For being about to be on a 17 HOUR FLIGHT we should be ALLOWED to have our carry ons with us! We take carry ons for that reason! I had to argue and prove my case to the crew member to atleast keep 1 carry on with us. I thought that was an UNACCEPTABLE reason for us to check in a carry on luggage when we had a 17 hour travel time ahead of us. Not a happy costumer here."

Needless to say, there was nothing else suspicious about me once the watch was removed. Eager to exercise her power, the security person did not seem to consider that she slowed down a long line of people waiting to be screened. I should add that I am 73 yrs old grey haired female who has traveled a lot both for pleasure and business during my entire life, often to some difficult places and that I do not argue with or provoke those in power in a situation like this. The yelling and the sending me repeatedly through the scanner, which did not beep once the watch was removed, was beyond anything I had experienced anywhere else. The sending me to the very end of the line seemed outright spiteful. (I did miss the plane connection.)"

I have never had a flight attendant force herself into a bathroom and invade someone's privacy. It was beyond rude and inappropriate. Cons: "Cabin crew was largely absent. The seats were small and there was no legroom. The food was mediocre, but edible. Alcoholic drinks were limited to a red wine, a white wine, and beer, none of which were good.The bathrooms were quite dirty, though that is more a reflection of the passengers than of the crew."
Pros: "The crew was pleasant and the flight itself was about as good as you can expect."
Cons: "Everything apart from the flight was terrible. Customer service is a nightmare to reach. You have to push a button every 30 seconds to indicate you want to remain on hold. I had a long layover and they put us in a dump of a hotel too far from the airport to get back by myself, with no staff able to communicate with any English, no working internet, and not even a map. I had wanted to visit a nearby city and instead had to spend 19 hours in a bad hotel. They also confiscated my external battery from my checked luggage (my fault) but have provided no way for me to get it back unless I'm in China."

Cons: "The Boarding gate area is very crowded. Need to get on a Bus which is over loaded and very uncomfortable. Can't use mobile phones to play games even though in flight mode (Chinese regulations) but very boring given the quality of the entertainment. Volume of entertainment is not high enough to be heard over plane noise. Makes it almost impossible to hear (I have flown on China Southern about 8 times and in 6/8 times this has happened)"
Pros: "The A319 had far more room than I'm used to in coach. Crew was pleasant. Dining was very rushed in this under-2-hour flight."
Cons: "Something to be aware of: It's the People's Republic of China. They tell you this in the announcements. You're not supposed to use your cell phone at all in flight, even in airplane mode. Some government inspectors went through my checked suitcase and removed a lithium power pack and left me a note."
Cons: "We got inside to the checkin desk finally after waiting in horrible traffic and lines just to get into the airport. The checkin staff had already left the desk with 1 hr and 10 minutes before the flight. The guy at the information desk came to verify. After making a scene the police/security finally agreed to get someone on the radio. They refused to come back to get us and we were not allowed to go through security. We were told to go to an office in another building but the door was locked, no one home. We continue to fight but couldn't get any progress, missed our flight and ended up spending 10 hours in that airport and then having to wait an extra 10 in China for our missed connection. We went to the office. They refused to help us. Made us pay cash, couldn't take credit card, had to take out 3 different withdrawls, couldn't rebook us, had to call a downtown office. And basically said we were liars and we weren't there on time. Even though they only had the 2 employees working the entire airport for this airline. Still no power in the seats, no wifi, ended up missing an entire day plus the travel day that I was meant to be working. Travel insurance wouldn't cover because it wasn't a "strike" I don't know what else you call it when someone decides not to do their job."

Then all legs of the trip were suddenly booked, but seats were not confirmed. I was charged a $450 cancellation fee despite the fact that they did not do their job because I was unable to trust anything they were doing, and subsequently booked my flight direct through Delta. Please keep in mind I purchased the ticket on July 3, 2016 and Airfare.com was unable to provide me a complete ticket until the night of August 16, 2016 with a August 17, 2016 departure date to China! I can honestly say this was the worst travel booking experience I've ever had."
Pros: "Food - Free dinners even for economy class. Entertainment - Every seat has a TV that offers multiple languages and tons of blockbuster movies from a variety of genres. They also offer many television shows in multiple languages and genres and video games. Roomy- The seats are as non-roomy as any airplane. However, the flight attendants don't give you any trouble when you want to just get up and walk around and talk to people. It gives the plane a roomy atmosphere. You can go to spacier sections of the plane to hang out."

We were travelling as 2 friends, I was booked on one flight and my travelling companion on another 15 hours later! This only got changed when we explained that we both only had hand luggage! To then board the flight and sit on the tarmac, engines running, simply waiting, no explanations again!! Will we ever fly China Airways again?? If we could exchange our return flight tickets to that of another Star Alliance member we would."

During dinner service I asked for a second glass of wine with my meal but was refused as only 1 glass of beer or wine is allowed per passenger and flight, which I found very stingy as an airline and irritating from a customer care perspective."

But airline could have managed expectations better by giving notice to customers what will happen next, customers will be more forgiving that way."

If you are not a Chinese resident, you are out of luck!!! Americans be warned: Fly Air China and be treated a second class passengers!"

Extremely easy to lose important things. They confiscate all spare batteries if they only appear to be high power range regardless of what the actual voltage is."

For now, never again on any Chinese airlines. Taiwanese airlines provide much better service."

Flight was late leaving Beijing, just as it was when i was there 12 days before waiting for another flight one of their flights to Manila and missed my connection flight in Vancouver because of it.
