Excellent - will definitely stay there again in the future.
The room was nice and clean. It was close to Central Park and easy to get to the subway. The staff was very accommodating. The walls were a little thin so you could hear people in the next room or in the hallway.
The location is convenient and access to shops and restaurants in the proximity makes it an easy stay. The staff is friendly and assists in a professional manner when approached. The rooms are OK, but seem to be a little overloaded for a 2 bed configuration, which makes moving around difficult. The bathroom is OK, yet looks a bit sterile with a stainless steel sink. Good for a short stay, a bit uncomfortable for a longer stay.
Valet parking, the friendliness of the staff, having Star Bucks coffee in the lobby - the lounge area in the lobby where 11 of us had take-in dinner - good place for the 3 children to have space to relax. The children thought the glass doors to the bathrooms were funny - they could see the shadows of the person in the bathroom!
The bathroom/shower and large flat screen TV. Internet facilities ample and very useful. Hotel reception area not particularly well lit. Milk not readily available to make a drink in the room despite what appeared to be a top of the range coffee machine.
Location is great. Rooms are clean and big enough. Beds are high and a bit nerve racking with small children.
The staff was very friendly and the location was perfect for us. They were decorating for Christmas when we were checking out, and it looked beautiful. Loved the Starbucks coffee bar in the lobby.
Great room, location and a friendly staff Nothing really
Location is great on upper west side. close to subway. Rooms very attractive and modern. I reserved a limo to Newark Airport when leaving. The Bell Captain arranged the ride. Fare was quaoted at $78 although the far was $62 on arrival. I agreed to pay. On arrival at the airport the driver could not accept credit. I don't think he was from a legitimate company. I refused - he took off - very stage. When arranging through hotels, this should not happen!
comfortable, cosy rooms and friendly staff. Nice neighbourhood with a laid-back feel. The only problem was that the wifi is slow, unreliable and expensive.
Liked the location, next to good restaurants, shopping, coffee shops, Central Park, museums. Subway is a five minute walk, can get downtown in 20 minutes. Digital thermostat was great for temp control in the room. Came with a Keurig and replenished with 3 k-cups every morning. The staff, especially the doormen, were very friendly and helpful. Serafina is connected to the lobby, has a great brunch. Some reviews stated the rooms were loud, we had no problem during our stay, it was quiet. The bed was very comfortable and sheets were soft. The room was on the small side, but expected in NYC and honestly all the room we needed for 2 people. Decor felt a little like a college dorm. The whole back wall with the TV was full of black scuffs and brown globs - looks like it has rarely been washed. Wish it would have came with a refrigerator as we weren't able to keep any cold drinks in the room. They are trying to be minimal with the decor in the bathroom, but only one towel hanger? Come on.
Other than the size of the room which is typical of NYC, overall a nice hotel. We travel to NYC 3-4 times a year. We liked the lobby area of this hotel, friendliness of staff and location on the upper westside. Room cleanliness could have been better and there is a large construction project going on next door so if you are traveling during the work week ask about room location
the families gathering during the breakfast
Proximity to New York park and ride
Large room with 2 double and a sofabed are hard to find without going for a high priced suites. The charge included 4 adults and 2 toodlers at no extra charge. They pushed their $12 per person shuttle instead of helping us with public transit to go to new york city.
Room that was very comfortable for a wheelchair user. Nothing, it was good.
the hotel was excellent. clean, tidy and well equipped. very happy. some of the staff were grumpy and unhelpful.
Room 513 - the first bed (closer to the room door) has bed bugs. My wife got bitten by bed bugs and is now under oral/skin treatment. Whilst the location is perfect for those with a tight budget, if this problems persist, i will encourage one to choose another hotel.
I enjoyed everything, especially the breakfast. The hotel is a non smoking hotel, but our room had a strong smell of smoke and it got into our cloths.
Excellent space and large room. There was a nice breakfast. Location is difficult and neighborhood is ugly but that is New Jersey.
The staff was quite helpful and the breakfast offerings were very good. The air in the room was stale, and I couldn';t sleep through the night because of it.
Excellent hotel, nice and big rooms with everything that you need if you came for shopping or Expo in Meadowlands. Could also serve as an alternative for budget tourist trip for NY. It costs only 2.5 usd to get a bus which is located 10 min nearby and you are in downtown Manhattan in 20-30 min. Located in an industrial zone, warehouses, etc
Nice size room, very comfortable bed, adequate closet space, fabulous shower, ample comfortable soft towels, jingling chandelier lights in the elevators, breakfast room with coffee & croissants Noise neighbors - caused us a loss of a solid night's sleep. Would have preferred a coffee maker in the room.
Location in midtown is excellent The restaurant is not special and there is no dedicated lounge area
the location was perfect for a weekend in New York. The room was spotless. The complimentary breakfast was the icing in the cake. When we arrived, the front desk staff was so busy talking among themselves that they didn't notice us when we walked up, we had to politely interrupt them.
good hotel no
big room a bit corny
We enjoyed our stay the rooms were beautiful and well kept. the staff was exceptional, they paid alot of attention to detail.
Centrally located cozy Hairs in the tub :x
Ambiance of Europe . Clean and tidy . . All the furnitures were in good shape. Air conditioning system is old and noisy
My boyfriend & I arrived separately. So I left a note with front desk reception to ask him to meet me for dinner. When he checked in, it was communicated. We originally had a suite next to the elevators on the 7 floor, but the white decor left me feeling too whitewashed. I requested another suite line on the same floor. Within 10 minutes the change was made and our new suite felt warm and cozy! This is my 2nd stay here & we enjoyed our stay. We'll return here for sure. I didn't like that Wifi isn't included in our room rate. You have to go to the lobby area in order to get it. Let's face it; that's sucky. It should already be included in your room rate. Also I think the continental breakfast should include more options like eggs, along with the pastries. Maybe even dried salami/ select meats.
The concierge The. Breakfast and the fact that the windows were so filthy we couldn't see outside the window
Upon entering the hotel I marveled at the grand chandelier beaming overhead. I felt like I was entering a royal facility! The reception was pleasant and professional, quick to check me in. After unpacking in my room, I asked for a change of room. Due to the surprise of my room facing a wall of another building, scratches on the furniture, low room temp, dark/ not enough light, and low cell phone signal. I called downstairs, and within 5 minutes I was pleasantly upgraded to a 1 Bedroom Suite. Let me say, the Suite life is for me! Yes! My Suite had parque flooring, marble wall and interior. The separate living room had 12 lush red pillows on 2 black striped sofas, complete w mini bar, separate bathroom and a huge mirrored wall. Exquisite! My bedroom was outstanding! 60 inch flat screen TV, golden gilded glass desk, walk in closet and the bathroom had a bidet. Oh what a wonderful experience! I didn't like that Wifi wasn't already included in the room feature; it was an additional charge of $15 p/day! Ridiculous. They have to change that, it's modern to include Wifi in the Hotel room itself.
staff generally very friendly, rooms really great...staff actively upgraded us. quiet, peaceful; bathrooms nice, clean, friendly, bellmen great, helpful, went out of their way, would clearly come again and recommend to others. waitress at bar a little off putting. had some difficulty storing bags at checkout....seems that some people did not want them.
The top, or at least very close to it; you still feel at home, or perhaps even better than at home, with a very friendly and helpful staff.
i visited nyc no everything was perfect
Quiet and luxury. I think is too expensive comparing with Plaza were I was for 3 nights on the same trip.
We were impressed by the friendly staff and the feeling of being made very welcome. All the staff we talked to were so polite and friendly and obviously enjoyed their working environment at the hotel. no, nothing
Amazing park view from the room
the uniformed doormen and elevator operators.
The rooms were beautifully updated and luxurious. The location is perfect. The only thing that we didn't like was the very, very long wait for room service, especially when it was obvious that the hotel had few guests that weekend.
staff and cleanliness the elevator did not work. We went to the service elevator.
the staff was vert friendly and helpful. the room was largge for ny and very comfortable. the diner across fromthe hotel was very ny and had quiet a variety and would deliver. market closs by. everything you neeed for a relaxing ny trip their were problems with elevator but not serious to cause any discomfort
The crisp white linens every day along with big fluffy towels. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Being able to check our bags for a couple of hours on the day of departure prior to leaving for the airport was very appreciated.
The room was very clean, the set up of the room was modern and fresh! would stay again. they are doing renovations on certain floors.
Clean, nicely designed rooms; comfortable and cozy Construction work in rooms opposite - woken up by loud drilling and hammering at 9am for two of my three night stay. I think I should have been alerted to this fact before I registered.
Friendly staff Facility, Elevator was not working. We had to use staff elevator. Construction/renovation on the floor, right in front of my room. Dust and noise.
It was in Manhattan, and had a bit of character- though not original to the time period so that's a bit unfortunate. There's decent coffee for sale in the lobby. Appeared to not overcharge me, and no sign of bed bugs! Room was 13' by 9' -that is being generous with the arms pan - that didn't really matter since we didn't hang out there, but it was laughable. Also had a shirt fall of a hanger just to retrieve it covered in dust bunnies. Key cards stopped working halfway through, not a big issue except it's a stair run up/down as the elevators are a bit wonky. Was hoping for old charm, didn't have much of it. Not really worth spending extra, overall. Seems like over $300 will get something special, otherwise might as well just book a Holiday Inn or something basic.
Flight was delayed a full day, so we headed over to the hotel and was pleasantly surprised at the how much we got for our money's worth! The staff was extremely accommodating as well.
three windows in my room. Three urns of cold drinks in the lobby every afternoon. only one small elevator working for the entire week
Location is perfect, hotel is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Desk staff was consistently rude over 4 days. Not so much to me but anytime I walked through the lobby I overheard snippy sarcastic remarks being made in response to questions.
The room was decorated beautifully with a nice contemporary feel and the bed was comfortable. Mold in the bathtub tile wall. There was quiet a lot of it so doesn't appear they do a good job of cleaning the rooms.
Location Price Cleanliness
Location Too noisy
Very good, central location on 7th Avenue. Just a few blocks from Times Square, Central Park, immediately adjacent to Broadway...can easily walk (or use subway) to anywhere in Midtown. Hotel staff was courteous and helpful. Had a decent breakfast bar in the lobby with very kind, courteous employees staffing it. Was an enjoyable visit every morning, though it's primarily only got muffins, fruit, and coffee. Room was very minimalist and small. Bed was not particularly comfortable. TV only has a few channels and reception was fuzzy on about half of them. Wi-fi is not free - costs roughly $15 per day, less if you buy several days' worth of usage up front. Noise from the street below was pretty noticeable; it would have been very difficult to tune it out completely had I not been using ear plugs. Basically, it's cheaper than the other (nicer, I would assume) hotels in the area, but the location could make it worthwhile if you don't plan to spend a lot of time in your room...and it's NYC, so why would you? Spend a lot of time out in Manhattan, making use of the great location, and you won't mind the facilities as much.
Location Poor a/c - room was very warm. Bathroom was small and bed wasn't that comfortable
Noise from nearby club was very present in the room every night until 2AM
Location 1. No communication by hotel staff. They tried to place us in a room that is half the size of a regular room without even telling us when we checked in. We found about this when we actually entered the room. After that we had to reconcile this very uncomfortable and unexpected experience. 2. Hotel management spent 10 minutes explaining how they cannot keep the fully paid room and that upon check in they will place and assign the room of their availability. Why bother and pay in advance if there is no guarantee? 3. We didn't feel hospitality was there at all. It truly came across as just another place interested in making money rather than building long lasting experience 4. Hotel is definitely run down and it stinks super bad. 5. We would not recommend this hotel and definitely would not have given it 3 stars. Stay some place else!
The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The location was excellent for our needs. The hotel is tired and worn. It needs an injection of cash to update and refresh the rooms and fixtures. It wasn't the worst place to stay because it was clean and the location was great. The front desk was understaffed at both check-in and check-out. This created long lines and long waits. We had to wait an hour for our room to be ready because they were behind on their turn-overs and we arrived at 8PM. They need to hire more staff for peak times.
Perfect location. Great value for money.
Being close to Broadway, Central Park and Rockefeller Center. The staff was very helpful.
Great Location and wonderful people made this place worth being in NYC!!! Nothing...
The location was ideal as it was close to tourist attractions. Lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas and had a very festive luxurious feel. The rooms however were comfortable, standard but clean and gave Bath and Body Works as complimentary toiletries which was a nice touch. Staff were also friendly. Chargable WIFI - We live in a day and age where communication abroad is important to some. Free WIFI should've been included with the room as it wasn't cheap to book here and would be nice if it was complimentary like other hotels in the area. Also we stayed in room 754 where the air con fan wouldn't switch off (in December)!
Place, location, access, and security
Very good location. Breakfast.
Location was great, right off the expressway with a lot of close stores. Asked for a roll away bed, which I was told they offered for $15/ night when I booked. Was given a mattress to lay on the floor, at the full $15/ night. Housekeeping was poor, found quite a few items around the bed on the floor that were not ours.
Frequent buses to Manhattan just in front of the hotel, hotel equipement (iron, Wifi), price. The breakfast could be better. No buses from nyc to hotel after 12:40 am (even earlier on Sundays).
Location in to new york was fantastic, as we had a bus every 10 minutes. We stayed there for 12 days, after a week had to request bed sheets to be changed. Towels were at times stained with dirt marks.
After "researching" so many hotels,We decided to book this hotel .Previous reviews helped us a lot in selecting this motel. We stayed there for 06 days. This is one of the "best hotel" for a budget concious traveller.Excellent in cleanliness..Especially the bathrooms. We enjoyed the stay.Keep it up super 8 !!!!!!! Breakfast serving area is very congested. It will be better,if you can provide more space for the same.
The shuttle service into NYC was easy to use and we enjoyed our trip. Difficult to drive in and out the shuttle didn't drop I you in front where it picked us up but still not far
very hard to find,it is right of the FreeWay,very noisy, bus service going to NY is poor, got to walk.Read the review for this Hotel, it was over rated
Really appreciated that Kayak lets you pay in advance for the room. I was buying it for my son. Good value, decent cont. breakfast, friendly staff, close to shopping & public transportation.
How close we were to NYC, the shuttle van. Value for the money. Bed sheets were dirty.
It's close proximity to New York by public transport breakfast
Complimentary breakfast No airport shuttle
It was a good location. And shuttle arriver every 10-15 min to NYC. Breakfast wasn't any good. Motel's room had a clogged sink.
Location, options in the breakfast, shuttle service to nyc, in room facilities One of the staff member was not professional at all on reception. Others were very gud
Michelle was very helpful by giving us lots of information about NYC, while she was checking us in. She even made us a reservation for a taxi for the next morning. The rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable and we loved the deep bath tub. Also, we ate dinner in the 12th floor restaurant. The food was amazing and our waitress was very nice. Definitely would stay there again.
The customer service No complaints
Simply, nothing. Simply, run run run. The place is not good and it's not value for the money. Nothing around it. Old and staff not nice. If you are going to new York by taxi it will cost you 55 to go and another to come back. Unless you are going to use the exp. Bus which is not near the hotel. You have to go up the hill to catch it. Honestly, crazy person going to new York and stays at this place. The info provided are not true. Roches in the room. Anyone that says it's good is giving the right details. Run forest run.
it was very quit and not far from nyc
It's just outside the Lincoln Tunnel. It's clean, and the breakfast cafe was actually great. It's an older hotel. I suspect it was grand, actually, in the 60's. It's clean and no frills. I was pleasantly surprised by the value. The parking lot felt sketchy, but mostly because there weren't many other cars.
The hotel was very close to nyc and they had great accommodation for transport. It was only 12$ round to the city. Our door to the room would not shut quietly it slammed behind you very hard and loud. I thought that was a big safety hazard.
The beds were a little too firm, like the mattress needed to be changed.
Friendly staff, comfort, proximity to Manhattan
service for New York tour no breakfast, the pressure of toilet flush not good, far from bus station and takes 40 minutes walk to train station
its confusion to categorise the hotel as being in New york city. its situated outside new york staff werent too helpful
Breakfast was avrerage
Nothing The room was dirty, A/C was not working well, terrible cigarette smoke odor in our room. We are all allergic to cigarette so I complain to the manager an she was not friendly at all and didn't care about my complains. I end up switching hotels and I'm very glad that I did. Terrible experience. Avoid this hotel.
Location A little run down, too expensive
Had a nice view of the water The shower didn't work right. No water pressure on warm and the warmer you tried to get it, it would almost shut the water off. Had no wash clothes in the room ether.
The staff in the front was nice and helpful. I liked the remodel and upgrades. My favorite thing was the complimentary travel issues. Sounds funny but I did. I think it needs a plug station in the desk. And the plugs that the guy talks about on the TV about the hotel isn't what he says it is. They didn't have enough plugs and they had one if the plugs. Being used by the light above the heAd board
No I don't like
Convenient location to NY. Friendly staff at desk... Shower worked without much pressure on third floor. Maid took my towels but did not give me more for the next day so I had to go ask at the desk at night.
i liked the fact that they had the extra outlets by the bed that definitely helped i didnt like the water pressure ofcthe shower or the fact that they had no microwaves
The staff was very knowledgeable of the area and helped us to reach different areas we were traveling too
Bed was very comfy. Rooms were clean. Staff was friendly. Conveniently located across from liquor store and places to eat. Great for the price. Would deff book again!
Ms monica at the front desk made our stay twice as good , i would say she was the first friend we made ,and being next to the water is a plus we booked the room with a view Weekends you have to walk about three blocks to catch the bus
Location was Great!!! Walking distance to NYC bus. Great river view! Excellent Staff!!! Can't wait to return!
Front desk staff (Diamond) was very professional. She got us checked in, bus schedules, and local area information. VERY NICE. Room interiors we very well maintained and kept clean. Thanks to the housekeeping staff. Great job. Good location. Exterior maintenance wasn't too good. Walkways were a little dirty, signs falling off walls, looked like it could have used a little TLC. Price was a little high for a budget hotel but the location made up for it.
The updates to the rooms were very nice. Everything was clean and comfortable. Looks like they are trying to clean up their appearance. There were cops patrolling like it was a murder scene. Made me uncomfortable. A cab driver told me that they're trying to cut down on the heavy prostitution that went on before.
Clean room with a comfortable bed. The hotel is very centrally located with many attractions close by. Staff was very efficient and friendly. The walls are paper thin and we had very loud neighbors. We could hear everything going on in the room next door. Unfortunately the neighbors were very inconsiderate and we had to call down to security to ask them to be quiet.
Bathroom look old!
Location, Location For the money we aid, we should have a t lest a coffe maker in room/water
Great location. Close to Times Square, Central Park, and Rockefeller Center. Large rooms for a New York hotel. Very professionally run and business like facility. High energy level with constant activity in the public areas. It isn't cheap but you can easily pay more for less value in NYC.
Very clean, great location! I have stayed here a few times and always have a nice time there. The cleaning staff is so friendly. The food at the hotel is very expensive. I searched all over for an atm machine and couldn't find one. The lines for the elevator can be a bit long
Great location, good room comfort. When you book the price seems to be great, but then you find that the Internet is not included and also the bagage keeping has a cost.
It was in walking distance to all we wanted and needed to see. (5th Ave, Times Square, Broadway, Rock Center....) Nice view from window. Exciting, interesting lobby, and the lounge was wonderful. Room was cozy and restful after busy day. The room decor was very soothing. Waterspots and wallpaper coming off walls on 12th floor. No floor mat in bathrooms. It was total sticker-shock when we got the bill for our breakfast buffet--they should post the price. Not everyone is used to Big City prices. Also, staff didn't smile.
clean and mid town so all the attraction you can cover by walk breakfast was not included while we expected bed and breakfast
It was close to all the places we wanted to see. Walk to Times Square, subway nearby, etc.. Lots of restaurants all around. We had a corner room so view in 2 directions! Nothing
Nice sized room for NY. Updated and modern. Heat was stuck on high and it was super hot. Luckily the windows work and we could get a cold breeze. Pillows were fluffy and flat at the same time.
Location check in staff
as this was christmas the hotel lookes lovely the staff were very helpful and the location was good fot central park area
The Library is a gem.....Outstanding food, service and ambiance
great location very expensive food
It is a small elegant hotel. The rooms were spacious and beautifully appointed. We loved the hotel, but returned to find our room had not been made up all day. They got someone right up to us, but I was surprised by that.
the hotel was very centally located i did not like the way we were receives at the reception desk.the person that receiveved us was very to the point and did very little effort to try to accomidate us.
the location is great- staff helpful
The locationa and staff is great. The Hotel rooms are shabby
The location of the Hotel. Very close to the shopping area and to Central park.
Good location near main atractions Yes, bad attention, lack of amenities.
Friendly staff and traditional hotel
Room very very small for paying that price. My window view was of another building like 3 inches apart. Sink wouldn't drain, remote control wouldn't work. Otherwise, the staff was nice and the bed was comfortable.
Nice lounge. Great location. Easy in / out. Flakey WiFi
The Empire Hotel was much, much nicer than I expected, considering that it is one of the more affordable options in Manhattan. The lobby was very stylish and featured a nice bar where people were meeting for drinks and snacks etc. The room was very small, but that is typical in big cities, and it was really nicely done, with a lovely bed, lots of towels and toiletries, etc. It felt very comfortable. The location is amazing: Lincoln Center is literally across the street, the subway is half a block away, and you can easily walk to dozens of attractions and the park. This will be my go to hotel from now on in NYC. The movies were a bit expensive to rent ($19!) but the internet was strong and cheap, so it didn't matter. I could hear the folks in the next room, but they were having an argument (whoops) and otherwise I couldn't hear anyone. NYC is noisy, so there's always going to be some noise. I really don't even consider these complaints, to be honest.
The rooftop deck had great views and location was good They charge you for everything and it's super overpriced. The pool was a disappointment it's as big as a pickup truck
The value of the rates given the the area is great and it is centrally located in mid-town. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was noisy in the morning but quiet most of the other times.
Location Too old and the room was too small worthless
I didn't sleep well- the bed was as hard as a rock. Good location
Our stall shower was missing the sliding door. The bathroom got soaked during every shower
The room and lobby were beautifully decorated and the hotel was in a great location right in the middle of manhattan. The staff was very professional and extremely helpful. The room was agonizingly small for the amount of money we paid for it. When we checked in the lady behind the desk said she was "upgrading" us, and we barely had enough room to walk around the bed. I shudder to think of how small our room was before the "upgrade".
The Empire charges mini bar rates for Keurig coffee in room. The bathroom was very, very small which made it difficult to use comfortably, and we are very small people.
Great value for location in central NYC. No complaints
Small rooms, great location. Good staff. Nice lobby
Absolutely nothing! We were the last guests to check in for the evening. They gave us room 207 and it was filthy. There were huge sticky stains on the carpet and on the furniture. There were chunks of things stuck on the carpet. And the air was stunk of stale smoke. I asked for a different room but they were full. We left and went to a residence inn. I had purchased through Kayak/Priceline and priceline refunded my money. It was the nastiest room I have ever seen. Our friends were also I the hotel in the 9th floor and they said their room was fine. The hotel staff didn't seem to care one bit about the state of room 207. The only thing they offered was to have housekeeping come and spray something so it smelled better.
Price, accommodation and general comfort were above expectations. Bus connection to central Manhattan was good. Continental breakfast was crowded on weekends and generally poor quality.
This is the first La Quinta that had HOT food for breakfast and it was welcome since they were NOT anywhere near a location to eat away from the venue - the food was well prepared and the staff was very friendly and cordial THis venue does not have any places within a close walking distance where guests can get breakfast or snacks or even a fast food something. I highly recommend that somewhere on the hotel info on your site that the 2 places that ARE near are listed and that it be recommened that they get a rental car.
Nothing was done when I complained about smell of marijuana. No respect for a family environment. Least I expected was a comp for horrible experience, but nothing was said besides I will look into it by the manager. Shuttle service to MetLife stadium is one way no pickup after 5 pm. If your looking for a place to do drugs this is the place to go!!
Good location for city trip, just 20-25 min by bus. Very comfortable beds. Too slow staff, too small room for breakfast.
I stayed with a girlfriend for her 40th and the staff were very hospitable, going over and beyond what what necessary to help us enjoy our stay. They gave us great help with knowing where to go and find things and even stayed after their shift to make sure we were ok! The French Toast for breakfast one day tasted like cardboard! Breakfast did leave a lot to be desired with the "hot" options maybe luke warm and a slim selection of breads etc.
It was very well located and safe. The staff made mistakes and the house cleaning forgot to clean our room one day.
ease of traveling to the city no blankets for pull-out couch even though requested (not sheets)
Location - so easy and fast to get to Manhattan. Better than staying in NYC. Staff very helpful. Free shuttle to local outlets/shops. Tax free shopping on clothes in NJ. Shower drain didn't work, breakfast was awful, hotel quite worn and shabby. WIFI did not work at all.
Transport from Air port, if possible
Clean hotel. Wonderful view of Manhattan. Excellent bus service to NY across the road.
Very easy to go to nyc, only 20-30 min by bus! Close to shopping malls Room cleanliness was not the best I've seen...
To explain the room that was provided to me. - Broken door - Smelly - Single bedroom with two beds in it. - The Restroom was shared among five different rooms. - No Toiletries - Open window in Restroom. - Broken Shower knob
The hotel is very old, not clean and you don´t feel very safe in it
I loved the fact the subway was so close. We also enjoyed the proximity to the Hudson River. The surrounding area was very beautiful. And they had great food around the area. Bathrooms just didn't feel clean. The floorboards crack and creak when you walk down the halls. Very slow and inconvenient elevator. Some staff members weren't the friendliest. The bed sheets were stained and looked horrible the first day we got there. Not enough towels and they only have a few at the front desk before they run out.
Large room, one ekstra bed, great value for money. Old and shabby.
The hotel is well communicated with the center of the city and the hotel staff were very kind The hotel is very old and we could not sleep because of the loud noise from the heating boiler
We did not even stay. We left the next minute. It's the worst place to stay. The room starts and ends right there and the floors are like some ancient building floors. The pics deceive you! I ended up wasting 90$ for namesake crap!
Good location, it is very near to subway or entral park. But the room is very, very, very small, far smaller than what you can image. If you go with your friends or family, it is not a approprate place.
Nothing really.. The hotel was older .. the first room was a big as a closest with a bed .. then the second room when I complained I gota two bed .. which had no closet space .. I hated the shared restroom and the elevator only fit two ppl with two small bags and was broken a few times so we would walk down and up .. staff was friendly and maids we nice and gave us clean towels .. just didn't like how the restroom was down the hall and everyone on the same floor used it.. subway was a block down and if I take train 3 it's only 2 stops from time square .. ooo other guest in the room across from us were smoking weed . And stink up all the hallways and hated it the smell..
The Hotel had a very good price, normal conditions and was very well placed. We had to pay a few dollars to locke our luggage the day we checked out. That should be for free.
Location is perfect, very close to eating places, food store and most importantly Subway line 1, so that in 15 minutes you are at 5th avenue, Times square and most important places in Manhatten. My bed was not comfortable at all, sort of skewed. Also, there was a window that faced the wall of adjacent building. So, there was no comfort being in teh room at all. But for just having some safe place to spend overnight with separate bathroom, this is okey.
It was clean, affordable and in easy to access from the subway. It was a safe place to stay. Our room was quite large for the city. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Place is in terrible shape, really disgusting
Had a show on Harbour Blvd, and it was 4miles from the hotel. Lots of fast food choices within a minute from the hotel. I will stay again next year, but won't bother with breakfast. Breakfast not so good. Towels a bit rough, and worn.
We haven't got a lot to say... We had to change our room 2 times in 5 nights: The first was dirty and smelly, and we found mice in the second. In the third room the air conditioning didn't work very well
dirty place, I was assigned a room with a heavy cigarette smell and the staff was rude
The free breakfast was very good. The water pipes were very loud during the night, making it hard to sleep. The only ice machine was in the lobby, which is at the bottom of the hill.
Price Outdoor entrances Breakfast skimpy. But adequate.
This hotel was disgusting-It has changed my opinion of Howard Johnson and I will probably never stay at one again. It smelled, had bugs, carpet was filthy. The overall experience at that hotel was unbearable and I tried to find another one so we could move but everything was booked. I think Howard Johnson should refund my money and that way I would consider staying at one of their hotels in another city but never that one again. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to voice my dissatifaction.
the shuttle into new york hotel room was dirty and noisy
i lived in this hotle 14 days my my telephone was not work i reported them untilt i my 2 weeks in there they not fit it they
staff were nice, breakfast was good, very quite i thought it was a bit way out to visit ny if you did not have own transport, but the shuttle bus was ok ,but a bit expensive on a budget
My trip was during the weekend before Labor-Day (6th September), so you can't get any really cheap hotel in New York City. There was no free room in Manhattan either (in that price-category). So I decided to take a room at the Howard Johnson, because it was very cheap compared to the room-rates somwhere else in the area around nyc. The staff was friendly and I had no problems to talk to them (I'm German). The transportation to Manhattan: I took the bus all the time, it's about 10 minutes up to the hill and costs 2,50 $. It's not a problem for younger people, but for older people I would recommend the bus direct from the hotel (about 6$). But come back before 1 am, because there's no bus after that time coming back to the area near the hotel You must not be squeamish, because there was a long black hair in my shower- towel. But otherwise there was not much to complain, I had no bedbugs!
it was a simple and safe place to sleep. the regular bus to NYC is much cheaper, than the shuttle. there is no shuttle to newark airport.
nothing yes both disabled had to climb hill to room, it was like climbing mount igor
