This 16th-century Cotswolds inn offers award-winning cuisine, free Wi-Fi and free parking in Swinbrook, just 5 minutes’ drive from the medieval market town of Burford. Nestled on the bank of the Windrush River, the building oozes character, with log fires, flagstone floors, and traditional oak-framed ceilings. Rooms at Swan Inn are situated in either the charming building itself, or in its converted stone barn. Every room has a flat-screen TV with Sky channels, tea and coffee making facilities, and an en suite bathroom. Some even boast a Victorian roll-top bath. The Swan's pub and restaurant have won numerous awards, including 2 AA Rosettes and the Good Pub Guide’s "Oxfordshire Country Dining Pub of the Year". British dishes with a modern twist are served using fresh, seasonal produce sourced from the surrounding area. Local ales and beers are stocked from the Cotswold Brewing Company. Although set in a tranquil location, the inn is just a 3-minute drive from the A40 and 7 minutes' drive from Burford. Oxford is 35 minutes’ drive away and Blenheim Palace, where Winston Churchill was born, is a 30-minute journey by car.

Pros: Location, Location, Location!
Staff were excellent, approachable & informative. Took care of all our needs. The owner took time to seek out our opinion.
Bathroom, whilst a little on the small side, was quite adequate with the shower the highlight - very comfortable.
Bed very comfortable and duvet was great to snuggle under.
Peaceful, quiet and lovely location at a very affordable price.
Compared to other similar accommodation, the Star Inn is close to the very top, would recommend it for anyone wishing to stay in a rural and beautiful location.
Cons: Lack of storage space for two people, e.g. a chest of drawers or similar would have eased this, hanging space adequate.
Not an undue issue though, wish the towel heater was switched on from the start, though once it was realized we were from a much warmer climate the offer was made immediately and apologies given.

Pros: The room, the quiet, the comfortable bed, the excellent breakfast (even though I only ate it once), the accommodating staff (thank you for my early morning latte on the patio).
Cons: Turning off the patio lights around 11 p.m. (midnight?)..... I couldn't have my late night read outside.... a small thing, but important for me. It would have been good to have a facecloth included with the room's linens.

Pros: Good Value
Cons: Bed not very comfortable - was two singles, not one double.
Pros: location is close to our children
Cons: The owner apparently made a decision to close the restaurant part of the place without notice. So, no dinner and drinks then a pleasant short walk up to the room as we planned.
No employee at all in the entire place after 6 pm. Skeleton keys only to open the room doors, even from the inside and a key given to every guest that opens the whole building at the front door.
The first room we were given did not have a working toilet. The owner then gave us a room he said he had rented to someone else.
The second room given had mouldy/dirty grout in the bathroom and we had a dripping shower head. NO HOT WATER for a shower on a December morning was the last straw.
Had planned 6 nights there and spent just 1. Never again.

Pros: The lovely village location and splendid grounds, the roaring fires and tasteful country house feel.
Cons: The restaurant was a little disorganised. Four people took our orders and served us and the co-ordination was lacking and the service was therefore slow. Why not allocate given tables to specific waiting staff?
Pros: The hotel grounds and local area
Cons: The fact they have a two tier system where guests staying at the Old Swan get dining reservation preferences and their own roped off lounge area that the Minster guests cannot use
Pros: Character hotel.
Cons: Standard room very small, we stayed in the barn conversion annexe, room was very small with single glazed window which was very noisy. It felt as if we were staying in a beach hut. There was a noise in the pipes which kept us awake most of the night. Also we had to travel to a nearby pub as the restaurant(which is another pub a minute) away was full, priority to guests with bb and e meal.
Pros: We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The first room was extremely hot, we spoke to reception who offered us another room without hesitation. The restaurant is excellent both for breakfast & dinner. After eating there the first night we definitely wanted to on our second night but forgot to book. So after a day out and about came back to hear it was fully booked being Saturday. However the staff were brilliant and said they would manage to squeeze us in and we weren't disappointed, the steak was perfect along with everything else! Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely grounds and setting. Will definitely go back.
Pros: I liked the helpful staff in the restaurant who worked extremely hard on the sturday evening of our stay.
Cons: I stayed in room 121 which was awful and i have complained personally to Diane Cornish the sales manager and i have yet to have the courtesy of a reply to my comments.
Pros: Setting and location excellent. Public rooms nice
Cons: Scandinavian type rooms (118) were very very small. Little wardrobe and storage space. Walls were paper thin. We could hear neighbours even when they were whispering and using bathroom! Flight path from nearby RAF base. No double galzing. It was clear the accommodation was geared to single people on conferences/workshops. Massive disappointmant!
Pros: Lovely setting, staff very friendly. Lovely meal.
Cons: There were no biscuits on the hospitality tray.
Pros: Location Staff and service
Pros: The reception and cleaning staff were extremely friendly and welcoming The setting is delightful and the food in the restaurant was very good.
Cons: Our bath room was very cold - no apparent heating and interesting though the high ceilings are, there was a draught. This did not spoil our stay but if the weather had been colder it might have done.
