Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Flight left on time. Reasonable price. Friendly staff."
Cons: "Priority boarding didn't really work."
Pros: "Boarding was straight forward and fast."
Cons: "Very basic comfort. Less leg room."
Pros: "The crew was friendly. I enjoyed the low fee to get priority boarding with guaranteed cabin baggage."
Cons: "The crew was late, which delayed our takeoff by 20 minutes, which is unpleasant when you have already boarded the plane and are stuck in your seat. However, the flight only landed 5 minutes later than planned. The seats are not very comfortable for flights longer than one hour. There is not enough room to work on your laptop at your seat. I was constantly bumping elbows with the passenger next to me. The cabin temperature was extremely warm. I was sweating nearly the entire flight and I felt very uncomfortable."
Cons: "Flight didn’t leave until about 11 as boardinf didn’t start until after 10 so we arrived in Manchester at midnight."
Pros: "Nothing -apart from the fact I eventually got to the destination I needed the same day!!"
Cons: "The delays. The lack of information. It became obvious we were not going to leave on time. But No announcement. nobody told us of the delay - or why. Then the conflicting information. Technical problems. Flight cancelled. Go to Ryan air deal to organise your own forward travel. Then - once back through Police & customs. No - flight going to happen!!! I have more to say about service & crew - but no space"
Cons: "Sneaky pricing methods set up to catch you on return flight when you have no option but to pay to get back with dreadful unprofessional staff. I will never fly with them again if I can help it.i will go out off my way to tell as many as possible to never use or trust them."
Pros: "Nothing !!"
Cons: "Had to pay for not checking in 2hrs before 55 euros per person, After booking information there isnt clear enough notification asking for prior check-in. Flight attendants allowed anyone and everyone change seats before takeoff .. simply seems like Ryanair has no procedures and rules to follow... flight attendants look like they are on life support.. no smiling or kindness whatsoever... Seats were really uncomfortable, cant even recline the seats. Landing was scary. Budget of all budget airlines.. simply a joke and a waste of money ... vueling or easyjet is a 100 times better"
Cons: "Poor customer service, no information on or apology for delay. Then 1.5 hrs after landing our baggage finally came on the baggage carousel. Again no explanation or info. Very poor experience."
Cons: "No drinks left hot or cold for whole flight"
Pros: "The crew didn’t allow a very visibly drunk passenger on board which was good. We were concerned about him coming on the plane so were very pleased they didn’t allow him to board."
Cons: "The plane was delayed and when we did board it was very clear that absolutely no cleaning had taken place. Appreciate the effort not to be any later than we were but not nice to get to a seat with crisps and malteasers everywhere."
Cons: "Delayed then not delayed then the crew were late and made no attempt to hurry themselves then wen we boarded we were told we were delayed an hour and 40 minutes so had to sit there on the plane with no1 telling us wats going on or wen we were leaving! No refreshments available while we were waiting really poor from Ryan air I won't be flying with them agen"
Cons: "Very unimpressed with Kayak. Was contacted to pay more money than originally sold due to their speed of service between me buying via kayak and them contacting Ryanair. Flight was absolutely fine but kayak service awful."
Pros: "Overall a great flight! Uncomplicated and easy even for a family of five. We got a great deal on the flights and service was good!"
Cons: "We were late boarding and departing for both departures, yet we gained time in the air. Great job!"
Cons: "Was approached when queing and told my bag was to go in the hold, there were people that had bigger/more bags that were not told this, i understand that if there is not enough room but surely first come first serve, we stood in the que specifically that this would not happen as we were in rush once we landed and did not have time to wait for bags. There were many people behind us that got to take their bag into the cabin."
Pros: "The crew . Very sweet cabin crew ,new 737 ,with lots of “snazzy lights"
Cons: "Cramped space despite the new “improved”leg room due to te slimmer seats"
Pros: "Very friendly crew"
Cons: "Paying €6 for two small bottles of water."
Pros: "Crew, Airpiort Check in Staff, Boarding & Special Assistance Team are excelent. Would travel anytime with them and would recommend."
Cons: "Food is not good & food prices are a complete rip off. Better making a packed lunch it tastes better and a fraction of the cost. Hold luggage is a bit expensive. But the bad points can be said for all budget airlines. But the good points can't be said for most budget airlines. So we'll done Ryanair on these."
Pros: "Leg room"
Cons: "Boarding, very slow and a bit late as was takeoff"
Pros: "We landed 10 minutes earlier than expected"
Cons: "We paid £80 a person which is over double what it costs us to fly there with vueling on less notice They then moved the boarding location after everyone had lined up causing us to loose out place in the queue They made us check our cabin bags which we were warned could happen but is never appreciated The seats were uncomfortable and very cramped for leg room The touched down while not totally their control was very harsh and a panel over the engine actually slid open on touch down which is a little concerning There was also a 20 minute delay taking off"
Pros: "The flight left mire or less on time and arrived 30 minutes early."
Cons: "Once again no soap in the forward toilet."
Pros: "The overall experience was good."
Cons: "The possibility that our flights may be cancelled."
Pros: "The flight was basic, without added perks such as a screen on the back of the seat in front of you, but it also got us to Rome safely. For that, I thank you."
Cons: "The flight was delayed one hour by an unknown issue and boarding staff did not communicate at the gate. Some of the passengers were boarded then the rest of the passengers were left standing in line at the gate for a prolonged period of time. Boarding staff did not address the passengers while we waited. We did not know how serious the issue was while we waited, if we were going to be allowed to board, or if the flight was going be cancelled. Just before boarding the issue was attributed to a passenger from the previous flight who was in a wheelchair and required assistance. Would have been nice to know while we waited."
Pros: "Attentive crew and departed on time."
Cons: "The seat was not the most comfortable (of course) and the 10EUR meal I bought was not good either."
Pros: "Competitive price. Ryanair delivered on time - no frills but value for money"
Cons: "Price and punctual"
Cons: "Our flight from Menorca to Barcelona was delayed. We got to Barcelona for our flight to Berlin about 3 minutes after checked baggage was closed. They refused to let us check our bags so we had to go through security with are checked luggage. I had to throw away three beautiful bottles of French and Spanish wine. They also told us that the next flight they could get us on was Sunday when our flight that we were on was on a Thursday. So, we ran through the airport, through security, and through the terminal to get to our flight. We arrived at our gate to see that no one had boarded and an announcement that our flight had been delayed an hour. Not one person on the Ryanair team told us about the delay. It was an awful experience and I will never fly cheap airlines again. It's not worth the savings."
Cons: "Awful service from Ryanair , first time using them and definitely last time. Told to put my bag in storage underneath but I was travelling with only one bag and was in a rush. Such an inconvenience."
Pros: "the crew was very nice."
Cons: "expensive for the service."
Pros: "Flight was fine"
Cons: "Airport is an abomination, can't cope with 2 flights landing close together . Don't use it ."
Cons: "Cramped seats. Did not disclose that you would have to pay an extra fee for seats if you wanted to select them (so I could sit with my husband). First time flying Ryanair. Did not know we had to print out our boarding passes ahead of time (until they emailed us a reminder the day before) or pay $15 each for the print out at the counter. The place we were staying didn't have a printer, so I had to waste a good deal of my vacation time dealing with this and finding a way to get it printed. I chatted with someone at Ryanair and they said the thing about printing your boarding passes was in the fine print. Why? This shouldn't be a secret!"
Pros: "I booked the front extra legroom seats. Worth every penny. Easy flight and great price. Very efficient at boarding etc. So arrived home on time."
Cons: "Staff how it's possible u miss the flight to the front to the gate"
Pros: "The crew was nice. The flight was safe. Boarding was efficient."
Cons: "Questionable ethics in terms of check in. You have to check in online at least two hours before or prepare to pay a fee. This is not spelled out upon purchase of ticket. When checking in, you need to print or download boarding pass or pay a fee when arriving at airport. You must pay for a checked bag before arrival to airport or (you guessed it) pay a fee. We were fortunate to avoid all fees except for the checked bag fee (a convenience fee on top of the price to check a bag). Ryanair's emails provided no link or instructions to check a bag. Also, springing all this information on us two days before travel was sketchy at best. My guess is a healthy percentage of customers use Ryanair for flights in the middle of a vacation and investigating these details are the last thing on travelers' minds. Ryanair knows exactly what they're doing revealing the info when they do."
Cons: "Awful experience. Could not print boarding passes online and tried to pull them up at the airport, but there was no internet connection. Staff was incredibly rude and tried to make us pay $50 to print on site. Finally downloaded the passes (which, by the way, we had to obtain at least 24 hrs in advance - an easy email to miss). "Priority boarding" (also paid extra for) was a joke. Everyone had to get on a bus to arrive at the plane, and no order was kept, so it was basically a free-for-all to board the plane (lots of flying elbows). As a result, the overhead space by our seats (second row) was filled and we had to put our bags much further back (again defeating the purpose of "priority boarding"). Upon arrival to our destination, there was zero indication that our checked bag would be at completely different terminal. It took going through lost and found and 2 information folks to find the correct baggage claim area (and another go through security). All in all, a terrible experience. Not worth the extra $$ we may have saved. AVOID!!!"
Pros: "The plan was clean and seats comfortable with enough leg room for all but the longest legs. Hot drinks, as in all flights way to expensive. Flight crew very nice and helpful. Over all we were very pleased and we fly quite a lot."
Pros: "The flight was good and on time. Crew were kind and professional."
Pros: "Boarding is fast. Left on time, arrived early!"
Cons: "I would like more convenient times for this flight from Prestwick."
Pros: "got to Rome 5 hours late"
Cons: "This flight was about the 5th leg of our European trip. I attempted several times to complete the early check in on the website so that we would save the fee of checking in later at the airport but I was unable to. We left our hotel 4 hours prior to the flight departure because the metro ride was 1 hour to the Barcelona airport. Next, we waited in line at the airport and were then told to go wait in another line and pay 50 euros each for the airport check-in. Then, our flight was delayed so we got to spend a whole day of our vacation in the Barcelona airport! What a waste of valuable time for us. Next tour of Europe I will gladly spend up to $400 more for a reliable flight on a different airlines. Time is more valuable, especially vacation time!"
Pros: "Good flight out"
Cons: "A shame there was an hours delay on return journey with no information given"
Pros: "Food when it finally arrived 30 minutes before we landed"
Cons: "Delays on boarding which led to a rescheduled takeoff which was 2 hours late."
Cons: "Suitcases took ages to come out!"
Cons: "At least a water bottle should be given to passengers free of cost"
Pros: "It was on time and check in at airport was fine. The online part was the nightmare!"
Cons: "Check in online was a nightmare. I spent close to an hour on their 'Chat feature' because their website would not accept our ID documents, LEGAL USA PASSPORTS!!!!!! 'Chat rep' finally asked what browser I was using. Google Chrome! It's pretty common. She had to input the info and then told me to print the boarding passes because RyanAir would charge 15 euros EACH to print at airport That's highway robbery! We finally managed to forward the ..pdf to hotel reception and they printed them. RyanAir should not assume that a traveller has access to a printer or a cell phone that functions abroad."
Pros: "no hassle at boarding"
Pros: "This Ryan air trip was a bit more relaxed, smooth and fast. I paid Ymir the extra suitcase check in and geared that Ryan air and extremely particular in weight. My 20 kg bag came a little over but it was fine, nothing said. It was smooth and no issues. I would book Ryan air again"
Pros: "Flown many times, no frills but they get you to your destination."
Cons: "Changed the gate in the last 5 mind before the gate closed - shreds the nerves when you are catching an international flight!"
Pros: "Crew were friendly and efficient"
Cons: "Delayed over an hour and the boarding was a joke."
Pros: "The plane arrived on time to Rome. That's about it."
Cons: "Not much TO like. The biggest problem was having our luggage LOST for 90 mins after arriving at Rome. How does the plane lose our luggage on a DIRECT flight? And in that time items disappeared from one of our suitcases. Specifically, $60 U.S. And a set of Bluetooth wireless earphones. My fault I know for putting cash in a checked bag, but I KNOW they were in there when we left Barcelona. Just a huge lack of respect by their employees. But having to wait 90 mins to retrieve our luggage was just uncalled for. Also, having the flight crew acting like street vendors trying to sell items during the flight was very low class. I know you get what you pay for, but it felt very cheesy and unprofessional to have them moving thru the plane hawking wares."
Pros: "cheap flight"
Cons: "Arrived at the airport on time, but there were 4 long lines to check bags with Ryanair, which they then proceeded to shut down 2 of. We were told to go to one of the other two lines, so we did, only to have a crew member come up to us and start yelling in Spanish. I wasn't sure what she'd said, so I replied in English that we'd been told to get on this line and she just walked away. When we finally got to the front, another crew member told us the line was closed and that we'd gotten on too late. I told her we were now running late after standing on two different lines and being shuffled around, she snapped back that she was leaving and we had to wait on a different line. We waited so long to check a bag (that we'd already paid for!!) had to rush through security and boarded our flight with only a few minutes to spare. I've never seen such rude and unhelpful staff!!!!!"
