Top tips for finding a cheap flight from London Heathrow Airport to Malawi

  • If you’re looking for cheap flights to Malawi from London, check out flying with Kenya Airways from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Lilongwe International Airport (LLW). Alternatively, Ethiopian Air operates a regular service from Heathrow to Blantyre Chileka International Airport (BLZ) at slightly higher rates.
  • US Dollars are widely accepted as currency in some parts of Malawi, so it’s worth making sure you have some of the local currency – the Malawian Kwacha – and US Dollars to hand. Just keep some US Dollars aside when leaving the country as each passenger has to pay a $30 (around £22) international departure tax at the airport.
  • For UK citizens flying to Malawi, you must hold a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after you arrive in the country. You also have to apply for a travel visa at origin before your travel dates. You can start your application by contacting the Malawi High Commission in London.
  • If you want to get to Heathrow Airport from central London, take advantage of the excellent service provided by the Heathrow Express Train. The journey only takes around 15min from Paddington Station, and you can buy your tickets online for as little as £5.50 if you book three months in advance.
  • If you are travelling with children, you can take advantage of the children’s play areas available at both London Heathrow and London Gatwick airports while you’re waiting for your flight to depart. Once you are through security, you can find them in the departure lounges of Terminals 2-5 at Heathrow and in Gatwick’s North and South Terminals.

It was really nice experience by flying this klm flight.I personally recommend everyone to please try this klm flight

Flight was on time, staff are friendly and helpful onboard.

Delay on my previous leg, had to run to catch my flight. But that happens. Overall ok.

Delay and had to run between flight to get my connection due to this delay but besides that the overall experience was ok. I arrived with just an hour of delay.

Over 1 Hr delay. No APU so no AC on ground. Plane was hot during boarding and then they closed the doors over 20 minutes before engine start so interior of plane was steamy hot and stuffy. Could have been helped by opening doors until ready to depart.

Short flight so it was okay. Nice crew, all very pleasant and professional. We were near the back in row 27 so just as we got our drinks, we started our descent so had to drink very quickly!

The baggage drop-off in Stuttgart is bad: after online check-in you cannot use the automated baggage drop off as indicated on the website. You can use the terminals but have to cue to 1 of three open and slowly working counters to drop the bags. took about 45 minutes wait time.

Our first flight was delayed so we missed our connecting flight. However it was easy to book a later flight on their app.

The service was great. However the lounge only gets passing grade

It was a good experience - too many times checking at the airport - every time had to remove shoes , belt , laptop etc. that was a bit of exaggerated. The seat had a sharp metal plate -- which torn into my jeans.

To the Ethiopian Airlines Customer Relations Team, I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent travel experience with Ethiopian Airlines on . Unfortunately, the level of service provided fell significantly short of the standards I expected from your airline. I would like to highlight the following serious issues encountered during the journey: • Cabin Condition and Hygiene: The aircraft cabin was notably poorly maintained. The seating area was dirty, and there was a persistent, unpleasant odor throughout the flight, which made the environment very uncomfortable for passengers. • Inadequate Service: The overall level of service provided by the staff was unsatisfactory and did not reflect a professional passenger experience. • Baggage Loss: Upon arrival, I was informed that my luggage was lost. This is particularly distressing as it has caused significant personal inconvenience and disruption to my schedule. As a frequent traveler, I value reliability and a clean cabin environment. I request that you investigate these matters immediately, provide an update on the status of my missing baggage, and outline how you intend to compensate for these failures in service. I look forward to your prompt response and a resolution to my lost luggage claim. Sincerely, Puguh

I will fly this going forward especially for ORD to EBB and the reverse.

We had a good flight experience with this airline despite reading many negative comments

Planes are good. However the entertainement system is slow. The headphones are of low quality and I could hardly hear a movie The movies lack subtitiles

Check in took over an hour because printer was not working. Attendant did not know how to give free layover Addis Ababa hotel vouchers or update frequent flyer number. After repeated attempts, got voucher emailed. However hotel wanted printed voucher hence more delay. Bus time from hotel back to airport was printed 4:50 hours, but hotel reception called at 3 pm saying bus will leave at 4 pm. Then hotel reception called again saying 4:15 pm. We rushed at 4:15 pm and bus was not ready until 4:40 pm. Many audio outlets were not working in planes.

It is nice and great but the houstees crew are all the way back arguing with customers and behavior issues same of the crew i saw that also all the trips were very much butter!

I have my baggage left either in Jeddah or Addis and undelivered to Abuja

Very terrible airline. The flights were delayed for long hours and the customer service is terrible. Never flying with Kenya Airways again.

there really needs to be more room with each seat for such a long flight.

They boarded backwards so our zone meant nothing!!! My TV was broken, the remote was broke, the head set jack was broke! So i was stuck for 15 hours with no form of entertainment!!! The service was ok but they didn't check on us or serve many snacks. They acted like you were a burden when you hit the call button.

The plane was delayed almost three hours because boarding was unorganized then we were delayed even longer because the plane had an issue. The plane didn't look well maintained, there was also alot of tape on the exterior. I won't fly kenya air ways again after this trip.

Sadly, flights were delayed both ways with no reasons given other than " operational".

The crew was good but the entertainment was poor . All old movies and TV shows and very few of them. Needs current entertainment. Seats too firm. Food just ok. Nice though to have option with upgrade of no one sitting in middle seat

I purchased the upgrade to have 3 seats open, so I was able to sleep 9 hours. Without that I would have been miserable

Our luggage was supposed to be checked through from Arusha to Cape Town. We didn't know that it was a self transfer in Johannisburg. Kayak should not have sold this flight combination with out a self transfer alert.

There was chaos checking because of a canceled flight the day prior. Also, we had an issue with tickets. The KQ agent went above a d beyond to help us get on board the flight Overall the 13+ hour flight is uncomfortable in coach. I may try to upgrade on return

For a long haul flight, the seats were too narrow. Paid for extra legroom but wish I could have paid for width! I was pressed against another person for the whole donation of the flight.
