FAQs - booking Queensland flights

  • I’m looking for a flight to Hamilton Island. Which airports should I choose?

Your initial flight from the United Kingdom will depart either from Manchester Airport (MAN) or London Heathrow (LHR), so if you’re flying from elsewhere you’ll need to plan for an extra flight or alternative method of transport to one of these airports. From Manchester and London, you can fly to either Brisbane Airport or Cairns Airport with a stopover in an Asian city. Hong Kong is typically one of the most popular destinations for a stopover. From Brisbane or Cairns, you’ll have to catch a domestic flight to Hamilton Island Airport (HTI), which is operated by local airline Qantas Airways.

  • Which airport in Queensland is the closest to Port Douglas?

Port Douglas isn’t served by its own airport, but the closest is Cairns Airport, around a 50min drive away. Although you can opt to rent a car and drive yourself, after a long flight to Queensland it might be more comfortable to book a private transfer in advance.

  • I’m booking a flight to Queensland to visit the Outback. Which airports do I choose?

It depends on which one of the five main towns in the Outback Queensland area you are planning to visit. Each one of them has its own regional airport with regular flights from Brisbane. Those airports are Charleville Airport (CTA), Mount Isa Airport (ISA), Birdsville Airport (BVI), Blackall Airport (BKQ), and Longreach Airport (LRE). Mount Isa also has regular flights from Cairns operated by local carriers QantasLink and Regional Express Airlines.

  • Which airport in Queensland is the best for travelling to Coolangatta?

Coolangatta is served by the Gold Coast Airport, less than 5min away by car. This airport is a hub for Jetstar Airways, which operates regular flights from London via Tokyo. If you don't mind an extra stopover, Air France also operates flights from London with a first stopover in Paris and the second stopover in Tokyo.

  • How long is the flight to Queensland?

An average direct flight from the United Kingdom to Queensland takes 32h 45m, covering a distance of 9977 miles. The most popular route is London - Brisbane with an average flight time of 22h 25m.

  • What is the cheapest flight to Queensland?

The cheapest ticket to Queensland from the United Kingdom found in the last 72 hours was £668. The most popular route is London Heathrow to Brisbane and the cheapest round-trip airline ticket found on this route in the last 72 hours was £670.

  • What are the most popular destinations in Queensland?

The next most popular destinations are Cairns (9%) and Coolangatta (5%). Searches for flights to Townsville (2%), to Maroochydore (1%) and to Mackay (0.4%) are also popular.

  • How does KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a given destination and date is likely to change within 7 days, so travellers know whether to wait or book now.

Staff were friendly, and provided great service. The food was plentiful and delicious. Food could have been hotter.

They had superb boarding (started an hour before flight time). Timely pushback from them gate and an early arrival. Flight and service was very comfortable. I wanted to move my flight to an earlier one, only thing was there was no one at emirates in Heathrow to help. Had to call the call the center and pay to change. There were ample seats on the flight though

Lovely experience. I feel like travelling in Emirates.. The flights are always superb.Vegan food served was really good..

Overall emirates continues to amaze me with their. Awesome service . I had shifted away from emirates , because I lost luggage and watch in emirates in 2019 that drifted me away from this airline , but I am willing to give it try

The amenities offered in the Business class is far away less compared with other Air Companies. Emirates is going down in the competition pricing the same value as Qatar airways for example.

Well emirates since after covid recovery their service became much poorer than before , old planes to some destinations, untrained staff , rude , inflexible, and poor food, this specific flight the plane felt like in the 90s , and staff behavior was rude due to usual incidents in these flights for some destinations, i understand this but they pit everyone at the same basket, a readiness to be rude anytime

Premium economy on Emirate A380 is simply the best non-business class product. In fact its probably better than many business class if the seat isnt lying flat. The food and service is close to perfect!

Everything was perfect except boarding . Have to wait @ gate for 45 minutes after announcing boarding ..

Everything was perfect... especially air hostess were excellent in attending people.

While I was in great pain, the seat was sufficiently comfortable to allow me to rest and not be in so much pain.

we were upgraded which was a blessing and tender mercy for us. I fell the day before and was in extreme pain from knee to shoulder. Sitting in a more comfortable seat during the flight was an unexpected blessing and experience.

Flight crew was especially thoughtful and attentive, made sure our seats were comfortable so we could rest on the long flight

One of the worst flight in business class by qatar airways and I’m no stranger with qatar airways businesses class, I travelled with the extensively in the past 12 years

Very comfortable flights. Not so many new releases in terms of films.

The aircraft was slightly newer but the food was very bad. Bland and uninteresting. Nothing special at all.

The crew were fine. I didn’t enjoy the food at all. I found it unappetising and really had trouble eating it. The comfort level was fine and our return flight is with Cathay Pacific but honestly I probably wouldn’t fly Cathay Pacific again.

Everything went smooth. All flights were on time No changing gates, . No changing flights . It was like a completely different airlines tha n the last time I used Cathay Pacific . The last flight, 2 months ago, I had before this one was from Philippines also . I got changed in Manila and was told it only added 2 hours onto my flight . My 20 hour return trip ended up being 30 hours return with a 10.0 hour layover in New York with no seats anywhere . Everyone was sleeping or sitting on the floor . Unlike the hotel I was given in Manila to wait for this flight home . I never thought I would use Cathay Pacific again . But I did and this time you were great! I should have complained about the flight and layover from Hell a couple months ago. Consider that I am complaining about that august/23 flight now . Thank you got the great flying experience on my way home from philippines .

Everything was good food could be better but ok for economy on my 2nd flight the head ph jack are bad you have to hold pushed in to hear anything but other then that very nice service

Cathay much better than other options Imigration was a total mess on arrival in KL but not Cathay s fault

On the flight back the seats where very uncomfortable, they where so bad that my back started to hurt after the first 2 hours. I can sit in a wooden chair for 2 hours. But these where just horrible, it just shows how cheap the airline has become. And the cabin was heated all those people in a heated cabin during a night flight. It was clear the climate control was not working. To top that off you are not even offered a glass of water, these people are animals.

We purchased a Go First Pass for 10 Euros each so we could board first, but everyone was able to board at the same time so we wasted 20 Euros. The flight left ab out 15 minutes late and was not allowed to land at Healthrow so we had to circle Heathrow for about 45 minutes. This caused us to almost miss our flight from Heathrow to Atlanta.

Severely delayed with no notice. Could have arrived at the airport hours later had we been informed of the delay

Once the boarding sign went on and all passengers gathered in line, we were left waiting standing up for almost an hour because there was a delay.

It would be nice to have vegan options for meals. The entertainment was not working on the the way to Austria. It was only available near the end of flight to Canada. The service was excellent.

Flight was delayed by approx 1 hour. The boarding process and the flight itself were very good, slightly tight squeeze for my legs but overall happy.

The business class layout on this plane is tightly packed and atrocious with no sense of privacy.

Flight was meant to leave at 8:30pm but there was a 2 hour delay 😞

Airmalta does not include meals in their flights and neither offers entertainment.

Pros: "The crew was amazing and took measures to make the flight Covid safe"
Cons: "The food was not the best and Twistees weren't available. Also the seats felt narrow"

Delayed and then further delayed with no announcement made so that all the passengers (who were standing in the jetty) could hear. We stood there for well over 20 minutes. We were further delayed through weather but no one explained that to us until the pilot made an announcement when finally on board

easyJet need to ensure that whether pre-booking seats or not children aren’t split from their parents the crew spent the majority of boarding asking passengers to move to accommodate two families. Surely the system identifies minors on a booking !!!!! It was all very frustrating to watch and caused delays which I’m sure cost easyJet more in the long run rather that automatically allocating families with minors seats together automatically.

Not great! Rude staff in London and the worse baggage reclaim I’ve ever seen. Great staff in flight but doubt I’ll fly with them again

Staff had been really impolite at the boarding area and for both ways charged high extra fees without a reason. For the check-in luggage which was measured 3.5 kg and was confirmed by the stuff to cost 40 € , 60 Euros had been purchased from our credit card. When confronted staff did call us both liars and claimed to never have announced anything. Flight back , when not wanting to press a backpack in a measuring metal instead of hand measuring , staff got angry that one did not follow her order, which was than escalated by the team. Although carrying a baby anyways staff did not offer any help in the unreasonable process and than charged again extra money. Cabine crew has been friendly but this experience LL lead to not booking easy jet at all in the future. Check in process in Edinburgh anyways chaotic,to the family check-in and disabled check-in everybody else was guided for check in process, so people just getting in between each other, not possible to monitor your own stuff.

As you would expect from a budget airline Left and arrived on time, no frills, not even a glass of water offered But you get what you pay for

I had an emergency escape seat. The attendant gave the extrA briefing to my side of the aisle but didnt direct it at all to the other where my wife was sitting

Boarding great. Didn’t eat or drink so can not comment.

Total jobs worths over carry on bags, charged £96 extra for bags that were clearly hand luggage

3 hours delayed Don’t understand why when you have paid for ‘speedy boarding’ they call you forward to then make you stand fir another 20 minutes in a confined space before boarding the plane.

The pilot did everything possible to make up the 35 minute delay. His communications were honest, prompt and positive throughout.

It was truly amazing. I will do it again! Excellent!

Pre flight food options were not working and made the flight not enjoyable. Post experiences of British airways have been positive, but this is enough to stop me using British airways again

Flight cancelled and i was rebooked on delta. Delta business class is not the same as British

It was nice and smooth from boarding to landing. Flight crew was wonderful and very professional.

Boarding could be smoother. But the flight crew was excellence. Very professional, friendly and helpful.

The crew was great but we sat in the plane for over an hour before takeoff combined with a 4 hour delay on our previous flight caused us to miss planned scheduled meetings in Geneva.

Everything was fine except my screen wasn’t working and I was unable to watch any movies or TV. Staff tried 3 times to reboot it, without success.

Not as bad as from Newark to London ,but that doesn’t mean I will book with them again

Positive boarding experience, easy access to seat with plenty of luggage space

Too many passengers are bringing two large bags, neither fit under the seat so space is limited and the crew ask for many people to check bags
