FAQs - booking Bolivia flights

  • Which London airport is the most convenient?

London's airports are all very modern travel hubs with plenty of facilities, so make your choice based on which part of London (or England) you're coming from. Stansted Airport is the best choice if you're to the north of the capital, while Gatwick is the one to choose if you're coming from the south. Heathrow lies on London's western outskirts, making it the most convenient if you're travelling from the general Wessex region. You can also fly out from London City Airport (LCY), which is slightly to the east of Central London.

  • How can I reduce my carbon footprint on flights to Bolivia?

Flying from Heathrow, you can choose a two-stop combination flight with KLM and LATAM Airlines to save around 30% in carbon emissions. If you leave from Gatwick Airport you can save about 25% by booking a British Airlines/Iberia flight, an easyJet/Air Europa flight or with Iberia/BoA. From Stansted Airport, Ryanair/Air Europa emits about 25% less CO2 on this route too. There is also a SWISS/BoA flight departing from London City Airport that reduces emissions by about 30%.

  • How do I get from Bolivian airports to the city centres?

Flights from London to Bolivia either land at Santa Cruz de la Sierra Viru Viru International Airport, or at El Alto International in La Paz. To get to downtown La Paz from the airport, catch the Line 212 bus for a trip of about 40 minutes. If you've hired a car, it's only about a 10-minute journey. After landing at Viru Viru Airport, you can take the Line 135 bus to central Santa Cruz, which will take about 35 minutes. It's about a 25-minute drive from the airport to the city centre.

  • Which Bolivian airport should I choose as my destination?

Santa Cruz is the largest city in Bolivia, situated roughly in the centre of the country, so it's the most conveniently situated to explore the rest of the country. It also has a wealth of tourist landmarks. It's also the closest to the natural attractions in the hinterland, like Gran Chaco Kaa-lya National Park. La Paz is the country's capital, lying to the west. This allows you to more easily reach other major Bolivian cities like Cochabamba and the Oruro department region.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from London to Bolivia?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from London to Bolivia.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from London to Bolivia?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight from London to Bolivia is likely to change within 7 days, so travellers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from London to Bolivia?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional return ticket. You could then fly from London to Bolivia with an airline and back with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from London to Bolivia?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying from London to Bolivia up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

  • What is the cheapest time of day to fly to Bolivia?

On average, there is no price difference when choosing to fly in the morning or the evening on this flight route. The most expensive time of day to fly to Bolivia is generally in the evening, which is peak travel time and where the average cost of a ticket is £1,673.

Top tips for finding a cheap flight from London to Bolivia

  • London to Bolivia is a long-haul flight, with many trips taking close to 24 hours. You can reduce your travel time by booking with Iberia out of Heathrow Airport (LHR). These are the shortest flights, at roughly 15-16 hours.
  • As a British national you don't need a visa to enter Bolivia. You can stay in the country for up to 30 days at a time and extend this to 60 days if you need to. Simply go to one of the immigration offices to apply for this while you're there.
  • Santa Cruz Viru Viru Airport (VVI) is the home base for Bolivia's largest airline, Boliviana de Avación (BoA). Landing here will allow you to easily catch connecting flights to many other domestic airports in the country.
  • When travelling as a family with children, rather choose Heathrow (LHR) or Gatwick (LGW) as your London departure airport. These are larger than the others, with supervised children's play facilities that will really help you to relax while you wait for your flight.
  • If you fly to La Paz El Alto Airport (LPB) you'll have the distinction of landing at the highest airport in the world, near the famous Lake Titicaca in the lofty Andes mountain range.

I never got this flight. You sent me to Chile!!! And from Chile I got the other flight to São Paulo... I've arrived 7h latter than I was supposed to arrive because of Delta delays.

It’s a delta flight operated by LATAM. The whole ticket sale is a mess, delta changed my flight but didn’t update it in LATAM system, I couldn’t get my boarding pass, it took me hours to resolve this issue with delta. I had to change my travel plan. No apology from Delta even though it’s their fault.

Boarding was done by woman who insisted on strict standing in line policy; food was ok; entertainment minimal

entertainment was not good; the shoulder strap on Business class seat did not sit well across the body (more like across the neck); the food was not hot and the special meal promoted by insert in the menu was not available to us

The boarding and new bag drop-off process was confusing and causing massive delays.

I was in the last row and they sent me to check in my luggage last minute after boarding. I had to go through the crowd.

Our flight was cancelled and it took them 5 hours to reschedule and the next morning they said we still didn’t have a new ticket.

I travel often with LATAM, it never disappoints me. The service is great, nice crew, latest and some classic movies. I got 3 small meals, cannot complaint. I’ll definitely travel again with them.

We departed and landed on time, the aircraft was clean and comfortable, the crew were lovely. Online checkin worked well and the self service bag drop at the airport worked well. The a/c was an Airbus A330 and has been fitted with a good entertainment system with lots of choice in many languages. The price I paid for the flight was competitive with other airlines apart from the budget carriers, none of whom I was familiar with so I stuck to an airline I have used in previous visits to South America.

We didn’t have any entertainment. I tried to go online without success. The airplane was extremely cold and they didn’t have blankets.

Great experience. The flight was smooth with very little turbulence. We were in premium classic, so lots of leg room.

Didn’t know you had to pay for earbuds and food on flight. Sounds awesome and better way to not waste food or items. Comfort of flight is was amazing other than that

Unexpectedly was surprised with the space on flight in economy and the price.

I was not expecting having to pay for headphones, water and basic food in a 9 hours flight. Price for this flight was as high as any other, still I had to pay 4 lbs for a can of sprite. On top of that flight attendance gave a bothered look when I asked her for some ice for my soda. She reluctantly when to get it, brought me literally 3 cubes and walked away without looking at me to avoid another request. I couldn’t believe it. She was soooo rude. I will never book on Norse again and I will let everyone I know about this. Unforgivable, very bad customer service.

Great crew. Customer support is pretty much non existent. I had 2 tickets that were not used, the flight was overbooked. I think I should have been reimbursed for the unused tickets.

The movies were super old. The crew did not offer WATER???? 5 hours os flight and did not get WATER? Norse is the worst company I ever used and never will use again.

Why call us to board if we’re going to be made to stand in the tunnel for 20 minutes. Really hard for people with little children. Plus it took me ages to check in because my seat in Premium was overbooked so I didn’t actually have a seat. I did end up receiving my seat in Premium but there was a lot of stress and confusion beforehand. Hope is it possible to overbook seats? Especially in Premium!

We flew one way from Gatwick, London to JFK NY For 2 people $1200 and no food offered not even water. You had to buy food. Norse advertises as a low fare transatlantic airline, they may want rethink that. Crew, flight was fine. Ironically we flew American from JFK to Heathrow for $1000 (2people) and included food and drinks.

Longest check in line I have ever seen- brutal and airline personnel hustled me about the size of my bag even though I showed them that it measured exactly to the measurements posted on their site. Just super annoying- I get it - it’s a budget airline and you get what you pay for. Most of the flight were young people who seemed to have never experienced international travel. It’s worth paying for a seat otherwise you will be uncomfortable.

We flew premium on the way TO London but went back to economy for this flight. The differences I note here may be colored by changing service. The crew was professional and polite but cold on this flight and class of service. They seemed to want to have as little to do with us as possible, beyond providing the basic services in economy. The aircraft was still good though, and the pitch was about as tight as expected - manageable but no extra personal space to spare. Overall I would certainly fly Norse Atlantic again, given the opportunity.

Everything should improve! Service like a low cost but prices like a premium airline. Crew in general with bad manners arguing for everything. You pay for priority access but then they use buses, so your loose your advantage to put your carry on first. That was the purpose for paying for priority. Bording is a nightmare, people accessing the plane for bothering doors, front and rear, no matter which line do you have.

Issues with plane led to multiple gate changes and chaos. Very little communication from the ground crew led to cranky passengers.

I flew business class, at breakfast I asked for a small bottle of olive oil instead of butter and the flight attendant responded with a negative gesture.

They didn't even give us water, everything was sold

They should at least offer water like other airlines, which seems like a humanitarian gesture to me

They gave me an upgrade but charged me for my bag. I felt abused because this had never happened to me before with an upgrade with another airline.

Well. It is a no frills airline. Annoying is that even for the long-haul everything has to be paid for separately. Once you add up the extras the flight is getting to expensive. Then one might as well fly with a legacy carrier which provides far better comfort. Changing flight at MAD airport is a nightmare. The worst airport in the world. Poor signposting, poor passport control, poor security check and long queues. I had 2h transfer time and spend in queues almost 1.5h

All flights with Air Europa you arrive late to the connections of other flights, I missed my train, I had to pay for my train again, the crew are antisocial, you are paying for a service, it is not free, thanks to the travelers they are there, it is the last time I fly with them,

Terrible experience - we won’t be flying with Air Europa again

The crew was not kind , just doing their job but very cold people

Do Not Fly Iberia. Horrible experience. Iberia changes things at random -like the date of the flight and seat you have bought. After buying my flight, they contacted me and told me I had to return a day later. Then when I was boarding the flight, I discovered they had changed my window seat in a row away from the wing, to an aisle seat in front of the toilet! The worse seat on the plane. But it wasn’t just me- a family was scattered all over the plane. I was able to trade my seat because a father was separated from his son. Unfortunately the seat was the window seat directly over the wing, the loudest seat in the plane. I couldn’t sleep, even with noise cancelling earphones. Also, I ordered gluten free meal-which was tasteless and gave me cramps.

I described my experience in the previous window. I didn't realize that there would be another opportunity for this flight. Please look at my response in the previous window.

I have nothing but great things to say about the crew of the American Airlines flight from Madrid to Dallas. They were fantastic! I do, however, have some disregard for the flight attendant that was late in Dallas, causing us to further delay the boarding of our flight to Portland, and leading to the eventual cancellation of that flight. Because that crew-member was so late, we got caught-up in a weather-related ground stop, eventually causing our pilots to "time-out". So we couldn't get out of Dallas. We would have departed DFW on-time (and before the arrival of the thunderstorm) if not for the lateness of that crew member. The whole time the pilots couldn't tell us whether the flight would be cancelled, and that they couldn't get any information from the airline. By the time we knew the flight was cancelled, all of the flights for the following day were full. So, we didn't even get offered a viable option to get home. The American Airlines customer service desk at DFW was grossly under-staffed. And there were several people who waited in line for four-hours before being helped at that desk. We waited in line for almost 2-hours, until I was able to speak with a customer service agent on the phone (after being on-hold for over an hour). So, once we knew the information about how to get our bag in PDX, and that there weren't any options for flights the next day, we left the line & began searching for another way home. We eventually had to purchase a ticket home on a different airline, in order to get my wife to work on Monday. And we are pursuing a refund of that DFW-PDX leg of the journey. The good news is that the late flight attendant's hair was perfect. And she looked fantastic as she departed the airport & headed back home, while we all hunkered down to sleep in the terminal for the night.

Chair is very high. Your feet cannot touch the ground for 8 hours flight. It was a nightmare. Food was bad.

They need to start flying on time. We lost 2 days of our time because they delayed flight both ways.

Luggage arrived damaged and protective plastic was lost. I need customer service to contact me or the number for customer service. Thanks.

This ticket was canceled and I did not find out until it was time to check in. I believe the vendor is at fault. Cheap tickets.com I would like to elaborate on the situation to kayak. Can you give me an email address?

I was in business class for the 8 hour flight where: 1. The WiFi did not work 2. The entertainment system did not work 3. We were told there were no hot drinks for the entire flight

Charging $300 to be able to pick a seat next to your wife was nothing less than extortion.

The flight was delayed twice. When the crew explained about the debris causing flat tires, I was glad they took the time to change all four.

No food, terms when selling are not clear. To pricy for the service in general

It was horrible. My experience with Avianca. I didn’t know it was Pakistan international Airlines but anyway, whatever it is it is bad horrible you guys need to upgrade everything in those planes. And you guys charge $130 for a carry-on did they wanna let me in with my carry-on that I travel everywhere with the luggage you guys are such a dog thank you

Boarding was excessively slow. They do it by groups in a way that it doesn’t make sense. After business class , ppl that need assistance and any other priority group they should have ppl board from the back to the front. First rows 20+. Then 15+. Then 10, etc. having ppl sitting in the back board last makes no sense. The libe backame long as soon as ppl on rows 10 or so where told to board. The line went all the way up the ramp and tunnel for 25 mins.

Seats are very tight even in Plus, no complimentary snacks or beverage

The chicken that was served in business class was cold!

Late departure. When the flight arrived in Medellin the plane sat at the gate for 20 minutes waiting for a bus for us to get off the plane.

I receive a service for what I pay, so it is fair.

Terrible, We had to stay in Bogota for two days due to weather but the airline did not provide for the same day flight. Only two days later

Purchased a business class ticket and got a economy seat with center seat blocked they call it business. 3100usd ticket on a flight where economy costs 500usd The biggest scam insult have had on a regular airline. Avianca should be in the low cost category and kicked out of Star Alliance. I want the difference to be credited. Ets see what Avianca does. No reply so far. Avianca = low cost airline. Beware

Business class seats did not lie flat. There was only powdered milk for your coffee....in Business Class!! Food was good.
