Upon hearing that the seat was broken, the airline crew offered my mother a check for 100 SGD (14% of the ticket value) to be used on Singapore airlines (for the discomfort caused for over 50% of the flight time). They changed her seat from Seoul to Singapore. When I wrote to them about it, they came back saying they had offered her a seat change from LA to Singapore, and she had declined, which is absolutely false. When I called that out, they said, maybe they did not offer aisle seats (note that the broken seat was not aisle). So it just shows that they don't want to accept that they messed up. They even told me that despite their best efforts in pre-flight checks, certain defects only surface when the flight is in progress. Will never ever travel on this airline again."

The flight or them was last minute (booked less than 8 hours before take off) so there were no pre-planned kids meals etc. The in cabin team were awesome! They made sure they go a choice of meals, that they had things to do, that they were enjoying the flights. This on top of the usual awesome that they have."

I had to find out how to get out of Berlin. I had to fly to Spain to my cousin’s home because I haf no where to go and did not have money to pay for another flight from Berlin to LAX 1,200 euros. I am still in Europe stuck and it is Monday 4/30. My son needs me in Los Angeles! I will never use Kayak again. What happened to my $878 dollars????"

So pissed off I paid extra for business class when I would've gotten more sleep in a middle seat in coach."

Then the in flight entertainment wasn't working for some people so they had to reboot the system which took about half an hour and I lost my place in the movie I was watchIMG. I guess it helped that they give you free booze, which was helpful in relaxing after all the issues. Overall I did not enjoy this flight even half as much as I did the way there."

Cons: "Customer service and ability to sort out technical issues were truly appalling. My touch screen monitor crashed and the controls that would enable me to alert crew members for any concerns also didn't work. Both issues happened twice. The second time, I informed them that if these technical issues continued to fail and couldn't be resolved, I needed to be placed in another seat, of which I specifically told them was not to be a seat far behind my current row seat. Instead, they went and offered me a seat that was 22 rows behind, especially after I had paid extra fees to sit in the seat I was given higher up the aisle. I also informed them that I wasn't feeling well and the closer I was to the exit when we landed, the better. They ignored these concerns. That is unacceptable considering that it was their system that was faulty in the first place that led to these problems. Their staff also failed to regularly walk the aisles to ensure customers were okay with the service. I've been on planes whereby the crew is constantly walking around to ensure everyone is being taken care of. For example, I had a great experience with Korean Air where I saw staff every 10-15mins checking on customers. Air New Zealand completely failed in this regard. When my system crashed the second time, because I couldn't call anyone in the crew using the controls on my touch screen, and the person sat next to me was asleep (didn't want to wake him up to use his device to call!), I waited 25-30mins before going up to the crew station to seek help. I had to wait an additional 10-15mins before I even saw someone at the crew station. There are some other issues I encountered but the above were the main ones. This is the first time I've actually had to criticize an airline for it's customer service. I've been travelling for over 25 years and never encountered what I did today. I certainly won't be flying with them again."

The crew didn't seem that familiar with the types on offer, ie savignon blanc, chardonnay etc. They just handed you the wine and hoped it would be ok. I felt for such a long flight the crew could have announced that if anyone would like extra snax or drinks then feel free to call a member of the crew or even go to the kitchen and ask. Wifi was offered on the flight but it wasn't explained how to use it so I didn't have this facility as I couldn't connect! Once we asked it was explained but I still wasn't able to connect. Would be helpful if this could be explained / announced to the passengers."

For example they didnt provide earplug and sleeping beauty and they served the breakfast too early, so it was not enough time to sleep. After the breakfast there was still plenty of time around 1,5-2 hours. I think with the departure time at 03.00 a.m. the airline try to save one foood just after the departure. The asian noodle what they provided upon request, was not sufficiant neither fit to the rank of the airline."

I couldn't get out of the seat once as he just slept and must of drempt as kept jumping and banging me. I had 1 meal on the over 13hr flight, which I couldn't eat properly as was unable to use the knife & fork due to the huge obese guy next to me. I asked the stewardess to wake me at all meal times. Which she didn't. So missed all the meals and tea/coffee. I was looking forward to the put a too. The London to Singapore flight was a total let down and I expected so much more from Quantus as they have always been top standard before. Overall disgusted in the service."

The meal options are better out of Singapore than coming in to Singapore, The "order ahead" breakfast concept, where you place your order for breakfast when you board has it pros and cons. The personal service is nice, but one needs to know almost 12 hours ahead of time what they feel like eating. Overall a positive, but for me, it's hard for me to anticipate my appetite. It was my first A380 flight (together with the Sydney - Singapore leg), and overall I was disappointed relative to the Dreamliner. Yet it stands out as a positive the way that Qantas has configured business class on the upper deck. It's quite peaceful."

The plane had no room of any kind, especially for a taller person, and there was no choice but to put your seat back if the person in front of you had. The inflight entertainment was also far less advanced. After having such an excellent flight to Australia I was highly disappointed by the flight home. Other than putting us in a free hotel for the night and paying for taxi fares there was no compensation which cost me a full day of work."

There are good gluten free noodles, and most of the NORMAL meals would be find as long as gratuitous adding of wheat products to sauces was avoided (there is no excuse for soysauce or cornflour containing gluten - wheat and flour are additives that should not be present in ANY product that isn't specifically a wheat product). If the Asian meals, curry and rice, etc. were made with care they would be GF and many (Australian) restaurants offer GF variants of their meals. Still don't understand why they didn't give me real butter or real milk... Should have announced explicitly that we needed to pick up and clear and recheck baggage (on same tag) before our domestic flight."

We got there in the end but basically they have said that that if we want to get our seats before check in opens we need the pay. We have never had to do this before and I was very shocked and surprised. They eventually relented and resolved the issue however the damage was already done. For a company that is associated with the local autism society I was very disappointed that they don't recognise it for the challenge that it can be."

It's easy to forget how utterly mediocre AA is. The food isn't great, the air quality on the flight is terrible and leaves you feeling oily. They don't air-condition the plane until after everyone is boarded so the whole process is hot, sweaty, and unpleasant. Many of the staff are flat out rude to people (I was never on the receiving end, but I overheard what I considered very abrasive tones to others). And so on. Ideally I'd fly on other airlines I think."

Had it been busy, it would have been different in that seats were not very wide, aisles very small, if the seat in front reclines and you don't, you can't see your screen and not a lot of space in general."

Several hours later, a different FA came over and just shut my shade; I reopened it. What a stupid tug of war."

Also it was tough doing transfers because once again, none of the departure screens refer to "Iberia flights." It was also tough to check-in. Instructions were not clear in terms of the booking number to use. The Iberia app had a lot of usability problems. The seats are too cramped. I'd have to take out a loan to be able to afford business class or 1st class. It's absolutely horrible for everyone in coach. Especially for long flights as this one. The food was subpar, but that is to be expected in my opinion. Would have been nice to offer complementary headphones. I wasn't able to utilize the entertainment because my headphones are blue tooth. Upon arrival, we had to sit on the tarmac for 20 minutes because there was another airplane in our spot."

The Airbus A300 was a reasonably new aircraft. Everything was clean and looked good. The food was exceptionally good. My wife and I both commented on how good the food was (my wife stated, "it was the best airplane food ever"). The main meal, the hotbox snack, and the late in flight chocolate ice cream were ALL good. The staff were great, friendly, service oriented, nice people."

I had never seen boarding close that early and it was very frustrating, because the boarding then took a very long time, since they searched us for no reason, and our flight ended up taking off 30 minutes late! As passengers, we felt very rushed, it seems, for no reason."
Pros: "Having flown long haul with American numerous times, this time I was pleasantly surprised by several things. Firstly, the brand new plane with excellent in-seat entertainment choices, power points at every seat, more comfortable chairs with better head rests and even window dimmers vs. window shades, allowing you to look outside the whole flight. Secondly, the food was much improved...definitely better quality and tastier than typical airline food. And thirdly, better service from flight attendants who actually smiled. Keep up the good work. This represents a real step change."

A woman with a two-year old had one of the malfunctioning monitors and was forced to entertain her child for nine hours without tv, movies or music. Similarly, on our flight over to London 10 days earlier, my husband and I were 2 of more than 30 passengers whose monitors never worked and we were forced to fly for 7 hours in the dark on an overnight flight staring at the backs of seats. It was miserable. The cabin crew told passengers they had begged the airline for years to replace the system but the airline refuses. Will not fly American Airlines transatlantic again."

Cons: "My 11am flight had engine problems, so at 1pm they asked if anyone wanted to leave and take the 2pm flight to Charlotte. About 30 people said yes, as I did too. After running across Heathrow to make flight, we got on plane and Waited....seems after running a Mile across the airport, they Decided to HOLD the Flight and have everyone from 11am flight take the 2pm flight to Charlotte. All the baggage had to be taken from 11am flight and brought to 2pm flight. Delay for take off was almost 2 HOURS!!! Instead of arriving in Charlotte at 3pm, we were Leaving at that time!!! Didn't get to Charlotte until almost 9pm. NO ONE on Flight from 11am was Happy about this."

I liked the fact that we got ice cream halfway through the flight also, that's not a very common thing! Entertainment system was very good -- lots of choices of things to watch/listen to! I was pleased to find that there were movies available that had been very recently released that I had been wanting to see!"
Cons: "Comfort was okay, my seat was on the end of a row with three seats (aisle side) and immediately behind me was a row with only two seats. Without fail, the flight attendants bumped their carts into my chair EVERY time they passed. If I had been trying to sleep, this would be much more of a disturbance to me. Seeing as I was just watching movies and enjoying the food, it wasn't that much of an issue. However, I think it would be easy for the flight attendants to just take a second longer to try to navigate around the chair and not bump it every time. Little things like that go a long way, especially on a long flight."
Pros: "The gentlemen from the wheelchair service who was there to pick us up when we arrived in Heathrow went above and beyond his duties. Instead of passing us over to another wheelchair attendant as we needed to switch terminals, he stayed with us thru the terminal change until we were on the airplane. We needed to get our boarding passes at Heathrow from a different airline and he helped us with this. Kudos to him!! The attendants on this flight were very helpful when my husband was having a diabetic reaction and I was vomiting form air motion sickness. We were a mess!! However the flight attendants were sure we had a wheelchair in Chicago and helped us with our bags as we were exiting the plane. Nice Job"
Pros: "The entertainment selection was prolific, with many many movies to choose from including recent releases. The staff provided plenty of beverages to help the time slide by nicely. The seats had both USB and 110V power outlets which was awesome. The entertainment systems work with regular iPhone headsets which was good."
Cons: "Couldn't get our meal preference selected, Iberia page for the flight check-in didn't work at all, getting a page not found error. Then after calling Iberia, and getting the AA confirmation managed to at least get into AAs web site for the flight, but now it was apparently too late to change our food option, and AA wouldn't work with us at all, the phone agent event LIED on the phone suggesting we could talk to customer service at the airport to have them provide an appropriate meal option. The customer service line was CORDONED OFF at LAX, and getting help out of their agents was like trying to get blood from a stone. The worst customer service experience I've ever had, even than Comcast. Then, I guess this ticket is economy minus, you have to pay more for seats that aren't at the total arse end of the plane. WTF. Economy means economy, not the back end of economy, but now you gotta pay to "upgrade" to regular economy. I can't imagine what that must have been like for families of four with children who are being extorted just so they can sit together. Then at the airport, despite having been assigned a gate, the plane came into a different gate, and we're just sitting there slowly wondering more and more why there aren't many people around. Finally we have to go ask another airlines' desk where our plane is at (it never had a correct gate assignment on the monitors) to figure out where we had to board. No announcement, no agent at the old gate to direct passengers to the correct place. Upon traveling to London on the red-eye, they proceeded to keep the plane completely dark the entire trip. No attempt to help passengers adjust to the destination time zone at all. Trying to open a window resulting in being curtly asked to close it. Jet lag on eastbound transatlantic is bad enough without the airline making it worse. On the return journey the line for the gate was around the corner AFTER boarding had started, and people couldn't board in any sort of order. My entertainment system crashed, when they finally came round with food, I could ask them to reset it. Having paid for the Wifi, which is fine, it's an add-on service, it was difficult to connect to, my phone really struggled to bring up the sign-in page, and I had to reboot my laptop three times, clearing my browser cache to get it to connect. The connection and payment screens were very slow, which was because the wifi overall was very slow. I am sitting on the plane waiting to hear from my father about his critical surgery with my phone dropping on and off the wifi due to slowness and extreme packet loss (>50%). I had been hoping to get some work done on the flight, so much for that idea, I couldn't maintain a solid VPN connection for more than 5 minutes at a time. I will never fly AA again unless they are the last option at a non-horrible price. This was an emergency trip as it was, and booked through Iberia; thanks for nothing Iberia."
