FAQs - booking Egypt flights

  • Can I fly directly from Manchester to Egypt?

Yes, direct flights to Egypt are available from Manchester, but they all land in Sharm El Sheikh Airport (SSH). So if you want to fly to Cairo you'll make at least one stopover en route. easyJet operates the majority of direct flights, with airlines such as Ryanair and Wizz Air making at least one stop on the way. SWISS and Aegean Airlines also offer single-stop flights, first landing in Zurich and Athens, respectively.

  • How can I fly more sustainably on this route?

You can reduce your carbon footprint by over 30% if you fly with easyJet from Manchester to Egypt. This is a direct flight that takes about 5h 40min. Another option is to book a combination flight with Ryanair and Wizz Air, on which you'll change aircraft in Milan. This saves just over 25% in CO2 emissions. On this route you can choose to fly either to Sharm El Sheikh International Airport (SSH) or Cairo International Airport (CAI). Landing in Cairo will put you in the country's capital city, from where you can strike out to country's most famous tourist attractions, like the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx. If you're booking a coastal holiday alongside the Red Sea, rather fly to Sharm El Sheikh. It's a resort city further south, near one of the world's prime scuba diving destinations, the Ras Muhammad National Park.

  • How do I get to and from the various airports?

To get to Manchester Airport you can either take a train from the city's Piccadilly Station, a trip of about 25 minutes, or catch a bus from Manchester Shudehill Interchange, which will take about 40 minutes to reach the airport. From Cairo International, hop onto the Line 111 bus that will take you to Cairo Fair Station, and then catch a train to central Bab el Shaaria Station. There isn't any public transport available from Sharm El Sheikh, but it's relatively close to the city centre and you can get there by hire car or taxi in around 20 minutes.

Top tips for finding a cheap flight from Manchester to Egypt

  • Manchester Airport (MAN) has a unique attraction that you can visit, rather than waiting in the terminal for your flight. Instead, talk a short walk to Runway Visitor Park, where you can see one of the original Concorde aircraft.
  • You'll need a visa to enter Egypt, which you can obtain before you leave from the nearest Egyptian consulate, or using its online platform. This will be in the form of an e-visa and will allow you to stay in the country for up to three months.
  • If you're willing to part with a few extra pounds, Manchester Airport's Escape Lounge offers hot or cold meals, a full-service bar, additional comfort and a quiet room where you can relax or nap before your flight.
  • Cairo Airport is the home terminal for the country's national carrier, Egyptair. This makes it the better choice as a destination airport if you intend to fly domestically to other tourist cities in the country.
  • All three airports in Manchester and Egypt have limited mobility facilities and support staff on hand. It's best to advise the airports 48 hours in advance of your arrival, through your travel agent or the airline.

On time, great food, good drink selection! Only down was alcohol-free lounge. Lufthansa had a much better offering!

Turkish Business Class is a wonderful experience, and the best inflight dining experience I’ve had to date.

The crew was amazing and the food was really good too

I missed the flight during my lay over in Istanbul, due to health condition. Customer service was awful. It was a nightmare. I had to purchase a new flight to my destination and was told that my return flight is compromised due to one segment of the trip being missed. NOBODY responded to my numerous calls and emails. I will never use Turkish airline in the future.

It was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. It’s comfortable the flight attendant. Respect you anything you ask for they gave you except the water.

I like Turkish airline, but the food sucks. None of my children eat the food, including me, and it was really hot and

Food could of been a bit more premium, but everything was excellent. LOVED the innovative boarding drinks and terrific service!

Turkish Airlines lost my reservation!!! I had to wait 8 hours for the next flight. They provided me with no food no water. Completely ridiculous!!! Never fly on this airline.

Very bad boarding staff. I was flying business. We were stashed in a bus as much as it could be filled with business then economy passengers. By the time we have reached the plane we have waithed 10 more minutes inside the bus mext to the plane because of some documental work in the plane. I guess TGS -Turkish Airlines Ground Services forgot yo radio the plane if it was ready.

Staff could have been friendlier and offered drinks more often

Whole way through - far more professional and slick than I expected

Good news was that Bag Check was open two and a half hours before the flight, which is essential with the chaotic immigration process. Flight was okay, but sitting at the back of the aircraft, 3 overhead bins on both sides were filled with crew bags and other misc items, so we couldn't put our cabin bags anywhere near us. To add insult, twice the crew managed to drop items that they were taking out of the overhead bins onto my wife's head, who was sitting in an aisle seat.

It was good; the only down side is that once you get to the airport everything is self service, there is no one assisting. I felt like I was working while I was on vacation during the check in process and dropping off the luggage. Really uncertain on what the airlines use payroll nowadays.

You need to make signage at Berlin Airport clearer. Having checked in online we had our boarding passes onlour phones. You do not make it clear that you need to check in again to receive a printed luggage tag. You get to baggage drop off and it says you can only do it with a luggage tag BUT not how to get this.

It was good except they could offer free water and tea/coffe

Sitting on the last row in between the aisle and a massive person, all people going to the bathroom bumped into me including the flight attendants.

Sat at rear of aircraft and was very cold. As a frequent flyer for many years, this is was the coldest I have ever been. Other passengers and some crew were complaining how cold it was. Sitting near the doors always risks being colder, just the way the aircraft works - but this was exceptional, bring a good jumper. Everything else was pretty standard easyJet - good value low cost carrier.

The best budget airline in Europe. Flight was on time, crew friendly and worked hard during flight and were able to meet our needs. Only downside (not the airline's fault), there were no rear steps.

It was transportation nothing more. I will give a positive rating over Ryanair. We missed our Ryanair flight the night before and received rude and unconcerned treatment from the Ryanair customer service. It was late. We were very tired and stressed after doing our best to get to the airport. The so called customer service ladies were completely unconcerned from the start. Aside from that, the flight to London seemed to be their opportunity for advertising. No time to relax as attendants were constantly in the aisle selling. I will never fly Ryanair again!!

Boarding and disembarking were smooth. Not offering free water was cheap ... I've never encountered that before on a flight.

Flight map did not work. Crew was great, food was good, plane took off on time and landed early. That's all I can ask.

Paid for exit row at the back of the plane. Window seat with lots of leg space. Food was inedible (as usual). Brought my own.

Efficiency of staff, and comfort and cleanliness of aircraft was all great. Maybe a hot drink without payment at that time in the morning would be good!

Everything was really great just The aircraft was too old and sounded it will break during takeoff

The plane was late (as was my flight out from Birmingham the day before)

Premium Economy was very comfortable. Flight staff was cheerful and helpful.

Beautifully maintained airplane, good food, professional crew, top-notch communication. I highly recommend Lufthansa for intercontinental flights between the United States and Europe.

The flight was delayed by an hour. Made the connection uncomfortably tight.

When we went to the lounge they told us to go into the main lounge and not the full business class section, later they told me that Lufthansa wont pay the full fee to alloq the business class passengers entry to the nicer sectikn where all the other airlines nusiness class passengers go into. Very poor arrangement.

Very good. I thought the choice of Mediterranean food such as falafel for lunch was very thoughtful considering we were flying to Cairo.

It was a safe flight with a friendly cabin crew.

The flight was never confirmed, I was not sent a ticket, and my account was charged for this flight. I’m trying to get my money back for a flight that was not booked or confirmed. Terrible experience

The plane was too hot inside. There was no entertainment and we had to sit on the plane for one hour before takeoff. There was no free wifi.

Online check-in was unavailable for my flight. So I waited 40 min in the queue at the check-in counter. Then, unlike any other airline in the world (and I am a very frequent international flyer) Pegasus was adamant that my CPAP was just another carry on and that I had to pay extra for it. Then, after I had paid in advance for a seat, they insisted I could not sit in an exit row because I was over 60 years old (I'm clearly in good shape and buy exit row seats more or less weekly). We pushed back harder and harder and insisted on talking to the station chief, who spoke with the counter staff by phone (not to me) and eventually relented. Experience on boarf was ok-- for a budget airline.

You adjourned my flight by 1h 30 mns and only updated me 1h30 mns before the new scheduled flight. I submitted an email to Kayak asking for a refund. It was the most stressful experience I've had.

Not because when i try to do check in there is only in turkish language i can not select other language

Don't fly Pegasus, terrible service at the airport and boarding was really bad. Both flights I took with them were significantly late. This flight had us all changing the gate at the last moment and it was chaos.withour explanation or apology. The planes have seats that don't recline and seats are really hard. The crew on board was good both flights, but that is the only positive thing I can say about this airline. It's not worth it and I won't be flying them again.

The airport staff were some of the worst I've ever flown, and I fly at least 50x every year. From the staff at the gate, to the check in staff, to the ticketing sales staff. My experience in Instanbul was so bad Ill.never fly Pegasus again. They were incredibly rude, dismissive and not helpful whatsoever. This is the worst of the worst if you want to fly a budget airline I'd go elsewhere. The airplane seats are really uncomfortable and don't recline at all, you get charged for every single thing so in the end you will pay more flying with them. The crew on the plane were the only kind people we encountered with Pegasus.

Pegasus Airlines which is the most efficient and cost worth low cost airline all over the Europe

The temperature in the plane was very warm, never experienced in any airlines we have flown, normally its freezing. our trip from JFK to Cairo was unbearably warm.

My flight was great. Service by the crew was great. Only issue I had wss it got extremely warm mid way thru the flight. To the point it was a little uncomfortable

As usual, the flight was late with the typical excuse of "a technical issue beyond our control." This is the same excuse they use every late flight which is EVERY flight.

3 hours delay for a 1.5h flight on a stinky plane

The food was horrible and the service was even worse, the entertainment was broken and missing control stick, even boarding was unorganised unprofessional, even the seats was loose, 5 hrs delay going and almost 3hrs delay coming back, the only thing is direct flight but with all the delays I can get a lot better airline for cheaper and a lot better service.

Very good service with EGYPTAIR, would definitely recommend flying with them.

To be honest, there has been a significant improvement in the level of EgyptAir in terms of service and food quality.

Very basic service in business class. Mediocre will be the right word to describe them. Also, we arrived 8 hours late.

Flight was delayed for 3 hrs and there is nothing at the terminal except going back through security again. Food was offered but no vegetarian option

The worst experience ever, me and my little daughter suffered a lot on this trip. If there is zero or below-zero evaluation, definitely, I will give them.
