throughout the hotel, large comfortable room and good choice on the menu in the restaurant in the evening. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: N/A
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff, food, proximity to Bicester village and Oxford
Cons: Pillows! The 2 pillows provided on each bed were much too thick. If the pillows had been more comfortable this place would get 10/10 but they really spoilt our nights sleep I’m sad to say. Hopefully the hotel will take these comments on board and change to thinner pillows or at least one of each type to suit all guests.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice and freshly cooked. Nice big room, comfortable bed. Hotel was centrally located. Helpful staff.
Cons: Traffic noise. Toilet took ages to re-fill and shower had no height adjustment & low flow.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location, hotels restaurant, nice and small hotel with reasonable price if you pay less than 100 gbp.
Cons: We discovered the next morning, after our night's stay, that the pillow from the other side very dirty (from makeup). The wooden floor under the carpet, is very very noisy. So during night this is a problem, if the one goes to the bathroom, the other...wakes up from the noise. No elevator for the first floor is a problem if you have heavy luggages...
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great experience. The location is great for shopping and day trip to Bleinham palace.
Cons: The decoration of the room can be updated a little bit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was really friendly. The glasses for the soft drinks at breakfast were a perfect size! Nothing more annoying than having those small glasses you have to keep refilling after one mouthful!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location good walking and local pub. Great breakfast
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was perfect as we were visiting friends in the area. Grounds are lovely
Cons: Bedroom was functional. Think they should put photographs on the website of the bedrooms rather than just the grounds. It is conference facility with basic room fittings, adequate.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was lovely only issue was that on the second morning coffee was not hot!
Cons: That what was shown as your ensuite when you booked was not what you got when you checked in!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: location Excellent very Scenic... Breakfast was help yourself and the variety of food on offer Brilliant... there was a bar facility and although We were told it might not be available all the time ... We were able to take advantage on this occasion which was a bonus.... Staff we came into contact with such as the night porter and reception girls were very friendly and helpful...
Cons: Nothing...
6.3 Good
Cons: Sunday check-out is 10am (breakfast 8-10) which we found to be too early (check-in is at 3pm so there should be plenty of time to get the rooms prepared). We were 10 minutes late and received a "stern" phone call. The room had cobwebs in all of the corners.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The view
Cons: No air conditioning, no bathroom light. Even after reporting it to a member of staff it wasn't fixed. Grubby carpets.

Pros: Location was ideal and peaceful. Staff were very polite and helpful. Able to park my car in front of my room. Room ticked all of the boxes. If you needed additional tea/coffee items, the staff were very much accommodating.
Cons: The Krupp machine did not provide hot enough coffee. Luckily a kettle was provided to satisfy our hot tea and coffee requirements
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location. Hotel is very nice and right next to Blenheim palace.
Cons: As we was on the ground floor we could hear noise from above room with it being an old building. Floorboards creaking etc
6.7 Good
Pros: I have stayed in this hotel before and love the location/surrounding area. This was the reason we chose to stay again even though we had a wedding at Heythrop Park Resort. Not sure if I would again though
Cons: Hotel staff did not seem interested or helpful. Fire Alarm test on a Monday at 10.30am which is something we were not advised on check in so this woke us up. It went off 3 times and we left our room each time. I mentioned this on check out and the gentleman said we should have read the fire sign. Given a complimentary late check out until 12 which I confirmed with reception on check in then only to get a call in the room to say we should have checked out at 11.30am. Room service no hot food just sandwiches which aren’t the best but pricey. On check out the staff didn’t really acknowledge our issues and when how my stay was I told him the above which he did not like. I prefer to give honest feedback and feel the staff should take this on board.
6.0 Good
Pros: Lovely room. Very comfortable and cosy with a good bed and plenty of hot water. Friendly Head lady on at breakfast. Plenty of gluten free options.

Cons: Nothing at all!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A one night stay but wish I could have stayed longer. Stylish rooms in a lovely country pub in a good location. Cosy, welcoming laid back vibe. Had an excellent lunch in the lovely restaurant. All staff were friendly and efficient.
Cons: Everything was wonderful. However, I was in a ground floor room in the cottage which is located on the roadside. As a solo traveller I would have felt more comfortable being in the main hotel building. I shall be visiting Kidlington again next year and as it is likely I will return to this hotel I shall check the location of the room before booking.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Bar staff and waitresses are superb.

7.8 Good (186 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at The Punch Bowl in Woodstock, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Blenheim Palace and University of Oxford. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.0 Good
Pros: I didn't have breakfast as I was meeting friends elsewhere . Location is great, and it has parking. The room was at the back of the hotel, rather than overlooking the road, so it was quite quiet. It;'s more of a pub with rooms, but suited me fine
6.7 Good
Pros: Five minute walk to Blenheim palace
Cons: We was in room 4 barely slept as we was above a vent of some sort constant humming noise all night. Didn’t have breakfast second morning as I felt unwell, yet they wouldn’t refund us. We ate in the pub and was put off by the noise of a child creating in the bar (belonging to one of the staff members) We stayed at The Star previously so much nicer
6.7 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly. The pub was very pretty
Cons: I wouldn't advise anyone have a meal there. We had a different salad each which both mainly consisted of rocket with little/no dressing and paid over the top for them
7.0 Good
Pros: The breakfast met our needs.
Cons: There was nothing you could do about it but there was a great deal of traffic noise. The room, number 1, needs secondary double glazing and heavy curtains.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was great location good
6.7 Good
Pros: It was in a convenient location in the centre of Woodstock. Staff friendly and helpful.
Cons: The threadbare stained carpets and nowhere to put anything in the shower room, not even a shelf above the sink. The shower took nearly 5 mins to get hot. The rooms really need updating.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were lovely; nice cosy inn, good food, quiet location.
Cons: Mattress felt ok but loud & crunchy when one turns over!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The place where it's situated is in lovely surroundings very nice place.
Cons: We always stay here when we visit Oxford. .slightly dissapointed this time seems to have gone down from when we stayed just before Xmas. .The 1.staff that wad there just said good morning but we're very reluctant to hold a conversation we were the only ones for breakfast very limited choice and much smaller portions than previously... think we were the only ones staying usually very busy but i do think staff need to communicate with customers more ...it's a shame as it's a lovely place...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, friendly, helpful staff, everywhere very clean and excellent location for Blenheim and Oxford. Would certainly recommend.
Cons: Nothing considering what we paid.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We missed breakfast this time, but usually it's very good.
Cons: nothing specific.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was larger than I expected it to be and the beds comfortable. The bathroom had been modernised to a good standard, not easy for an older building. We decided to have a "carpet picnic" in our room for dinner and there was a supermarket located less than 5 minutes walk away. The breakfast included in the room rate was provided in the co-located cafe/restaurant, which was good quality.
Cons: Check in process was not ideal. Although my booking confirmation stated that check in was 2-6pm, the office was unattended when we arrived at a little after 5pm. I had to ring a couple of the different numbers listed on the doorway before getting an answer, from someone located at a different property. When the girl did arrive she was pleasant and the check in went smoothly from there. Just not a great experience when you've been travelling all day and you're feeling tired.

Pros: Bed very comfortable
Cons: Lighting for putting makeup on
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was fab! Very clean, great facilities, stunning breakfast Very pleasant staff

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent quality and value for money
Cons: None
7.0 Good
Pros: Bed was like home
Cons: Our room was smaller so should of cost less. Some residents in late were noisy , chatting and banged doors . Also in the morning people up early didn’t consider guests in rooms asleep !!!!!
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was ideal for us.
Cons: The only downside was when other guests walked along the corridor to their rooms it felt as if they were in the room with you it was that noisy

5.4 Okay
Pros: Nice clean room, good tv. Ample parking. Near main road.
Cons: The way the manager talked to me when I told him I did not like the food. I ordered a hotpot (regular price £12.95). What I got was a tiny bowl of stew with sliced boiled potato on top. On the plate were unappetizing green beans and carrots (boiled from frozen?). When I said that this was not hot pot as the potatoes need to be thinly sliced and cooked with the meat I was told that "this is how we do it". I showed him many photos of hot pots on google but he was having none of it and argued and was nasty. I returned it to the kitchen but he told the lady at the till 'she's paying for it!'. The other lady behind the bar was angry with me too as the 'chef' was her son. Very unprofessional, nasty, aggressive and an altogether horrible experience. I was tempted to call the Police because of the way I was treated (single woman alone). Please note: there was no swearing however I have never had such a bad experience in hospitality.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was quiet, modern and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were helpful.
Cons: Nothing really, it exceeded my expectations.
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast need to available from at least 7 am, I did not have time to have a cooked breakfast because I had to be at work at 8 am.

Cons: nothing to improve on really.

Cons: The room could have been warm on arrival

10.0 Excellent
Pros: we love the place, it's wonderful. the staff are kind, and the chef is awsome.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast and the bar area in general. Helpful and friendly staff, and a very good, attentive, breakfast cook. Nothing was too much trouble for him.
Cons: The floor area around rooms 5,6 and 7 needs some work. Late arrivals making the whole floor creak and the paper thin walls let you listen to the next rooms TV with ease. Beds seem to be made out of pallets.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The rooms are well appointed, there is plenty of parking and the location, on the canal is super. The breakfast was passable although a little pricey at £10.
Cons: The whole place, inside and outside is tired and untidy and above all very cold. On a night off heavy frost, I slept in my clothes. The bar was populated by men effing and jeffing and it wasn't conducive to go down and sit on the sofas, which, by the fire could have been lovely.

Pros: enjoyed dinner and breakfast and friendlyness of the manager and staff - enjoyed the open fire place - hotel was easy to find
Cons: located a little too far out of Woodstock which meant we had to use the car to visit Windsor central as opposed to leaving the car and walking we didn't realise this at the time of booking - also free WIFI only worked in the bar area not in your room - no real problem but just a little inconvenient
