FAQs - booking Lapland flights

  • Which routes from Manchester to Lapland have the fewest stopovers?

Flights from Manchester to Lapland will often include at least one stopover. If you fly to Rovaniemi Airport (RVM) or Kittilä Airport (KTT), there will usually just be one stop. Ryanair flights stop in Dublin (DUB), while Finnair flights stop in Helsinki (HEL). Flights to both main airports in Swedish Lapland will usually have two stops, one in Oslo (OSL) and one in Stockholm (ARN).

  • What is the main airport in Lapland?

Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland (RVM) is the largest airport in Lapland, and usually the most popular arrival airport for visitors from the UK. It is the closest airport to the popular Santa's Workshop attraction and is considered a gateway to the region. Rovaniemi is also Lapland's busiest airport and you will likely find the majority of flights from Manchester to Lapland arrive there. This means you'll have more options for departure times, airlines, and routes. It also tends to be one of the cheapest airports to arrive at.

  • Are children required to use a car seat when leaving the airport?

Children under the age of 12 are required by law to use a booster seat. Many car rentals can provide a booster, sometimes for an extra fee. If you'd prefer to bring your own, Finnair allows families to add a booster seat to their luggage allowance for no additional cost. Taxis usually don't have booster seats (and are exempt from the requirement) but if you book it in advance they may be able to provide one.

  • Do you need a visa to visit Lapland?

If you are visiting the Finnish, Swedish, or Norwegian parts of Lapland and have a UK passport you won't need a visa if you are staying less than 90 days. They are all part of the Schengen area, which lets UK visitors stay up to 90 days in a 180-day period. Remember that 90 days includes any travel to other Schengen countries.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Manchester to Lapland?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Manchester to Lapland.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Manchester to Lapland?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to Lapland from Manchester is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Manchester to Lapland?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional return ticket. You could then fly to Lapland with an airline and back to Manchester with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Manchester to Lapland?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Lapland from Manchester up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

  • The region of Lapland is mostly in Finland, but it also spans parts of northern Sweden, Norway, and Russia. If you'd like to fly from Manchester to Swedish Lapland, you can choose between Luleå Airport (LLA) and Kiruna Airport (KRN). Flights arriving at Luleå tend to be cheaper.
  • Kittilä Airport (KTT) is one option for those visiting Finnish Lapland. It is a very small airport and is the close to some of the best spots in Lapland to see the Northern Lights.
  • If you're travelling on a budget, you can often find direct flights between Manchester and Helsinki (HEL) that are cheaper than connecting flights to Lapland. From Helsinki, you can take the train to Rovaniemi for around €14 (£12).
  • Travelling with young children to Lapland? Finnair lets you include a fully collapsible stroller or pushchair in your checked luggage for no extra cost. All their intercontinental flights have baby bassinets available. Finnair also usually serves children's meals first to help ensure kids can get the meal they prefer.
  • If you plan on heading into the northern parts of Lapland such as Lake Sevettijarv and the Saariselka mountains then the best airport to arrive at will likely be Ivalo Airport (IVL). The IFE was unstable the entire flight seats are very dated for business class and meals were not good.

Flights were both delayed. No luggage on arrival for the whole plane and no contact since submitting a PIR.

Nice selection of movies and TV shows. Plane was generally nice, not the newest but nice nonetheless. However, Emirates should have cancelled the flight, as hardly any flights flew out of Dubai at the time. Flight delays and cancellation was poorly communicated and passengers were left guessing and to their own devices on what to do. Connection desks were staffed too thinly, there was one desk with more than a hundred clients and just one poor lady. When I had my flights rebooked, I was told meal vouchers can be scanned using my boarding pass, nope. Was told to comeback for my hotel voucher, none. Had to book my hotel voucher the usual way through Dubai Connect despite having been told twice to comeback to the counters twice.

Not that good The crew in the plane were rim professional & almost lost in their work distribution

Flight from Dubai to Zagreb very bad cabin crew. Bad food

Service needs to improve. Air hostess do not register flyers request and we need to keep on repeating our request to them on multiple occasions

Absolutely terrible delays for 3 hours changed seats after we paid an upgrade on both legs. It appears it’s up to us to request a refund after they down graded our seat. Never again !!

They had superb boarding (started an hour before flight time). Timely pushback from them gate and an early arrival. Flight and service was very comfortable. I wanted to move my flight to an earlier one, only thing was there was no one at emirates in Heathrow to help. Had to call the call the center and pay to change. There were ample seats on the flight though

Newly reconfigured 380 I assume. Has a new ife with usb c ports and Bluetooth connections

Check-in process at Bengaluru airport was atrociously slow. Emirates should allow baggage drop option after online check-in and verification of documents. The rest of the flight was quite good and we didn't have any complaints.

Very comfortable Prem economy seats for a long haul flight. Had a problem with the tv that the crew fixed so was great!

Not good. Flight was purchased for my father who needed medical assistance to board and transfer due to a heart condition. No one at Hong Kong from Cathay was there to assist and he barely made the connection. When I talked to him he could barely breath and was not sure he was going to make it. Really poor service even though the ticket stated he needed a wheelchair assistance.

The boarding experience was as expected and went well. The plane's economy seating plan is not designed for a positive customer experience but rather for company profit. When the passenger in front of me reclined, the distance from the screen to my face was the span of my hand (thumb tip to pinky fingertip). There is no such thing as personal space in this setting. This results in the domino effect, for when I recline the person in back of me reclines and so it goes. This is not to say that reclining is the answer as the experience is not increased, but simply managed.

My seat was sold off to someone else. Had to wait 9 hours to catch the next filght. Definitely will never use Cathay Pacific again. Bad, very bad airline. will comment on google reviews too.

Very poor check-in experience, and flight meal service was very disappointing with no drinks service or hot meal.

Flight crew was especially thoughtful and attentive, made sure our seats were comfortable so we could rest on the long flight

The coffee in Premium economy and economy is terrible. That's it. Everything else is great

One of the worst flight in business class by qatar airways and I’m no stranger with qatar airways businesses class, I travelled with the extensively in the past 12 years

Very comfortable flights. Not so many new releases in terms of films.

The crew were fine. I didn’t enjoy the food at all. I found it unappetising and really had trouble eating it. The comfort level was fine and our return flight is with Cathay Pacific but honestly I probably wouldn’t fly Cathay Pacific again.

The trip itself was good. I have given only good as rating, because my first flight has been cancelled by a different airline and that caused disruption in my trip. I spent over ten hours in Luton airport and that caused me high tiredness, sickness, because of the very early initial trip. easyJet staff has been professional and friendly.

Very pleasant crew, working hard on a full plane. Delay by a broken seat. However crew made back 60% of the delay.

Delayed and then further delayed with no announcement made so that all the passengers (who were standing in the jetty) could hear. We stood there for well over 20 minutes. We were further delayed through weather but no one explained that to us until the pilot made an announcement when finally on board

easyJet need to ensure that whether pre-booking seats or not children aren’t split from their parents the crew spent the majority of boarding asking passengers to move to accommodate two families. Surely the system identifies minors on a booking !!!!! It was all very frustrating to watch and caused delays which I’m sure cost easyJet more in the long run rather that automatically allocating families with minors seats together automatically.

Not great! Rude staff in London and the worse baggage reclaim I’ve ever seen. Great staff in flight but doubt I’ll fly with them again

Staff had been really impolite at the boarding area and for both ways charged high extra fees without a reason. For the check-in luggage which was measured 3.5 kg and was confirmed by the stuff to cost 40 € , 60 Euros had been purchased from our credit card. When confronted staff did call us both liars and claimed to never have announced anything. Flight back , when not wanting to press a backpack in a measuring metal instead of hand measuring , staff got angry that one did not follow her order, which was than escalated by the team. Although carrying a baby anyways staff did not offer any help in the unreasonable process and than charged again extra money. Cabine crew has been friendly but this experience LL lead to not booking easy jet at all in the future. Check in process in Edinburgh anyways chaotic,to the family check-in and disabled check-in everybody else was guided for check in process, so people just getting in between each other, not possible to monitor your own stuff.

As you would expect from a budget airline Left and arrived on time, no frills, not even a glass of water offered But you get what you pay for

I had an emergency escape seat. The attendant gave the extrA briefing to my side of the aisle but didnt direct it at all to the other where my wife was sitting

Boarding great. Didn’t eat or drink so can not comment.

Total jobs worths over carry on bags, charged £96 extra for bags that were clearly hand luggage

flight delayed, no information given until late on, Ryanair app said "on time" until 5 minutes before expected departure time, crew rushed us to board, when it was already 3 hours late

I got denied boarding bevause they said they "ran out of seats on a plane"

Speakers were blaring. It's like being in a Moroccan market and you keep getting shouted at with what's for sale

What can you say Ryanair get you there,no frills Not so cheap anymore ..... but what is now days! Would use again as always. Good flight times for us.

Very unpleasant staff, disgusting service, ignoring requests, refusal to help

Flight with Ryanair more than 1,5 hours are awful... No space between seats, absolutely uncomfortable stay.

Late again rude staff at gate bullying passengers made us stand in the cold 3degrees for 40 mins before they let us board

The usual average Ryanair flight, but we landed 20 min before due time, which was very good.

Enjoyed our flight with Ryanair to Arrecife. Flight boarded pretty much on time, crew were welcoming and very good. Generally good for a frequent low cost flight, Seats could however have been more comfortable.

I wouldn't like to fly with them anymore, I don't like their service, you can hardly take carry-on luggage because they charge you for everything, you can't ask for a glass of water, and the flight attendant tells you that they don't have any, that you have to Paying 3 euros for a bottle of water horrible, I don't recommend it, and they don't have anything low cost, because the plane ticket may not be expensive but what they charge you later for the rest, the flight becomes more expensive, it's the only airline that I don't like it so far, and I traveled a lot.

I would have preferred something lighter for the second meal. Maybe a small sandwich .

They cancelled our flight the morning of departure at 4:30am.

Flight bumpy but good. 1 hr 20 mins for luggage not so good.

We were told to check our bags at the last minute, and the communication was poor.

Lost our luggage in Heathrow. Showed up 3 days into a 7 day vacation. Very inconvenient and disappointing!!

My luggage never arrived to Zurich. They can't confirm when it will arrive

Late again. 3 out of 4 late. One cancelled flight and one lost bag.

Charged an extra 65 pounds for overweight suitcase, Not told how much overweight but had no choice but to pay the price. Compare to Delta Airlines where I flew internationally a few days before with this suitcase and no extra charge by Delta. Comfort was horrible. I am just under 6 feet tall, and good that the flight was only 1 1/2 hours, because my knees were in the seat back in front of me the whole flight. I felt that my knees were part way up to my chest. No reason to have the seats that close. I will say to the positive was the flight crew, very friendly and efficient.

The flight was delayed as they were waiting on catering. Catering. Was eventually delivered but they still had no food. No meals for us in business class - just a bag of nuts.

Our luggage is missing. We are at the Hotel Gran Via in Barcelona
