It was just fine. The sirlines did live up fully to my expectation.
While boarding at PVG, there was a ticket checking by the gate, then there was another ticket checking right at the bottom of the escalator, which created quite a dangerous congestion. Don't understand why the duplication?
I was traveling alone with an infant, so the crew was incredibly helpful. Both the international and subsequent domestic flights were impeccable.
The flight was delayed by 2 hours, although to their credit they delayed my connecting flight so people could reach it. Also their site is a nightmare to navigate on a phone. Everything else was good.
China Eastern as a member of Sky Alliance airlines should have the same standards overall of their partners, Besides the seats comforts everything else is bellow the standard for a business class travelers.
2 parts to the journey. First leg covered in a newer plane with decent staff + POOR FOOD QUALITY but the second half didn’t leave a positive impression at all as the plane itself was an older built and the crew didn’t serve properly. Language is an issue with China Eastern flights as always, but unmotivated crew just makes it even bad.
Small plane with only two lavatories at the back. You must have a good plan to use it before or after the meal, if you make a bad decision, you will end up with standing in front of the toilet for a while till the food carts empty. The good thing is even there’s a slightly delayed, the plane is still arriving on time which is superb!!
Cheapest option from Gatwick £400 cheaper than Emirates and Qatar. Entertainment no where near as good as Emirates and Qatar, but saved £400 so all good.
Gatwick London-Shanghai -Bangkok.. Would have liked entertainment screens, but I know these planes are not that new. Cheap flights at the time of booking, Emirates wanted double so you get what you paid for. I would fly again with them, but if Emirates was the same price I would go with them.
I will never fly through China again. Maybe it was the mandatory retinal scan just to transfer to another flight or the complete set of fingerprints they require. There are many better and inexpensive flights to Asia if you look.
The original flight was canceled and I had to reschudle for an earlier flight to make the connection to LAX. I had to stay in Pudong airport overnight. The flight was delayed again for an hour. The checkin process was longer than usually since it is a small airport and the staff was not experienced enough to checkin for international flights of multiple stops. The gentleman did not gave up and made multiple phone calls to figure out the process. I appreciate his effort very much.
The flight departure was delayed a bit but otherwise it was a smooth journey.

I was given a middle row seat and the plane was a small 737-800. Much too cramped for a full flight of over 5.5hours.
My two luggage issue during my trip from kansai osaka to Shanghai. 1st booked tickets online, a iliitle hard time to follow all questions when I booked tickets. I haven't selected 2 luggage so that Spring Airline of osaka crew charged $181 US Dollar with my 2 luggage fee. Also, crew member mentioned I maybe be able to get money some back because I should got differe rate, the rate of luggage should was matched with tickets I ordered from edreams. I did try to access edream at the day I was changing my boarding pass. Therefore, I hope Kayak if can help me getting some my luggage fees back, I will appreciate a lot. Thank you, Jie egusa
This is a terrible airline. Worst seats I’ve ever encountered. Avoid at all costs!
