KAYAK’s top tips for finding a cheap flight from London to Kathmandu

  • Tribhuvan International Airport is the only airport operating international flights within the whole of Nepal. Flights from London to Kathmandu will touch down at Tribhuvan International Airport, and the majority of flights depart from London Heathrow and Gatwick. There are no direct flights operating from London to Kathmandu, so flight time can vary widely depending on layovers.
  • Tribhuvan International airport lies about 3 miles from Kathmandu city centre, and there are a few transit options to get you there from the terminal. The budget option for city centre arrival is Sajha Yatayat, the city’s public bus system. A fare from Tribhuvan Airport to the Kathmandu city centre will cost you around Rs 20 (£0.15).
  • If you’re not feeling up to taking on Nepalese public transport, taxis can be taken into the city centre after your flight from London to Kathmandu for a reasonable price. Beware of taxi drivers offering rides without displayed prices and choose either pre-hired taxis that have been arranged through your hotel or taxis with displayed pricing for the best deal.
  • For weary travellers looking for some peace and quiet before the departure of their return flights or the flights to their next destinations, access to the Tribhuvan International Airport’s CIP Lounge can be purchased for around Rs 450 (£3.15) per hour. This airport lounge area isn’t equipped with the bells and whistles you’ll find in more modern airports, but there is a selection of snacks and beverages.
  • Airport shopping options are limited at Tribhuvan International Airport. With that said, if you’ve forgotten to pick up a trinket for your friends or family during your time in Nepal, handcrafted souvenirs and other small items can be purchased from one of the few shops in the international terminal building.
  • To avoid waiting in line at London Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW) and Stansted airports (STN), book a Fast Track security pass to enjoy access to a dedicated lane so you can breeze through the security checks. Upgrade your airport experience and purchase your Premium Pass online in advance or at the airport on your day of travel.
  • Start your trip in style and relax at the Premium Airport Lounges at Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports before you depart. Enjoy complimentary food and drinks with excellent runway views or find a quiet space to catch up work. Travellers can also book a chair or table massage at the Be Relax Spa in Terminal 5 of Heathrow Airport.
  • Contact your airline at least 48 hours before departure if you require extra assistance at the airport or onboard the aircraft. A wide range of accessible facilities are available at Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports, including accessible toilets, Changing Places and Staxi Chairs. If you require help with airport shopping, you can reserve the Assisted Shopping Service and airport porters can assist you with your luggage for a small fee.

I liked the newer aircraft CRJ-550 since it had WIFI and the seats are more spacious.

Fly Dubai takes low cost and thrift to new depths in terms of service levels, terminal 2 is grossly inadequate for capacity and resembles a crowded buss or railway station,, the fly dubai( Emirates) flight is never on time(was 2.5 hrs delayed), and this is not an isolated experience, the flght air conditioning was turned low while we waited on the tarmac for take clearance to save fuel, should say more!!!! The depths! I only fly this airline from a compulsion, emirates code shares for connections to Muscat

The main issue was that the flight from trivandrum to Dubai was delayed which resulted in arriving late in Dubai. Coincidentally the flight leaving out of Dubai to jfk was also delayed for different reason. Despite we reached the gate ( through wheel chair assistance) along with 10 other passengers we were not let in. The gate was open and yet was refrained from entering. We were then requested to flight the next morning. Meal vouchers were provided but the hotel reservations were not made and took a lot longer to receive that. If Emirates knew about the delay and was certain the passengers will not be able to board the next flight shouldn't they have prepared these ahead of time?

The journey was nice, all the crews were very good and services are excellent

Great flight - Clubhouse met our needs, and the staff provided good service. Boarding felt a little chaotic, but given the size of the aircraft, it's always going to be challenging. Whilst the crew were friendly, the number of passengers meant that we received our breakfast items, but had finished breakfast before we were served a drink. Lunch was much better organised, and throughout the flight, the crew were attentive. Found the seats and ICE to be excellent. Disembarkation was fine, and everything possible to expedite the process was being done.

We loved flying with Emirates in business class, the staff were fabulous, going above & beyond

One of the female staff from the cabin crew, forgot to ask us about what we want to drink and focused more on other specific people rather than treating everyone politely. I asked her about the drinks to which she said oh I forgot.

They should resume the fast track for business / first class passengers

They cancelled our flight, rebooked, cancelled that one. We are now flying New Zealand Air and need a refund please. How do we get it?

Wifi was not operational for the whole trip. Other than this, flight was well received .

Charged extra amount for the baggage wait. Even it’s less than 23kgs. Those machines are showing wrong weight and they were charging money wantedly from everyone.

Friendly and discreet staff. Could have done with a few more offers of water/snacks overnight. Movie and tv selection notably poor. Seats not especially comfortable

I appreciated the vailability of wheelchair services for persons with mobility issues all the way up to the aircraft. What could be better would be the food choices.

The flight was operated by IndiGo and not Qatar, which is a budget airline from India. Nevertheless, the flight was uneventful.

I prebooked a comfort plus seat on this flight and therefore the flight was comfy. I got the correct seat in the correct section of the plane that I have booked, that's this. Flight was comfortable. Staff were average on the flight, appearing to be rushed and short in engagement with travellers, perhaps this to maximise there rest time on the flight.

Terrible experience resolving missed connection after flight was delayed. 3 hour queue at transit desk, not enough staff, no organisation, worst ever flying experience.

The Achilles heel of the experience with Qatar Airways is the Doha Airport, especially for travellers arriving into Doha and not transiting. This airport suffers from being ambitiously big and the immigration into Qatar being overly time taking. At the end of my particular flight in which my travel was ending in Doha, the plane parked at a very remote terminal, from where it took me 30 minutes to arrive just at the immigration counter, with fast paced walking and the time on a train inside the airport. Then, at the immigration counter it takes up to a minute or more to process each tourist visitor, due to time taking face and finger scanning processes and langugage barriers if there are questions or information to be exchanged verbally with the officers. If several planes have landed at the same time, it is not unusual that one has to wait 45 to 60 minutes in the immigration queue. In short, the frustration of arriving at Doha takes away all positive vibe of the airline, as the airline and the airport are heavily intertwined and are marketed together.

It was ok, not much more can be said, as long as airlines/aircraft manufacturers insist on cramming in as many seats as possible....best of a bad situations, seats are simply too uncomfortable to sit in for more than a few hours. Lack of flexible headrests not a help on long overnight flights either.

I recently travelled with Qatar Airways from Doha to Dulles in the QSuite, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The QSuite truly feels like a First-Class experience, with its luxurious design, privacy, and comfort. The cabin crew, especially the lady in charge of the cabin, was remarkable—professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. The food was excellent, and the comfort of the seat was absolutely first-class, making the journey smooth and enjoyable. While the in-flight experience was outstanding, I have a few points of feedback. Firstly, the content available in the in-flight entertainment system could be expanded and upgraded to include a more diverse and updated collection. This would elevate the entertainment experience to match the premium standards of the QSuite. Secondly, regarding the Wi-Fi service: while QSuite passengers receive one hour of complimentary Wi-Fi, any additional usage requires a fee of USD 10. Considering the premium pricing of QSuite, it would be more fitting to include unlimited Wi-Fi as part of the experience, further enhancing the luxury offered to passengers. Lastly, I must highlight an issue with luggage handling. Unfortunately, my luggage did not make it through the transit, which was disappointing. While the ground crew assured me that it would be delivered to my home on the same day as it was arriving on the next flight, this promise was not fulfilled, and the delay added unnecessary inconvenience to an otherwise excellent experience. Overall, the QSuite experience was exceptional, but addressing these areas would further solidify Qatar Airways’ position as a leader in luxury air travel.

My experience with Qatar airway was very unsatisfactory. They lost my child’s stroller and I was told they found it and will send it to the hotel which was a lie. I had to go back to the airport baggage claim and pick up myself after trying to contact them many times!. There was a lack professional and communication. I am very disappointed in Qatar airway and will not be recommending them to friends and family nor will I be flying with them in the future.

The staff at the boarding or the rudest uninformative and no English whatsoever they’re very rude as if they are envious of you travelling I don’t understand how could someone would be this rude and this out of touch and cold

Requested food items were always finished but the available food was warm and tasted good Good entertainment options.

To be prepared for being treated with disrespect by the ground crew.

Awful seating. Bad food. Staff only have one bottle of water and no cans.

I already checked in online and provided with a window seat by default which was OK with me. When I printed the pass at the airport, I found that the seat number was different (aisle but in same row). By that time, all window seats were taken up, I am surprised that TK can unilaterally change seats after completed online checkin.

Boarding experience was a mess- both to and from Istanbul airport. No one knew anything. They asked everyone to line up according to their sit numbers- it was unbelievable. Business class had a separate line, but it was hard to find- I had to go through all that mess before finding it. Would not recommend

Worst experience with boarding once we left the wheel chair even traveling business we had to wait with all the crowd for the bus to take us to the plane then climb the stairs with our bags When you pay extra for comfort and convenience and you don’t get any is disappointing

I liked the overall flight experience. However, Turkish officials could do a better job at guiding non-Turkish speakers to their connecting flight gates in such a huge & vast airport.

Staff friendly. Business class but issue with flat bed. Incoming Turkish flight delayed. Made connection due to fast buggy but luggage did not make it. Confusion at Delhi airport

my experience was great with Turkish airlines . the problem i encountered was with kayak booking. When I booked . it showed that im allowed a bag . and when I got to the airport, i had to pay $165 for one bag.

The onboarding was extremely confusing. Had to climb the stairs to plan from tarmac with carryon bags in hand. No apologies for inconvenience. Overall not quite pleasant experience.

Boarding /lounge :Chaotic boarding , business /first class had a dedicated line but it was upto to the passenger to figure out and use those lines .Oasis lounge is clean but tiny so it felt over crowded . Neither the food nor amenities felt business/first class . Cabin and tech : 2-2-2 configuration needs to go . Leg space is cramped , headsets didn’t work . WIFI does exist or didn’t work on the entire 20 hour journey . Food and crew : Preordered “Hindu Non vegetarian” meal , crew was clueless , they didn’t even bother to ask if they weren’t sure what that meant . Served mediocre vegetarian food though menu had chicken /lamb options . In short , worst business class experience of all the airlines I flew to date . Not sure if there is one area they compete in let alone excel … avoid if you can .

Food was not available in the middle of the trip that is 13 hours

Everything was good and no points to complain. Food is always a tricky concept. Sometimes you like it and sometimes you don’t. Food was redundant from Kuwait City to NY-JFK.

Beautiful Flight took off on time and everything was good

Next time im going to use Kuwait air lines, hopefully

Comfortable seats. Be aware there is no alcohol on this airline.

Seats were comfortable. Be aware there is no alcohol on this airline.

Every thing was very food except the meal. It was a sandwich of something like a beef kebab. It was really bad in terms of hardness as well as taste. We were a family of 7 persons non of us could eat it his sandwich. Cake was good.

It was very nice flight only suggestions to upload recent videos and English subtitles. Thanks

The flight was on time, the entire experience was very smooth. The Flight crew were incredibly professional and nice. Made us feel very comfortable

Bad weather in Amritsar cancelled the flight while we were at the gate in Delhi but the ground crew took good care of us and exceeded our expectations. Once on the plane, we enjoyed the best experience we’ve had on any flight in years. Their customer support was also impressively quick to answer and immediately helpful.

Unnecessary delays & Gate changes, so much inconvenience after 15-16 hours flight

Food was below par Quality and None of the Entertainment systems were Working ..and we were unable to turn it off.. Due to the glare we couldn't even sleep for the entire duration of the flight ..

Flight was delayed in phases from 84ppm to 2am. And at 2am it was cancelled. Only refund option provided and no stay was provided. Poor communication throughout and shameless behaviour from the airline with no regard for seniors citizens and those travelling with children.

Horrible flight. No entertainment or WiFi for a 14-hour flight. No explanations either. I’ll never fly Air India again.

Aircraft condition poor, no inflight entertainment, broken seats, seats worn, split armrests, flat seat cushions and seat would recline. Aircraft needs refitting completely!

Several seats in business class were broken. Some would not recline, others had other problems. They need to really update the seats and AV.

We had extra baggage which is an ordinary event. The check-in counter experience for them to calculate the additional amount owed and collect payment was terrible - very manual, multiple counters to resolve, took more than 30 minutes

only passenger seats are too much narrow. It’s not comfortable otherwise it’s good. Seats are very important because it’s main in Travel
