Pros: If you read all the reviews about this hotel on the Internet, your expectations will be pretty high. Yet even so, they will probably be exceeded by the experience. We were accommodated way ahead of our check in time, greeted by name upon arrival and quickly ushered up to our room where fresh apples were waiting for us. Within a minute of arriving we were served tea to go with the apples. An amazing way to be welcomed. The room featured all sorts of unexpected surprises, like a fax/copy machine, an integrated TV above the bath, top of range coffee machine, full set of stationery, two sets of gowns.. coasters that pull out of of the couch, proximity sensitive touchscreens through the room... not enough time to explore all. The heated indoor pool, we must have missed this in the marketing materials: they play beautiful tunes under water! You hear nothing above the water, you have to submerge - and the party starts. You are greeted on arrival, fresh water is brought to you (after your pool slippers of course). We attended the Afternoon Tea. There are plenty of reviews online. They’re all true. Fresh ingredients, delicious preparation, attentive staff, live chamber music, tea served in silverware... long queues of awaiting patrons (booking way in advance is highly recommended). A truly memorable experience.

Pros: Impeccable service, fantastic restaurants and the Christmas decoration is simple, elegant and magical. Enjoyed the live performances with choirs, musicians and the solo singers. Finally, having a photo with the big friendly teddy with my family. It was a wonderful experience. The hotel even made it more special by giving us a complimentary upgrade. It will definitely give us wonderful memories of this beautiful hotel and the people who worked there a big thank you for their service.

Cons: The gym was under renovation but instead we were allow to use the health spa sauna which was amazing! Would like to try out the health Spa but I thought it was out of our price range, maybe, next time the health spa will introduce a taster session for the new guests. The health spa worker was very helpful and made me feel at ease and comfortable. Thank you again. Would like some complimentary health classes and cooking lessons included in the stay.

Cons: Staff were generally very helpful, but when we returned to collect our baggage which we had left with them on our last day after checkout their attitude had clearly changed and they gave the impression of wanting to get rid of us as quickly as possible. This is a stupid and short-sighted attitude since guests are left with this as their last impression of the hotel. They need to be told that one remains a valued guest even after the money has changed hands for ones room! This will affect my likelihood of staying in a Shangri-La hotel again - at the high room rates one expects top class service, and I have never been treated like this at top Marriotts or Peninsula group hotels. Overall, however, the stay was good.

Pros: I loved the service and the staff. This was one of the friendliest, most patient crew I've ever had the pleasure of encountering. Nothing was too small or insignificant for them to help me with. I felt welcomed from the moment I stepped foot on site. Even the two ladies I bumped into cleaning my room were lovely. My room was also very clean. I had a note, fruits, chocolate and two energy bars upon arrival.

Cons: Staff were rude. They couldn't find my reservation. Waited 45 minutes for them to sort out the problem (their reservation system did not like I booked the hotel 3 hours before I arrived). They could have at least offered a drink or snack or something instead of making me stand around waiting for them to sort out the problem.

Cons: Ok, there's a bunch of places where this Grand Hyatt has failed my expectations as my first stay in Hyatt hotel chains was such a bummer. We arrived very late at night, around 1 am, and I was very very exhausted. The toothbrush head was too hard; there was no mouthwash, while Conrad, of the same level, always provides the guests with mouthwash; there was no comb. There's a construction site right below the hotel building, which caused so much noise and woke me up at 7 in the morning- while I was planning to have a quiet and comfortable overnight stay. The noise simply ruined my morning. Moreover, the breakfast service was SO bad. We came in to the dining hall and asked if we could sit over the window that was closer to the outdoor scene, one of the waitresses said no because it was full in that area, but from a clear sight we saw there were at least two empty tables. Alright, we took the table near the exit. We ordered some food but waited for over 30min to be served. What's worse? The waiter even served the wrong food after such a long wait. (We ordered dumplings but was served with wonton soup, and double-confirmed with the waiter if the dish was dumplings, and he said yes it was dumplings, but it was actually wonton)
