Cons: If i'm going to be picky, the downlights in the bathroom were thick with several millimetres of dust and need cleaning. We also ate the first night at the hotel's Quarre restaurant, our main course got mixed up and we were short-changed when paying the bill, both errors were corrected immediately and the staff were very apologetic so we put it down to genuine mistakes.

Pros: This hotel is in a prime position, being situated right beside a main train station - Berlin Friedrichstraße station - and is within walking distance to all main attractions. I specifically chose this hotel due its proximity to the train station as I had an extremely early morning flight and literally wanted to step out of the station to the hotel - and this is exactly what this hotel provided. It also provided easy access to and from the airport via The Airport Express (RE 7 / RB 14). All of the main attractions are about a 10-15 walk away from the hotel meaning that although there was a U-Bahn stop right outside the hotel, I didn't need to use it. The hotel is situated on Friedrichstraße - one of the main streets running through the city, with all attractions either on or off this street. I have read previous reviews complaining about the noise of the trains and how they should have been informed of this - I just cannot understand this type of review - why choose a hotel beside a station if you think you would be bothered by train noise? It is your choice to choose a central hotel in a capital city beside a station and it is unfair to criticise the hotel for train noise. The breakfast was excellent serving both hot and cold offerings. It is a buffet style breakfast and has bacon, sausages, eggs (made to order also), beans etc as well as yoghurts, cold cuts, cheeses, fruit, selection of breads - you can also make your own pancakes and waffles. Fabulous breakfast and this was included in our room rate. Within the room, there was electric kettle and coffee maker with complimentary sachets of tea/coffee pods, sugar, milk etc. Toiletries were provided in the bathroom with a proper hairdryer, and rain shower. There was also a flat screen TV in the room. There was also a flat screen TV in the room. Two issues I had were rectified immediately and the staff were very pleasant, efficient, professional and spoke perfect English.

Pros: It has a fantastic location, Friedrichstrasse Station for both S lines (for Berlin) and regional trains (RE1 for Potsdam - S7 didn't go that far during our stay as there were some line works) as well as Underground station and Tram (for north east and east Berlin), all opposite the hotel. Bus stop for western Berlin sites (100 and 300) are only two blocks away. Easy walk to the Museum Isle, Brandenburg Gate, Gendarmenmarkt. The room is well sound proofed so quiet in spite of the busy location with air con. Nice spacious walk in shower. They have a very good buffet breakfast in a bright airy restaurant, with a good range (and sparkling wine!), we were particularly impressed with the quality of the food. We had a good value business set lunch on our day of arrival at the bar (€8 for bread, salad, main course and espresso). The Wellness area has two saunas, reclining area and changing rooms open between 4pm and 10pm. Lots of cafes and eating places nearby. You can rent a bike from the hotel although we didn't try it.

Cons: The only slight complaint I would have - and I can't fault the hotel for this at all - was that the guests either in the room above us or to the side of us had extremely heavy footsteps or seemed to be jumping around and during the night as we were trying to sleep, all we heard was thud, thud, thud. This irritated me far more than the trains and it wouldn't hurt if other guests showed some consideration. If I'm being extremely picky, the toilet bowl could have been slightly cleaner and there were some scuffs to the paint as well what looked like possibly makeup marks on the wall of the bathroom near the sink - but all this comes with daily wear and tear and that really is me nitpicking.

Cons: I came late at night around midnight, hotel has two entrances and I did not know that, and one was locked, I was ringing, and no answer, until finally some girl went out from outside so I have entered. But basically hotel is really good. Professional stuff, clean, good location. Price is high, but all was OK.

Cons: When we booked we requested single beds as we were a party on mother daughter and two sons. When we arrived there we were in double beds which was disappointing. The beds were large and comfortable however so it was ok. The staff were really friendly. The breakfast was a bit disappointing. I expected a big variety it was at best a 4 star standard. That was the main reason I booked it so my sons could get a good start to the day. I would not go back there for that though. The hotel restaurant was very expensive and as we didn’t arrive til 9 pm we had to go out and look for a restaurant. There were very few restaurants in the area and all were closed so we had to eat in McDonald’s which was very disappointing. However in general the location was really good. Cons: Attention to details is a bit lacking for a structure at this level. The restaurant is clearly understaffed for breakbeat. Had to ask to get tables clean since there was no place to seat. No lactose or gluten free milk or yogurt available, the coffee machine was out of service both days (had to ask the waiter). Whole wheat bread run out but wasn’t replaced. Had a coffee machine in the room but they didn’t bother to take out the dirty coffee cups even if they clearly entered the room to empty the trash bins. They just left the dirty cups there. Had to clean myself in the bathroom. Was charged two different amounts in the bar for the orange juice even if it was always the same size.

Cons: Our 5th floor had an unpleasant sewage smell the 2 nights we stayed. It would at certain times dissipate, then get more intense in the evenings. The hallway and our bathroom were awful during those times.

Cons: The only thing we didn't like was a small sound coming from the fan of the HVAC unit. Even when we lowered the speed for the fan on the thermostat, we could still hear an annoying sound emerging from the fan. Still it didn't bother us much to get a good night sleep

Pros: Location was great, almost next to BBG. We had an awkward suite, A giant almost empty room, only a twin bed for my daughter, no other furniture, attached was the master bedroom for me and my wife, this also had the bathroom, but this room had NO windows! A bit of a strange room.

Pros: 1. Easy and quick check-in. The staff is friendly and helpful. 2. Comfort! Beds are REALLY comfortable. And the AC is so quiet, we didn't even realize it was on. 3. Location is perfect. The street is pretty quiet, while there is an U station right across the road, S-Bahn stations in 5-10 minutes of walk, and Alexanderplatz with all of its nice places and sightseeing in a walking distance. 4. Breakfasts are tasty and diverse. It is possible to eat different during a whole week, I guess.

Cons: Bell boy?! never can see any one to help you about any things. the entrance doors didnt work and we pushed the by hands full of baggages for opening . in the reception there was two ladies and they were talking together and problem such as this , was not important for them . very rude staffs. they dont like to help the guests , i think they are here by force! the hotel is very close to train station and the noise of train disturbed us specially in start and stop the train . If you want any thing from reception and room service, you should request at least 3 times to done. however they didnot done somethings and I toke back my request! the breakfast was normal but it was within the limits of 4* not 5*.

Cons: The staff were so indifferent to the point of being rude. Examples: 1. I complained of a dirty armchair and matching footstool. There was a disgusting stain on the chair especially. (I have pictures of it, but they suggest things too gross for family viewing). It was never cleaned during a stay of 5 days! 2. Upon arrival I informed them that I needed an iron as there was none in the room. I had to argue for some time to get them to agree to deliver one "sometime in the morning". 3. I went to use the gym, using the door that the woman at the desk told me, only to be followed by an indignant staff, speaking harshly to me in a mix of German and English, telling me that I could not use that door, only the other elevator meant for the pool. When I informed him, having to insist before he would quiet down and listen to me, that I only followed instructions of the staff, he didn´t even apologise. 4. NO toiletries at all in bathroom, except one type of gel on the wall. 5. NO coffee machine or tea kettle in the room. 6. Terrible cafe in the breakfast-undrinkable. 7. Dirty and stained seats in breakfast room--again, on being informed by staff I was met by total indifference. 8. In the "spa" area, the Pool filled with many large groups of small children, who didn´t even have a changing room, but were herded into the hallway, where their clothes were left on the floor, and they changed, with no privacy. 9. Racist treatment of African woman and her children at front desk, where all could view it, and no apologies even given when the woman complained (in a perfect English I might add). 10. Cleaning staff always left windows open, and upon returning to room at night after longs days of work, room filled with flies. They should let guest decide or not to open windows.

Our surprise was amazing 3 story book and record shop that is just across from hotel and open till midnight.

Cons: Bathrooms weren't the cleanest, but ok - Cleaner blasted music through the corridors as she cleaned, which wasn't the best accompaniment to my afternoon nap. Cons: The bathrooms, despite being cleaned everyday, where routinely disgusting by the time I mainly used them in the evening. I think this likely has to do with the fact that I was in a 32-person dorm, so obviously this is going to be a difficult point. Additionally, the beds were rather uncomfortable, and every time you slightly adjusted yourself on them, the springs underneath would wail like a banshee, making it difficult to sleep in a room already filled with other people.

Cons: The staff didn't seem to like helping us to find our way round or give us advice on what to see. The air con in the room was pretty bad, a bit noisy but also very weak. Given that we had to keep the windows closed for the noise outside this was not very good. The mattresses are quite bad. The cleaning was not good either (small things, like very dusty side bed lamps). Also, I noted (for me this was quite bad too), they put 2 teabags (I mean n.2, one breakfast tea bag, one green tea). When I used them, they were just not replaced. I found this quite stingy!!

Cons: The soap dispenser hadn't been refilled throughout the time I stayed at the hostel, despite us having asked the cleaning staff to change it a couple of times. There was a significant amount of hair and dust collecting on the floor and under the beds that hadn't been swept up. The hostel didn't have a communal kitchen, plates, cutlery or hot water that visitors could use, with in my opinion is the most basic of amenities. No outside food allowed in the cafe downstairs, which is unfair considering how it is practically the only place a person can take their books/laptop to get work done.
