I got a cancellation notice the day before. I called them to see if I could get a different truck, and the call center rep said it was confirmed to pick up and not canceled. When I showed up, they said it was in fact canceled and I couldn’t get the truck. Nearly derailed vacation plans.

I showed up and they told me they didn’t have a car for me and would need to be placed on a waitlist with no guarantee of a car, even though I had a confirmation # from them. They were quite rude about it as well. They had cars on the lot but were only available as upgrades and cost more money. There were numerous others in the same boat. They blamed it on crowdstrike which I understand but the customer service was very poor.

Waited 90 min in line to pick up a car, even though I prepaid. Oil maintenance light came on 400 miles into my trip. I called Payless and I was told to get car serviced and save my receipts. Not and ideal situation during a vacation. We will see if I actually get reimbursed….

Use a different company. My flight from Afghanistan had engine problems and we did emergency landing and forced. To spend night in Bulgaria. I called in as soon as plane landed to cancel or pushback one day but agent said no help. When I finally got to Car Rental in SDF they double charged me and the rates went up to a premium of 85 dollars a day. But thank God we didn’t crash and all of us military got home to the USA safe and next time I just will not book their Kayak

I reserved a car, paid for a ride to the airport to pick up the car, there was no car available, the staff was rude and indifferent, they suggested that I sit in the airport for up to eight hours, waiting for a car to become available, they also couldn’t guarantee that a car would become available, I paid for a ride back to my home from the airport. I spent 60 bucks to get back-and-forth from the airport and I did not get a car. I can’t imagine how this could be worse. And I can’t imagine that Avis cares

No car was available. The desk person said she would have called to tell me, but, according to her, I didn’t enter a phone number on my reservation. She then read my phone number to me off of her piece of paper and didn’t even bother to apologize for the over sight.

Went to rental office and no SUVs were available. We had already waited an hour in line and had to leave the office. Went to the airport and had to pay full price for an suv rental. The car had not been cleaned. It drove well. Staff was nice at the airport Avis facility.

Car had a screw in the tire and could not call directly to any Avis stores to find a replacement. Came in to the Franklin Tn location ant Embassey Suites and was told there was a car coming in and after two days finally left with no car replacement! Customer service was terrible. The maintenance light came on had to find a Avis rental to bring it in. All the cars were filthy dirty. Many smelled like cigarettes. Will not use Avis again.

Terrible vehicle. The exact opposite of the 'economy' class that we reserved. Got 26mpg. We are used to 54mpg. Rolling catastrophe. Dirty inside and out. Smelled bad. Worse design. Should be junked.

Pros:

Agent at desk was friendly

Cons:

I was assigned a car but it was not in it's location. I had to find an employee to find another car for me, which took about 15 minutes. The car I received was dirty and definitely wasn't cleaned beyond pre-covid standards. I'm not a germ freak, but greasy fingerprints on the screen and doors and a greasy feeling steering wheel are just nasty.

The fact that a spouse is not free to drive?! Really in this day and time? Thrifty is on my short list to never use again.
