Pros: The location was terrific. It is right across from Golden Gate park. Being able to explore this interesting area was fun. We are long time visitors to SF. This is the first time we stayed in this part. The hotel was classic SF. ... Old, small and full of charm. The staff was more than helpful and new SF well. Breakfast was abundant and included. The cheese and wine hour was also a plus. Parking across the street was reasonable and easy .

Pros: The breakfast was delicious - especially the bacon. Also the pastries. Was a bonus to have wine and cheese in the evening included. The decor and ambience was lovely.

Pros: The best location for a San Francisco stay. Close to great public transport options, Muni light rail and buses close. Quite neighbourhood right on Golden Gate Park, but great food, bars one block away on Haight. Also great options close by in Cole Valley, and Inner Sunset. The Staff are amazing.

Pros: The location of this hotel is excellent, right on the park and in a great neighbourhood for restaurants. There’s a Whole Foods in walking distance and loved the managers aperitif time during the week. This hotel has a wonderful old world feel whilst the upkeep was impeccable. The bedroom and large bathroom were pristine! Finally we get to the staff, from front desk to the hardworking breakfast workers and cleaning team, they gave the best customer service we could ask for. We recommend this place to anyone visiting San Francisco!

Pros: The location could not have been more convenient. Right at the entrance to Golden Gate Park, and the shopping on Haight was easy walking distance. There is a Whole Foods a block away. The property is interesting and beautiful; we liked the vintage charm. Plenty of choices for breakfast (pastries, cereals, hard cooked eggs, sausage and bacon, fruit, etc.) The check-in and out was easy. We would definitely stay here again.

Pros: The breakfast was great, and that was important for me because I was travelling with my family. The staff were lovely through the whole of our stay. They even packed three very decent breakfasts for us to take to the airport, taking into account that we had a very early flight. Every thing at the premises worked well, and everything was so clean. Water pressure and temperature were perfect. The toiletries were big enough, the beds were comfortable, and I did not need to take a taxi, since public transportation covers well the area. San Francisco IS expensive, nothing to do about it, but I do not regret the price I paid to stay at Stanyan Park Hotel. I would surely stay there again, and I highly recommend it.

Cons: The hotel rooms could definitely use a facelift. Our room was large with normal amenities. I would like to see room safes, new mattresses, better bathroom lighting.

Cons: My room was a bit noisy as it backed onto housing and a bar. But it wasn’t overly bad. Was never noisy at night. Would probably ask for a different room next time though.

Cons: Nothing the hotel could have changed... Stanyan is a busy street, so there is some traffic noise. We knew that this is a historical landmark hotel, so expected that there would be some modern amenities (ie, soundproof walls!) missing. The hotel was very clean, in well-maintained condition despite the age of the building.

Cons: There were no slippers. It seems to be a rule at SF hotels. It is very uncomfortable to have to move around the room (especially the bathroom, and specially at shower time) wearing socks. Much more with your shoes on.
