Pros: The crew was very kind and the staff made sure I had an isle seat as well as an exit row because I am quite tall. The check-in process and support was excellent. I would highly recommend this flight line to anyone needing to travel through China.

Cons: The individual seats did not have any way to charge devices. This made it impossible to do any offline work on my phone for fear that it would run out of charge on the extended flight.

Pros: The crew was polite but service was not quite there. We pick a 2-seat layout so it was OK.

Cons: The food was poor and only served twice. Once shortly after taking off and another a couple of hours before landing. In a span of 10 to 11 hours there was no offer of drink or food of any kind.

I asked China Eastern staff members at the airport and no one was willing/able to resolve my complaint.

Cons: I could not plug in my headphones because of the proprietary plug on the airplane. I understand some airlines used to use proprietary plugs to keep people from taking their headphones that were offered complementary for the flight but I’d rather use my high end noise canceling headphones.

Cons: The hearphones sound quality is deplorable, and since the aircraft noise level is high is almost impossible to use it. Ok, that is easy to correct with no cost: remind the travelers to bring they own hearphones (I didn't bring mine) for best sound.

Cons: I didn’t realize that Chinese transit visa is needed to transfer at Xiamen airport. When I bought the tickets, I wasn’t notified nor advised to get the Chinese visa. The Xiamen rep at Lax didn’t let me board first and I explained and they gave me the visa waiver paperwork. It was so much of hassle. I’ve laid over many Chinese cities via different airlines and never had any problems. Will not fly again on Xiamen!!

Pros: Flew from Vancouver to Qingdao and despite my concerns after reading earlier reviews, the flight was great! The seat was comfortable and reclined enough that you could actually sleep. I think I was one of very few non-Chinese passengers on board and there was a bit of a language barrier, but the staff was super friendly and accomodating.

Cons: I ended up with a middle seat, but the seat was comfortable and roomier than normal, so it wasn't so bad.

Cons: Because of the two hour delay, I was going to miss my next flight. I told the flight attendant about my problem. She said that it would be fine, and they would help me once I landed. That didn't occur. I got through customs and rushed to the airline desk. They then told my that my connection flight had been delayed. I went through security, and I sat next to my gate. For hours it said delayed, but didn't give a new time. I asked the staff, and they said later. After four hours, I asked again, and they told me that the flight had left. I asked another staff member, who told me that the flight had been canceled, and I needed to get a new ticket. I never got an answer as to whether the flight had been canceled, but I was not going to leave Xi'an that day. They sent me to a hotel, which was more than 20 minutes away from the airport. In the morning, the airport transport was late, which caused even more stress. To top all of this off, I had to go to three different people for my ticket because there was some unknown problem.
