FAQs - booking Queensland flights

  • I’m looking for a flight to Hamilton Island. Which airports should I choose?

Your initial flight from the United Kingdom will depart either from Manchester Airport (MAN) or London Heathrow (LHR), so if you’re flying from elsewhere you’ll need to plan for an extra flight or alternative method of transport to one of these airports. From Manchester and London, you can fly to either Brisbane Airport or Cairns Airport with a stopover in an Asian city. Hong Kong is typically one of the most popular destinations for a stopover. From Brisbane or Cairns, you’ll have to catch a domestic flight to Hamilton Island Airport (HTI), which is operated by local airline Qantas Airways.

  • Which airport in Queensland is the closest to Port Douglas?

Port Douglas isn’t served by its own airport, but the closest is Cairns Airport, around a 50min drive away. Although you can opt to rent a car and drive yourself, after a long flight to Queensland it might be more comfortable to book a private transfer in advance.

  • I’m booking a flight to Queensland to visit the Outback. Which airports do I choose?

It depends on which one of the five main towns in the Outback Queensland area you are planning to visit. Each one of them has its own regional airport with regular flights from Brisbane. Those airports are Charleville Airport (CTA), Mount Isa Airport (ISA), Birdsville Airport (BVI), Blackall Airport (BKQ), and Longreach Airport (LRE). Mount Isa also has regular flights from Cairns operated by local carriers QantasLink and Regional Express Airlines.

  • Which airport in Queensland is the best for travelling to Coolangatta?

Coolangatta is served by the Gold Coast Airport, less than 5min away by car. This airport is a hub for Jetstar Airways, which operates regular flights from London via Tokyo. If you don't mind an extra stopover, Air France also operates flights from London with a first stopover in Paris and the second stopover in Tokyo.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from the United Kingdom to Queensland?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from the United Kingdom to Queensland.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from the United Kingdom to Queensland?

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from the United Kingdom to Queensland?

Great flight - Clubhouse met our needs, and the staff provided good service. Boarding felt a little chaotic, but given the size of the aircraft, it's always going to be challenging. Whilst the crew were friendly, the number of passengers meant that we received our breakfast items, but had finished breakfast before we were served a drink. Lunch was much better organised, and throughout the flight, the crew were attentive. Found the seats and ICE to be excellent. Disembarkation was fine, and everything possible to expedite the process was being done.

We boarded but due to a technical issue we spent 4.5hrs on the ground waiting for the issue to be resolved

Wonderful Premium Economy experience. Felt as good as Business Class for food and entertainment. Comfortable sleeping too

No kids provided. Instead we were told to have contacted the airline that we have kids and require kids meals. We were not the only ones who inquired about kids meals. It’s odd. Emirates and other airlines give kids meals as standard and before the adult food comes out. The rice in our meals was gluggy and under cooked. The chicken was also raw. Sadly not the best experience with Finn Air. The hostesses tried to compensate with the snacks and drinks but missed the mark by a long way. Especially when paying Emirates/Qantas prices

the seat is quite narrow compared to others. entertainment and food were very good

Sadly I couldn't get the food I requested as it was out. Also, if you don't want to be woken up make sure the crew knows it. My wife was woken on every service.

Can’t complain Only downside was the Kiosk passport check and customs clearance at Melbourne. When will they improve that service🤔

We loved flying with Emirates in business class, the staff were fabulous, going above & beyond

Very pleasant. The crews are very helpful.Food are very good.

The seating is spaced out nicely, The crew could have offer more drinks.

SQ service is great as always. However, the food quality seems to have gotten a lot worse recently.

The consistency with Singapore Airlines is fantastic. Crew are always brilliant and food delicious in business class

Wish the underseat compartment don’t have a restriction, can fit a personal item such as backpack fully like most Boeing

Service was top notch and the attention to passengers is great. Takeoff and landing was on schedule. Food selection is good

I have difficulties to book wheelchair for my parents returned flight

The business class seats were very uncomfortable. When in lie flat position my legs were very restricted.

Crew and service excellent. 2 hour delay for takeoff. SQ app showed flight on time.

We were not given option for meals since they ran out of the other option but good thing the remaining options tasted great.

Horrendous. We upgraded and they took the money but cancelled one of our tickets. The recline action didn’t work on the seats for the flight from Singapore to London, pre booked meals but they seemed to have disappeared as well.. Phone customer service was horrendous. Took 5 phone calls and no fix. Craig at the airport was the only one who seemed to be able to get the ticket back.

The seat in economy class and legroom in Singapore airline are narrower than Korean airlines! I don’t have that comforting feeling flying with Singapore air as in the past!

It's basically 15 hours with an airline in economy class. There's really not much of anything that could have been done better unless I had a first class ticket. Cathay Pacific does excellent work, with a very professional, friendly and attentive crew. It's literally the only airline that I will fly to Southeast Asia.

Well- trained, cheerful onboard staff. Business class seating and storage were excellent. Outstanding range of food choices, though quality ranged from just OK (seasonal rice and beef dish) to outstanding ( congee and soup noodles with beef brisket). But what can you expect; it's on a plane. I couldn't figure out the remote control, but touch screen worked well. My wife and I (in our 60s), didnt find much to watch from the Entertainment choices. We mostly watched the flight maps. The bedding did the job but is unwieldy and ends up in a clump, with one-third falling on the floor.

First time tying out business class with this airline, hat a disappointment, never returning. We didn’t get the meal as requested from Singapore to HKG flight. While meals served connecting flight, crew takes meal order based off passenger membership status by giving the. Priority selection of meals. It was a battle, plain disappointment, not worth the hype, price, class as categorized/ advertised

If my return flight was not so much better, I would have given an excellent review.

Chicken pieces were too big with pasta. Need to be smaller.

My connecting flight was canceled or never existed. My stopover went from 1 hour and a half to 10 hours. It was a long day that I wasn't prepared for and it would have been nice to know that ahead of time. Cathay is great though. Great staff, entertainment and food.

Overall pretty good experience. It would be nice to have caught the attendants even they were flying down the aisle with snacks, and if they could cater to multiple dietary restrictions (bland and no lactose. The customer service chat is a bad experience), but otherwise no complaints.

There was a flight attendant named Angela who took care of me because I injured my foot badly right before the flight. Because of the service she provided I will always fly Cathay.

they are deley vancouver to hankong 3 hour after honkong 20 hour stay there honkong not visa approved and they cant help to visa so we are stay in airport 20 hour even honkong staf very bad person they cant do for us 6 hour we arround they said you there you go there waste time next time i dont want to go cathay stay in honkong

I was only given 2 meals, and my screen showed that there were 3 meals. Second meal was 1-2 hours late according to the screen.

In my return flight they couldn’t identify my ticket or boarding pass, I had to go to 3 different counters until I was able to get my boarding pass. The food was on, it was the bear minimum. They didn’t even recognise that I was a Muslim and can’t eat meat, chicken or pork. In one of the trays I believe they served me pork. The staff were very pleasant, but they need to be aware of their surroundings more carefully, one of them stuck her lower belly right into my face! I was shocked and very uncomfortable.

Overall I had good experience with China Southern airline. Nothing to claim. I hoped they could improve the meal quality that is.

Wow very impressed by the quality and attentiveness of service of China Southern. Lived the blankets! Will definitely fly with them again. Despite language barriers, a few attendants know enough English to understand our rudimentary Mandarin and respond to basic questions. Although they don’t explain the beverage and meal service on the website or ticketing documents, they offered regular beverage cart and snacks during the beginning hours and end hours of the long, transoceanic flight. A full meal at the beginning and end of the flight as well, and a midflight small sandwich (dinner roll sized) but we weren’t hungry and didn’t try that one. The expectation is that every sleeps during the middle of the flight. We were on a “redeye” departure from LAX with a morning arrival in China, so I don’t know if this service pattern is the same for other flights. The domestic flight we took from Guangzhou to Harbin offered conventional refreshments and meals like a US flight service. Note that they didn’t offer diet sodas. If you like to stay hydrated, I recommend bringing plenty of your own. It is served in small cups like any other drink. You can ask for a bottle but they’re tiny - about 6 ounces.

China Southern was not the problem. I booked my flight through Kayak and also received a booking reference and alert details regarding departure time and gate numbers… however Kayak NEVER actually booked my flight! We were stranded at the airport without a flight for a long awaited holiday!

The connection between LA and Atlanta was too much stress

Terrible boarding experience,,food is very poor that I I . Never going book this airline again.

The crew were kind, patient and responsive. The service was excellent, even though we travelled the cheapest economy class. We arrived at our destination 40 min early, which for a 15+ hour flight is a great bonus. The boarding seemed a bit "loose", but got us boarded on time, and the plane was off exactly @ 0:30 hrs.

The airport didn‘t give me the ticket. I called customer service to ask for a refund but they kept giving me a perfunctory response and refused to refund me.

The flight was delayed hours and most flights from CS are always delayed. Plane was efficient and got us home but not the best food and no entertainment system at all.

Not good - chair back could not move back for premium economy. Not worth the price

Crew and food was good, ok leg room if you don’t have a big box under the seat. And the seats are so narrow (I’m only 70kg), will consider an alternate airline next time

Seated in row 6 you are separated from business class close to the toilets. The is a high panel in front that obscures forward viewing, coupled with no window view. Service is limited as the area is not in view of the attendants. It is closer in proximity to economy than business class.

Boarding from DOH to SYD the Business Class were pointed in a separate gate but no one there to receive us. Otherwise it was ok.

The flight was delayed and one member of the crew was a bit rude. But apart from that all good.

It never happened. Me flight from Doha to São Paulo was lated and the time of waiting for the luggage arrives when we arrived in São Paulo was about 1 hour and half. So it took a lot of time just waiting the luggage of flight that was already late, consequently we lost the flight to Recife with Latam Airlines and had to go to the Qatar office to arrange another flight to us to Recife, that one with Azul Airlines. It was more 4 hours waiting to this other flight to knows that this other flight was delayed too, total of 5 hours more at the airport to waiting to go home :/

Overall the experience was neat with crew being nice and caring especially to parent with kids. The free snacks option was okay. The kiosk at Philly airport didn’t work.

It was excellent in all respects. I don’t think it needs any improvement

Terrible experience resolving missed connection after flight was delayed. 3 hour queue at transit desk, not enough staff, no organisation, worst ever flying experience.

Awful plane to Tashkent. Not even possible to sleep. In business class does not even recline fully

Very unimpressed that I was dumped from the seat I had booked and paid for after check in. Apparently a family wanted to sit together, however as they all were adults I think they should have pre booked their seats like I did. I will be approaching Qatar for a refund. That and the dreadful state of the flooding toilets made me wonder how they managed to be voted the best airline. Not worth the money.
