free Internet, pleasant lounge on first floor with rest room Spanish Steps a bad location except for luxury shopping--not near historic attractions or affordable shopping
Location and hotel staff. Everything was great.
We were upgraded to a better room, no reason as to why, presumably our original booking they could not fulfil. The upgraded room was lovely though. The barman on the roof top bar was useless. They were supposed to be open until midnight but quite often he shut up at 11.30 and didn't like it if anyone asked for another drink.
The hotel is well situated for seeing the sites of Rome and with most circular hop on/off bus routes passing close by, the opportunity of easily going further than neighbouring attractions such as the Spanish Steps and Trevi. The staff were friendly and helpful and arranged alternative taxi to airport when Margana Travel (booked through Viajes Almeda) didn't turn up. The room, at the rear of the hotel, was comfortable and picked up no street noise. With temperatures about 30C, the airconditioning was very welcome. The cold buffet breakfast was the same every day but was enjoyable and more than adequate to set you up until you got to your next pit stop. The coffee was exceptionally good. The roof terrace bar was good for a relaxing drink. Not a major problem but the shower regulator was a little awkward and had obviously undergone maintenance recently. Bathroom was small but not the smallest we've had in Italy.
Beautiful old building at a great location small shower with a shower curtain that would constantly stick on you. Wifi turned out to work only in the small lobby and was very shaky. First got a small noisy room although I asked for a quiet one; luckily could change it.
its location at the centre of Rome is perfect both for sightseeing and for shopping.
Balcony with drinks & snacks at the top was great Sewer gas smell in bathroom- please check the traps/ sewer ventilation!
The location and their food(breakfast). Also their staff are wonderful and friendly. the beautifl ladies at the breakfast room are wonderful. they are always smiling, helpful, and service delicious home made sweets non loved the stay and the hotel
Perfect location for visiting and shopping Bathroom smell and noise from the street
fantastic location, ambience and service
we stayed in the navona sutie and it was terrific. we celebrated my wife's birthday and they supplied us with cake, champagne, fruits and gifts. the shower was not great and could use instructions as it had many features.
Very nice hotel that managed to avoid the many modernisation gags that have destroyed the atmosphere in so many formerly great hotels - without feeling dusty, at all. Yes, the corridors and the lift could do with a new coat of paint, but who cares. My room was spacious and lovely, with a private terrace overlooking the rooftops; perfect for having breakfast while catching the first rays of the sun. It's a small hotel. Take the Danieli in the sixties, cut it up and let a small piece of it overgrow with vines in the middle of Rome: voilà, the Raphael. Staff exceptionally nice and well-trained. Location unbeatable.
All staff were very kind The gym was not confortable, very cool and not any matress at the floor for exercices, not sauna ??
evry thing is excellent staff is excellent the hotel is away from metro you should use taxi but no broblem as the hotel is central the taxi will not cost a lot no room service after 11 pm
Proximity to the sights
Luxurious; great location and views from roof terrace Reception staff OK but not overly helpful, waiters / waitresses very helpful; expected food, drink etc. to be expensive but was actually exhorbitant
The staff were very efficient and pleasant. Very good location for siteseeing and shopping in the heart of Rome. Very good restaurant with quick efficient service.
Excellent central location just off Piazza Navona. Nice rooms, well decorated. Staff friendly. Bedroom was too hot at night - air conditioning had been turned off.
the view. excelent deco. no ice machine
i like Mr.Luca very helpful person the terrasa was closed ..if i need ice for example i have to pay service 5 euros
The rooms, designs and the hotel staff. no nothing
Location Did not have Room booked had to pay 200 euros per nite extra for a room available. no heat, room cold .Bkft 1st day bad, got sick spent day in bed diarrhea. Great hotel at one time in need of repairs and renovation. No 5 Star. Restaurant filthy ,shower broke, electrical wires in open in room. Lived and visited Europe every year since 1961. Been to Rome 20 times worst experience.Have pic tires to compare to hotels website, big difference.Front desk not friendly or helpful
Location, The luxury of the 19th century and a kind of new roman decadence... It's a political matter.....but nice ! rooms , poor of confort, decoration, bathroom, all thonks that imbeliveble for a 5star hotel..!!!! even a international plug for eletrical shave in te bathroom....
Absolutely NOTHING to like or enjoy here at all. This is by far the worst hotel I've stayed in more than 25 cities in my latest trip to Italy. When you consider this is somehow rated a 5 star star hotel (???) it is the worst value for money in the history of hotels. It is literally a 2 star hotel and a bad one - it's a hell hole and a huge tourist trap. They gave me a room with no AC and no hot water! I repeat, NO HOT WATER. On top of it all, even if I had gotten a proper room with hot water, hotel is old anyways and facilities extremely old and dirty, filthy rooms. Wifi does not work nor does 4g/3g signal. Internet access is only possible outside of the hotel. Breakfast is one of the worst I've seen in Italy (or anywhere). They did not deliver what a two star hotel would have. That's all late in the evening after a tiring trip for me and my girlfriend. After hours of discussion and no solution offered whatsoever, I was finally able to talk to the hotel manager. The manager is this French guy who barely speaks some broken English and couldn't care less. All he could say is that things didn't go as planned with maintenance and that it wasn't his fault. Out of the few things he mumbled, he may have offered a drink at the bar or something along those lines, to make up for NO HOT WATER, NO AC, NO WIFI, dirty room, lousy breakfast, and the worst service I've ever seen in a hotel or hostel or any type of housing establishment in the world. The discussion went on for 3 days and no solution was offered at all. This is by far the worst experience I've had in Italy and the worst I've ever had in any hotel anywhere (I've traveled 50+ countries). The cherry on top was the itchy feeling in the end of my stay due to what could have been bed bugs. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. Avoid yourself A LOT of stress and a living nightmare and stay as far away from this place as possible.
The staff was friendly and helpfull. The central location is superior. The old world charm and beauty of the public areas, marble, frescoes and stained glass harks back to what the lap of luxury was like at the turn of the century when this hotel was no doubt reserved for the top upper class of society. Because the hotel is over 100 years old she shows her age and has not been kept up to the standards of a Five Star Hotel. She is a bit run down and in the rooms it appears that the money needed to maintain the standerd to which it claims is lacking. The glamour of what may once have been the best hotel in Rome has long since past. She is a grand old lady who is in need of some tender loving care.
The amazing 19th century builting. It's a trip in the past. Amazing. Service.
Location was unbeatable. Staff was not very helpful. Room was comfortable but nothing fancy by any means. The pillows were hard as a rock and no Wi-Fi that I could access..
The hotel is very beautiful. looks like one of the attractions in rome. The room (regular) was very big, alot of space. The location of the hotel is perfect The breakfast was OK, not worth 25 Euro tho. The table by the bed had stuff glued on it and the lamp swich was sticky, but except of it the room's cleaning was fine.
Location Service and attitude. No internet working - wifi or hotel computers out of order
The hotel was what I expected, and suited all my requirements The terrace restaurant and bar on the roof of the hotel is a huge disappointmnet. As a woman travelling alone I was made to feel distinctly unwelcome. Moreover, the food was not what one would expect at the price.
Location Small room.
- The location. - The services. Nothing
The location was why we chose this hotel. We were a twenty minute hoof to St. Peter's one way, and five minutes to the Coliseum the other way. It was a great home base from which to explore the eternal city. We were also surprised when they upgraded our room at check in. Room size was outstanding for an older hotel. We've stayed in many dozens of old hotels throughout Europe, so we are not surprised when some parts of the experience are a little ragged. It had been unusually warm. I figured the building's environmental systems had been switched over to heat for the winter, so our room was uncomfortably warm. After a shower, the tub took a long time to drain fully. The minibar was restocked before our second night. Even though we took nothing from it, we were charged for items used by previous guests. Lastly, we did not get turn-down service on our last night. But these kinds of missed details are typical for Europe, and did not bother us.
The roof restaraunt and bar were great. The room was small and the bed matress was very hard and uncomfortable. The rooms were too modern--when you go to Europe you want to stay where the rooms are old fashion and full of past times.
location, view, comfort, services speed of in room house keyboard internet very slow
location, staff they cleaned our room just when we put "please make up our room" note; no russian TV channesl
location Altough it has been mainteined good, the building is very old.
Excellent location - so close to thre Pantheon and walking distance from main sights.
Location, Roof Terrace Room was poor, not refurbished, Bidet did not work (water pressure low), dark, looking to the inner side. We booked a room directly at Hotel Minerva in December 2009 and got a much better, larger room for the same price. Obviously booking.com is getting the low-cost left-overs.
Service was superb. Classic elegance and at the same time, very convenient. Access from the main Piazza and to the marina.
Location Un renovated rooms, wifi doesn't work well and they make you pay for it, we had to change rooms. This hotel needs to be renovated. This is really not a small leading hotel or a 5 stars hotel as marketed
All ok excpt the air condition. Air condition was bad not cooling enough.
The location is great. The room was comfortable enough. The hotel lounge was cozy. No wireless connection, despite the hotel staff is persuaded there is one. Ethernet connection + movies overpriced. Multimedia defficiency for a 5 star hotel.
The location is excellent for a good short holiday in Rome. Central. We did not like the first room were put in: room 379: tacky and filthy carpet and aged cranky bathroom.
location II was upgraded from Junior Suit to a Executive suit which had a nice bedroom and a larger then a corridor made up to a living room. You had to watch the TV from a distance of perhaps 2 meters. There was another room with a table in the middle with 4 chairs nothing else which was useless.very small lifts.
Location, friendliness of staff, The rooms at the 5Th floor were unproper of a 5 star hotel, the price is over to high
Location was excellent. On a quiet road so not noisy. Staff were not very friendly. Restaurant suggestions were not great and no irons to borrow which surprised us for a 5 star.
Convenient possition. Room in need of decoration for standard of hotel.
the location is perfect to see all the sights. it's very central to the Spanish steps and with in walking distance to the rest of the city it wasn't as upscale as we thought it was going to be, and for the price breakfast should have been included
Although we did not use the staff very often when we did they appeared helpful and attentive. none
Modern, very high standards of service, excellent location but crazy expensive at €290 per night and a mind blowing €50 for room service of tea and croissants in bed! The prices
Great location. Gtreat A/C Small rooms. Minimum spa. No pool. Limited parking.
Good location, modern and clean. Good rooftop bar and nice to have a spa although we didn't use it Room was small however apparently this is normal for Rome
Located in a very interesting area.staff very helpful and professional.room very well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was too predictable
From rooftop terrace to being able to step onto Via Giulia and walk to everything, this hotel is a fabulous mix of location and comfort. The subterranean spa, which is complimentary for guests, is okay but a little more rustic than we were imagining.
The staff could not have been more helpful. Everything we asked for was delivered with speed and a friendly, helpful attitude It would have been nice to have had a few more English channels on the TV without having to pay extra for them
Perfect location. Room was very comfortable, clean, modern, overall extremely pleased with my choice. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooftop bar and restaurant was a fabulous way to end the day and see sunsets. Will definitely stay at this property next time in Rome.
location almost perfect, friendliness of the staff, food is excellent, excellent renovated hotel. we will be back in rome just to stay in the hotel!! the only remark was some traffic in the street in the front of the hotwel, when the city was waking up.
It 'location Hugely over priced.
Great staff, clean rooms Would love a bigger room
The service is top notch. Everyone is so friendly. They are always checking in to see how everything is going. Breakfast is really good too. The room could be a little bigger and so can the bathroom.
Staff was extremely helpful in our one fast day in Rome. The location is walking distance to most of the attractions we wanted to see. Breakfast was quite nice. Food staff was excellent also. Nothing.
Very good location
The location was great. The staff was very nice and helpfull. The room was big and comftable. Breakfast was nice. We got the WiFi connection for free. The blankets were dirty. There is no heat until November.
Staff pleasant and helpful. The hotel is quite central in main attractions although the road is very busy
Very central placed
Centrally located across street from Trambus double decker sightseeing bus stop and steps away from Piazza Navona. They had many choices of food at generous Continental Breakfast. Quiet hotel, nice double shower. The Cable nor the TV worked, everything else was nice.
The staff were always helpful and so very nice to the children. no
The hotel is very central. 300m to Phanteon, 250m to P.Navona. We had a Quadruple room, which was about 30m2! Very nice staff! Sorry, but this is not a 4 star hotel. The beds was so hard that the last night (out of 4) I almost could not sleep at all. The cleanliness could have been better. Dust in the closets, ++ and the shower was not very clean ether. The toilet was noisy and leaking (they tried to fix it), the safety box was not in order (they tried to fix it twice). In our room the windows was not possible to close properly, and there was no view (2/3 floor). Some traffic noise. Breakfast was very simple, but good. The man in the reception (at night) did not speak english (the others was very helpful at all time).
Staff were very friendly and effective in helping avoid tourist traps. Most were very friendly.
The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, our room (409) was well decorated and spotless and had a charming balcony overlooking the rooftops of Rome. The hotel is very conveniently located for all places of interest which are within walking distance ranging from 10 to 20 mins. There is a restaurant within 5 mins walking distance which is extremely good value and has excellent menu and service. Our double bed was actually two beds pushed together. The breakfast was very basic continental.
Very good location, but facilities are a bit old. The toilet did not flush.
Excellent location in quiet knook but only 2 blocks to Campo Di Fiori and all the action. We requested and received a room overlooking the beautiful gardens of the French Embassy. Hotel is in very quiet area adjacent to Piazza Farnese and is within easy walking distance of all the major areas - Campo, Pizza Navonna, Pantheon, Trevi, etc. Loads of resturants, cafe's, shops, bars in the vicinity. Very clean room much larger than most European hotels typically are. Very nice size bath and shower. Very comfortable room and in a great location. The hotel staff replied to e-mail requests prior to our trip for room confirmation and arrangements for transportation from airport literally within the hour our requests were sent. Nothing we did not like.
Location great, very central. Room decor very dated, musty smell in room (couldn't open windows). Tv took about 5 seconds to change channel - not great when you are flicking looking for english language!
A well priced hotel in a great central location. I took my parents who have mobility problems and the area is flat and easy to walk around.
excellent location, good staff, good breakfast small rooms
Everything was fantastic! The room was exceptionally (and promptly) cleaned each day; the breakfast buffet was outstanding; the desk personnel were friendly and extremely helpful; and, the hotel environment was extremely pleasant! I have no complaints whatsoever, and when in Rome, I will stay there again, and will recommend my friends do as well. I did notice several us people on the website complain generally about small hotel rooms in Rome. I suspect these folks do not get around Europe much! Real estate is incredibly pricy and space does not come cheap! Us travelers need to be prepared to spend $130 usd or more a night for a room that will be much smaller than the typical us economy hotel room. that is the norm in rome! Stop complaining! Focus on the beauty of the setting and hotel, the convenience of location, and the experience of being in a world class city!
Great location, lovely & helpful staff, comfortable rooms, nice communal areas, wonderful breakfast. The bed was a little hard for my taste.
The room was very comfortable. The location was in a nice quiet location yet close to many of the city attractions, and the breakfast was superb. A real little gem.
Good atmosphere, nice staff, comfortable and interesting location away from the city centre business district. The hotel only provides a buffet breakfast. The bar is not open. There are plenty of excellent bars and a full range of resturants nearby.
Just off central, but able to woalk everywhere No
loation, breakfast The bed in the room (509) was very hard to get in and out of and there was no comfortable place to sit.
Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice. Freshly squeezed orange juice, even sparkling wine. Our room was unfinished with electrical wires hanging unconnected. Ceiling was missing under air conditioning unit. Cover plates on electrical switches missing. Only one bedside cupboard and no drawers at all.
the breakfast is amazing for italy....they even had eggs, fresh squeezed orange juice... it was cold and the heater didn't work.
Its locations, as hotel is close to most places to visit in Rome General cleaning of rooms and F&B outlets lacks in care of details and it is a big let down......as it could elavate the status of property.
The breakfast terrace was amazing, the breakfasts were tasty too and we liked the italian chef! The rooms were spotlessly clean. When leaving the hotel we burst the tyre of our car. The man at reception was really really helpful and kind to us. It would have been nice to have some tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Also would have been good to have a bar on the top floor to take advantage of the views over the city in the evening.
Staff was polite. This hotel has been rated 4 stars which is completely undeserved. The rooms are tiny and the beds were a couch converted into a bed. There was no air-conditioning and we were told that was because it was winter and they only had heating then. The WiFi provided was slow and intermittent. There was an elevator which never worked and was always occupied. The location wasn't great. It's not walking distance to any of the sights.
design, comfort, location room is small
Staff, breakfast, location nothing
excellent breakfasts, omelets, fresh squeezed orange juice and cappuccinos to order and extensive selection, nice rooftop terrace. Room was huge we were upgraded but room itself needs a reno, dated and design standard lacking. The lobby is chic and free use hallway internet a bonus. The safe had a key which we needed to leave at front desk this was unacceptable. Need to upgrade safes to standard number coded style in all other hotels to ensure security. I prefer loations with more historical content but it was not really far to the major sites just more modern and commercial an area.
The hotel staff. The Terrace, breakfast views. Great location. Great stay.
