Because we were staying 2 nights, we did not have our room cleaned, so I did not get a coffee package for the next morning. When I went to the desk to ask for one I was told I was not allowed one. Also they did not have tea bags.
The facilities are nice and clean but what really stands out is the amazing staff. Each employee there was very friendly and helpful, with a big smile! They speak English and tolerated my attempts at Spanish. I complimented the manager on his skill. It seems odd that there are few window screens, there in a tropical rainforest, but I guess that is a country-wide norm, and it was really not a problem.

nothing total scumbags paid for a deluxe room and I check in to a terrible room mind you hotel is empty went to front desk and asked to see a regular room and guess what regular and deluxe are the exact rooms saw the gringo and tried to get over demanded a refund or the right room was given a refund and was treated like I did something wrong total rip off
Staff was very helpful, polite. Good food. Room was clean. The room i had #14 was too dark, no windows, very dreary, could not sleep well, very noisy. I could hear everyone walking up and down the stairs.
The guest policy and the location. Mini bar was empty when I arrived and I had to argue to make sure I was not then charged for it all. Room was WAY too hot and the windows don't stay open. Very, very noisy.
Staff, specifically Angelica who was incredibly helpful and showed enormous customer service by not cracking while dealing with an angry self-entitled guest who yelled at her about things far beyond her control. Also, the decor was really gorgeous No hot water after dark and not until 4:30am, low water pressure, wifi slow and only in the lobby, windows were not 'soundproof', fan was stuck on high, almost no TP in the room (cold shower at 4am was not fun,) bed hard, no remote. Was not as advertised.
Hmmm--I liked the main entrance, but there's wasn't much going on in that space. At least it looks presentable. 1. Room was not well ventilated. Also, the covers on the sheets were dirty, with stains visible. 2. Room: The lighting in the room was horrible. It felt like I was in a morgue. Brighten it up.3. Room: they never cleaned my room.4. Took 4ever 4 svcs
Its price There is no way it is 3-stars. It is two stars and that is a very fair assessment. The breakfast is cold, the beds have springs on the surface, the towels are old, stringy, and have stains. The shower curtain and attachments were poor, the staff okay.
The room was clean and reception area was well organized. There was one doorman who was very kind to us. I think the main thing about this hotel is probably the location. But don't let that fool you. It's maybe a 7 minutes walk to Avenina Central, which is where everything is in San Jose. We took a taxi, $6, to downtown San Jose on the first night.
Well run, very clean convenient and friendly place to stay in the center of old city. Owner, Thomas, is very friendly, accommodating and helpful. Rooms are spacious with modern conveniences. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great breakfast is included in AM. Prefer for breakfast start at 6 vs 7am. Most of our tours started around 6.30 and we missed breakfast. Would prefer a larger size pool.

I fish in costa rica every year. I always stay here when I arrive / leave. folks are very helpful / friendly. close to things I value. on your own, taxis can be a problem - they take care of that too. I don't use the packages they have for "things to do," but I'm certain that they are excellent value for money. highly recommended!

Friendly helpful staff in front, especially David. Convenient location in San Jose. Good breakfast from a choice of three. Comfortable room for the price. The owner Tomas was very nice and helpful. Our safe in our room was problematic as it didn't always function. However, on a positive note they did fix it. Computer was older and rather slow though the latter may be more of an issue with the server in the area.
Small rooms with no windows. Very little lighting, and a lot of the bulbs were burnt out. Water in the bathroom ran constantly. Uncomfortable beds with terrible pillows. I travel to San Jose frequently, and I will never stay in that hotel again.
These people told me that they never got the payment or reservation from kayak.com. They treated me like i hadnt paid for the room. Thw next day when i was about to check out they locked me in. They wouldnt unlock the doors. It was a horrible experience.
