FAQs for booking flights from London to Bangkok

  • Which airport in London is the easiest to access?

As the only airport within the city limits of London, London City Airport will be the easiest to access from the city centre. City buses and the Docklands Light Railway connect the rest of the city and the London Underground to the airport. Heathrow Airport comes next, due to its direct connection with the London Underground, as well as the Heathrow Express train, which can reach the airport from Paddington Station in 15min. However, if you’re travelling from south London, Gatwick might be a good option, as it is 25 miles south of the city centre (there is also the 30min Gatwick Express train from Victoria Station). Transport options to Stansted are limited unless you are travelling from the north, and the Stansted Express to Liverpool Street Station takes around 45min.

  • Are there on-site hotels at Suvarnabhumi Airport?

If you’re feeling the jet lag, Suvarnabhumi Airport, fortunately, has three hotels within the airport. Miracle Transit Hotel is within the secure area and features a beauty salon, sauna, and spa. Boxtel has soundproofed rooms with air conditioning, a full bed, and a pillow, as well as a work desk. Avangard Capsule Hotel has queen-sized sleep capsules with charging sockets, reading lights, and a locker.

  • What are my options for transport from Suvarnabhumi Airport?

The airport is served by city buses as well as regional buses, with connections to Pattaya, Sa Kaeo, Nong Khai, Sriracha, Rangsit, and Phra Ram. Air-conditioned Limo Buses travelling non-regular routes are also available. The Airport Rail Link train service departs from Basement B of Terminal 1 during the hours of 06:00 to 00:00, travelling to Phaya Thai Station with six stops along the way. Car hire services are available 24h, from the second floor of Terminal 1.

  • What family services are available at the airports?

All London airports have baby changing facilities. Heathrow, Gatwick, London City Airport, and Suvarnabhumi Airport have several children’s play areas. Gatwick also has strollers available for toddlers.

  • What visa do I need to travel to Bangkok?

If you’re a UK citizen, you can enter Thailand for 30 days without a visa. For stays beyond this, you will need to apply for a valid visa. This must be obtained prior to travel. Your passport must also be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter the country.

  • What hotels are there on site at London’s airports?

You can stay at a hotel if you have an early flight, so you’re not rushed for your departure. For example, Holiday Inn Express can be found at London City Airport (LCY), Courtyard by Marriott is at Luton Airport (LTN) and Aerotel is at Heathrow Airport.

  • How can I reduce my carbon emissions by taking a specific flight?

If you want to lower your impact on the environment, you can opt for a flight that releases fewer carbon emissions. For example, KLM completes this route releasing about 60% less CO2 than some other airlines. So, rather than roughly 2,362 kg of CO2 per passenger being emitted, it releases around 943 kg.

  • Which airlines provide internet on flights from London to Bangkok?

If you need to stay connected on your flight, you can use the KAYAK search filter to find airlines that provide internet. For example, KLM offers Wi-Fi to its passengers so that you can stay online from take-off to touchdown.

  • What is the cheapest flight from London to Bangkok?

In the last 3 days, the lowest price for a flight from London to Bangkok was £298 for a one-way ticket and £468 for a return.

  • Which airports will I be using when flying from London to Bangkok?

On your way to Bangkok, you’ll fly out from one of these London airports: London City, London Gatwick, or London Heathrow. You’ll be landing in one of Bangkok’s 2 airports: Bangkok Suvarnabhumi or Bangkok Don Mueang Intl.

  • Which aircraft models fly most regularly from London to Bangkok?

We unfortunately don’t have that data for this specific route.

  • Which airline alliances offer flights from London to Bangkok?

SkyTeam, oneworld, and Star Alliance are the airline alliances operating flights between London and Bangkok, with SkyTeam being the most commonly used for this route.

  • What is the most popular stopover when flying to Bangkok from London?

Abu Dhabi is the most popular stopover city among KAYAK users travelling from London to Bangkok.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from London to Bangkok?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from London to Bangkok.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from London to Bangkok?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to Bangkok from London is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from London to Bangkok?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional return ticket. You could then fly to Bangkok with an airline and back to London with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from London to Bangkok?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Bangkok from London up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

KAYAK’s top tips for finding a cheap flight from London to Bangkok

  • London has a whopping six airports, but Heathrow Airport (LHR), Gatwick Airport (LGW), London City Airport (LCY), and London Stansted Airport (STN) are the ones with flights to Bangkok.
  • As Heathrow is the busiest and biggest airport in the UK, make sure to arrive with time to spare – the airport’s size and traffic levels mean longer queues as well as more walking. Fast-track security access can be pre-booked at least 24h before your flight, for around £12.50.
  • Fancy a bit of reading? Newspapers and magazines can be picked up for free from the Green Bug Media stands at Gatwick.
  • Bangkok has two international airports, but flights from London now land in the newer Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Suvarnabhumi Airport serves Bangkok and Samut Prakan and is the main hub for Thai Airways.
  • If you’re in need of Thai baht after landing, Kasikornbank, Siam Commercial Bank, and TMB Bank in the airport offer foreign currency exchange as well as international money transfers.
  • If you would like your journey to be as quick as possible, you can find direct flights from Heathrow to Suvarnabhumi Airport with EVA Air or Thai Airways.
  • London’s airports are very modern and offer great accessibility features for passengers with disabilities. From wheelchair-friendly toilets to hidden disability assistance, your journey through the terminal will be seamless. You should request assistance from your airline in advance and a member of staff will meet you when you get to the terminal.
  • You can travel to London’s airports from a range of cities, making them convenient departure points. You can drive to Heathrow Airport (LHR) from Swindon in around 1 hour. Gatwick Airport (LGW) is about 40 minutes from Brighton, whereas Stansted Airport (STN) is approximately 1h 30min from Norwich.

I put the review all together for the first review

I liked that they gave us a couple of meals and drinks but the meal was not good and not many options especially if we are seated in the back of the plane.

Again on this leg the WiFi wouldn't work. The seats were comfortable with adequate cushion and space between seats for my legs. Very nice 3-hour flight.

Everything was great, however the seats in the back are very small. Not as Comfortable as I would have liked.

Excellent food. Good service. Crammed Premium Economy seats. I Asked to change seats during check in. They told me the flight was fully booked. But on board I saw empty seats where I could have been easily relocated.

Good. Please add a non- applicable category to your questions.

Amazing crew, excellent food, business class seats seem a bit dated but are super comfy even for a very tall person. If continuing onto Taipei, the stopover in Bangkok is a bit annoying (queue at security) though the lounge is decent.

Boarding is fast and easy for economy class, food was ok baggage policies are good

Everything was fantastic! It was a short flight but the crew really went above and beyond to make it a great flight. I felt cared for with EVA.

Delayed due to no fault of flight crew. Efficient and worked well together.

Excellent airline. The plane was clean and the staff were very attentive

I'm not interested in improving the airline. Therefore, I won't explain this in more detail. Next time I'll try a different one.

The flight (boarding) was delayed by 40-50 minutes and there was very crowed. They need to improve on the timeliness & boarding process. (They asked passenger to board in groups, but the 2nd group was standing there waiting for 20 minutes!). However, services from the crew was very good, also the food was good as well. I also found the legroom was quite comfortable.

Except that our flight was cancelled, by mail, and later moved to 12 hours prior, then the experience was good. In Bangkok we were offered a hotel, it was fine, but would have been nice to know in advance😉

Although booked meal of fruit only The crew had not received this special meal The same happened on my flight Bangkok / CAN The films are so old that best is to use own computer to watch downloads . Serve nuts but they do not warm up . Service is attentive , WC clean

Delayed flight in Singapore caused the transfer at Bangkok to be very stressful. Fortunately, no elderly were in this trip, else it will not be possible to catch the connecting flight. There were also several occasions throughout the flight journey where some of the passengers were not wearing their seat belts despite several remainders from the stewardess.

USB charging port was not working at my seat 48K.

Always liked Thai Airways but in the past they have been very expensive, not being a millionaire just yet, I will use cheaper airlines. Bangkok to London £370 11 hours 45 mins. Old plane but ok. Lovely ladies on board, very polite. Food was ok. Will always use them if the price is right.

Check in was a disaster. 90 minutes and only 2 economy check in desks open. Had to rush to catch the flight.

I couldnt go on this flight and lost all my money over 1,000 UK Pounds as my visa to Myanmar was not accepted :(

I booked tickets for a family of five and specifically paid extra to select our seats together. We spent nearly $1,000 extra (around $100 per seat) for extra legroom so we could sit near each other. However, despite paying for this, we ended up being separated on the flight. This caused a major issue for our family because my parents do not speak English and rely on me to translate and assist them during the journey. I do not understand why Etihad changed our reserved seats without explanation. I am extremely dissatisfied with this experience. I expect the airline to do better, and I am requesting a full refund for the seat selection fees we paid.

1 hour delay meant missed my connecting flight and 1st day of holiday

We have paid premium price for a business class Cabinet and we have received the old 777 with the following apart business class that is not to standard. It was very disappointing and it’s a very bad reputation for a premium airline company. This aeroplane should be the commission from being as a business class. We will pass this knowledge to our colleagues because the quality of business class in Etihad is not consistent and it is a lucky dip that sometimes you’re getting a good aeroplane and sometimes you’re getting their 30 years old aeroplane. The crew of the aeroplane have apologise and said that they hate this aeroplane and they have complained about it multiple times as well. Obviously Etihad is putting the economy in front of the Customer Experience. For the future we will not take this risk anymore and will fly with established company like emirates.

Etihad Check In counter/Station manager in Heathrow was bothering and not helpful at all. They are rude and not customer oriented

I paid 44 $ for seat upgrade (22D) and my seat was stack in high position for all the 6 hours of flight. I don't recommend the upgrade. I am looking to get my upgrade payment back

Same problem place in the middle so small Im 1,85 m so not good 👍

I am a larger than average person and in my opinion i don't think it's fair to allocate a window seat to anyone who is my size or larger, i was seated between 2 large passengers on a full aircraft. The guy in the window seat also occupied a portion of the middle seat (my seat) which made my experience of flying with etihad very cramped and uncomfortable, i was flying from Abu Dhabi to Bangkok. Had this been a airbus 380 it would have been better as the seats are larger but unfortunately it wasn't so i had to endure the 6+hrs unable to get any rest

The business class experience is fantastic. The crew were polite but often unavailable even when I tried to call them! I even found myself bringing my used dishes and cutlery up to the crew because no one had come to collect it after over an hour.

The staff was very nice and polite but it was very very hot and no ways to have some fresh air. It would be nice to have more time to sleep since it was a night flight

Very very bad service very tight seats never ever flying with Etihad again

The entertainment could have been better, better choice / better headphones, but overall very satisfied

The friendly staff. They kept time. Was suprised to get some drinks.

Didn’t know you had to pay for earbuds and food on flight. Sounds awesome and better way to not waste food or items. Comfort of flight is was amazing other than that

I was not expecting having to pay for headphones, water and basic food in a 9 hours flight. Price for this flight was as high as any other, still I had to pay 4 lbs for a can of sprite. On top of that flight attendance gave a bothered look when I asked her for some ice for my soda. She reluctantly when to get it, brought me literally 3 cubes and walked away without looking at me to avoid another request. I couldn’t believe it. She was soooo rude. I will never book on Norse again and I will let everyone I know about this. Unforgivable, very bad customer service.

Great crew. Customer support is pretty much non existent. I had 2 tickets that were not used, the flight was overbooked. I think I should have been reimbursed for the unused tickets.

Why call us to board if we’re going to be made to stand in the tunnel for 20 minutes. Really hard for people with little children. Plus it took me ages to check in because my seat in Premium was overbooked so I didn’t actually have a seat. I did end up receiving my seat in Premium but there was a lot of stress and confusion beforehand. Hope is it possible to overbook seats? Especially in Premium!

We flew one way from Gatwick, London to JFK NY For 2 people $1200 and no food offered not even water. You had to buy food. Norse advertises as a low fare transatlantic airline, they may want rethink that. Crew, flight was fine. Ironically we flew American from JFK to Heathrow for $1000 (2people) and included food and drinks.

We flew premium on the way TO London but went back to economy for this flight. The differences I note here may be colored by changing service. The crew was professional and polite but cold on this flight and class of service. They seemed to want to have as little to do with us as possible, beyond providing the basic services in economy. The aircraft was still good though, and the pitch was about as tight as expected - manageable but no extra personal space to spare. Overall I would certainly fly Norse Atlantic again, given the opportunity.

I loved the ability to upgrade my seat which was worth it. The large seat and ability to recline made it comfortable to fall asleep. My only two complaints were entertainment (movie selections were old) and approx 30 mins before landing the crew started to collect the blankets despite the cabin air temperature remaining cold. Maybe wait for passengers to get off the plane before collecting the blankets.

Very much dislike: Airline requires check-in at the Airport Airline does not work with TSA PreCheck

Food is horrible. Flight was good and the staff were mostly men.

Delayed suitcase - terrible service to get my suitcase next day, I was informed it would arrive today in the afternoon (Jun/28). Now, I was informed I may or may not receive it until 3 am (Jun/29).

Seats were comfortable, but boarding was the worst I've ever seen. Way too much walking to get onboard as we had to go up & down steps several & then bus took us halfway around the airport for boarding & had to board outside after a very long bus rood.

I will never want to book with these people. They are arrogant and rude. Food was really really bad, crew was even worst

The plane was so old, it needs to be retired! The windows were rattling we paid for premier economy and there was no footrest. Video console was so old, barely had any games for kids. Video console is very slow to react. The gaming console was broken. The foldable food table was sticky and the air hostess had a rough time opening it and closing it for us!!

Generally very good. I think their service is better than some other big names I used to travel with. Their food variety is second to none - and you can place order beforehand. Their seating design is a bit awkward for service, I'd say. Flight attendants must be tall enough - long legs and arms - to reach the window seat passenger while crossing over the isle passenger. Also appreciated the variety on entertainment.

Could have used more leg room for “business class” which is basically coach with a middle seat blocked. Crew was friendly, attentive. Zero entertainment.

Generally okay. Disappointing compared to some of their competitors. My seat hadn’t been cleaned properly which was upsetting

Seats not as comfortable as I had hoped. Food was very nice, service was fine. Entertainment options very nice. Had thought the premium economy was a more plus 2-3-2 layout but it was a 2-4-2 with seats not as wide as I had expected.

It’s the old style plane with the old Ying Yang seats doesn’t compare to other airlines with newer planes.
